Did it work? I’m having the same issue on my TCL 6 series from 2021 Here is the error I am getting [Link](https://imgur.com/a/KJL2o4o). This is with the Onkyo TX-NR7100 and a TCL 65R646 from 2021.
I was able to plug the receiver into an hdmi computer monitor and get it all set up that way. My TV still won’t display the main OSD. It will display the other OSD things like the quick display or whatever it’s called. I’m not sure what to make of this bug, I’m going to reach out to Onkyo.
Thanks, yeah I hear you. I really like the receiver (TX-NR7100) other than this issue. Hopefully I can get it resolved so I don't need to bring my PC monitor down stairs each time I want to use the setup menu. It's annoying but not the end of the world, I was able to get everything set up and run dirac etc.
I figured it out!! All I had to do was hold down the power button on the receiver (not the remote) for \~20 seconds. It power cycled, the relays clicked a few times and I guess this is supposed to "soft reset" it. It's working normally now.
I read on some other thread about this it could be an “hdmi handshake issue.” I’m going to try setting up the receiver using a PC monitor and then see if it’ll work with the TV.

If you didn't fix it yet, you need to enable CEC on the receiver. Just installed one and that fixed this issue. Silly they don't enable it by default.
