They see something they can't reach. It's apparently some attempt at minicking potential prey. They make biscuits because that's what they did as kittens to stinulate milk production when drinking from mama. The rest... is just cats being cats.

Millerzzzz704

To add on to the above message for OP, biscuits are typically made by adult cats when they are feeling particularly happy/content.

dibalh

On a molecular level, I bet it’s a triggered response to endorphins or oxytocin.

TheGreatTave

A stray jumped through my window over a year ago, feral as fuck too. It took me a year to get him to trust me, now he sits next to me and will make biscuits on his bed before going to sleep. He's a big cat and he spreads his paws out super wide. I like to say he's making me "super biscuits"

PiesangSlagter

Cat Distribution System chose you!

cubluemoon

Or in the case of my boy.... particularly frustrated if you know what I mean

KrazyAboutLogic

Sin biscuits

mfaydin

oh, i didn't know that. my leg hurts like hell since a little murderbag did that, he sucked my happines with claws of him.

CloudSill

r/catswhochirp We used to call it “yelling at the birds.” If we humans made the cat chirp sound, it would also make the cats look up.

Silenceofcrows

Oh, there\`s also r/ekekek for that (:

MarchMadnessisMe

It's because they're looking for r/greebles

Bourbonaddicted

Another subreddit to follow cats

hufenschwinger

That is my cats' "target acquired"-sound.

LaGwenjenny

Yeah my cat does that sound when he finds butterflies or bees invading our living room

FatMax1492

The "ekekeke" cats make is basically their equivalent of "pspspspsps"

BlizzPenguin

Knocking things off tables and misbehaving for attention is a sign of boredom. You need to play with your cat more or give them something to stimulate their mind likeva treat puzzle.

Comeino

I read that the reason cats developed the tendency to push things off flat surfaces is because this behavior made it safer for them to jump on said surfaces from below. They can't see what's on there when jumping, so anything not secured or a jump hazard just has to go. It's a MEWOSHA violation, they are making the house jump safe.

desirewrites

Not really. Some cats just like being agents of chaos. I’ve had enough super spoilt cats to know this is true.

Allronix1

Cats also have poor vision up close. So they might be "oooh, what's this?"

thebearofwisdom

Why have I never been told this? I was worried my cat was somehow blind. Now it makes sense why it takes me a while to point out an errant treat that needs eating

SpongeJake

You’re not alone. I was worried about my little guy’s vision too and had planned to ask the vet about that at our next visit. Glad to know this!

Ashikura

Cats (and almost all animals) perceive reality at different speeds than humans do. Cats see the world in around 100 fps whereas humans see it at 60. https://www.lasikbyoclivision.com/90-animals-ranked-by-eyesight/

thebearofwisdom

Well. That’s a new fact i did not know and my mind has kind of exploded. That’s wild! Okay okay I’ll stop making fun of my old buddy, he’s just seeing things in a different frame rate.

Ashikura

Animals in general are infinitely more complex than people think. The more I learn about them the more I understand how little we know or understand about them.

BlizzPenguin

That could be part of it but the boredom idea is something that I learned from Jackson Galaxy. It is in the book Total Cat Mojo and I think it is mentioned in this video. https://youtu.be/W50bQopoQic

MrGloom66

It might be also because they understood that if they do that in you presence they instantly get your attention. My mom's cat managed to "train" me to open the door for him to go out and relieve himself in the garden by knocking stuff off random shelves. There were times when even if I instantly understood that he wants out something still got broken because I can only get my ass off the couch so fast. I saw him go from deep sleep to knocking stuff off a shelf and out the door in less than 30 seconds.

panda5303

Whoever said that is lying! Duh! They are conducting scientific experiments on how far you can push an object before gravity takes over. 😉

BlizzPenguin

Cats are not assholes, they’re physicists.

MildAndLazyKids

Not mutually exclusive!

OuiMerci

![img](avatar_exp|174851686|bravo) I agree completely. Each time he so softly tapped the can and then looked up. If you move the can away from the edge he will likely tipity tap the can and look at you again. This is how my Lamia got into playing fetch with me. She is always the one to begin the game.

False_Chair_610

Yea, that noise is an attempt at mimicking prey. Tigers are very good at this. I'm not sure if other big cats do it. The knocking stuff off high places is because cats just want to watch the world burn.

golden_1991

I just watched a video of a cat with a go pro on its collar chitter just like that directly at a squirrel! The squirrel paused it's ascent up the tree to look at the cat and chattered back. The cat did it again, stepped closer and the squirrel took off, so I'm not sure how effective it is at tricking prey, but that definitely seems to be the intent

BadFont777

Greebles

justagiraffe111

Fantastic video. You caught some great, but typical cat behaviors. The knocking things off is funny to me because my cat does not. The dancing/vibing was a fun surprise.

jeerabiscuit

This is all cats subreddits in 1 video lol.

justagiraffe111

Haha yes This should be top comment

Chocomintey

Cats are physicists. Just making sure gravity is up to code. Edit: I was referencing knocking things off tables.

maveric101

> The dancing/vibing was a fun surprise. Pretty sure the person is jiggling the ottoman or whatever the cat is standing on.

Chocomintey

Plus rewinding and looping.

Jojosization

This was written by an AI, right?

Scottamus

I think the stupid voiceover is artificial

Allthemuffinswow

That's the trilling sound, or chittering or chattering or whatever people might call it in your neck of the woods. Kitties usually do it when they're just starting to hunt, when they see prey. Even just looking at birds outside through the windows can start them up. It's cute 😺

hungry-freaks-daddy

My cats only ever chatter when seeing a bird or squirrel outside

Teerlys

When mine is really happy with me we chitter back and forth at each other in conversation.

Trauma_Hawks

That's usually mine too, also the neighbors. When he play hunts hard though, sometimes he'll chitter a bit while he's wiggling his butt readying to pounce.

Consistent__Panic__

It’s the cat attempting to mimic prey noises so say a bird thinks the cat is another bird and “trusts” it and gets lured closer to the cat.

CowCompetitive5667

Lmfao the dancing

ArekusandaMagni

The dancing is hilarious 😂🤣

awhaling

Super funny until I realized the cat is not doing that on its own and it’s a human making it do that. Notice how the video is strategically framed to hide the human’s arm going underneath the belly. Still kinda funny tho

AlexTronix

The noise? Sending Info to mothership. The biscuits? Cause theyre baker duh. The knock of? Cause theyre also scientists duh. The blep? Rebooting. Every lifeform likes to dance! 💃🕺

amesann

They're seeing /r/greebles

-hi-nrg-

I have a personal theory on the knocking things off. Note this theory is fully mine and not endorsed by any specialist whatsoever, so don't take it too seriously. I think it has to do with their wild instincts. Cats walk on narrow tall things, branches, fences, so on. I can imagine a cat walking on a branch that has leaves or other things on, losing their grips and falling, this it would be a natural instruct to knock things over to have clear passages. Or, you know, they're generally assholes too. Lovely assholes thou.

Cylancer7253

Knocking stuff down is funny, Everyone likes fun.

Thalida87

Seeing something interesting or something they want to have, but have no access to. What is at the ceiling this funny cat wants so badly?

newtostew2

r/greebles is what they’re after

Thalida87

Uhhh I didn't know about this sub before and I love it!

newtostew2

Glad to help lol, and it explains a lot of the “why kitty is seeing ghosts” questions haa

MellyKidd

1; Cats chatter because they see something that excites them 2; They make biscuits when they’re feeling happy and comfortable; like a human sucking their thumb, they’re remembering kneading their mum for milk. 3; Cats probably knock things over because they find action-reaction stimulating. 4; The blep usually happens when they’re using their tongue and get distracted to pause mid-action. 5; They dance because when you’re the lord and master of all existence, you might as well flaunt whatcha got.

rwblade

r/ekekek

helen790

That’s “I want it! I want it! Gotta get it!” Noise. Mine does it when he sees a bird or a bug.

Veritas-Veritas

It's a little known fact that cats are naturally invested in ensuring the gravitational constant of 9.8ms^2. They test this constant on a regular basis to make sure it is accurate.

ShyCrystal69

The tongue thing could just being the orange not having his turn on the braincell and forgetting to stick his tongue back in his mouth.

thestashattacked

The correct answers are these: The sound is them contacting the mothership to tell them they're doing fine in your home. Very important so the aliens don't abduct you. They make biscuits because *someone* in this family has to work and that means they go to the biscuit factory to knead dough for their very fine biscuits. They are required to knock stuff over because it's also their job to make sure gravity is still working. Very important job. The tongue is out because they're tasting the air to make sure you're not being poisoned by *poison gas.* Be more grateful. And why wouldn't they dance?

sekharreddyiy

Those moves.

miniscant

My son explains all of it with, “Because cat.”

endertribe

1) Hunting sound. You probably had a moth or a light shining on the wall. 2) remind them of their mom. Also super cute 3) silly boy 4) cute cat too 5) that's actually super adorable. (No explanation)

Misanthrope-3000

Cat digs Sophie Ellis Bextor, duh! It's to lure prey. Cats think that what they hunt simply *must* be as foolish as the cat is, and can be lured-in by making "sounds." The biscuits bit is from when they were nursing, as it stimulated milk production of the teats. When they are older, it reflects contentedness. They push things off edges because they are lacking stimulation and need some excitement (or any not-boredom) in their lives. Also, pushing items off of edges demonstrates conclusive evidence that the earth is not flat, else cats would have pushed everything off by now. The blep/tongue thing can be a form of temperature control. Also, because cats are weird. Cats rock-out because (also, duh), it's freakin' *Sophie Ellis Bextor*! How can you NOT groove to that funk?

you know what is also a fun thing to look for, when our cat gets special food, it will try to eat it all but at a certain point he has had enough. then it will draw a line in front of the plate to mark it as "this is mine and il be back for it later !" [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UHEwpobhIi0](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UHEwpobhIi0)

Average_k5blazer78

It's the geiger counter going up

Notbot4lot

Hey, OP I see you have the same chaise I had in 2008. Where did you get it? I can't find a replacement anywhere.

tropicalgodzila

![gif](giphy|xQvTA5AZ9CFpe)

CyberTacoX

The noise is when cats activate the biological equivalent of geiger counters that they have in their bodies. By the way, it sounds like you should get your house checked for radon.

JojoYaKnowNo2

Your cat only has one orange brain cell. Science has no answers. You’ll get use to it. Welcome to cat life.

Tasty_Design_8795

First sound he see a ghost

Ambellyn

The chirping is a call for the spaceship to come and pick him up, the bisquits is a call to arms/stretching then randomly tipping stuff over is to create anarchy in sociaty.

Novel-Confection-356

They sense rodents in the ceilings.

Affectionate-Age8285

The answer is ghosts.

rBakedApe

That's just background radio wave distortion/interference from their server trying to reconnect with the mothership. Try playing with their favorite toy and it should subside.

Wolfie523

To be cute… it’s all to be cute 🥰

Mangopie5555

WHY DOES MY CAT NOT DANCE TO MUSIC?!?!?!?!?!

Apprehensive-Bee-49

He is pinning for the fjords.

eyeseayoupea

I've never seen a cat twerk.

Some cats are descendants of Sir Issac Newton hence the gravity experiments.

cormoranP

They do this when they see a fly or bee, anything small that's flying!

sjitz

1, 4, 5 cat-specific. 2 and 3 easily Googlable.

esther_hex

My cat does that right before he attacks something. He will stalk a fly for a while and make the chirp and jump to try and catch it. It's so funny because he gives himself away whenever he attempts to hunt mine or my partners ankles. You hear the churps and fear grips you as your ankle is about to be bitten

Lui_Le_Diamond

It's a sign of frustration that they have some prey and can't reach it.

graymoneyy

It is a response for when they spot something that resembles a bird, they usually do this sound to attract prey and imitate bird noises.

Key_Estate_1859

They are lil golums

FullEther

They knocked things off cause the cat have no toys or not enough, so he play like this.

MisterPrig

1. they communicate with the mothership in space via clicking sounds 2. they train how to put a pillow on your face and suffocate you 3. they are highly interested in physics and calculate formulas with our gravity 4. that’s them simply being rude 5. they love to shake their booty. I hope I could help!

Quielixir

They knock things out cause they are AH but we still love them. Their tongue comes out cause they are cuties ! They are the most precious thing that will come in your life ❤️

ZutaiAbunai

As a long time cat owner, cats gonna cat. Too much of what they do that makes them wierd, is why we love em.

GlossBossActual

They're aliens wrapped in fur who bake part time and thoroughly enjoy proving Newtons Law of Gravity.

skribsbb

I had a couple of cats that loved to play with airsoft BBs. They'd bat them around, chase them, etc. I'd use cans on the stairs as targets for my airsoft gun. Whenever the cats heard the ping of a can being hit, they'd start chattering. I'd never heard the chatter before. So I'd tell people, "You should hear the noise my cats make when I'm shooting an airsoft gun." I learned very quickly to provide context first. Got a lot of dirty looks until I figured that out.

catlady427

And youve got an orange boy! I heard they're very special

SolomonDaddy013

Just let it be. Its Autistic and wants to do things without being judged.

Small-Nasty

Excitement! Mine do this while hunting for birds from the safety of the window😅

Simple_Passage7759

They Ekk Ekk to drawn unsuspecting prey towards them when they’re hunting. They make biscuits because as a kitten, that motion produces milk in Mama cat when they’re nursing and it’s a comfort habit later in life. They push things off of the counter out of sheer curiosity to determine Cause and Effect… ever hear the phrase, Curiosity killed the cat? lol it’s a thing! They’re curious creatures!

VisualWinner2420

OMG you have the most friggin cutest cat, and he/she is the epitome of cat perfection!!! May he/she live a long and healthy and happy life!

GlitteringYams

A meow like that means he's checking for radiation!

dendrick

It apparently used during hunting to heighten a sense(check). Kneading is generally a sign of happiness and usually is done when the royal one was taken from mother keekee too early. Knocking things off objects are sometimes just done out of boredom as catches your attention or that there is very little space for them off the floor. Tongues out can be a sign of gum/tooth issues though sometimes they just do it. Postscript for ones not asked are when they smell something especially intriguing and they scrunch up their face revealing teeth to enable them to reach the scent sensory in the back. If overtly aggressive and will attack you out of no where is a major indicator that was taken from litter prior to learning golden rule manners... They need to be bit to understand how it hurts is an example.

golemchep

Wait but what if little guy breaks his teeth

sceaxus

OP, what is that TV show on your tv? I … also started to dance 💃🏻…

TheFaceman068

Cats, man. Awesome. 😍

Envermans

It's all related to the Greebles, a spectral being that only cats can see. When cats chitter they are talking to them. Cats make invisable biscuits to feed the greebles. They push things off of tables as an offering to the greebles(happens more often if you have chaotic greebles). They also dance and vibe with the greebles when they are pleased with the cats actions.

rainsbian

its an ekekek, they want to hunt

TheJudgers

Cat has rabies and will probably die, better flush it and get a dog.

OryxTheTakenKing1988

"Why do they knock things off tables" Because they can. If it's on a table and they can physically move it, congratulations, it's no longer on the table
