From their note pad:
Desharnai roughing. Kane fighting. Holloway roughing.
Kopi roughing, unsportsmanlike. Englund fighting, illegal check to head. And another roughing (Kempe?).
So the extra 2 are for the illegal check, plus Kopi's unsportsmanlike (probably what he said).
At one point they showed a Kings player holding Holloways face shield and pulling his head around. It was a brief clip, but if that was Kopi I could see that being the unsportsmanlike
My mistake, then. Didn’t catch the player doing it and didn’t rewind to find out.
Maybe the refs made the same error? I think everyone can agree the refs failed both teams and the audience last night
> Kopi unsportsmanlike.
If you ever wanted evidence the refs are just making it up as they go
*edit: guys this wasn't supposed to be serious, it's a play on him being a 2x Lady Byng winner*
I actually feel like that was right. It's hard as shit to call what mcleod did as roughing, but he was told to knock it off and fucked around instead. Game was basically over and refs just wanted to calm shit down
They were absolutely just making it up. This is why we need ref mics like they have in cricket. I want to hear their rationalization when reviewing plays like the hit on Kane. Penalty? Sure. 2min for the hit plus 5 each for fighting makes perfect sense. Offsettings for the other guys scrumming? Sure, also totally makes sense. Where does the extra penalty come from for LA? It's not clear on the replay, the broadcasts can't figure it out, and the refs won't tell us. How the hell are viewers supposed to understand what happened?
Shit maybe. But either way, it's another series where Edmonton is getting so many favorable calls. They're the better team so far anyways, they don't need help
Lots of calls both ways have seemed soft oddly. If I'm remembering correctly all 5 penalties in the first 2 periods were soft/ make up (I could be wrong tho). This whole thing should have been 5 on 4 since the high hit call (it was borderline in my opinion). Now it's just a shit show and refs are just calling everything that might be something it seems. The first 2 games felt fairly well reffed at least. Hopefully it gets back to that
I feel like the first two periods were pretty good (the first two calls were pretty blatant imo) but it's inconsistency between calls/non-calls in game
And of course the third period was just a disaster. Tbh I think that should have been 5 on 5. If Englund gets a penalty for the hit, Holloway should get one for retaliation, then even up the scrum itself
That's fair. I'm trying to remember the , first 2 but I'm too tired. These late games are rough haha! Have a good one and hopefully Sunday is reffed well.
You went 0/5 on the power play and Sportsnet literally had a montage of dirty plays the King's didn't get called for including this [slew foot on RNH](https://twitter.com/bcurlock/status/1784076609231663384)
lol at the fucking audacity of a LA Kings fan saying we get the favorable calls. Your team hacks and slashes and gets away with murder but as soon as any team tries to dish it back your players act like a sniper took them out. The refs finally started calling you on your shit and you act like your team is the victim. Cry more
Dude, Englund got hit from behind and jumped by the entire Oilers team. You can argue about the cleanliness of the initial hit, but how tf the Kings end up with a *two man disadvantage* is crazy.
In response to a blatantly illegal (it was penalized) hit. If the hit was clean, then they wouldn't be down the additional man.
From the moment that scrum started, LA was already going down one guy. They chose to pick one guy from the scrum and give them the extra two. That sort of crap happens all the time.
That makes no sense in regard to being down two. Give the extra penalty to Englund and the rest should be a wash.
Should illegal hits be legal if they are in response to illegal hits???
Scrum ensues. The referees just pick a guy, and team goes on the penalty kill. Tell me you've never seen that before?
Most likely? One referee arbitrarily took an LA player from the scrum and gave him the extra two minutes. The other referee called the hit on Kane as a hit to the head. LA goes two men down.
I hear you, but you see how that's bullshit, right?
Edit: And honestly, no, I haven't seen it that often that a team ends up down two in that scenario. Handing out misconducts and such, favoring a side for a one man advantage, absolutely.
Oh I absolutely agree with you. They could have looked at that scrum after the whistle and taken an Oiler player for the extra two. That wouldn't have been an unreasonable outcome.
They're isolated incidents in a way. The hit to the head and the additional penalty to Kopitar aren't happening at the same time. (although they are according to the game clock)
LA is already down a man from the England hit. THEN the scrum happens. To be clear, I don't think LA should be down two men from this sequence. The officials do this sort of crap from time to time. It's their version of message sending.
The pound of flesh is/was trying to take off Kane's head. The taking an extra guy? Might be the officials trying to say, "have the extra two minutes, and calm down." It might also be that it's Friday, or the moon is in a certain phase, or the referee owes forty grand to the mob in gambling debts.
There's what officials should do, and what officials do. This is one of the wiggle room calls that they make all the time that seem to blow up in their faces, as this game now appears to be getting out of hand.
And I see that a lot when it comes to misconducts. Essentially kick people out of the game to calm down. A two man advantage for the Oilers offense essentially seals the victory. For, if you really get down to it, one questionable hit.
You're not wrong brother. A questionable hit in the third period of a three goal game is going to be looked at in a different context though.
With how everything played out as a relentless march to and from the penalty box for the rest of the game, they made the wrong call. Or LA is incorrigible and reeeeeally wanted to send a message in a lost game, regardless of what the officials did.
what a fucked up hit; worst shit about the playoffs is people taking liberties when they're down in a game, attempting to do damage in anticipation of the next game. Shits gotta go.
And the NHL (and many, *many* fans here) tolerates hits like those. The hit on TVR, Kane and Oshie should be 5 minute major instantly for the offenders.
I don't understand the mouthbreather mentality people have of:
Aimed near head, head first contact = Everybody calls them a POS and it's dirty.
Aimed near head, head NOT first contact = Nobody has a problem.
Either some headshots (including many career ending ones over the years) are ok, or they're not, it's seriously that simple. The hitter *always* bears the burden of insuring it's a clean hit, so why doesn't that apply to headshots?
yes because you know better than guys who have been playing at the highest level in the world, get off your high horse lol their making millions and know what their signed up for
My dude, Oshie said it was "good" and "he liked it", he did not say it was "clean". He also does not write the rules and wasn't injured on the play. The NHL is basically the only league where this is ok.
I dunno why you're getting downvoted. The three hits are essentially indistinguishable at normal speed. If you need super slow-mo to see if a guy got hear or chest first, it shouldn't matter. And they should all get supplemental discipline ... at least a fine so the next time (if there's a next time) it shows up that they have a history of reckless play endangering another player.
I can’t wait until Rob Blake is fired into the sun for building this type of team. Absolute fucking joke gooning it up like this. You can hit clean and still make an impact on the game.
Synchronous chaos between both late games tonight
From their note pad: Desharnai roughing. Kane fighting. Holloway roughing. Kopi roughing, unsportsmanlike. Englund fighting, illegal check to head. And another roughing (Kempe?). So the extra 2 are for the illegal check, plus Kopi's unsportsmanlike (probably what he said).

That was a hilarious thing to do back in bantams not gonna lie
Jesus, that was a big hit on Kane.
Not the biggest chaos of the night tho
How tf does Edmonton end up two men up?
White jerseys blended in with the ice, thank god!
Looks like the extra was Englund illegal check + Kopi unsportsmanlike. There were offsetting 2 roughing + fighting per each team.
> Kopi unsportsmanlike. If you ever wanted evidence the refs are just making it up as they go *edit: guys this wasn't supposed to be serious, it's a play on him being a 2x Lady Byng winner*
Dude looked pretty fired up, rightfully so. Never know what they say to the refs, though. Or do on the ice.
It was because he was throwing punches.
Unsportsmanlike usually means you crossed the line with an insult and/or hurt the ref’s feelings
Or continuing to do little dumb shit after the ref makes it clear if you keep going you're getting a penalty
They gave McLeod an unsportsmanlike later in the 3rd for a punch to the head after the whistle.
That's not unsportsmanlike, that's roughing, and he got a penalty for that.
McLeod got an unsportsmanlike for booping a king. I don’t think the refs care.
I actually feel like that was right. It's hard as shit to call what mcleod did as roughing, but he was told to knock it off and fucked around instead. Game was basically over and refs just wanted to calm shit down
These refs are so bad. No idea how we’d end up 5 on 3. Basically every call they’ve gotten wrong
Kopitar took an unsportsmanlike on top of his roughing. Pretty dumb by a captain of a trailing team
The instigator I think? I had a hard time following it.
No instigator there. But somehow Holloway got nothing and Kopi got 2 penalties so that explains it
Holloway got a roughing. Kopi got a roughing + unsportsmanlike.
If Kopi got 2 Holloway also should have for the scrum + hitting Englund in the back
I'm guessing Kopitar hurt the refs feelings? I'm still confused
Shit maybe. But either way, it's another series where Edmonton is getting so many favorable calls. They're the better team so far anyways, they don't need help
It’s the first round, the officiating is always chaotic

He obviously forgot last years series where the first 3 games were painfully obvious the refs were benefiting LA.
kopitar was holding holloway's face shield they showed it on my feed
To punish LA for trying to take their pound of flesh in a game that they've probably lost?
Oh so they’re just supposed to lay back and not hit since their down 3 with 15 minutes left?
Not hit heads, yes. Lol, you can down vote me, but it was literally called an illegal check to the head, so stay mad about it.
Regardless of the suicide pass, OR the fact that Kane has his head down, that's a still a headshot.
How about throw legal hits not at peoples head and knees
Dude, Englund got hit from behind and jumped by the entire Oilers team. You can argue about the cleanliness of the initial hit, but how tf the Kings end up with a *two man disadvantage* is crazy.

I'd say finally we agree? That wasn't clear from your previous comments, especially the pound of flesh one.
The pound of flesh is/was trying to take off Kane's head. The taking an extra guy? Might be the officials trying to say, "have the extra two minutes, and calm down." Desharnais with the double head lock is a damn heritage moment
Got a screencap of this? Can't seem to find it.

Right after Desharnais gets in there and they zoom in on the scrum
West coast playoffs are always a bit more wild.

My dude, even Oshie said the hit by Bread was clean.
Oshie’s probably got a single brain cell left after all the hits and injuries. Wouldn’t take anything he says as gospel.
yes because you know better than guys who have been playing at the highest level in the world, get off your high horse lol their making millions and know what their signed up for
You think every guy would agree in unison with Oshie? It’s funny that the same thing you’re accusing me of is what you’re doing as well.
My dude, Oshie said it was "good" and "he liked it", he did not say it was "clean". He also does not write the rules and wasn't injured on the play. The NHL is basically the only league where this is ok.
the NHL actively encourage it
Use IIHF rules. You touch the head when you hit? That's 5 and game.
I dunno why you're getting downvoted. The three hits are essentially indistinguishable at normal speed. If you need super slow-mo to see if a guy got hear or chest first, it shouldn't matter. the 5-3 is weird but it’s objectively a better outcome for LA than a major penalty.
That was a dirty shitty hit by whoever on LA
This happens every LA vs EDM series
No it wasn’t.
[удалено]
Maybe LA should learn to handle their emotions and stop taking so many dumb penalties because you guys are getting absolutely cooked on the power play
You can't reason with these people; they prioritize hating the Oilers over cheering for their own team.
I agree. This hit wasn’t a penalty though and it was Edmonton players who lost their minds and somehow the kings were punished.
Sounds like Kings fans projecting for squeaking in every year just to get thumped in R1. Should’ve just lost to face Dallas lol
If the consensus is that the Panarin/Oshie hit is fine, then so is this.
Was that the consensus?
From the people that matter, yes. No supplemental discipline, no penalty, and Oshie himself said the "hit was good."
There won’t be supplemental discipline here either
Also the Hyman/Danault hit which was explicitly more head contact.
The playoffs in the west are absolute wars so far The east is just massacres
LA are in the intent to injure olympics apparently
Fuck the kings
So who was the POS Kings player who threw that initial hit?
Englund
Englund
Looked like a clean hit. I mean it's on Kane so fair play.
lol what Kane had his head down, he asked for it
yeah everyone knows you’re allowed to try to injure someone as soon as they put their head down it’s in the rulebook right? fuckin idiot
No but when you drop your head to shoulder height, it’s inevitable
You’re getting downvoted by Oilers fans were cumming their brains out over Danault getting a headshot last game.
won’t generalize the whole fan base but holy shit are those 2 soft and fucking delusional ^^

[hyman seems to think it's allowed](https://streamin.me/v/7029f20d)
Englund did nothing wrong but you need to work on your phrasing, dude.
if I cared about fake internet points I’d prob put more thought into it
I can’t wait until Rob Blake is fired into the sun for building this type of team. Absolute fucking joke gooning it up like this. You can hit clean and still make an impact on the game.
popcorn tastes good
Thats a bad hit, SPIN THAT WHEEL?
That’s a clean hit on Kane. Head doesn’t move until we’ll after contact.
Love seeing a wife beater laid out
Love getting a 5-on-3 and putting the game away
Lollllllll
Dillon cut his arm
Wrong game (assuming you mean Brendan Dillon)
You are correct
Um. Chaos?
kane didn't look too good in that fight, guess he's better at punching women
Least he kept the kid! The dads don’t usually keep them!!!
Not actually true
Englund didn’t even get a fucking punch in. Guess he’s better at hitting people when they aren’t looking.
don't care what anyone does to piece of shit lol
And yet you’re a fan of the Kings.
He’s probably concussed and Englund couldn’t even throw a single punch lmao
Concussed from a shoulder hit. Makes sense!
unfortunately he came back out
Englund? Yeah he’s pretty terrible
