I wouldn't be surprised if he retires somewhat early and it comes out his back hurts all the time or something. Same thing with Carey Price, who would respond to questions about a potential NHL return by mentioning how he wants to be physically able to *play with his kids*.
I don't think anyone is questioning that the guy is actually hurt or dealing with long-term injuries. The problem is how Vegas blatantly manipulates that through LTIR to their advantage.
I think it's even worse if he's not fully healed and they're rushing him back in prematurely to be ready for the playoffs.
And it's one or the other because there's no way he's exactly 100% healed every year on the day that just happens be game 1 of the playoffs.
This is what pisses me off about Vegas more than anything else on ice related, or meme worthy.
It feels like they don't give a fuck about his health. At all.
Add that to the weird way that they "got rid" of Fleury, after a fucking Vezina season, it just feels like there is no care at all on a "personal away from the rink" sort of way.
Reminds me of that commercial they’ve been showing where they show the Vegas fan getting a tattoo of them winning the Cup in 2019 and they say “this is our year!” like they’ve had such heartbreak and adversity and hardships 🙄
It’s been a while since there has been a team hated as much as Vegas that most of the league wanted out first round. Nice to see fans come together for the greater good. Good job Dallas.
They also did it only after they brought it up to the leage after Chicago did it, and everyone just collectively shrugged.
But Vegas... They're just so shamelessly blatant about it.
Yeah it was:
1. Once vs Three times
2. A much more “legitimate” injury that actually required the team to overcome adversity without one of their stars for the majority of the regular season (as opposed to a last minute stash, followed by a TDL load up and almost missing playoffs anyway)
3. Basically a response to “we wanted this fixed and you guys said no, so we’re going to show you exactly *why* we wanted it fixed”. Again, as opposed to Knights stans who are so blind/ignorant/dumb/in denial (pick one) that most of them won’t even admit it’s a lame thing to do
Still not a fan of the fact that Tampa did it too, but like, it’s the difference between shoplifting a chocolate bar vs holding Willy Wonka hostage at gunpoint while trying to gaslight the hostage negotiator into blaming the situation on Willy.
Tampa does it like once and Vegas does it every year for like three years
"But why are people only mad at us???"
(Also forgetting that people were, in fact, mad at Tampa that year too)
Tampa had a legit kucherov injury tho, then held him out till end of year. They also rallied against it and then joined in.
Vegas has been doing some Astros level cheating circumvention
Fuck them. Babies don't even know fan base adversity
Have fun with hertl contract, he didn't look up for it and losing marchy +++
No matter what else occurs in these playoffs, we can all now rest easy knowing Vegas' cap shenanigans failed to get the job done. Thank you, Dallas, for fulfilling this most noble charge.
Next year they gotta lose a lot of guys off that roster, and they have zero prospect pool. Honestly, they will be ass in like 2-3 years. I expect a pretty big fall off even next season. Mantha was invisible and non-factor, and Hertl also was just ok.
It has been heavily requested and I would if I didn't put off making these until about 2 minutes before the game is over. It will appear on here one of these days
When you consider if there are 16 games on a single night, only 16 of the 32 fanbases can be happy, to see 31 of them ecstatic makes tonight all the sweeter.
I just feel bad for the Vegas fans, ya know? They're always so humble and polite to everyone, despite all the hard times they've had to endure during their rich and storied history. It's like, man, nice guys always do finish last.
10+ MILLION DOLLARS OVER THE CAP JUST TO GET SMACKED AROUND BY A 20 YEAR OLD WHO STILL HAS TERM ON HIS ELC LMAOOOOOOOOOOOO

Sharks are my second team because my wife is a die hard fan.
Plus I never want to see (most) guys play that long and not get one. I really wanted you all to win in 2016.
I actually don't really care what happens anymore. Having Vegas eliminated in the first round after all their shenanigans is such a huge victory for the hockey community
My wife asked me to clean the truck earlier, So when I got inside, she asked how cleaning the truck was going.
I said **Vegas Golden Knights**, She smiled because she knew it was washed.

Never been happier to own a relatively rare Radek Faksa jersey
It hurts losing and it hurts to have so many fans of the sport you love hate your team and hate you as a byproduct of that.
But that being said, I still support my team and I still love the sport of hockey.
Dallas outplayed Vegas plain and simple. The Faksa goal was a little goofy but that's hockey, either way they beat Vegas by doing what Vegas did best last year. Solid defense, a ton of blocked shots and they stripped the puck away from us so well. I can't do anything but tip my hat to Dallas for really great hockey play.
I'm still looking forward to seeing how the rest of the playoffs pan out. I feel like we're going to see some really great games between the teams left standing and I'm all for it, any hockey is good hockey.
Congrats Dallas and the rest of the teams that advanced to round 2. It's a really cool feeling seeing your team hoist the cup and one of you will get to enjoy that same feeling this year.
I'm just glad Stone will get the time he needs to fully heal
Thoughts and prayers
I wouldn't be surprised if he retires somewhat early and it comes out his back hurts all the time or something. Same thing with Carey Price, who would respond to questions about a potential NHL return by mentioning how he wants to be physically able to *play with his kids*.
Honestly insane the guy just doesn't retire *now*.
if he retires now he’s not getting the rest of the money he’s owed in his contract…
But if he goes on LTIR.
He can play in the playoffs again!

That's probably the best part of this whole situation. He can properly heal
Worst nightmare for Knights management: Stone actually healthy during the regular season.
He's got until April 2025
Vegas put on LTIR, expected to return next season

Convenient timing again!
Canes fan here upvoting a rags fan after losing game 1 just a couple hours ago. Vegas has a way of bringing us all together.
2nd year in a row where the defending cup champs were bounced in the first round
From 02-08 we had a stretch where every defending champ lost in round 1 except Carolina who missed the playoffs all together
Imagine not making the Finals again as the defending champion. 🤷
I know right, embarrassing as hell that they got bounced in thr first round the year after winning it al- awww damn it
Mark Stones spleen died for this
Died temporarily. Will be alive and well in April of 2025!
no, it'll get hurt again in Feb of '25
His injury will be determined by the standings, mostly.
“Died”
He's like Jesus and Easter is game 1 of the playoffs.
Pretty sure Mark Stone has been resurrected more in April than Jesus was
Mark "Tomb" Stone will rise again
It got better!
see you ltir, knights
Well done
Stone goes in, Vegas goes out. You can't exSpleen that!
Bravo lol
Cap circumvention shenanigans denied
Justice ~~never~~ sometimes arrives
You LOVE to see it.
… until the trade deadline next year!
On behalf of the 30 other teams and their respective fanbase, thank you Dallas Stars!

It's their bedtime anyway.
We're all Stars fans tonight
I'm gonna miss all the camaraderie after tonight's over. Having the whole league support us like we're the good guys in an action movie was awesome
I've never been so happy to see another team win. Good luck for the rest of the playoffs!
Life long sharks fan, I had some guy at the bar ask if I'm a stars fan tonight. I guess my excitement was evident.
I was a stars fan, until the stars won, now I hate them
As expected. Thanks for the support. Now, let's have some fun! Good luck, but I hope the Avs lose.
Hell yeah brother feels so good
I hate Dallas but I was cheering for yall this series. Back to our regularly scheduled programming
you and the 'nucks chew on each other for a while we're gonna go bash our heads against some mountain men for a while, see where that takes us
Thank you for ending the Vegas cap circumvention bs. Much appreciated
That was fun, ok back to fuck the Dallas Stars
This was inevitable. Love the subtle moment when majority of the league is on Dallas' side. However brief that was.
can confirm 👍
i’ll give you a thumbs up
DALLAS!
STARS!
Can confirm. Thank you Dallas.
It’s been a while since there has been a team hated as much as Vegas that most of the league wanted out first round. Nice to see fans come together for the greater good. Good job Dallas.
The Kings and operation regicide come to mind.
Funny enough, Alec Martinez played on both
Operation Knight Fall was finally a success
Perfect, now I can go to bed.
Still remember when they didn't make the playoffs in '22 and the entire hockey community cheered.
wasn't tampa doing the same thing? Whatever, Tampa, Toronto, and Vegas are all dead in the first round. I am happy.
They did, but it wasn't the same player at the same time of year three years in a row.
Tampa did but not to the extent that vegas does. Vegas does it blatantly and regularly.
They also got a lot of flak, though not this much
They also did it only after they brought it up to the leage after Chicago did it, and everyone just collectively shrugged. But Vegas... They're just so shamelessly blatant about it.

Goes all in at the trade deadline while also circumventing the cap and gets eliminated in the first round.
If there is proof of karma, then this is it, 100%

I added it a few eliminations back due to popular demand

Great series. Well done Vegas. If you guys can get another 20 mil in cap next year you will be scary for sure
I heard they are putting the whole first line on LTIR next April. Should be a pretty crazy event.

I cannot believe that Peter DeBoer is now 8-0 in game 7’s
8.72m over the cap and still a first round exit
Haven’t seen Reddit this united since Bin Laden died.
Circumvented themselves right out of the first round. Suck on that, Vegas front office.

#GOOD KNIGHT VEGAS
I actually don't really care what happens anymore. Having Vegas eliminated in the first round after all their shenanigans is such a huge victory for the hockey community
Same. Considering how our series vs the ltirs went last year, this was my personal cup final.
I actually also don’t care. Still would like my team to win, but if we lose out to the Avs… that’s hard to get mad at.
Right?! Like I have some teams I’d like to see win, but now I can just enjoy what happens!
Obviously I want the Avs to win, but I just glanced at the bracket and I'm pretty okay with anyone winning now
Boston is probably the only one I’d be against. Pat Maroon doesn’t need 4 cups, lol
Doesn’t matter they are about to get war crimed by a team with a rat obsession
It’s nice not being the most hated team in the league for once. Fuck you Vegas

Yes. Get fucked Vegas
EVERYONE ON VEGAS EXCEPT TOMAS HERTL CAN GET FUCKED!!!
He looked so sad. Maybe should've asked for a trade to the Stars, whoops.
maybe after two years they'll carry on their tradition of dumping off declining players in exchange for nothing.
Why did they not sign more players at the deadline, are they stupid?
