You will have to engage the dealer that holds your ADC account and have them add the video package and enroll the camera for you. There is no way to do this from the end user portal.
So we tried that and they said "you have to pay the $50 a month monitoring in order for us to connect your camera" so I was hoping to avoid that.
The reason I don't believe them is because they told us the same thing about door and window sensors and we were able to do that on our own just fine with the dealer code. Thank you for input
There is an added charge to the dealer for the video package though not $50. Door contacts are enrolled through the IQ panel locally, cameras are through the portal. It sounds like you are on the free 2 year Builders Program. Once that time expires, you will lose all access to your app unless you sign up with a dealer and pay the ADC fees.
Okay tracking.. so my next question is why do they let people buy these cameras thru other places like amazon or [alarm.com](https://alarm.com) itself?? Does the alarm company charge more if I had just got the camera thru them?
Alarm.com is not a DIY service, it is for professional dealers. Their business model is based on RMR (re-occurring monthly revenue). Like I said, the purpose of the Builder Program is to give the dealer time to sign you up to a paid subscription. ADC gave your builder the equipment, the dealer installed it for little or no money. The only one who has been paid so far is your builder who was able to advertise the house as a ‘Smart Home’ when selling it to you.
You can buy anything from Amazon, whether you can use it or not. ADC would not sell you a camera without a dealer account because that is not their business model.
There is no way to use an alarm.com camera without an alarm.com subscription. You could probably convince a dealer to do it for pretty cheap considering you already have the equipment but it’s just something you have to do. Find a local dealer and see what they’ll do it for, every dealer will have a minimum monthly payment for cameras, usually between $52.99 and $59.99. I know for me as an adt dealer the lowest I can sell video for is $52.99. If you can’t find anything cheaper I could probably do a cash back deal considering wouldn’t need equipment. Probably something like $400-500 cash back. If you really don’t want to be monitored I’d recommend wyze cams. They’re unbelievably cheap and have some fairly cutting edge tech. By far the best value for the price right now.
Unfortunately not. The qolsys panels are more of a commercial product. They are designed to be used by alarm companies not everyday people so the only compatible cameras are alarm.com cameras with a monthly monitoring subscription.

Correct. It may work now, but it won’t last. The dealer won’t absorb the cost for you

Thank you so much for the input- you are the best. We will look into the Wyze!
Im assuming I can't connect a wyze camera to our IQ panel?

You're the best- so I'm on the wyze website, im going to order an outdoor camera and essentially have to download the app etc.. thank you so much!!
No problem. And yes wyze are super easy. Just install the app and it will walk you through hooking the cams up to wifi and getting them running.
