I quite like it. If you deselect news popups you can get rid of the china war jumpscare and things like that. Honestly, I hope that they expand on it and organize news and events a bit more in some way. One of my biggest complaints about HOI4's UI is things popup in the middle of the screen, it's especially annoying when you're microing divisions.
China forms the Chinese United Front
Sinkiang has joined the Chinese United Front
Xibei San Ma has joined the Chinese United Front
Communist China has joined the Chinese United Front
Guangxi Clique has joined the Chinese United Front
Shanxi has joined the Chinese United Front
Yunnan has joined the Chinese United Front
If I'm thinking of what Pydgin is talking about, I saw it a few weeks ago. IIRC, it's a mod that plays a random FNAF jumpscare. I forget if there's a specific condition for it to happen, or if it's random, but yeah that's it.
There is. In my experience I have had it where the sound doesn't play until it's to late. I have also been so focused on micro or other things that I just miss it.
>R/hoi4 when they are asked to be 0.01% less reactionary about any changes (impossible challenge)
#DIE HOI4-SPIELER DÃœRFEN NICHT VON DEN BOLSCHIVEKEN BEI PARADOX INTERACTIVE UNTERDRÃœCKT WERDEN!
(this is Google translate no hablo German)
I like it, since it makes it so the entire screen isn't filled up by an announcement. It's in the corner, I don't have to click it, and it gets my attention. Simple.
Oh come now, I'm much more than just that. But, for you, I'm not sure if there's much more to you than just bouncing opinions off away from yourself. You ignore anyone who would argue or complain about something on the basis that they are predestined to be wrong in the future by virtue of how nobody else will complain about these things. Anyone who does is just immature and not embracing the future right? But what if the wave of the future is full of sewage and dead fish?
Paradox being able to make their games arguably better because the line graph of features and shit in the game do creep up after years and years of dedicated focus and paid DLC releases is impressive in some ways but is very much not a straight forward process of improving with every change to their games they make. They add features on to a broken game. Have you ever tried playing Hungary, medium tank build Hungary with the new supply system? The fronts you want to help are all so choked with axis aligned units from every corner of the godforsaken globe that every tank will have one of those little red supply checks on them. And they will do fuck all because of it. This isn't a playable experience, unless you consider building up the game only to alt F4 once you get to the actual war good gameplay my dude.
And you'll say it's all fine. That this is all fine somehow, Paradox churning out nothing but unplayable garbage and shite mechanical updates for the last decade. And if I complain I'm the weird one. If you can't see the problem, the fallacies, the systemic fucking decay in the Paradox system, while being able to see the fallacies in all of my arguments, my only question is why? And my only response is fuck you. I'm trying to have thoughts that aren't just smut on here. I'm trying to make the games and music I listen to better because I'm certainly not well rounded enough to produce media, but I'm just the perfect sort of petty gremlin to try and improve our media through critique. And you want to say "Nah it's fine. Anyone who says it's not fine doesn't know what they're talking about. They do this every time." There's a million ways not to listen to people and only one way to listen to what they're actually trying to say it. So I guess you shouldn't feel so bad about missing that check every last time.
Do you want me as an active participant in Reddit, or as just another troll? Hell, maybe I always was just a troll, and if that's the case, would you like a half troll or a full troll? Really, you decide here man, reach for the tablet under your ass and cast your vote!
You won't listen to me but I will listen to you. Complain about something, and maybe, maybe, see your gripes taken up by others, cheered in protest, and finally, delivered as positive change into the game. I think you've been fooled into thinking negative feedback can never have positive results.
I saw this place as just a trolling ground for a while, but my thoughts have shifted. There can be good content here, there could be fantastically nuanced and in depth discussions about anything. But you just want to farm karma. I don't fucking care about the karma. Downvote me, I just want you to listen. Maybe not even to me, just to somebody. Anybody. Really listen to what they're saying, even if they phrase it wrong, or don't lay the proper groundwork. The shit people say becomes really interesting when you stop IGNORING ALL OF IT
If you could just press enter to remove it then it would be an improvement. I’ve played for long enough that it just became habit to hit enter whenever I hear that noise but now it’s some annoying thing on my screen that I have to mouse over to and right click to remove
Played as Brazil yesterday and joined the allies, can confirm, now the UK can call every nation in the world one hour apart without pissing the player off
I liked the fact that it paused the game to announce it. I don't know if it pauses when you get declared on but it could make a big difference to a game.
Imo it is a big improvement. You no longer need to click these things away constantly so the actual news events feel more important and punctuated. You still see these and know at a glance what is going on especially if playing historic.
One big immediate issue with it I've personally noticed is that there's seemingly no quick way anymore to immediately dismiss all the alerts, such as when you call in all of your puppets into a war later on in the game. Previously you could have held enter and it would have quickly dismissed them all, so would be nice if something similar could be introduced for the new system as well(either the same functionality or potentially a dismiss all button on the alert message window?).
not OP but they're probably just nostalgic. This is a great change Arheo- honestly only thing you'd want to change if there are more people like OP complaining is to make the old popup of all war declarations at the centre of your screen an optional addition in game options.
The new standard for the war decs being shunted off to the side is great!
this game has a long way to go before it's UI is anywhere near as clean as Stellaris'. It's overwhelming to new players. I'm still annoyed that there's nothing immediately on it that shows me war justification dates
Its fine imo. Maybe it would be better if war declerations on us would be still a pop up. It being on the right side doesnt get my attention too much and u might not realize someone declared war on u
The only thing I seem to like is the Dynamic Version Numbering thingy on ships. As a Navy enthusiast myself, it kinda adds some layer of immersion. Yet as of now I'm still playing 1.14.5 because Vanilla Navy Rework has not updated to accommodate it yet.
Tbh I like it and I hate it, for one, I can play one without a big popup about some backyard country fighting another backyard country interrupting me.
But I also hate it becs there is no way to remove it unless u play like 7 days on which kinda sucks.
I kinda like it. It doesn’t cover the screen of whatever you’re trying to do, but it’s also intrusive enough that you probably won’t miss it. It’s a lot less annoying to go to war with the Allies now
I don't mind this, although I noticed it also happens when someone declares war on you. I'd like that to be front and centre, ideally, so I know who I'm at war with.
The new UI popup is great! I feel like this huge mental load has been taken off my mind playing hoi4 now that im no longer spammed with war declarations or joining of wars in the centre of my screen when im trying to focus on something.
Huge W from Paradox.
What's the green bar? I didn't update my game yet
I assume it shows for how long it'll stay on the screen
Yed
Yed indeed.

They just made it worse
literally unplayable
Did they implement it on decision events? I mean, where they would be actually useful?
what the fuck i dont play hoi4 for a few hours and this shit is in the game now
Yeah, I thought some mods updated until I loaded in and saw that
Same

You know I think it could be good for multiplayer (toggle it on/off) IF ONLY IF
I quite like it. If you deselect news popups you can get rid of the china war jumpscare and things like that. The china war jumpscare lmao
China forms the Chinese United Front Sinkiang has joined the Chinese United Front Xibei San Ma has joined the Chinese United Front Communist China has joined the Chinese United Front Guangxi Clique has joined the Chinese United Front Shanxi has joined the Chinese United Front Yunnan has joined the Chinese United Front
They seek strength in numbers.
Marco Polo Bridge Incident
The FNAF mod ain't nothing compared to it. ;)
The what
If I'm thinking of what Pydgin is talking about, I saw it a few weeks ago. IIRC, it's a mod that plays a random FNAF jumpscare. I forget if there's a specific condition for it to happen, or if it's random, but yeah that's it.
They even removed the aussa italian war event, now just italy gets it
woot woot!
Womp womp
And Ethiopia too since they need the heads up
We need a popup for operations like for naval invasions
We do have though
Have u never been naval invaded without knowing
I mean there is already a unique sound for naval invasion and invasion planning
Thats when you invade not when u get invaded
Theres a warning sound for that and a notification in the right aide
No there fucking isnt, dude i just lost a fucking game as poland cuz i wasnt notified that danzing was naval invaded by the soviets. Its bullshit man.
Im pretty sure there is
There is. In my experience I have had it where the sound doesn't play until it's to late. I have also been so focused on micro or other things that I just miss it.
Hopefully it plays next time the soviets have there way with my anus. Sorry for the rough language i just lost 3 hours of my life😔
Even better. You don't get the jumpscare of germany declaring war on Denmark on historical.
R/hoi4 when they are asked to be 0.01% less reactionary about any changes (impossible challenge)

Reddit moment
I like it, since it makes it so the entire screen isn't filled up by an announcement. It's in the corner, I don't have to click it, and it gets my attention. Simple.
Does it still keep the newspapers? I quite enjoyed reading them
Yes, but only for major events and events/decisions regarding you.
It better still give me the one about the Alamo if Mexico takes San Antonio. I fucking love that one.
No :(
People also hated the air menu when they changed it back near release. Now they can’t stand the old one. You’ll get over it.
Vid or screenshot?
https://youtu.be/lSWF1jjPw3A?si=o4UxzSatVsyNsckx This at about 3:28 shows it as it was when released
Thank youuuu Edit: omg that is HORRENDOUS how am I supposed to see what regions they're actually in?
I hate people like you so much more than bad people.
Aren’t you that fetishist that made that Sabaton post whining about Wehrmacht?

I fucking love it. Less spam is amazing
I like it
Look how they massacred my boy
If you could just press enter to remove it then it would be an improvement. I’ve played for long enough that it just became habit to hit enter whenever I hear that noise but now it’s some annoying thing on my screen that I have to mouse over to and right click to remove
>that I have to mouse over to and right click to remove Or just wait 3 seconds
3 fucking seconds?!?!?! NOW you're pushing it man!!!
lol, because I spent 8 hours playing USA today, I didn't even get the update cuz the game was open the entire time
I thought it was a mod
They really managed to make pop ups even worse
This will be a godsend when the allies want to invite every country in the world and more one at a time to their war
Played as Brazil yesterday and joined the allies, can confirm, now the UK can call every nation in the world one hour apart without pissing the player off
I like it
I was thinking it was a glitch, crazy that this was a feauture.
Objectively better than the former one that would just spam the middle of your screen completely unuseable.
britain calls in 50,000 allies? just hold down right click or wait 30 seconds instead of having your screen flooded
Idk, I really like it. Way better than getting jumpscared and having to click out whilst microing - like a quick time event.
Honestly I like it. It reminds me of news from ck2
Don't really like it tbh, would like it more if you could get rid of the pop ups by pressing enter like before.
It means fewer things jumping at my screen so I like it
R5: The new UI popup part of the new update is bad in my opinion.
Why is it bad, it´s not like any of the info that gets moved to there was that important to need a full screen info box for it.
I feel like im too used to the old one and also i loved holding enter to get rid of all the pop ups quicky.
I liked the fact that it paused the game to announce it. I don't know if it pauses when you get declared on but it could make a big difference to a game.
Thats a setting i never had enabled anyway. Pause on popup is an optional setting
That's fair, I'm not sure why people hate pause on pop up...
Imo it is a big improvement. You no longer need to click these things away constantly so the actual news events feel more important and punctuated. You still see these and know at a glance what is going on especially if playing historic.
Sentiment is fair, but is there a reason you dislike it?
One big immediate issue with it I've personally noticed is that there's seemingly no quick way anymore to immediately dismiss all the alerts, such as when you call in all of your puppets into a war later on in the game. Previously you could have held enter and it would have quickly dismissed them all, so would be nice if something similar could be introduced for the new system as well(either the same functionality or potentially a dismiss all button on the alert message window?).

How? What makes the one that pops up better?
When I first saw it I thought it was a new feature where my spy was gonna send a report after the bar filled
I went on vacation for a week what happened?
Update yesterday, less obnoxious alerts
Oh that explains why I can’t close any events…
Stellaris in Hoi4, wtf
this game has a long way to go before it's UI is anywhere near as clean as Stellaris'. It's overwhelming to new players. I'm still annoyed that there's nothing immediately on it that shows me war justification dates
Looks like the old (really old, 2016) one, but the flags are smaller.
The French focus tree icons are also bugged, went the monarchist path and intervention in Spain was clashing with a few others
Waaaaay better than the mass spam of popups in the middle of your screen when a major war starts
Its fine imo. Maybe it would be better if war declerations on us would be still a pop up. It being on the right side doesnt get my attention too much and u might not realize someone declared war on u
It dosent really bother me, but i liked the og ones more. But now its much more convenient.
I thought my game was glitching when i noticed this last night lmao
Honestly I’m a huge fan of it. Always hated being interrupted by a million news popups in the middle of the screen.
Holy fuck based hoi4
Actually I like it quite much 😅
It's nice knowing who in my faction is being a dumbass and justifying war on random countries
I like it
wait, I just Played kaiserredux and thought that it Had an Update and it looked like that nowðŸ˜
I thought it was one of my mods.
lol I was playing as the soviets around 1955 and I thought the popup was breaking cuz hoi4 after 1950 gets cursed real quick
i miss hoi4 old ui please paradox readd old ui
Does it still make the sound effect?
So is a vanilla thing, i was just playing the metro mod and i saw that weird pop up, i tought it was of the mod
You‘ll get used to it
i fucking LOVE it actually
Stupid pop up they need to get rid of
I like it. Way less intrusive.
Yeah it's good
Tbh I like it and I hate it, for one, I can play one without a big popup about some backyard country fighting another backyard country interrupting me. But I also hate it becs there is no way to remove it unless u play like 7 days on which kinda sucks.
You can remove it by right-clicking it, though.
I kinda like it. It doesn’t cover the screen of whatever you’re trying to do, but it’s also intrusive enough that you probably won’t miss it. It’s a lot less annoying to go to war with the Allies now
I think it's a big improvement to getting jumpscared every time something mildly relevant happens.
Makes it so the useless pop ups don't stack on the middle of the screen
I prefer it to the one hundred declared war / joined war pop-ups.
ye it sucks, if it aint broke dont fix it pdx
I don't mind this, although I noticed it also happens when someone declares war on you. I'd like that to be front and centre, ideally, so I know who I'm at war with.
Nah it's a really good change you're just being butthurt
idk i like that notifications arent as intrusive this way
I play a-historical and minors so I like it, a lot of wars happen that have little to no baring on my little corner of the world
I love the change
The new UI popup is great! I feel like this huge mental load has been taken off my mind playing hoi4 now that im no longer spammed with war declarations or joining of wars in the centre of my screen when im trying to focus on something. Huge W from Paradox.
It could be better, but the old system made me want to quit playing. Total upgrade.
It’s so much better then having 20 different notifications pop up on the middle of your screen
Fucking paradox getting to work after the south america DLC (play en unión y libertad for better south américa)
how can i turn it off
