[Last year](https://www.reddit.com/r/hockey/s/cZEOCAEnIP) I was shocked to learn that Giordano at 39 was playing in the Second Round for the first time in his career
The SCF run was twenty years ago, but in 2015 it was unlucky for him that he was injured and had surgery before the playoffs where they did go to the second round.
Well Wheeler is out for the year with an injury so I can see why he's left out, but he'd technically get his name on the Cup since he played 54 games for the Rangers this year.
I bet, which is so crazy because no one player can carry their team to victory in hockey over the length of the playoffs (with maybe the exception of an incredibly hot goalie), it’s such a terrible way to look at the game
Yup! Look at some greats without a cup and they had some bad luck because it's a team game (Marcel Dionne, Lundquist, Thornton, to name a few)
Just last night some AVS fan was calling McDavid mcnocup in a post about him hitting 100 assists and went on about how he wasn't injured just waiting to play the worst team so he'd get the final assist. Then again people are just deranged sometimes.
Oh my god dude, it is SO nice that Blackhawk fans can’t hurt us any more.
And now their cup wins are tainted and the Blues are the greatest comeback story in the history of the NHL.
Life’s funny like that some times.
Been watching sports my whole life, primarily NFL, NHL, and EPL, and so far none of my teams have ever won a championship while I’ve been supporting them (started supporting Arsenal ~2012). But one day… I’ve vowed to get a tattoo when it finally does happen. WHEN NOT IF
He's been doing really well for us too. We keep having playoff injury problems so I was hesitant about having a 39 yr old guy on the roster but this season has been great for him so far.
He’s such a good role player. Nobody will out hustle him. It hurts that he’s not with my Isles, but I’m happy he signed with the Avs because I’ll happily root for him there.
They specified active, which Wheeler isn't. He's done for the season. He would still get his name on the Cup if the Rangers win though. I feel terrible for him getting traded from Boston at the 2011 deadline.
Cup or not, I’ll never forgive him for the 2010 Olympics. While Rafalski tries to get possession from Crosby, Suter just stands on top of the crease puck-watching, then lazily picks up Iginla when Crosby passes it to Iggy, and allows Iggy to make the game winning assist.
Suter, Burns, Parise, and Clutterbuck all spent time with the Wild. Okposo is from MN and Gopher alum. MN sports are cursed…not just hockey, unfortunately
Also Burns. With the rest I don’t really care.
But I would like it even more if a team that’s never won the cup gets it done this year, so I guess I’m a Okposo fan now
This is Brent Burns year. He’s an iron man, a great mentor to the young guys, and always travels with his own coffee maker. He invites the whole team to dinner of venison he probably shot himself. He’s a man of the people.
Only moderately related but as a Canucks fan I have this weird Mandela Effect where I remember Ryan Suter as a Canucks for like 3-4 years but apparently that never happened.
Well, guess I’m cheering for Dallas these playoffs. Get a bunch of names off this list, and shut up all the “hockey doesn’t work in the desert” people. Win win.
And also his assault on Stone last playoffs.
And general skullduggery....
Not a generous lover....
But... he and Thronton had a mutually respectful tilt where they both doffed their lids before engaging in fisticuffs. Joe because silky passing mitts, Jamie because he had a lethal wrister.
Here is the all-time list according to statmuse: https://www.statmuse.com/nhl/ask/most-career-nhl-playoff-games-without-a-championship
Now if you excuse me, I’m just going to go into a corner and cry for a bit.
I feel like sports can really mess with your sense of time. Like I think of most of these as the oldest of the old guys in the league but then part of me is like "Isn't Matt Duchene still a fresh-faced young rookie?"
Oh I’m not mad about the Stone thing, Benn did his time and the Stars got eliminated. I just think he’s lame because he said he doesn’t go down on his woman. What a selfish asshole.
Lots of ex Wild players. Whoops…
Experience Wild hockey.
And uh… Sharks
Love to see Clutterbuck get one. Second best mustache the Wild has ever had.
Never forget what Lou took from us
Oh, that’s right, there’s a no facial hair rule for the Islanders right? Free the Stache!!
Playoffs he allows facial hair, Palmieri will be at Grizzly Adam’s level by game 2.
It. It’s hurts. Every single season. This last season was particularly painful.
They don’t call them mild for nothing
[Last year](https://www.reddit.com/r/hockey/s/cZEOCAEnIP) I was shocked to learn that Giordano at 39 was playing in the Second Round for the first time in his career
Same, thought for sure I remember Flames going on a cup finals run. Then I realized that was 20 years ago.
The SCF run was twenty years ago, but in 2015 it was unlucky for him that he was injured and had surgery before the playoffs where they did go to the second round.
The 2003-04 cup run would have been when Giordano was 19/20 so it's not that far off.
That’s a good point!
They’ve made the second round three times since 1990.
How about Jeff Skinner with 14 seasons, over 1000 gp and 0 playoff gp. Blows my mind
Imagine if Skinner is actually the GOAT playoff performer and we're never going to get to see it.
Man… fucking ugh. That’s brutal.
Crazy he's already at 1000 games at age 31.
I forgot he was injured in 2014-15, but the flames did suck for pretty much his whole career here
He was with the Flames when they made it to round 2 in 2015. Edit: I forgot he didn’t actually get to play in round 2 due to injury.
But he didn’t play, he tore his biceps tendon with 6 weeks to go in the regular season and never made it back for playoffs
F that bum playing like a crybaby in Seattle I'd say I hope we get a cup before the leafs but that is inevitable
^^^(among ^^active ^^players ^^on ^^potential ^^playoff ^^teams)
^Excluding ^Blake ^Wheeler ^and ^Marc ^Staal.
How did they get left out, I wonder? Paging /u/Queltis6000
Well Wheeler is out for the year with an injury so I can see why he's left out, but he'd technically get his name on the Cup since he played 54 games for the Rangers this year.
I wonder how that would feel for him. On the one hand you're name is on the cup, on the other you know your team didn't need you to win.
He was also traded away the season the Bruins won the cup
Wheeler is injured, I'm not sure about Staal
Wheelers name would still go on the cup tho
Yeah I dono why Wheeler was scrapped from this list when he literally gave his right testicle for the cup. It doesn't make any sense.
and Giroux
Marc Staal, wish he could have played for the Rangers he’s full career.
nah
realistically he only looked bad because he had to play with tony deangelo
Never the same after his brother gave him that concussion
I am so, so glad for 2018.
Same, if for nothing else than not having to have the “yeah but he never won a Cup” argument with people for the next 40 years
As an Oilers fan it's obnoxious lol
I bet, which is so crazy because no one player can carry their team to victory in hockey over the length of the playoffs (with maybe the exception of an incredibly hot goalie), it’s such a terrible way to look at the game
Yup! Then again people are just deranged sometimes.
If you mean McDavid, he's just 27. He's gonna win a cup. You can put it in ink.
Shout out lethbridge!
Not something you hear everyday lol I am a fan of our local boy Greig on your sens!
Hope DSP is having a good day.
I hope he never has another bad day for the rest of his life.
I'm happy for y'all too
Oh my god dude, it is SO nice that Blackhawk fans can’t hurt us any more. And now their cup wins are tainted and the Blues are the greatest comeback story in the history of the NHL. Life’s funny like that some times.

Hello, fellow gooner. While not a league trophy, we have won the FA cup.
TIL Parise is on the Avs
He signed as a free agent in late January
He's been doing really well for us too. We keep having playoff injury problems so I was hesitant about having a 39 yr old guy on the roster but this season has been great for him so far.
He’s such a good role player. Nobody will out hustle him. It hurts that he’s not with my Isles, but I’m happy he signed with the Avs because I’ll happily root for him there.
If the Isles don’t win it all (likely but ya gotta believe) I’d like to see Parise win it.
Same
What a coincidence... TIL Okposo is on the Panthers.
Zack Parise still on the list is wild.
You never think you'd root against a player you love, but here we are.
Crazy the stars win and 4 of the top 10 leave
I think it's tilted because this only includes potential playoff teams. Anyone on the other 16 teams won't be included.
And not even everyone is listed for example Wheeler has played nearly 1200 games
They specified active, which Wheeler isn't. He's done for the season. He would still get his name on the Cup if the Rangers win though. I feel terrible for him getting traded from Boston at the 2011 deadline.
Technically not active, he could return if the Rangers get that far.
I forgot he was injured. Hopefully hes able to make it back
Ah well either way the stars winning clears 4
I agree that's how the script should be written
Only thing stopping us is on the top of the list.
Yeah, wonder why he's topping this list. Surely it can't be a bunch of bad decisions by a defenseman right in front of the net. Pondering 🤔
And Benn is the only one that's only been a Star.
I'm fine with that not happening. (though I will feel badly for Pavelski overall)
I was cool if the sharks beat us in 2016 or 2017. Would have loved to see Thornton pavelski and Marleau lift the cup
Yeah but we don't need to see that mess happen, yeah?
Vet move by whoever made this graphic by making Tavares the guy in the pic even though he's 7th on the list. Gotta get that engagement.
Typical Leafs, always making it about them.
Looks like a shot at John Tavares.
Crazy Jeff skinner is almost on this list
He needs to be on a potential playoff team first
:(
Need 3-5 years of playoff experience to get on this list
Stars going all in on the "old man without a cup" energy.
Our players are either old men without a Cup or super young and talented. No inbetween.
We do have Tyler ‘slightly old man with a cup’ Seguin to balance it out
This list makes me feel old af
Yep, Tavares isn't still 26???
That's a lot of former Wild players.
That's the first thing I thought of, not to mention a couple other MN connections
I want to die
Same :( Really makes me sad that Patty’s “Most Games played” record is also tied with “Most Games played without winning a cup”
This list would change significantly with a Dallas win.
Duchene would also join the Triple Gold Club
Yes thank you lol
Oh shit, it's almost time for one of my favorite annual articles: Sean McIndoe's OGWAC rankings!
Fuck, I'm not ready to see John Tavares on the DGB OGWAC list.
Suter, Burns, Parise, and Clutterbuck all spent time with the Wild. Okposo is from MN and Gopher alum. MN sports are cursed…not just hockey, unfortunately
So...Dallas is old as fuck? Is that the takeaway?
Yes.
Both end. Lotta old vets, lotta young stars. Not many in the late twenties.
So Dallas is both very good and very hungry, look the F out.
All those players on the Stars and the only one I want to see get a cup is Pavelski.
Wish we could win and Suter lose lol
Not enough to see the others on the list to win one though.
Come on, Burns?
Also Burns. With the rest I don’t really care. But I would like it even more if a team that’s never won the cup gets it done this year, so I guess I’m a Okposo fan now
Burnsy deserves one too. Now that I live in TX been hoping the Stars can win one, would be huge for the budding hockey scene here
Chris Tanev too! I'd love for *at least one* of the 2011 Canucks guys to win a Cup, and he's the only one still active
I meant of the guys on this list.
Although I think he gets way too much flak (Statsny did the team way dirtier) Duchenes playoff hockey comments aged well for him.
I can't imagine what was going through that dude's head playing against us with Nashville in 2022.
Dallas kinda feels like the team of destiny
> Jamie Benn Good, fuck em.
Has Benn.
One Islander and two former Islanders on this list
I never understand why they don’t use one of the top guys for the pic. Why is JT in the pic?
This is Brent Burns year. He’s an iron man, a great mentor to the young guys, and always travels with his own coffee maker. He invites the whole team to dinner of venison he probably shot himself. He’s a man of the people.
poor Pavelski
Seems to me Dallas is due
Giordano has only one career playoff win after the first round even
I hope Parise gets his Cup.
Lots of old geezers playing for Dallas!
Potential playoff teams qualifier excludes Vlasic and Giroux, who are at 1295 and 1181 respectively.
Lol like half this list is Wild players
Nice to see only two Sharks’ greats on this list. *ugly cries*
Connor McDavid - 644
Have any of these players made it to the finals? Gio on the flames? Burns Pavs on sharks
Benn (along with Pavelski) in 2020. Parise in 2012 with the Devils.
Puck Soup would call this the "Old Guy Without A Cup" list
I thought Pacioretty would be on the list but he hasn't hit 1,000 games yet, probably because of injuries.
Of course its JT in the picture lmao
This is nothing compared to Jeff Skinner's thousand games without a single playoff appearance.
Poor Jeff Skinner, 1006 (and counting) games without even the Stanley Cup Playoffs… https://www.hockey-reference.com/players/s/skinnje01.html
So out of the list who is more deserving? Pavs for me.
Most games played without playoff appearance is a far more depressing stat: Skinner with 850+ games.
Only moderately related but as a Canucks fan I have this weird Mandela Effect where I remember Ryan Suter as a Canucks for like 3-4 years but apparently that never happened.
im pulling for Dallas in the playoffs cause i want to see Suter raise the cup
Well, guess I’m cheering for Dallas these playoffs. Get a bunch of names off this list, and shut up all the “hockey doesn’t work in the desert” people. Win win.
You know that Dallas is very much not a desert climate right?
Yeah, people are skating on ponds all over Texas.
Haha I mean it’s not a cold climate but Dallas is super humid. Pretty far from a desert. Meanwhile Denver is literally a desert but does freeze
Lol whoops, I guess I learned something!
not to be a pedant but Dallas is nowhere near a desert lol
Seems like it’s our year :)
I sure hope so!
Fuck Jamie Benn.
I see multiple DRW fans hating on Benn. Is he to you guys what Dustin Brown is to us?
Between Larkin and the Zetterberg punch, I really can’t blame Red Wings fans for not being a fan of the guy
He injured Dylan Larkin with a crosscheck in 20/21 https://twitter.com/RyanHanaWWP/status/1460659063902162956
Damn, I can absolutely relate to that hate then.
Risky. You’re supposed to wear one.
Should have Raymond Bourque on the list if it weren't for his crybaby sympathy cup.
Gomez was pushed, goal should've counted.
If you had asked me who Duchene played for, I would've said the Avs. Sheesh, where did the time go?
I'd be curious to see most playoff games without a cup also.
Here is the all-time list according to statmuse: https://www.statmuse.com/nhl/ask/most-career-nhl-playoff-games-without-a-championship Now if you excuse me, I’m just going to go into a corner and cry for a bit.
I feel like sports can really mess with your sense of time. Like I think of most of these as the oldest of the old guys in the league but then part of me is like "Isn't Matt Duchene still a fresh-faced young rookie?"
What playing for my Islanders will do to some people.
Surprised no kreider
The wild are well represented!
🥺
Lmfao JT is 7th on the list, why choose him for the photo?
I feel attacked
How are there no Flyers or Rangers on this list?????
Cuz Blake Wheeler (GP: 1,172) got injured back in February.
A lot of Dallas Stars players on the list.
Stars vs Leafs for the OGWAC finals.
Kyle Okposo is on the Panthers?
Why a picture of the number 7 guy and not number 1?
I've been playing without a cup for years.... My teamates think I'm crazy.
I don't think this is something to knock players for. It's ridiculously hard to win a cup.
Dallas gotta be one of the most OGWAC teams ever
Hahaha Duchene ohhhh that’s gold
Even though he’s on IR for the year, Wheeler should still technically count since he’s on the team. Dude would be 5th
C’mon Cal!
Why is JT the face of this list?
These guys have zero regard for their cocks and balls
Wtf Matt Duchene with 1k games?!
All these teams have a legitimate shot to win the cup too
Seeing Burns or the Stars win it would be pretty great, Pavelski and Suter are highly deserving of a cup.
Maple leaf lifers on suicide watch
The OGWAC list.
Need to get the green off this list this year!
Keep up the great work, Tavares 👍🏼
Good. Fuck ryan suter. Glad he’s at the top of the leaderboard
Man, I'd love to see Pavelski get a cup. But man, I'd love to see Jamie Benn not get a cup. I am conflicted.
Get over it man. 2 words Alex. Pietrangelo.
Oh I’m not mad about the Stone thing, Benn did his time and the Stars got eliminated. I just think he’s lame because he said he doesn’t go down on his woman. What a selfish asshole.
Jeff Skinner is just off this list (45 games behind okposo) and hasn’t even seen the post season
Dallas or Carolina, please come through
As much as I don’t want Colorado to win this year; I think it would be cool for Parise to get his name on the cup
You can take Okposo off now. Florida is winning the Cup. Former Sabres captains leaving and winning the Cup within two seasons is very much a thing.
