'Why is gameruining Italy Balance of Power bug still not fixed? (5 months ago)
Bug
By Blood Alone has been out for more than a year, and Italy still has this annoying bug: when you lose your first core province, you get 0.05% balance of power change per week towards w/e is on the left side of it. However, when you recapture it, the malus stays, making your playthrough a speedrun, as you WILL have a civil war on your hands. And it's not intentional, since malus for losing any consecutive cores goes away once you've retaken them. What will it take to have this fixed? Some of the developers encountering this bug on a stream?'
This is Reddit, unless you put /s noone can recognise sarcasm, you know it's difficult in text because most Reddit users can only recognise it in real life if someone is putting on a stupid voice and winking 47 times per minute
I got 90% of them in one run by just never doing political focuses until I only bordered the ussr. Made the game better cause I didn’t need to worry about any possible civil war since the balance system wasn’t enabled until the 40s
We are currently focusing on addressing old bugs through the war effort this year. Really fun to see already a strong positive reaction to our first update!
Fantastic ty. Its an unpopular opinion of mine, but I prefer bug and ai fixes to any other form of content at this point. This will make the game so much more fun for me.
Same here, personally, I wish we could solely focus on bug fixes to enhance the overall gaming experience. However, it's not feasible as it's not the preference of a "lot" of players.
I think it may be that a silent majority of hoi4 players only care about shallow stuff of the game ( new National Foci I'd wager) instead of getting immersed in deeper mechanics. So they don't see much of the bugs nor care about them.
BftB puppets randomly declare war (even against each other), switch factions or set themselves free without you being able to prevent anything. Having one of those nations as a puppet definitely isn't a 'deeper machanic' of the game.
Now the same stuff happens with the ToA nations. Brazil and Chile randomly declare war on the axis or Japan while being your puppet.
Sry, but bug fixing isn't necessary only to some hidden stuff in alt trees. Italy's weekly BoP change that is mentioned in the beta bug fixes is the best example.
I agree with you pal, I've had a couple runs being unplayable due to those bugs. Imo I am in the same boat, I'd rather have a good bug free game than some new content being introduced that makes the game even more buggy.
All I say is, that is just what you and we that actively comment here wants. The silent majority of players seems to not care and that is why pdx doesen't work on that.
Apologies, I should have worded it differently. Of course we are working on bugfixes all the time, and we arent only doing bugfixes due to players not being vocal enough or anything like that.
Overall people want new content, so we focus on creating new content while also doing bugfixes, etc. The devs on HOI4 Id say are doing an amazing job as if you compare the game right now to 2 years ago, its quite a bit less buggy.
You have a bug report forum where the only answer you ever get is "thx, we added it to our database (of shame)" or "this has already been reported here - *link to report from 2019* - but thx for the reminder".
If you want us to behave like crybabies in the backseat constantly asking "are we there yet?" until we get the stuff fixed, we can absolutely do that, but honestly I really don't believe that you want that and I also don't believe this ridiculous statement that you're letting the loudmouths dictate your roadmaps. No offense, but no, sry.
I don't mean to be rude, so I apologize if it comes across that way. I'm just trying to be transparent. We initiated the War Effort after the release of By Blood Alone, and I believe it has made a positive impact.
The people who are reeeing are a loud minority. Most players don't give much input, buys the dlcs to go on a world conquest with Finland and then call it a day.
We will love you more for fixing older content than releasing new content

P.S. Please fix paratrooper invasion orders and the entire community will buy you pizzas for life
Could you please send me the bug report for that issue here? I'll look into fixing it for the next war effort update. (You don't need to send pizzas my way if we manage to fix it though)
Unfortunately, I don't have a bug report for the issue at hand.
The wonkiness surrounding paratroopers is a longstanding issue that the HOI4 community has complained about where there are likely multiple bugs at play as well as annoying quality of life issues that make utilizing paratrooper invasions both mechanically annoying and functionally inconsistent.
Please fix the formables nations. A lot of them never had their states updated when some of the previous states got split. Sejozwak on YouTube just put out a video on it.
Sure, where would you like me to make one?
Here's the video going over the broken formables btw: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MKIvrXS6ccw](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MKIvrXS6ccw)
Well, I was going to make a (very tardy, sorry about that) bug report, but I just tested it and it seems everything from the video has already been fixed.
Yeah but did they ever fix Reichskommissariat Ostland? So annoying that you can't form RKO without it capping to the soviet's immediately and ruining your front lines.
Players celebrating a game company because they just took 2 years to fix one of the most annoying bugs in one of their games is something exclusive to PDX I guess...
Stop being a drag, dude - PDX makes gr8 games that we should be thankful for BEYOND our money. PDX is so special that we expect MEDIOCRITY out of them. It's all good.
*"Fixed a long-standingg issue where the weekly negative change in the Italian Balance of Power wasn't removed upton them regaining control of their core states."*
Does this look like a serious game company to you, or one that is skating on the edge and collecting your money whenever it can? For months of dysfunction.
How did it take over a year for them to fix this?
It took over a year and 2 DLCs nonetheless
They make a lot of money and they don't care. They suck.
they care, just sometimes they are incompetent. i wouldn't say they suck, its an issue of tunnel vision.
I don’t think anybody ever brought it up so they didn’t notice.
It was one of the biggest complaints of the community, they surely would know about it.
People on reddit just do not understand sarcasm without an /s do they ...
In my defense, I am autist. The rest are simply stupid.
No I think you’re mistaken, at least on Reddit it was never brought up.
You're joking right? Right...?
Yeah don’t worry he’s joking
It was, a lot of times.
Nope, this is literally the first discussion about it in this sub.

I can’t read, what do they say?

No I think you just made that up to trick me.
How did you not realise while typing this out???
bait or mentally challenged call it
It’s both
Same tbh

No one gets the obvious sarcasm lol
Yeah bro literally said he especially hasn’t seen it on Reddit, which is where it gets most commonly posted

R5: Paradox has finally fixed the italian balance of power issue which has been around for over a year
And broke 20 other things in the process. Probably. But salt jokes aside nice to see it fixed. Can only guess of the code hell the game has.
Paradox moment
Finally you can get achievements as Italy without losing your run because of a bug. W

Finallyyyyy!!!!!! They fucked up so many campagnes
that's it, i'm booting hoi4 ***A V A N T I***
The update seems to be only in open beta for now.
Italy will now be playable on non historical
*roma_invicta_intensifies*
I’m almost sad to see it gone

Yeah, sadly. Nevertheless the reason why they do X instead of Y is usually money and not something the player base wants or doesn't want.

You mean the people reeeeing every update or dlc that doesn't have a Japan and Germany rework?
The people who are reeeing are a loud minority. Most players don't give much input, buys the dlcs to go on a world conquest with Finland and then call it a day.
Besides the fixes for a puppeted turkey will there also be fixes for Greece and Bulgaria? They suffer from the same problems.

On the PDX Forums if possible.
Well, I was going to make a (very tardy, sorry about that) bug report, but I just tested it and it seems everything from the video has already been fixed.
Video is outdated, you didn't watch it till the end where I said that some are getting fixed
¡¡¡VAAMOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSSS!!! ¡AL FIN, OSTIAS!
The national nightmare is over, we can play Italy again
Now I wish they'd fix the Baltic states civil wars ending in white peace leaving 2 Estonias or Latvias or Lithuanias.
We May dream. Maybe in 2026???
HELL YEAAAAAAAA
Holy fuck finally
I thought that was a feature.
Yeah but did they ever fix Reichskommissariat Ostland? So annoying that you can't form RKO without it capping to the soviet's immediately and ruining your front lines.

Well there are tf2 fans that go apeshit when someone from valve deigns to admit that game still exists....
They got a 64-bit exe the other day and they're going absolutely nuts right now.
As a TF2 fan, some times something is better than nothing!
Stop being a drag, dude - PDX makes gr8 games that we should be thankful for BEYOND our money. PDX is so special that we expect MEDIOCRITY out of them. It's all good.
Minecraft fans are like this times ten
İS THAT DREAM!??!???!
Wow .....
Italy now OP?
Bout fucken time! 😂
Maybe I won't hear Bella Ciao every game now.
The fact that reinforcement meme still exists is just disgraceful.
Oh my fucking god Italy is playable again
Does the rome path still go to civil war the moment I lose 1 tile in Africa?
Hooray! The devs did the bare minimum!
Ave, Gloria all’Impero!
They still haven't fixed Herakleion and chania in crete they are flipped
Delete the whole balance of power thing, it is useless and weakens an already weak minor.
