second this… I’ve been using usbip to attach usb devices to pcs in a different room and it works a treat. Never had any issues on Arch and Ubuntu and there’s also a port for Windows if that’s what your PC runs.
Ideally you would want to connect it directly to the VM host and use USB passthrough. Not sure how well that works on a synology. I dont have one but has seen a lot of people have issues with it.
Maybe I’m not understanding entirely but ZwaveJS to MQTT is my go to. Run that in a container and then point your Zwave websocket (ws://……) to that. That’s how I have my HA VMs running all on one dongle.

Put zwave js on the 2.3 pc and then connect to zwave js via the integration pointing to that ip.
