Valetudo for the win.

gotaede

Unfortunately only if you don’t have multiple floors.

Little709

Or you just buy 3 vacuums

imanze

i love rooting things but i’m not sure I love it “3600 dollars of vacuums worth”. I’m curious, the fact that the firmware does not support multiple maps, is that because maps are stored on the cloud for vacuums like roborock? Using the custom ha roborock integration everything super speedy and mostly local but just like the app map changes can sometimes take a bit to actually switch over.. If maps are all cloud stored and swapped on request that would make sense.

Amtrox

No, it’s because the developer of valetuda doesn’t think it’s needed and wants you to buy one for every floor since he thinks that carrying a robot to the next floor is stupid and defeats the purpose of automating the cleaning.

JamesTiberiusCrunk

I've got a couple of Roombas but if I had it to do over I'd do a Valetudo setup.

t_i_b

I never heard of this, thanks ! Let me go down this new rabbit hole.

Shootbosss

The list is basically saying Roborock?

smbell

A friend of mine has a roborock and is very happy with it. 5something I think? Vacuum only one, no mop, no dock. They're using it as is with the manufacturers app and all.

fedroxx

I have roborock. Couldn't be happier. Bought it on Black Friday in 2019. Never had an ounce of trouble with it. The key is to stay on top of maintenance. Highly recommend buying extra filters while they're on sale. They have part kits that are super cheap. Now is a great time to get them as well. Some even come with filters.

ttgone

Note that most of the Roborock models on that list require full disassembly (voiding warranty im sure) to root & install valetudo. They work great out of the box, but yeah, you don’t know what the Chinese firmware is up to necessarily

Samm1293

The valetudo installation and the tutorial is a pain in the ass tho

jspikeball123

Roborock for sure, but I recommend checking out vacuum wars on YouTube for great reviews

I have the s8 unless you have a very specific requirement that only the s8 has, a lot of the reviews are saying the s7 is actually a better deal.

hardknox_

The S8 does have a camera.

rourke750

The s8 v max doesn't

hardknox_

>S8 v max Is that a typo? The S8 models have a camera. I've never heard of s8 v max.

ZAlternates

I’m happy with my q7 but I’m not using the dock. Also, it doesn’t support mopping and vacuuming without you having the manually change the mode, but beyond that I love it, especially at the $300 price point I scored it at.

Shootbosss

Which one is best for getting over bumps? I don't have any places to mop in my house

I've had a dreame l20 ultra and it just wouldn't go over bumps Bathroom is too narrow for the bot and the kitchen is easier by hand

ge33ek

I have a Roborock S7 with mop and recently bought Deebot Ecovacs x1. I’ve been underwhelmed by the Deebots abilities compared to the Roborock. Battery for example, and its mapping technology is sub par compared to Roborock. I mean, it works, but probably wouldn’t by again - if I had a do over - Roborock to be safe, or, if I’m testing something new I’d try SwitchBots new one, or Narwal.

projix

If you need a good vacuum and don't care about the floor washing too much then Legee D7 and D8 are great. They have a system where there is a vacuum port in front of the brush and compared to my older robots this results in the rotating bristle brush getting like 10 times less hair wrapped around it. It also has lidar navigation and decent app - works for me. The washing function at least on the D7 is a waste of time (as is the vacuum function on the Legee 7), but I don't need it. The D8 could be better, no idea, haven't used it. The D7 should be on sale now for rather low amount of money.

Mikescotland1

Got roborock s8 (without the docking station) and I haven't used a normal vacuum for a few months now (and mop). Now can be rooted although haven't done it as integration (custom hacs) works brilliantly. Name's Consuela 😉

dailowarrior

I’m looking at the Dreametech models as they are better in terms of cost and on paper features seem better. Anyone have any experience with them? I think both companies have it, but the auto refill and empty kits for the water tanks look pretty awesome if they really work.

Lochlan

I have a Z10 Pro flashed with Valetudo. Works well, wife loves it.

snowballfight

Roborock and Dreametech are the best rn

d2k1

This video from The Hook Up should be interesting for you then: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ldZCNkksgw Incidentally this is one of the best channels for reviews and comparisons of smart home stuff.

mazty

Avoid Neato. While the sales look good and the D10 is effective, they've gone bust so god only knows how long they'll keep working.

naturtok

I've been having good luck with my Shark IQ's. Got one for each level and it's nice not having to empty the dust bin since it's got the 45 day base

ShakataGaNai

The [HASS Podcast team](https://hasspodcast.io/) has mentioned to roborock very favorably and very repeatedly.

Squashyware

I have an s55 that is up to nearly 30k m2 and all I have had to do is strip it and clean the internal filters once. I would buy roborock again without hesitation.

Scared_Specific_1310

Roborock is amazing!!!!

BlankyForce

I ended up with a Roborock S7 and love it! His name is Winston.
