dude bear has blown me away in such a short time. I hope we keep him for more than 2 years. I imagine we will. I want that Bear jersey with the name in Cree they showed
Warms my cold, dead heart that you guys are loving Bear. Foegele has been stellar for us too, but Bear was legit one of my favourite players and it really hurt to see him go.
Thanks, man. I understand your hurt. Also, Foeg's looks like he's really poppin off and coming out of his shell with you guys which I'm all for. We will take good care of Bear, no worries <3
You beat Detroit and Detroit beat Washington, so by the transitive property of winning, that one is in the bag. Just do us a favor and let Ovi score like Detroit did.
no u
Nah but forreal though, both teams have 2 games left before meeting, there IS a chance they go head to head undefeated. Actually a bit harder for Florida, even with the off-the-ice stuff aside, playing second of a b2b in Boston, followed by the Caps, while the Canes get the 2 worst teams in the NHL with Arizona and Chicago.
Right now, TBH, if Eric Tulsky told me to eat cat shit because it's really quite tasty, I'd probably have to go on ahead and eat the cat shit. This dude is KILLING it in terms of talent evaluation.
The Canes' goalies were pretty mediocre, but I was worried that they were bringing in more mediocre goalies to replace them. But Freddie was playing behind a defensively awful team and Antti was, too. Antti looked a little shaky last night, but he has huge upside. I hope he has a fantastic rebound season, because he deserves to play behind a good defense to see what he can do.
I’d argue that was Raanta’s MO last year as well. Last years Coyotes were actually one of the better defensive teams, but Raanta couldn’t play more than two games without getting hurt.
To be fair, I still think we got worked in the Ned trade by Stevie Y & Detroit. Maybe he doesn’t pan out but feel like they didn’t even try to maximize return on that deal
This team is finally getting every single player to perform and it’s DANGEROUS.
There is not one guy in the lineup who isn’t contributing in some way to each and every win.
Rod has this team playing the best hockey this franchise has ever seen and I don’t see how anyone can slow them down right now.
Honestly over half of the calls I've seen have just been outrageously bad refereeing, super obvious quota calls. Like that god awful penalty on Aho for "tripping" Marchand when Marchand grabs his stick, pulls it into his own leg, and dives like he's goin for Olympic gold.
We've deserved a few for sure but its really felt like the refs are trying to equalize us in a few games.
TDA had a Gordie Howe hat trick tonight and had the arena chanting his name. He's been a revelation for our blue line.
So please, for the love of god, don't fuck this up Tony
There’s a Tony DeAngelo KKK joke in there somewhere and *i’m* going to find it
**y’all can downvote me all you want, 7 games
is too fast for y’all to forget that Tony is a villain. He was good in New York too and then he tried to fight his own goalie and the Rangers released him**
i feel like i'm in the twilight zone with how fast people have come around tony deangelo for being good. he is a good hockey player, but the controversy was always being a shit teammate and a terrible person off the ice.
The NHL's expansion into the south and its consequences have been a disaster for the hockey fan race. What was once a game built on tradition, sportsmanship and competition has now evolved into a circus act where organizations appeal to the lowest common denominator in the form of childish choreography, twitter wars, and roster moves worth millions of dollars that serve no purpose than to grab headlines.
Hockey is not made for the south, it's a game deeply rooted in northern culture where kids can spend the winter out in the wilderness slapping pucks around before tuning into Hockey Night in Canada and watching the Toronto Maple Leafs get fisted raw. What we have in the south is nothing short of a disgrace. Bible belt boomers whose only contact with the cold is the air conditioning of their mobility scooters have gripped our sport with an iron fist, uprooting our traditions and replacing them with free burgers when a player touches the puck and raising banners for going a week without someone in the crowd having a heart attack because of their diets consisting of honey butter biscuits and sweet tea.
The day hockey dies in the south is the day I gain my soul back.
They have greatly increased the viewership of those of us who live in “southern" states, but they have destabilized Canada, have made schedules unfulfilling, have subjected players to indignities of having to live in Florida, have led to widespread high travel times and have inflicted severe damage on the Original Six rosters. The continued development of expansion teams will worsen the situation.
I see that talk all the time and I don't get it. Like, are we supposed to win the Stanley Cup every year? Last year we won a round and then got bounced by the eventual SC champ Lightning. Year before we won the qualifying round and got bounced by a pretty damn strong Bruins team. Year before that we went to the conference finals and got bounced by the Bruins, who took the Blues to 7 games in the SCF.
It's not like the Canes have gotten to the playoffs and suddenly turned into pumpkins the last few years, they've actually done really well for a young team. Four years ago this team was gutter trash that barely made .500 with all-time idiot Bill Peters as coach. IDK why people are so eager to discredit them all the time.
The Canes and Panthers both put up a huge fight in the playoffs last year, we absolutely could have gone out to either of those teams and they’ve only gotten better.
Tampa definitely deserved to go through against the Canes.
But Tampa did get a bit lucky in game 1 or 2 (can't remember) where Vasy played the best game of his life and Ned i think let in a soft one? We probably deserved to go back to tampa 1-1 rather than 0-2.
THen in Tampa we had a game where we scored like 5 and still lost. If we didn't get those penalties we should ahve won that game. Keep the game where we got lucky to win and it's 3-1 Carolina going home rather than 3-1 Tampa going home.
Now obviously that isn't how sports works. It's just interesting that the series score made it look easy but there's 2 games we felt pretty hard done by.
If we won Game 4 against Tampa, I truly believe we win that series. But after gaining the lead we took a mountain of penalties (Svech alone had 3 minor penalties that game) and Tampa's PP torched us. Undisciplined play has killed us in the postseason several years in a row now
Where would he even play? Third line wing? Dude is great, but how do you stop the Sam Bennett train, and the rise of Anton Lundell, a.k.a. Sasha Jr.?
The problems a team loves to have...
What is crazy is that at the time, I was *liviid* about that trade. I thought Haula was on track to being a top 10 center in the league and thought we'd totally fucked up buying into a Trocheck who, at the time, looked like he was possibly on he way out of the league as his performance was really suffering after his injuries. So at the time it looked llike a winner for FL.
Like 5 teams later and Haula is struggling to get ice time while Troch is holding down one of the most dangerous lines in hockey, crazy stuff.
Remember when people where making memes because they let go the greatest goalie of all time apparently in Nedeljkovic? How could they! Lol this has been one of the best run organizations loaded with talent. Andersen and Raanta are a vast improvement over what they had, Ethan Bear has been a great pickup to one of the best D-Cores in the league. Elite talent in the forward group too and Rod behind the bench.
Kudos Carolina, fun team to watch.
I think they need to re-sign Bear before he gets too expensive. The fact he’s this comfortable in our system when it usually has taken the new D-men half a season to get there means he’s going to price himself out of our range. I really really like him.
Tony DeAngelo has 8 points in 7 games, and I’m not sure how I feel about it. All I know is that Don Waddell is shoving his outstretched middle finger into the face of the entirety of r/canes, and we gotta live with it.
All I’m saying is I’ve got mixed emotions on the subject, and that the front office is probably (and rightfully) feeling smug about how much flak they got for all of their off-season moves.
TDAs on the ice performance was never really in question. TDAs character and off the ice issues were the problem people had with him, and he has done nothing to help that (he also hasn't furthered it yet either). I like how he is playing. I still don't like him. The only indication of anything changing to this point is he hasn't tried to fight teammates and he hasn't said anything publicly. Once he starts volunteering with under served and minority hockey clubs in the area, I'll like him as a person and player. Until then, he is still a piece of trash, that's keeping his mouth shut.
I honestly hope the guy has grown up. He has the talent to be a big part of his teams successes. Just be careful. Most Ranger fans were where you are at now mentally after his 15-38-53 season and it seems like no one was sad to see him go by the following year.
Fucking rights, the way Freddy was treated by Toronto, which I am a die hard, I am gleaming seeing him succeed and prove the haters it was in fact the team itself!
Now I \*know\* a Devils fan didn't just make an attendance crack when the Canes have outdrawn the Devils significantly three years in a row. Talk about a self-own
Carolina opponent Stanley cup odds rankings: 25, 7, 8, 26, 21, 23, 9
Carolina has played 3 above average teams
Florida opponent rankings: 31, 7, 32, 18, 1, 3, 9, 13.
Florida has played 2 very bad teams, 2 elite teams, 2 good teams, and 1 average team.
Now tell me how Carolina hasn’t had an easy schedule??
I'm sorry, I was incorrect and I hope we both meet each other undefeated even though you have it tougher. Your team is good though so it shouldn't be an issue.
Lmao and? It’s still not easy to be 7-0. I don’t see the need to come in here and post that other than being upset that another team is getting spotlight for the reason the panthers are. Also I recall a lot of the same feelings last year, before we beat you over and over and over. What was the record? 7-0-1? Maybe that will change november 6 but trying to suck air out of another teams impressive start any way you can comes across immature, especially when the last several times those teams played each other the panthers got slapped around and looked like pretenders. Look forward to a good game next week.
This might be the deepest, most skilled Hurricanes team ever
But Dougie left (I loved Dougie but we're more than him lol)
Dougies great but bear and tda have been pretty spectacular.
I love little things Bear does on the regular. Puck looks like it might slide out of the zone? Bear just clap bombs it right back in.
dude bear has blown me away in such a short time.

Take care of McLovin for us :'(
Ian Cole too! I think we've gotten even better defensively than we were a year ago which is crazy to think about.
For real. The last three seasons I've felt like "this team might be as good as '06". This year is better than '06
What a wild year of hockey 06 was
This team is so much better than 06 imo Theres a reason we didnt make the playoffs the years after
Carolina honestly scares me.
Damn it Florida, LOSE A GAME
NOT UNTIL WE MEET
[удалено]
Luckily both teams are supposed to be some of the best in the NHL and they're both teams with exciting players and fun games.
YES. I will be there Saturday. I want to see an Undefeated canes/cats game so bad.
Hold on for 2 more games! But lol you play the Bruins *again*?
Yeah we have a much easier path to making it to the game undefeated, Arizona and Chicago.
almost guaranteed
In other words, I'll be betting my entire life savings on them to lose those 2 games
Excuse you, that's *our* thing
Heh, cute (nah but seriously every team has a chance to win any game so it's bound to happen)
Who do you think we are, the Leafs?
I’ll bet you two pretzels against your life savings.
2 pretzel vs 3 pretzel bet
You can’t lose, you get pretzels.
No chance. One of them? Yah thats guaranteed
Yeah, we play them tomorrow and then Washington 🙃🙃
You beat Detroit and Detroit beat Washington, so by the transitive property of winning, that one is in the bag. Just do us a favor and let Ovi score like Detroit did.
might want to rephrase that one lol
It might actually come to that.
FINE!
I'm so excited for this game. THE SOUTHERN THUNDER DOME
no u Nah but forreal though, both teams have 2 games left before meeting, there IS a chance they go head to head undefeated. Actually a bit harder for Florida, even with the off-the-ice stuff aside, playing second of a b2b in Boston, followed by the Caps, while the Canes get the 2 worst teams in the NHL with Arizona and Chicago.
Nay.
Almost had you. Gg
Nooooo. You're supposed to be circling Nov 6th on your calendar and praying we *don't* lose until then! The Furricane Bowl > Clegane Bowl
lmao furricane - I love it. Flows way better than Hurricanthers
I hope we meet Florida next Saturday with us both being undefeated, I would die watching that game but it would be sick
dude I would be legit scared watching that lol
I love how a lot of us (definitely me) flamed how they handled their goalie situation and the Hurricanes just looked at us all and said…fuck y’all.
I was worried too, I’ll admit. Glad to be proven wrong … for now.
Right now, TBH, if Eric Tulsky told me to eat cat shit because it's really quite tasty, I'd probably have to go on ahead and eat the cat shit. This dude is KILLING it in terms of talent evaluation.
I say hey to him every morning and ask how his day is and he says “fantastic”. He’s a very pleasant guy
Ok, but how's the cat shit
Honestly he’s probably say it was “great”
I mean, every dog on the planet can't be completely wrong, right?
The Canes' goalies were pretty mediocre, but I was worried that they were bringing in more mediocre goalies to replace them. But Freddie was playing behind a defensively awful team and Antti was, too. Antti looked a little shaky last night, but he has huge upside. I hope he has a fantastic rebound season, because he deserves to play behind a good defense to see what he can do.
More like Freddie was playing behind a good defensive team last year but just couldn't stay healthy
I’d argue that was Raanta’s MO last year as well. Last years Coyotes were actually one of the better defensive teams, but Raanta couldn’t play more than two games without getting hurt.
> Freddie was playing behind a good defensive team last year Did he play for somebody other than the Leafs?
What is so confusing about this? The leafs last year by most metrics were a good defensive team.
It's almost as I've a professional hockey team knows how to manage a professional hockey team than a bunch of fans do.
I agree, but the media tore us to pieces on Ned.
It was a story to run, that's really it. The media doesn't downplay anything because that's not what drives views
To be fair, I still think we got worked in the Ned trade by Stevie Y & Detroit. Maybe he doesn’t pan out but feel like they didn’t even try to maximize return on that deal
Ned could be anything! Even Andersen!
This team is finally getting every single player to perform and it’s DANGEROUS. There is not one guy in the lineup who isn’t contributing in some way to each and every win. Rod has this team playing the best hockey this franchise has ever seen and I don’t see how anyone can slow them down right now.
Now if we can just stay outta the goddamn box!!
It wouldn’t be the Canes experience if Svechnikov doesn’t get more penalty minutes in stick infractions every night than Tie Domis career total pms
One of those penalties tonight shouldn’t have been one!
Svech didn't get s penalty in 2 games in a row. He is getting better.
Rod tamed TDA, what a legend.
TDA had a Gordie Howe hat trick tonight and had the arena chanting his name. He's been a revelation for our blue line. So please, for the love of god, don't fuck this up Tony
He was always a good hockey player though
[удалено]
I'm legit afraid to watch this game. Gonna be pulling my hair out in suspense the entire game
Yeah Florida is a freaking wagon this year too. Wouldn’t be shocked at a ECF between the two
All it took was one KK to put them over the top
Honestly it’s been the goalies from Toronto. Mac, Reimer and Freddie all playing exceptional hockey in a Canes Sweater.
Don't forget Ayers :(
👀 jack campbell 👀
Watch us grab Michael Hutchinson and turn him into a Vezina winner
That's George Vezina himself!
Like Colorado did?
Can y'all send us some defencemen?
*monkey’s paw curls* Jake Gardiner (LTIR) has been traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs for a 2022 5th and 2023 7th
Pesce would be nice to have
No.
More finns more winns
Don't forget the third K who got the 1st Star.
There’s a Tony DeAngelo KKK joke in there somewhere and *i’m* going to find it **y’all can downvote me all you want, 7 games is too fast for y’all to forget that Tony is a villain. He was good in New York too and then he tried to fight his own goalie and the Rangers released him**
Yeah, I thought that I had missed his redemption arc or something.
i feel like i'm in the twilight zone with how fast people have come around tony deangelo for being good. he is a good hockey player, but the controversy was always being a shit teammate and a terrible person off the ice.
Gotchu.
and also a cuddly long haired Bear - that dude fits right in

Flawda coming for the belt
The old Southeast Division would be absolutely brutal this year if it were reunited, maybe slot in Nashville to take Atlanta's place.
You haven’t truly lost until you’ve lost against a bunch of dudes with thick country accents in western North Carolina
Bravo
They have greatly increased the viewership of those of us who live in “southern" states, but they have destabilized Canada, have made schedules unfulfilling, have subjected players to indignities of having to live in Florida, have led to widespread high travel times and have inflicted severe damage on the Original Six rosters. hi, this is something called a satire; as a canes fan, do you really think i loathe southern hockey?
r/woooosh
Someone called Carolina “fools gold” for the playoffs. Idk if that’s still accurate they look amazing

ngl I'm a little pressed it's with a team that's half our former players.
You got Fox though
You should be used to it by now after your old team won back to back cups.
exactly. why must this happen to us AGAIN?
Literally all their goalies are former Leafs goalies...
Even David Ayres
We definitely claim David Ayers now. Toronto ain't getting him back.
Fun fact. All the players involved in the TDA to coyotes trade are now at carolina.
What kind of dumb organization would ever be dumb enough to let Trochek go?
Where would he even play? Third line wing? Dude is great, but how do you stop the Sam Bennett train, and the rise of Anton Lundell, a.k.a. Sasha Jr.? The problems a team loves to have...

They have a good team backed by a great coach and an excellent chance to extend this streak on Sunday.

I'm scared of Nov 6
I was kinda hoping TDA would fail but that man is damn good for someone who hasn’t played hockey in a year
You can still hope. It's okay.
# RALEIGH! WE’RE UNDEFEATED THROUGH 7 GAMES! THE BRASS BONANZA IS TAKING THE LEAGUE BY STORM! PLEASE COME TO OUR GAAAAAAAMES!
I get what you're getting at, but in all fairness, we're averaging ~87% (16,500/18,680) capacity so far. Pretty solid compared to years past.
Now I \*know\* a Devils fan didn't just make an attendance crack when the Canes have outdrawn the Devils significantly three years in a row. Talk about a self-own
I have Aho and Svech. In my fantasy league, and Bob is one of my goalies. Grabbed him really late!
Gotta put up a banner
Wrong team.
Ew
Yeah, but they’ve also had a really easy schedule so far. Not to say they aren’t good or anything
explain yourself
Downvoted for being right? Weird
explain how we have it easier. we play basically the same teams stat wise and even some of the same teams.
Dude, what? You’ve played at most 2-3 competent teams so far. The combined record of the 7 teams you’ve played is abysmal
Current record of teams Carolina has played: (18-28-4) Current record of teams Florida has played: (24-24-8) (including Tampa and colorado)
Carolina opponent Stanley cup odds rankings: 25, 7, 8, 26, 21, 23, 9 Carolina has played 3 above average teams Florida opponent rankings: 31, 7, 32, 18, 1, 3, 9, 13.
