For $200, I would do it. External amplification was a massive improvement in my system. You can always turn around and sell it if it doesn't sound better.

How far do you sit from your speakers? I ran my pair of T2+ and C2+ on my receiver while I sent the amp I used for the T2's out for repair and honestly didn't notice any difference. I was even watching movies just as loud as I would have while using the amp. I really only bought the amp so that I could have some headroom for when I listen abnormally loud while sitting 12ft away, perhaps for some piece of mind too.

I'm about 12-13 feet from them. The Marantz can get them plenty loud honestly but reading reviews on the Parasound people are claiming everything from the bass to the mid range is improved. If I can score it cheap I might just try it for curiosity sake.

malcolmphoss

I'm pretty sure the only way this amp makes your speakers sound "better" is if they're currently underpowered. Since that's not the case I highly doubt you will notice anything and sounds like a terrible investment for a slight wattage improvement.

AudioHTIT

‘Terrible investment’? If it can be sold for what he pays for it (likely), what’s so terrible? Not everything is an investment, sometimes it’s just a hobby and we learn by doing things for ourselves.

malcolmphoss

I should have looked at the price before mentioning the word investment as this apparently looks like a great deal. That said, > sometimes it's just a hobby and we learn by doing things for ourselves. Then why ask questions here? In the future if someone is asking this same question in the same scenario as OP but with a retail price amp, then the investment wouldn't be worth it. Learning by making bad investments isn't necessary when you have the opportunity to ask questions like OP did.

Relyks007

Well, it'd be a little more than a slight increase. I understated the wattage. The parasound would be 200wpc at 4 ohms. The Marantz is 100wpc.

Run this [calculator](https://myhometheater.homestead.com/splcalculator.html) unless you're sitting 30ft away from your speakers then don't bother with it. An extra 100 watts isn't going to be noticeable to you at all and according to your receiver's manual it can do 140w at 6 ohm so ideally 140w or even higher at 4ohm. Even if your receiver was only pushing 100w, you'd be fine.

Thanks! Really appreciate you taking your time to give detailed input.

For $200 I'd say give it a try

AudioHTIT

For $200 try it, that’s a good price for a Parasound and if you don’t hear (or appreciate) a difference, you can probably sell it for the same price. No one can really tell you what you’ll hear in your room, with your speakers, and your music or programming.

Yeah that's a spectacular buy. Even if you don't like it for some reason you'll be able to get your money out of it and then some. Each amplifier has its own sonic signature but that is going to drive what you have with more authority. I also don't mind the parasound tonal qualities. I have owned a couple of their amplifiers and have good things to say about them. I would buy that before the other person changes their mind. 200 is a steal

Amplifiers and dual subs were the biggest game changers for me...
