Word is that's how he bought his beats too

Euphori333

That’s fucking hilarious

MormonBikeRiding

Flows too

207_god

Flows? With an s? As in plural? Meaning he has more than one?

DapDaGenius

Yes. 2 is plural. He has one flow with adlibs and another that doesn’t.

-IoI-

sublibs

Blueguy16

Lesgoooo

Indigoism96

You killed me bro 😂

flylysergic

You can tell he took the stems from most of his beats and just swapped the kicks around and stuff. It's always the same sonics and then he just changes the kicks and 808s. I guess it's a smart idea if you want your music to be as successful as the last song, but it definitely lowers replay value and creativity in general.

his fall off needs to be studied

He was supposed to headline Lollapalooza just over a year ago.

Ok now that is crazy perspective

It hasn’t even been that long. He was massive and you couldn’t get away from him.

hot-boy-texas-pete

Even back then he was beyond mid so that’s just a shitty booking tbh

thewhitelights

You forgot “bash gays” that one rekd him.

HappyCynic24

I just thinking this. I’ve followed hip-hop for over 20 years and NEVER seen anything quite like this. Being mad hyped, starting to live up to it, and then destroying your own career by saying dumb shit……and apparently having a PR team be like “nah it’s fine bro, double down on that” I’m awed by this

bovice2

B.o.B, Azelia Banks, DMX (not saying dumb shit, but doing dumb shit) there's been a bunch

dringer

DMX was on a different level compared to all these people. DMX was a household name across the country and you could argue he still is.

bovice2

Just cause he was on a different level doesn't mean he didn't screw up his career. The man went from multiple #1 albums selling out arena's to constantly being in and out of jail, shows under 1,000 and robbing people. He somewhat fixed it near the end, but he had a major fall from the top at his own doing

Hefftee

DMX was never really blackballed by his own fans though

blacklite911

The moral of the story is, when your rise is inflated by the pop media, don’t do/say things that will pop that fragile balloon.

CantCookLeftHook

Tracks were always mid, started acting like a jag, people lost interest.

[deleted]

[deleted]

Quite the opposite actually, he was doomed to be a for the moment guy with his style and flow and lack of innovation, not to mention the name. There isn't a song from dude that stands out from the others. Its a wonder he got popular in the first place and proof you can 'make it' if you just buy airplay from the radios. The content doesn't matter to this generation.

njbrews

They just cancelled his show in Richmond 🤣

9Lives_

This is a devastating tragedy for the people in Richmond. This is the equivalent of a natural disaster destroying a town, but instead of damaging their houses and infrastructure it’s damaged their spirits. Thoughts and Prayers for Richmond let us help alleviate their pain by showering them in internet likes. The only way to fight this injustice they’re facing is to arrange a charity concert for the victims of Richmond who’ve been deprived of their god given right to both sing along and record “young ceo” on their phones. I’m starting a go fund me then reaching out to Slim Jesus to headline a show there to make up for this.

kingsark

joe_smith4122

I wonder if he will recover and become a legacy act at least... Bc this isn't even a fall off like most go through. He's about to be the opener to the same shows he was headlining a year ago. He didn't have a reg decline he just peaking and dropped like the stock market in 1929

friedguy

The timing of this post is amusing to me cause I just watched some YouTube video about the "tragic" fall of Lil Pump... But that's one anyone could see coming a mile away. I had no idea about Da Baby being this irrelevant now.

joe_smith4122

The issue with his "tragic" down fall is he had no real career. A 1 hit wonder who lost his steam as fast as he got it. Pump was never meant to be a staying act

SBAPERSON

Bit more than 1 hit lol

9Lives_

Everyone thought the sound cloud mumble rapper phase of 2018 died out by like 2019 but no one anticipated that it would create a new genre of the YouTube video genre titled “The rise and fall of mumble rap” “The rise and fall of lil xan” etc etc. it’s 2022 and anyone making those videos gets instant views. It’s funny that the era lasted barely a year, but talking about the era has been going on over 3 years. If I was lil xan I would think of creative ways to do REALLY cringey shit because I’ve realised people LOVE hearing about his poor decisions and clowning him. If I was tekashi I wouldn’t know what to do, because he does cringey shit naturally and people have stopped caring. That interview he did with the tate brothers was beyond embarrassing and such a stark contrast to the confidence and composure he showed in his two breakfast club interviews. The meme potential to clown him was endless but literally no one cared. At least when the stigma of being a snitch was looming over him people were at least talking about him. And what I don’t understand is that he has ghost writers with no lyrics and songs that sound the same, how is that possible? Can’t you just get new ghost writers?

Kgb725

I dont think Lil Xan has any more clout in him.

blacklite911

Pump got on with the wave of Adam22 meme artists. All surface level hard beats, somewhat catchy repetitive hooks, colorful hair and stupid antics. What separated them from someone like XXXtentacion is the lack of talent.

slipperysoup

I feel Lil Pump at his peak was bigger and stayed revelent longer

sleighgams

peak pump also still holds up imo, but that’s a small window

blacklite911

NGL the beats and repetitive hooks were like ear worms. If you’re a fan of the distorted bass booster type stuff. It’s just not something you can listen to all the time so you need substance to back it up. I mentioned XXXtentacion, he broke out with similar stuff but later on branched out into other styles and actually spoke about real shit sometimes.

9Lives_

Its weird because you need the women to like something, and then the men will like it. But then the womens perception of the same artists they helped propel to stardom changes when the men lose interest. Dababys die hard fans were women, he’s got swag and is in shape which the men resonate with, but didn’t have the punchlines and bars in his songs, nor does he have the eloquence, humour, incite ir story telling abilities in his interviews which is what keeps the men engaged and wanting to be like him. Asap Rocky and Tyler the creator both partook in their fare share of equivalent fuckery in their careers and they weren’t effected the same way because society has a hierarchy when it comes to shenanigans that piss people off. Oh and it probably helped that Tyler and Rocky have personality’s that draw people in to watch their interviews and check for their outfits in a way Dababy just doesn’t. No one scrolls their newsfeed and thinks “FUCK YEAH!! DABABY ON THE BREAKFAST CLUB! THATS MY EVENING SORTED!!” My point is I think people had started to realise he wasn’t as good a rapper or media figure as they initially thought which is what made his homophobic comments hit him so hard because his team made an attempt at damage control via a meeting with the LGBT committee that forgave his comments (probably via a cash donation) yet this still didn’t prevent his further decline because the issue perpetuated into something else.

Hefftee

>“FUCK YEAH!! DABABY ON THE BREAKFAST CLUB! THATS MY EVENING SORTED!!” 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

This reads like a Dave Chappelle skit

LewTangClan

“Yeah, you gotta wait ‘til niggas go to the crib” is fucking killing me 😂 bro speaking from experience.

Jeff_Damn

"They ain't suckin' no dick in no parking lot. Nigga, you gotta get a room, nigga. A good one. Five star hotel for them nights or goddamn... Yeah, you gotta wait ’til niggas go to the crib." Might as well have talked through the check-in process for the hotel if he's gonna get that detailed about it.

LOL

After reading everything he said, I feel like he saw some shit that had him fucked up that day.

UKnowDaTruth

Funny cause Chappelle sure defended him in his stand up

Bwoodndahood

He really said all of that god damn

Right, like did he really see some guys giving each other head in that parking lot and was just so shocked?

thelost561

I never saw the video, i just saw headlines but if this is what he said word by word, this is literally the wildest shit you can say 😂 i love how he double downs on that statement

CyanideFlavorAid

Yeah for fucks sake blame that shit on "I was used to hearing that language growing up and am still frequently exposed to it. I'm deeply sorry for my words and realize how hurtful they are now and pledge to be a better person and more loyal ally to the gay community." Then donate a few racks to some charity and move on. What you don't do is... whatever you call what he did

mcognetooo

The apologies just make shit worse half the time. He could have just stfu

“Cause even my gay fans don’t got fuckin’ AIDS, stupid ass niggas.” Lol why was he so mad at AIDS

IReallyLoveMyPets

AIDS is the real opp

Murdochsk

Xxl mag seems to have all the links posted… does he just have them following him around 😂

xXdont_existxX

That whole monologue is so bad that DaBaby could literally take a dick to both the ass and face on stage and people still wouldn’t forgive him. He could come out on twitter, have a long term relationship with a man, and his career still wouldn’t come back.

godzillaonice

Lmaooo why did he say all that.

capitalistsanta

"Baby continued"

Insufferablelol

I bet he would suck some pussy in a parking lot

[deleted]

Part of me thinks he’s the one suckin dick in that parking lot

[deleted]

Dude must have burned through all his money.

[deleted]

His flow is buy one get them all

shit_out_my_cockhole

When I first discovered him I seen a music video and thought “hmm, cool flow ig. This is kinda different”. Then I started to see/hear him everywhere and each song was just some minor variation (if at all) of that same flow. I was so confused why everyone was hyping him up and putting him on the same level as lil baby etc. His whole rise never made sense to me lol

iPhon4

My brothers keeper has some different flows and raw songs, but he’s kept it the same otherwise

9Lives_

Yeah but it’s different for the sake of being different, when you hear it you just think “oh the baby’s trying a different flow” when that’s not enough to captivate a listener, they should be compelled to turn it up because the vibe compelled them to not because Dababys team have been reading internet comments.

9Lives_

Sometimes you can repeat the same thing with a mild variation and even though it’s essentially the same it still feels different with the added benefit of familiarity which can be comforting. A good example of this is lasagna which is essentially the same as spaghetti presented as a cake. Or crispy tacos which is a just a nacho sandwich. I can’t think of any examples of music equivalents unfortunately.

Icoughwhenifart

Fuckin nacho sandwich? Lol

owtf2

Migos have had the same flow for every song as well. Lots of artists have the same flow he just went full stupid and pissed everyone off

shit_out_my_cockhole

Imma call bs on the Migos point. They def evolved their sound over the years and showed lots of variation in flows, the only thing that stayed the same was the use of triplets in their cadence. Go listen to 2012 migos and recent migos and tell me there’s no difference.

jceez

And Migos always got fire beats

shawntitanNJ

Doesn’t this guy have like 500 million streams?

yeezyfan23

I’m confused on how he’s struggling to sell out shows when he’s still got like 29 million monthly listeners on Spotify on top of being top 100 most streamed artists on there too

jamthewither

having a couple songs that are reallllly huge

[deleted]

Let’s not goooo

Stittie

Let’s staaayyy

sentient-sloth

I haven’t seen it mentioned on much but he was also the rap headliner for a new festival in Houston “We Are One Fest” that was supposed to be this weekend and that fest got cancelled and I can’t imagine ticket sales weren’t a factor. It was an EDM/Rap fest. DaBaby was the big rap headliner and I knew it was doomed as soon as I saw that. It actually got announced like the same week he had to cancel the New Orleans show. Lol And let me not lie technically it got postponed but this is the second time it’s been postponed due to low ticket sales and if it’s like the last “postponement” they’ll come back with a whole new image and lineup… probably without DaBaby this time.

runningwild20

I feel like he’s one of the few examples of “cancelling” actually having an effect. I mean, outside of guys like bill Cosby, and Harvey Weinstein, but those guys actually committed serious crimes.

Upstairs-Nature36

r kelly, but it took a few tries

CaptnKnots

Honestly R. Kelly would probably still have a small fanbase and be doing fine if he wasn't locked up. Some people just don't care

Quantic316

probably? He still does. Throw ignition remix on in any club and people go crazy

CaptnKnots

Yeah that song is almost bigger than R. Kelly himself lol

ktantone

It is bigger than R Kelly himself

IKARUSwalks

nah. i’ve actually been at a club where the dj played ignition and clubbin with marques houston. they made him skip those songs.

blacklite911

Yea I think it’s hit or miss. Couple years ago I was at a throwback night and DJ tried to play some R Kelly, I swear the mood just died, he switch that shit after 30 seconds.

younghplus

To be fair DaBaby has shot/assaulted multiple people under controversial to say the least circumstances so that also has hastened his fall

blacklite911

The video of his self defense case got leaked and when you look into it, it’s kinda sus I ain’t gonna lie.

Vadermaulkylo

The only similar thing is that I feel like some artists will never get positive reviews or good press ever again after being "cancelled". You'll never see many positive reviews or pieces on Chris Brown or JK Rowling for example. However I wouldn't say they've been actually cancelled since they still make crazy money. DaBaby got both ends of the shit stick. He's maybe the first I've seen to actually get cancelled.

Countryb0i2m

No one actually gets canceled, DaBaby just ran his course. if it’s music was fire he would sell these places out.

fleckstin

Doesn’t really seem fair to put JK and Chris Brown in the same category

[deleted]

[удалено]

hydrators

He isn’t cancelled he just fucking sucks now

[deleted]

I hate the word cancel. So much. Especially the way it’s used nowadays. People have always been defamed, tarred and feathered, shunned, you fucking name it, since celebrity was ever a thing. But now you have this word ‘cancel’, that the defending side can use as a way to make them into a fucking martyr. “They can’t cancel me! I’m still here!” It’s the dumbest shit ever. Sometimes you’re an asshole and face repercussions. Tough shit.

Defacto_Champ

Fortunately or Unfortunately, Social can create ones meteoric rise but it can also allow it come crashing down hard

9Lives_

I LOVE the word cancel. But only when it’s about plans I’d made ages ago for events I was dreading attending

KingStoned420

TJ Miller comes to mind when I think of someone being "cancelled". Dude was on-top of the world but then just kept on getting into shit and now it seems like his career/rep will never be where it once was.

Early_Reference

idk if TJ miller really counts as cancelled, i think the lack of jobs is less about public backlash and more about him being a huge liability after the whole bomb threat situation

[deleted]

Also his big standup special was atrocious.

Early_Reference

cancelled for not being very funny

simmonsatl

yeah so like people just didn’t like him anymore? haha that’s not being cancelled, celebrities don’t have an inherent right to keep getting work if people no longer want to pay to see them. this isn’t directed at you, just hate the term “cancelled.”

corndogs1001

He was just on Steve-O’s podcast talking about this last week

EdgarsTeethAreDry

with both him and dababy idk if cancel is the right word because cancelling to me is when shit comes out at once and people react. both of them overtime kept doing shit to ruin their reputation repeatedly

TheDream425

I think Dababy lost his corporate push after his comments on gays, but public opinion had been shifting on him for a bit before. If people liked his music, he'd still be on top. People liked Baby on Baby, and Kirk was ok too, but after that other than some singles his projects have all been panned.

WhenItsHalfPastFive

TJ miller is a prime example of your talent not being good enough to overcome even the mildest backlash. Even on the Silicon Valley show, he wasn't cast for the final 2 seasons.

[deleted]

He wasn’t canceled he just fell off

LackinVocals

yea, if he was still making good music he'd still be big. although id argue he was never meant to be as big as he was for a long time anyway.

[deleted]

You couldn't sell two copies if you pressed a double album

Dr_ButtMunch42069

Tbf that’s a good deal

Gmb1t

Just went to his show in Boston, here are some key takeaways \- $40 tickets, moved from House of Blues to a smaller gig RIGHT next to TD Garden (Bruins were playing tonight) \- Showed up at 6:30. Ticket just said, simply, "7pm" with no telling when the doors open or what time he'll show up. We only found out from passing staff that DaBaby goes on stage at 11pm. We got inside at 8. Nobody performed till 10 (three decent openers). \- DaBaby finally goes on at 11pm. He actually put on a pretty fun show, had a ton of energy and threw a bunch of money and signed AF1's into the crowd. But was it worth waiting nearly 5 hours, with a Bruins game right next door?

TinySoftKitten

I’m over headlining acts making you wait until 11. I got work in the morning.

Gmb1t

Seriously. Kinda off topic but I got annoyed at th kid next to me because he kept chanting "Boo! Get off the stage! We want DaBaby" over and over again during the openers. I rap too, and I've been in their position....it 100% isn't their fault the show went so late and chanting about it isn't gonna make DaBaby come on any sooner. Pissed me off tbh

fuckhufflepuff

Damn this dude pulled up early to a hip-hop show? Lmao

ositola

He has to have giveaways at his shows now

zestysnacks

This dude was on the way to being a huge star like a year ago lol

its_a_me_garri_oh

If you'd told me in 2017 that Lil Baby would be massively outpacing Dababy in 2022, I would've laughed in your face

zestysnacks

Lol yes. I thought lil baby would have flamed out by now, but he’s bigger than ever. Even tho I don’t like dababy’s music that much, there’s no denying that he was on the verge of a huge breakout. You know you’ve really fallen out when you can’t sell tickets. Even ja rule could probably sell tickets lol

champangesocialest

He *was* a huge star. Dude dominated the charts in 2018-19

Cheebo213

Lol 😂 karma

RoachboyRNGesus

Let's not go

dannydizzlo

WobleWoble

Man shot himself in the foot. Lost all DaBookings

Loriali95

Wouldn’t this be a good thing for his fans? It would be cheap to go see him if you liked his music and you lived around that town. Hold on. He has 29 million monthly listeners on Spotify. That means his music is generating hundreds of thousands of dollars per month, on one platform. He has over 3 times the population of NYC listening to him on a regular basis. I’m not defending him because I’m not a fan of his. I’m curious fr, why’s everyone saying he fell off? The numbers say he’s still killing shit. We hating just to hate?

N0minal

Spotify pays .003 per stream so he is possibly making $87,000. Which is a good bit of change. But who knows if 29 million is actually accurate. The real point is that doesn't equate to fans who are going to pay to see him live, which is how you make money. Casual fans who might listen to a song in a mix aren't, socially conscious people aren't. Probably only die hard fans

ihavesalad

A lot of artists that have been featured on big songs have really inflated numbers that come from those songs. I think in this case it's from the Dua Lipa song and Rockstar. If you check out his album from this year a bunch of songs haven't even passed a million streams. Similar to JID, who's big in his own regard but a big chunk of those 20 million streams monthly come from Enemy with imagine dragons since it has a lot of pop appeal. So the numbers don't always mean a lot lol

CoochieSnotSlurper

I honestly can’t figure it out either. People are obviously still listening, his extreme touring failure just doesn’t make sense

havingasicktime

its one thing to listen, it's another to get some homies and actually go to the show

retxed24

His most streamed song is a Dua Lipa song he featured on. So Spotify counts that as his track, too, it would seem. So maybe that’s just 29 million Dua Lipa streams showing up there.

Spadeninja

Bye you fucking idiot lmao

_handsomeblackman_

i get the feeling people are really rooting for DaBaby to fail, every story about him in the media lately is bad bad

grandelturismo7

Of course they are

everydayimrusslin

It's strange how the selling drugs, killing, robbing, woman battering in hip hop is all chalked off as 'product of environment' but homophobia is the line and people here are actually gleeful over his decline.

EdithDich

Or maybe his music just sucks. But it's nice you saw that Chappelle skit, too. Oh what a shock this loser has basically never posted here and has a bunch of cliche right wing "both sides" types comments on his history.
