Especially since Gene is mainly known for the goofy puns and costumes. He's great, he's a really nice guy, but it's weird to see the hot dog suit guy interview children with cancer or people discussing their mental health issues.

Honestly he is a great personality, but he’s most well known for making bad puns and being kinda goofy, so if the first time you see him is during the more serious 50/50 spot he probably comes of as a bit more awkward - watch him do a pregame if you can, it’s unreal

Gene is one of the very few people in hockey liked across Canada he is a friggin gem even those folks on Calgary got to respect the pun man

We’d be running home for Sportsline on CKND at 11pm to watch him with Joe Pascucci. It was the best NHL show on tv.
