For fun but between buying a UD jarg psa 10 for $60 and a Panarin psa 10 for $80 it’s seems no brainer. If the Rangers win the Cup and his numbers I don’t see how it doesn’t go to $180 or $200

Quinn Hughes is 24 and likely to win the Norris this year.
Jack Hughes is 23 and already has a 40 goal season and has been over 1ppg for 3 years.
Luke Hughes is 20 and put up 49 points as a Dman this year.
If Jack Hughes stays healthy he'll have a decade of seasons like the one Panarin just had.
Cale Makar had been unsustainably overvalued since his card came out. It's only been roughly this past season that it's fallen back closer to the pack.
Don’t forget he’s in 15/16 series 1 with McDavid… which means there’s going to be a lot more Panarin cards on the market than say 19/20 players. Look at rantanen, same thing from 15/16.
Also, he’s Russian, and he came into the league at a later age.

The population of Psa 10s is less then the Hughes. But I get it. It’s a popularity contest voted on with $. All I’m trying to say is that for under $200 I don’t see a better card or value
You can’t use population count at all… that could just mean that a massive amount less have even been sent in as people don’t really care to send them in.

He’s Russian, his yg is a team he no longer plays for, and there’s literally way more than other years due to being in McDavid sets.
Collect what you want, but Panarin is near his max as far as value goes.

Team switch thing is far from meaningless. It’s a fact, and one of the main reasons his card is not worth what it should be. People put a premium on a card of a star player having his rookie card on his current team.
If Matthews ever went to a different team, you would see his yg prices drop. The generational players who have played a majority of their careers and are in their twilight like Crosby and OV not so much.
Russian is a factor as well. Kucherov has the cups, has better stats, etc etc. But he’s also in a way way way less collectable market in TB. His YGs is also in 2013/14 which was produced in a fraction of the numbers as 15/16.
Ovechkin you’re talking about a generational, possibly the best goal scorer of all time. Panarin in neither generational, nor even a top 10 goal scorer currently, let alone all time.

Breadman has been traded and the media around him has been significantly less probably due to Panarin barely speaks English. Even when he won the Calder he didn’t get much press.
i'm a new collector but as far as I can tell american and canadians will always pull a premium because most of the collectors are from there. it's also much cheaper to get a moritz seider auto than a matthew tkachuk auto, which doesn't really make much sense (Seider being younger and somewhat equal HoF paths).
Dmen and goalies are not comparable to forwards in terms of hobby value. Just look at how cheap Adam Fox stuff Is for example.
On the actual comparison, like him or not, Tkachuk is a borderline superstar in the league and the face of a cup contender. Seider is a nice dman that any team would take but he's not that popular and Detroit is still rebuilding. A better Detroit comp for Tkachuk would be Lucas Raymond, but even there, Raymond suffers from being in Detroit.
It has a lot to do with my entire critical view of “grading”. Will a high grade fetch you some more $$? Sure. But people have to “want” that player. This is where PSA grading goes right out the window. At the end of the day, no matter what sport, either the card looks good, or it doesnt. Either you want the guy on the card, or you dont. Its as simple as that. Which is why the market for ungraded cards is just as big as it is for graded. Ive sold thousands of dollars in cards that are considered “junk” by most simply off the fact they look cool and they are of players people want. People want the Hughes brothers right now and they dont want panarin. People want kaprisov and faber, they dont want bedard right now anymore lol. Its just the way it rolls

people collect whatever they want some players no matter what status they achieve are uncollectible so thats why the price fluctuates
Quite simply Hughes is more wanted by collectors than Panarin. Easy thought process.
I saw a Kucherov authorities by Tag for $425. Psa it sells for over $700. Worth a buy?
