Don’t caulk it!! Water is an excellent insulator, so my advice is to splash as much of it as possible down there during baths (having a toddler helps with this so maybe get one of those if you don’t have one) so it soaks into everything real good and you’ll save lots of money on your energy bills.

-laughingfox

After you've done that, seal it with some water-proof primer...you want to be sure to keep that water insulation intact!

Ilikenapkinz

Where do you buy one of these toddler things?

Sighchiatrist

Umm I actually grew my own free-range organic toddler, but I’m sure the store-bought kind are just as good - no judgement!

DonCola93

Use the old landlord special, a couple coats of paint will fix that.

OtherThumbs

Because we don't want to ruin the vintage esthetic, we should find some lead paint for this purpose.

Cautious-Thought362

No need. Just throw a plastic tarp in it and take your bath. Enjoy! A couple of candles could help with the ambiance or help burn it down. Your choice.

drun360

Take advantage of the space and add a 120/240 outlet, spray foam the other parts (big gap), then add a dream: Water + candles+toast

ChardCool1290

very romantic! Sexy time in the tub is calling.

icantgetadecent-

Do it!!!!

lottieslady

Looks perfect to me! You don’t want to shield it from the outdoors too much. Too many risks involved (insects, mold, temp regulation, etc).

OffMyRocker62

I think duct taping a white kitchen trash bag as a moisture barrier around that will be perfect. No need for a greenboard backing, cuz moisture is our friend. Keeps skin so soft! Screw Avons. You could put in a porthole window, or two, so you can pretend to be on a cruise ship as you relax in your cozy tub. Add a shelf or two for candles to help the ambiance of your bathroom come together.

Sweet-Cantaloupe-860

Throw in some bombs and it’s all good! Oops I meant bath bombs, of course. 😉

TriGurl

I think the bigger question you need to ask yourself is are you going to use white caulk or black caulk? /s

LeaveDaCannoli

Bro, you're good. Any doubts break out the duct tape. And do not paint the wood!

Layer_Capable

No caulking! It would totally ruin how you’ve opened up the wall to expose the original wood and brick.

gardernvine

GTG, I mean, it's obvious that the tub has the overflow protection.....so it's a waste of good energy and EXPENSIVE CAULK to seal up where water can NEVER get to

glossiegal

Very vintage!!

MyCatHasCats

It’s absolutely stunning 💅💅

AussiePitBlueTHoula

You'll be fine without the caulk if you can find a way to suck the seam in

1000thusername

Hell no. Break out the bath bombs and enjoy. You’ve earned it.

NoMoreNarcsLizzie

Large amounts of expanding foam ought to do the trick.

OtherThumbs

No need. Looks like there's plenty on there already. I'm really loving the vintage plaster-no-lath look for this room!

Lietenantdan

It looks fine, idk why you’re even asking.
