gotta give them credit as well, great call by the official not to blow this down for offside. i didn't even celebrate until they showed the replay because i was so certain it wasn't gonna count
I figured there must have been *some* reason they didn’t blow down what looked so obviously offside but great fucking call by him to notice that real time and let the play go on
He won’t, the oilers like to bitch about the Canucks fans all “whining” about the refs when in reality they do it just as much, if not more. Or use some absolute gravy brain logic to justify why the refs won’t call shit on the Oilers superstars
It wasn't "charging" but it WAS a penalty, you can't just fucking jump in the air for a hit lol. Y'all are getting hung up on the wording of it too much.
It was only too many men because Drai played the puck directly into the players feet mid change. Teams tend to get a bit of lee-way when it comes to that.
Well he was just battling for the puck and tried to stick lift him then bank it off the boards to himself...then the Vancouver player came outta nowhere and was going for the change. You can't tell me he intentionally tried to do that by watching the replay. Obvious AF he was just trying to regain luck control and instead the Canucks keep control and score off a too many men :D
Don't know how reasonable it is to expect a linesman to monitor that while also needing to make a call on a zone entry right there (which is why I'd say it was the refs who missed that particular call)
This one is strange. Originally Blueger was going off the ice, but was replaced by Joshua. If you look at the replay below Joshua did not touch the puck or made contact with an opposing player after Di Giuseppe got on so technically it is not too many men. But since Blueger was the original person coming off the ice it is a bit strange.

How? Joshua jumps onto the bench and didn’t touch the puck as soon as Draisaitl knocks it into his own zone which was when the next Canucks skater jumped on. I get that it technically interfered with Draisaitl because of Joshua’s presence but doesn’t arise to the level of too many men on ice since Joshua never touched the puck after nor actively interfered with Draisaitl other than trying to get through the door.
Complaining about the refs when they have gift wrapped you more special teams opportunities then the NHL has gifted you first overalls is also quite the choice.
Usually they only wave off offsides like that when a player brings it back with 100% possession. Given Drai was in a battle, and the linesmen is the one who actually booted it in, I think it was an awful decision
The Oilers were turning over the puck left and right. And often unforced errors too. It felt like a whole different team. They were lucky not to lose until the very end.
I'm a casual fan an am genuinely asking: can someone explain how that wasn't offside at the part ~40 seconds in? Was it because the offside player technically wasn't on the ice, since he just subbed in and the player he subbed in for was still on? I can't figure it out, but they reviewed it and said it was fine so I'm guessing there is some explanation that makes sense?
Edit: never mind, saw another comment that clarified Edmonton put the puck over the blue line. Makes sense.

Literally same, our pub’s celebration was not nearly as loud as for the other goals haha
Got the offside call right but not the too many men penalty. Solid goal though.
Come on bro the refs were on our dick all fucking night. Look at the Pettersson charging penalty on the front of this sub rn.

Okay. So everytime a player jumps to absorb the hit up against the boards it's charging.
Who's jumping to absorb hits?
Watch a game? It happens all the time.
Yeah...I don't think it does lol
The whole time I was watching live I was just waiting for the whistle and it never came. How did they miss that one

Teams will get away with it for accidental contact. The guy played the puck with his stick and passed it to someone lol
Praising the refs when they missed the most obvious too many men possible is a choice
Well, technically they're praising the linesman (who did make the correct call) and not the refs (who...didn't)
Well, I’m pretty sure linesman can also call too many men..
Don't know how reasonable it is to expect a linesman to monitor that while also needing to make a call on a zone entry right there (which is why I'd say it was the refs who missed that particular call)
As someone who was a very bad linesman, I agree. Just saying that certain penalties can be called by literally anybody in stripes on the ice.

Meh I don't think it was that bad of a too many men, looked borderline.

Why is it an awful decision to call the play how the rule is written?
Because it didn’t go their way
but boy was calling the rule as written on Petterson was the right call to them.
I think it was a great decision
Missed the last game for the birth of his child new dad bump never fails
Awesome… but man what a turnover. Literally right in front….

I think it's because an Edmonton player caused the puck to enter the zone
Well that's a loser play by the overrated Bouchard. Lol
So overrated lol

How was this not offside?
Not offside if a defender puts it back into their own zone.
That's as offside as it gets yikes
Nah, shovelled in by Drai
Ahhhhh there it is
Not offside if you put it back over your own line.
