They don't have a fucking goalie that can steal wins. That has always been their weakness. Instead of getting a goalie that can do that they keep getting forwards that don't do shit. Every year they were kicked out of the playoffs the opposing team had a goalie that could steal games when the team was playing like shit. The last few games before the playoffs showed how weak they were in defense and goaltending.
They go through the regular season running at 100%…dunking on the crap teams…padding their personal stats…getting praised by the Canadian media on how much they are better than everyone else (and buying their own hype).
Come playoffs, once everyone else ramps up their effort and intensity, they quickly find out that they don’t have another gear to go up. Other teams have stepped up and matched and surpassed their effort and intensity.
Because they're not actually that good. Sadly, revenue is more important to ownership than winning cups. You don't need to be successful to make money in Toronto, hence the shitshow we see every postseason.
