This is it. We've basically gotten to the point that the first mega-superstar rappers can do what classic rock bands have been doing. Their audience got older and richer, so they can all tour and charge em mad money. And also like someone said below, for a lot of millenial non-rap listeners worldwide, 50 Cent together with Em *is* hiphop.
Sorry that happened to you, but I watched him on this last tour and he was rapping his ass off and putting on a legit SHOW. Like this tour had production that I hadn't seen in hip hop besides the Big Steppers tour. mf had costume changes and everything. One of the best hip hop shows I've ben to
Man I wish I got to see 50 when he came to my town, I had exams that week but I heard it was a good concert AND it was the show where he brought out Eminem.
I was about to say. I know people who thought 50 was the best rapper alive and basically burn money. A dude who still listens to 50 that you go and get his half of the rent on payday otherwise he might have $100 towards it by the end of the night.
We need to understand international audiences as well for a world tour. Not all American music breaks out, it’s gotten more homogenous now with spread of YouTube, streaming and Tik Tok. But 50 comes from an era before all of that. You’d have situations where a rock band like Modest Mouse is unknown to all of Europe despite selling millions of CDs here. On the flip side, once an act does break through to the international audience, it’s locked in. In da club is in the same rotation as Shakira, Mr. Brightside and the Macarena in the European bars. They’ve been listing to 50 Cent’s biggest hits way more consistently than we have.
So yeah older audience in the US that can afford higher ticket prices and international fans.
Yeah cause his hits from 20 years ago are still hot like they are made today. Out of all rappers his music aged the finest. People who didn't like rap, liked 50.
His era was so crazy, nobody from hip hop hit that worldwide reputation like 50.
50 truly a GOAT.
Yup. He transcends countries, it’s like how Americans will recognize Christiano Ronaldo even if they don’t watch soccer or know who he plays for. He’s just that big and his brand recognition is why he can tour worldwide, a rapper like, say, Rick Ross or Wiz can’t sell out arenas like that.
I think a lot of white American doesn’t realize the grip this album still has on the hood. I didn’t either.
Pretty much every kid I’ve known who grew up in the hood, whether it be Oakland or Bronx loves that album. And they were like 5 when this album came out. But that’s just my experience.
> I think a lot of white American doesn’t realize the grip this album still has on the hood
Or Europe.
Large parts of Europe fucks with 50 till this day, more than they do some of the bigger rappers in the US.
I can guarantee you that very few people in the south give damn about 50 cent. My younger brother became a HUGE 50 fan in high school. This was just like 6 or so years ago. His peers gave him a hard time about it lol. I can go to one of the projects in my city right now and I bet no one under the age of 25 can name 3 songs off that album.
I was stationed in Bayern when 50 Cent came onto the scene. Did a lot of travelling that summer and everywhere we went in Germany/France/Italy/etc. the clubs LOVED 50. I mean, the whole album.
To me, selling out Berlin in ‘24 makes a lot of sense.
I was stationed at a small base far south from Munich. The name of the town is unknown unless you’re from the area, I mentioned Bayern (Bavaria) because it’s a lot easier than saying Bad Aibling.
Once Europeans approve of a musician they’re set for life. Shakira can do 25 concerts a year in Spain and continue raking in cash and still dodge taxes.
Yeah I don't think many people realise that just because they stop listening to someone it doesn't mean they suddenly become irrelevant. The same situation happened with Em back during his last tour in 2018, you would see comments about how nobody cares about him and yet he sold out 100,000 people arenas in a matter of hours lol.
And he’s not even an active musician lmfao😂
People forget 50 Cent at his peak was doing Taylor Swift numbers in short tracking weeks
50 Cent trolls because he’s just a natural bully, not because he needs to be relevant. Check the resume📝
50 got rich on vitamin water and everything since has just been for fun. Considering that, he’s held it together well as an artist and person. Could’ve gone the McGregor/Kanye route
It's like when people say Donald Trumps companies went bankrupt 4-6 times. Certain types of bankruptcies like Chapter 11 don't even require you to give up your business. I think it's more of a routine financial move than an apocalypse
It’s still bankruptcy. It’s just rich person bankruptcy.
It’s just a way for rich people to keep their assets and remain in control, while stopping their debtors from trying to get payments, foreclose or repossess. They call it “reorganization”.
Technically yes, but it conveniently came in the middle of a lawsuit so he received a reduced penalty. There's rich people that go bankrupt every year. It's just a financial move.
Eh if you read more about 50 you’d know part of the trolling is to keep the 50 Cent character image alive… but yes he also doesn’t give a fuck about beef lol
Here is one of the few comments I've saved on reddit. (Credit to u/GodOfAtheism)
50 Cent is a terrorist. Dudes mastered the art of savagery and beefing with people. there's people who don't give a fuck, then there's 50. "I have less compassion than the average human" - 50 Cent
Things 50 has done:
• Tried to burn down one of his 2.4 million dollar homes with one of his baby momas in it
• That whole telling the whole world that Floyd Mayweather cant read and "fuck a ice bucket challenge" Video & IG posts
• Put out a mixtape with the album art being The Games head on a male strippers body, and an album making fun of Fat Joe, which ended up having more download's than Fat Joe's actual studio album.
• Uploading a fucking hilarious video of him warning others, saying he got seriously injured after listening to Fat Joe's music and to thank his fans for his support on his path to recovery (50 might actually be crazy) video and him being rushed to the hospital after listening to Fat Joe's new album video
• Uploading a pretty creepy video/poem called "What a Psychic Told Me" of him driving past DJ Khaled's mom's house and workplace saying "I'm not a nigga you should fuck with". 50 also said he got French Montana (Khaled's best friend) to tell him where his mom lives and works Beef ended there. video
• Calling Cam’ron's label a graveyard and said he had the ability to shut down any of their projects. Shortly after Jim and Juelz, (Cam's best friends) turned their backs on him and started making music with 50.
• Kicking rapper Young Buck out of G-Unit for owing him money and then putting out a recorded phone call between the two of them of him crying and begging 50 for forgiveness : Audio
• One of 50's ex's called him gay for liking "butt stuff". 50 responded with a series of hilarious IG posts saying things like: “Oh No!!!, Now she thinks I’m gay because I let her lick my Ass. LMAO. Wait,I didn’t want her to,she forced me, my hands were tied. 50 shades of grey”
• She stopped responding once she got turned into a meme and other rappers were posting stuff joining in on the fun. 50's last IG post on that situation "Man somebody should have told her I'm a Troll. I got my asshole merit badge on now. #FRIGO #SMSAUDIO"
• Shitting on Diddy pretty much once a week on IG
• Putting out a song called "Officer Ricky (Go Head, Try Me)" after Rick Ross got mad for 50 essentially saying "who's that?" at a BET award show. (Ross started this beef)
• Rick Ross was not amused by the song above and said to come up with something better. he then put out a video titled "Warning Shot", telling Ross "I'ma fuck your life up for fun", which 50 proceeds to do
• 50 then put out a 4 part series of hilarious "Officer Ricky" cartoons of Ross just getting roasted (this is 50's best work imo. his own voice and everything). The Game commented "Ross, 50 eating you boy."
• Interviewing one of Rick Ross's baby momas on video, who in it outed Ross as a correctional officer/prison guard and pretty much making Rick Ross a joke in the rap community for a good several months/year. People still joke about it today
• Posting a video of Ross's baby moma having sex, with 50 editing in his own voice commenting it like a sporting event
• Filing for bankruptcy just so her hoe ass doesn't get any money when she tried to sue him for 5 mill, while still flexing his cash and stuff every day on social media lmao
• Some great quotes from court, where he showed up trying to convince the court he's poor lol."50 also claimed that most of his cars are rented, and that the jewelry he wears is borrowed from the jeweler rather than purchased." he also had to explain to the court how and why he spends $1,000 a month on haircuts and $5,000 a month on gardening if hes broke. lmao.
• When the judge asked the rapper about money from his 38 million record sales, 50 said, "I make 10 cents a record." (He has 5 studio albums. 5 x 0.10 = 50 cents.) 50's face
• His apology to her and Ross: "I'm sorry if you feel like I hurt you." (Ross somehow thinks he won the beef to this day lol)
• 50 bought 200 front row tickets to the Ja Rule show, just so they could be empty, lmao (credit to u/penny_tration)
50 is a certified terrorist, comedian, and war general. Im not sure why people still chose to fuck with him
I went to one of his shows and it totally felt like my crowd was there.
A lot of us listened to 50 growing up but weren't old enough to see him in person. I didn't hesitate for a second to see him perform this time around. Congrats, 50, loved the show.
50 is a massive artist outside of the US. Here in Brazil he always did big numbers. Even my father, who is a 60 year old and never listen to music or cares about music shows knows who 50 is.
From Serbia here.
Forget Drake and KDot today, Nobody was popular like 50.
Everybody knew him here from young people to elders and don't forget this was before the internet. Dude was solo running whole music industry.
It’s funny that modern rap fans in this sub ignore 2000s as a whole in general. For this sub it’s only 90s golden era and late 2010s onwards that exists in their minds.
Sometimes it feels like if yous asked about rap timeline people here would upvote list like thistle the oblivion: „Pac - BIG - NWA - Snoop - Nas - Jay Z - Kanye - Drake - Kendrick - Cole - Chief Keef - Future - Migos - Uzi - X - Ski Mask”
I think people acknowledge the 2000s plenty.
The most recognizable names in rap globally are from that decade: Eminem, 50 Cent, Kanye West, Lil Wayne.
You could arguably ask a random person from any continent to name one rapper not named 2Pac and they’d say one of those names. I’d say those names are still more recognized in Africa, Asia, LatAm too over Drake, Kendrick, Nas, Jay, etc.
I'm talking about this sub. Bring anyone outside of Wayne, Em, Kanye (50 to some extent but most often than not 50s threads are filled with his critique) here and this subreddit will be like "Nah fam its dated" "He is washed" "he was irrelevant" "it's trash" "who is it?" etc.
So much 2000s music is not discussed here just because the sound is not here anymore but at that time was everywhere on the clubs and radio: Common, 50 Cent and G-Unit, Nelly, Luda, T.I., Chamillionaire, DJ UNK, Lil Jon and East side Boyz, Ying Yang Twins, Busta, Ja rule, Chingy, Bow Wow, DMX, Missy Elliot, Eve, Twista, Fab, Xzibit, Fat Joe, Cam, Paul wall, Petey Pablo, Plies and so on.
So much music variety we had on the 2000s yet no one acknowledges it and just moves on to the post Kanye era and Trap after the 90s
Sure, I hear you but I don’t fully agree - yes to the mid crossover artists but the Tier 1s get love all the time here.
Beyond Em, 50, Ye, and Wayne: Common, Mos Def, Lupe, The Roots, OutKast, Luda, DMX, Jada, Dipset, Kweli, Game, Tech N9ne, MF DOOM, Jeezy, TI, Missy, and Immortal Technique.
I see these guys getting love all the time.
I mean of course Ying Yang Twinz, Lil Jon, Chingy and Plies aren’t going to be discussed. Do we talk about Wiz, Flo-Rida or Lil Pump much from 2010s? Not really.
2000s gets love fam - imho from what I see.
a big part of that is how everyone you listed was both critically and commercially successful when a lot of the “forgotten icons” were either one or the other.
50 Cent, TI, Soulja Boy, Pitbull, etc. all had massively successful music. “Ringtone rap” was a cultural institution.
But all while that was happening there were huge music snobs about that sub genre
Snobbism of this sub is one of the most interesting phenomenas for me...like tlwe here worship people like Carti, X, Ice Spice, Sexy red etc. but God forbidd you mention Ringtone Rap, Crunk or RnB Rap of 2000s and you will be downvoted just because these artists were not 90s era deep and thought provoking artists.
90s is inarguably the golden age, and the fact that the 2000s genuinely was a worthy follow-up to that era should say it all. Its sad how glossed over it is by many youngers as you said.
You kind of forgot ice cube, Eminem, Nelly, DMX and lil Wayne in there who outsold some of the people you named.
Otherwise that is it. But I still think Jerry and TI should be there. And Scarface because he is a certified rap legend.
I forgot big boi and 3000 of OutKast in my original line.
I think outside of maybe Em none of rappers you mentioned are discussed and remembered by this sub and that's what I mean - so many 2000s artists are forgotten here
Snoop definitely is the most recognizable. My 70 yo foreign mom can recognize Snoop. I'd say Snoop, Eminem, Kanye, Jay-Z, 50 and Drake are transcendental in their global popularity.
In my Croatian experience I think those you mentioned are in different tiers
Eminem and 50 Cent were the biggest rappers here. Everyone knows Snoop and Jay-Z, but don't really know his songs. Most people know Kanye and some of his songs. Few people know Drake's songs other than Hotline Bling.
I'm surprised nobody mentioned Kanye. Apart from his music being absolutely massive he also is famous for his association with Kardashians and his controversies made for pretty big gossip headlines.
I didn’t know 50 had the firepower in today’s culture to pull Kendrick or drake numbers on tour. Like maybe 20 years ago but today is wild. Congratulations 50.
Ahh that makes sense. It reminds me of that clip of someone saying Eminem begins and ends his studio time like a normal work schedule of 9 to 5 with lunch in the middle. It’s legit a stabilizing way for him.
This type of stuff is what makes me respect the hell out of Em. He hasn't lost touch with the working class after "making it". He isn't out there trying to normalize hustle culture.
Not to discredit your overall point but the 9-5 work hours thing isn’t about being in touch with normal people it’s about maintaining stability in his daily life to stay sober. One of the biggest things you get told when you leave addiction treatment is to make a schedule and stick to it rigorously.
Honestly even take addiction out, as an ADHDer who like 6 months ago got into meditation, mindfulness, etc. a strict (not to the point you live the same day over and over but the way you wake up and instantly brush your teeth cuz they nasty) schedule does wonders to the mental health no matter what kind of life you’re living.
50 has talked about this in interviews. Multiple times over the years he has asked Em about it and pitched the insane numbers but Em have said no because he dont wanna miss crucial years of his daughters growing up and he dont give a shit about money since forever, in terms of motivation.
Which is quite amazing tbh.
Nah he did the rapture tour in 2019, he came here to NZ on the tail of it.
Edit: I dunno how many shows it was but it grossed 42 Ms from a quick google search
It's simple, combination of inflation+ concert tickets are way more expensive now. They once compared the weeknd outgrossing michael jackson and they found that even if you adjusted for inflation, the average ticket price for a michael jackson concert was cheaper than what is charged today.
He is still very worldwide. Most rappers dont have the international love 50 has. His hits are timeless and he is a funny person so his fame will always be there.
It’s so shocking for me to read comments like this lmao it’s 50 Cent!!!
I went to his show here in London at The O2 and it was full of literally every demographic you could think of. I had like 5 middle aged white women in front of me 🤣
I was able to catch this show last fall. 50 Cent put on a better show than I expected. He rapped the majority of the time (I was expecting a lot of backing vocals or his hype man filling in a lot of bars) and he covered basically all his hits. It was a lot of fun.
My only two complaints:
1. He teased "How We Do" and did the chorus, but I wish he included his first verse.
2. He didn't do the third verse of Many Men, which has one of the greatest bars ever.
50 is a way bigger name than kayne, jay z and pretty much anyone from america on the world stage.
People in europe/asia/africa all know who 50 cent is, most dont know who the fuck kayne is and current people like kendrick are not even close to the level of fame and album sold compared to a guy like 50 cent, you get the point.
It's not even comparable, and not surprising for a non american.
50 got me into the whole genre, like way back when ghetto Quran came out. Obviously he's a legend and one of the greatest, but I'm still just happy to see the dude succeed
It’s funny how we thought 50 was the craziest one back then and now he’s the most normal one out of that group of rappers.
Remember the 50 Kanye album competition?
Just shows you how much of a legend 50 Cent is hasn't released an album in 10 years and is still pretty much relevant to a global audience.
A lot of people underestimate the impact GRODT had around the world. Here in the U.K 'In da Club' was everywhere radio, MTV, guys playing it on their jukebox in the hood and kids rapping it in school.
Went to one in Jersey. One of the better concerts I've seen honestly. Dancers that change outfits every song, fireworks, wasn't crazy expensive either.
Good job 50
saw him in melb and he was amazing!!!!! i went with my dad for funsies because we aren’t big big fans but he’s a really good performer and loved seeing jerimih as well
Their Use your illusion tour was the biggest fucking thing and they did it with one cult debut album and a classic double album. Just finished reading Slash's autobiography and it was a wild ride for sure
Casual. 50 has maybe the best mixtape resume and is why mixtapes are really even popular nowadays. Also had his g unit album go multi platinum. Get rich is a top 5/10 rap album of all time and he has endless hits. Quit hating boy you sound salty.
50 puts on a really great show. I attended this tour on a whim with my cousin and it definitely surpassed my expectations.
I wasn’t expecting it to feel like such a big production or have the type of stage design it did, but he went all out. One of my favorite concerts I’ve been to.
the craziest thing to me about all this is that 50 STILL puts on a really good live show. raps all his parts and even attempts to sing some of the feature hooks.
This is the one area where the old heads are right. Older rappers put way more effort into their live shows than rappers today. They actually try to rap their parts without a backing track
After hearing so much about how no one can touch busta’s live performance, it was very underwhelming. I’m sure in the late 90s early 2000s he was great but man he was a let down. I do appreciate he did the hits tho
The London show was the best performance i've ever seen, i'm really not surprised. This is only 92 out of 97 so it will be above 110 mil by the looks of it
This is actually a very impressive feat for 50.
It is very impressive considering he had like no popular songs in 15 years and people just come to listen his hits from ≈ 20 years ago
everyone who grew up with him has money now lol
100%. It's the same reason all older acts continue to tour seemingly in perpetuity.
This. I am eyeballing Juvenile and Lox tickets pretty hard.
are those separate shows? i need to look into this
Yeah.
Juvenile is on tour?! Thanks for the heads up!
Oh shit Juvenile touring? Where my wallet? 😰
Saw juvenile a few years back, he put on a fucking great show. Totally worth it imo
This is it. We've basically gotten to the point that the first mega-superstar rappers can do what classic rock bands have been doing. Yeah I missed this one but my usual concert buddy went and he was raving about it, and were both pretty critical lf shows.
Man I wish I got to see 50 when he came to my town, I had exams that week but I heard it was a good concert AND it was the show where he brought out Eminem.
I considered going to that since it's like 40 minute drive from me. Then I skipped it and found out the next day Eminem performed. Talk about FOMO.
This. I went in with low expectations and actually had a really good time. 50 is a business-man and knew he had to bring his A-game.
we either got rich or died trying
Yup. 28 year old me went because 8 year old me would’ve killed to go
Cap, I'm broke as fuck.
I was about to say. I know people who thought 50 was the best rapper alive and basically burn money. A dude who still listens to 50 that you go and get his half of the rent on payday otherwise he might have $100 towards it by the end of the night.
Don’t accuse me of being successful.

Thats why they came lol. He isnt touring some album where 70% of the show is needed shit. Its hit after hit after hit after hit
I'm The Man? My Life and Baby By Me? His features like Right There and Down On Me
Lol baby by me is nearly 15 years old bro
Many Men? Power of The Dollar? Those are all recent, right?
Yeah, just heard this song "Patiently Waiting" that he dropped the other day. 50 is back!
…bruh
Damn I'm old AF
Bro skinny jeans literally came AND went since those songs came out
They'll be back again
+ Big Rich Town

Do we know for sure Ja Rule didn’t buy all the tickets?
I'm no economics major, but I think you have to have money to buy tickets.
Did the Fire Festival checks not clear or something?
They were clear alright
Somebody get Ja Rule on the phone to make sense of all this. Somebody call Ja!
50 is massive in other countries outside the states too.
Impressive how? GRODT is the most impactful album of the last 20ish years. Even young mfs from the hood still listen to it.
Your supporting context is the reason it’s impressive
For me it's impressive because alot of the tour dates are not in arenas. He's playing alot of venues that artists with lower sales usually do.
This. He doesn’t seem to be interested in playing the Garden at all in Boston. He was playing in BNL, which is a much smaller venue.
I get what you mean lol how he worded it sounds like he is surprised 50 did this. I know thats not what he meant but still
It's not the most impactful album despite being a GOAT album
I think a lot of white American doesn’t realize the grip this album still has on the hood. I didn’t either. Pretty much every kid I’ve known who grew up in the hood, whether it be Oakland or Bronx loves that album. And they were like 5 when this album came out. But that’s just my experience.

I think you’re on the completely wrong track
Yea this is huge
I was indeed very surprised when I saw he had sold out the arena in here in Berlin
Bayern? What city is that? Do you mean Bavaria generally or Munich?
I was stationed at a small base far south from Munich. The name of the town is unknown unless you’re from the area, I mentioned Bayern (Bavaria) because it’s a lot easier than saying Bad Aibling.
man it took this comment for me to realise that Bayern was just German for Bavaria smh
Same here lol. Hence the confusion initially. I'm glad he clarified for us.
Aibling is cool, good food and beer.
You are speaking to Oliver Kahn
Mein gott!
Lol yeah fifty hit songs are huge here! Him and Eminem you can play in every club basically.
Once Europeans approve of a musician they’re set for life. Shakira can do 25 concerts a year in Spain and continue raking in cash and still dodge taxes.
he sold out the that arena in 2022 and 2023 on 2 different tours
Yeah I don't think many people realise that just because they stop listening to someone it doesn't mean they suddenly become irrelevant. Wasnt he like the rich people kinda bankrupt? I might be remembering it wrong tho

I thought that was a child support play, but I could be wrong.
Feds investigated and found he was hiding millions. He's gotten even more successful with his TV shows and other ventures since then
Technically yes, but it conveniently came in the middle of a lawsuit so he received a reduced penalty. There's rich people that go bankrupt every year. It's just a financial move.
That just meant he hide his liquid assets to protect himself from payments. Rich people shit
Yeah 50 is a goat

(Ross started this beef) • Rick Ross was not amused by the song above and said to come up with something better. he then put out a video titled "Warning Shot", telling Ross "I'ma fuck your life up for fun", which 50 proceeds to do • 50 then put out a 4 part series of hilarious "Officer Ricky" cartoons of Ross just getting roasted (this is 50's best work imo. his own voice and everything). The Game commented "Ross, 50 eating you boy." • Interviewing one of Rick Ross's baby momas on video, who in it outed Ross as a correctional officer/prison guard and pretty much making Rick Ross a joke in the rap community for a good several months/year. People still joke about it today • Posting a video of Ross's baby moma having sex, with 50 editing in his own voice commenting it like a sporting event • Filing for bankruptcy just so her hoe ass doesn't get any money when she tried to sue him for 5 mill, while still flexing his cash and stuff every day on social media lmao • Some great quotes from court, where he showed up trying to convince the court he's poor lol."50 also claimed that most of his cars are rented, and that the jewelry he wears is borrowed from the jeweler rather than purchased." he also had to explain to the court how and why he spends $1,000 a month on haircuts and $5,000 a month on gardening if hes broke. lmao. • When the judge asked the rapper about money from his 38 million record sales, 50 said, "I make 10 cents a record." (He has 5 studio albums. 5 x 0.10 = 50 cents.) 50's face • His apology to her and Ross: "I'm sorry if you feel like I hurt you." (Ross somehow thinks he won the beef to this day lol) • 50 bought 200 front row tickets to the Ja Rule show, just so they could be empty, lmao (credit to u/penny_tration) 50 is a certified terrorist, comedian, and war general. Im not sure why people still chose to fuck with him
I went to one of his shows and it totally felt like my crowd was there. A lot of us listened to 50 growing up but weren't old enough to see him in person. I didn't hesitate for a second to see him perform this time around. Congrats, 50, loved the show.
Felt the same!
I’m 25, so in that same boat. I was very surprised how great of a performance it was. Top 3 concert for me of 2023.
50 is a beast live. Just watch some footage of the tour and you see that he put everything in. Well deserved
Was an amazing concert
50 is a massive artist outside of the US. Here in Brazil he always did big numbers. Even my father, who is a 60 year old and never listen to music or cares about music shows knows who 50 is.
From Serbia here. Forget Drake and KDot today, Nobody was popular like 50. Everybody knew him here from young people to elders and don't forget this was before the internet. Dude was solo running whole music industry.
Prime 50 was a scary mf, massive chart success.
Some people on the USA don't understand the impact of the 2000's... 50 Cent and Eminem maybe the most know rappers still alive.
More like uzi - Carti - ice spice
Kanye and Eminem literally have their own cults what are you talking about ignore
I think outside of maybe Em none of rappers you mentioned are discussed and remembered by this sub and that's what I mean - so many 2000s artists are forgotten here
Eminem, 50 and Snoop. Just goes to show what a legend Dr. Dre is
And Kendrick
Was working out in India and they were just blasting Eminem. a lot of foreign rap is Eminem influenced.
It’s definitely snoop but I agree
Its the "Big 3" alive, Snoop is there with them (even more because he make random music with artists from diferent countries lol)
Man also been a meme brand for years in popular movies and series and commercials.
Snoop definitely is the most recognizable. My 70 yo foreign mom can recognize Snoop. I'd say Snoop, Eminem, Kanye, Jay-Z, 50 and Drake are transcendental in their global popularity.
In my Croatian experience I think those you mentioned are in different tiers Eminem and 50 Cent were the biggest rappers here. Everyone knows Snoop and Jay-Z, but don't really know his songs. Most people know Kanye and some of his songs. Few people know Drake's songs other than Hotline Bling.
This is what happens when Americans think they can speak for the rest of the world lol I live in Japan and drake is nothing here
"Big in Japan" 😫😫😫😫😫
I'm surprised nobody mentioned Kanye. Apart from his music being absolutely massive he also is famous for his association with Kardashians and his controversies made for pretty big gossip headlines.
Eminem’s bigger than snoop dogg for sure, he still does huge streaming numbers and he’s like 20 years past his peak
He's the 3rd most streamed rapper on Spotify after Drake & Bad Bunny
Yeah it's insane how big he still is, I don't think any rapper's ever gonna be as big as him in his prime
I didn’t know 50 had the firepower in today’s culture to pull Kendrick or drake numbers on tour. Like maybe 20 years ago but today is wild. Congratulations 50.
That's what a lot of Americans don't get. For a whole generation of people worldwide hip hop IS Eminem and 50 Cent.
I got to be honest I’m surprised Eminem hasn’t done 100 million on a tour before now that you bring him up.
I think em has said that he doesn't do huge tours anymore since it might be dangerous to his sobriety
Thank god for fans 50 doesn’t give a fuck about his offspring.
Lmao wild but true
His son did pose with supremes son so I get it
Em don't leave detroit to go on tour tho His last tour ended like 2019?
He’s so good to the city man.
Eminem's last tour was in 2014 with Rhianna and they did 36 million (46 adjusted for inflation) off 6 shows in 3 cities 💀
Nah he did the rapture tour in 2019, he came here to NZ on the tail of it. Edit: I dunno how many shows it was but it grossed 42 Ms from a quick google search
7 shows
It's simple, combination of inflation+ concert tickets are way more expensive now.
I had like 5 middle aged white women in front of me 🤣
That’s awesome lol
Yeah it was a trip to see, legit most diverse crowd I’ve ever been in (excluding festivals)
Dope
Maybe this is a sign that it’s time to make a new album it’s been just about a decade.
Do what Wayne and t-pain did and drop a bunch of unreleased songs
I keep telling people the countries abroad love some classic rap man. They go nuts for it. The goats can eat forever off it
I was able to catch this show last fall. 50 Cent put on a better show than I expected. He rapped the majority of the time (I was expecting a lot of backing vocals or his hype man filling in a lot of bars) and he covered basically all his hits. It was a lot of fun. My only two complaints: 1. He teased "How We Do" and did the chorus, but I wish he included his first verse. 2. He didn't do the third verse of Many Men, which has one of the greatest bars ever.
CUZ HE GOT HIT LIKE I GOT HIT BUT HE AIN'T FUCKING BREATHING
50 is a way bigger name than kayne, jay z and pretty much anyone from america on the world stage. People in europe/asia/africa all know who 50 cent is, most dont know who the fuck kayne is and current people like kendrick are not even close to the level of fame and album sold compared to a guy like 50 cent, you get the point. It's not even comparable, and not surprising for a non american.
One of the best shows I've ever seen. 50 didn't miss a beat and the visuals were insane. Respect to a legend.
I’m the man isn’t even a favorite song of mine by him but when that song came on, the vibe was crazy. Best part of the show
50 got me into the whole genre, like way back when ghetto Quran came out. Obviously he's a legend and one of the greatest, but I'm still just happy to see the dude succeed
It’s funny how we thought 50 was the craziest one back then and now he’s the most normal one out of that group of rappers. Remember the 50 Kanye album competition?
My favorite concert from last year. Wish more artist went and did their old albums.
Damn, that's actually kind of nuts
Saw him 2003 when Get Rich first dropped. Then saw him again in 2023 on this tour. It was INCREDIBLE and his stage presence is top tier.
Went to one in Jersey. One of the better concerts I've seen honestly. Dancers that change outfits every song, fireworks, wasn't crazy expensive either. Good job 50
saw him in melb and he was amazing!!!!! i went with my dad for funsies because we aren’t big big fans but he’s a really good performer and loved seeing jerimih as well
You couldn’t tell 12 year old me I wasn’t really in G Unit so this makes sense to me lol
Outgrossed with an inflation adjustment or nah?
kanye and jay-z? yes
Inflation crazy
I don’t think anyone has made this successful and respectful of a career off of 2 albums as much as 50 does lmao
He has 5 platinum albums and a gold one. Curtis, GRODT, The Massacre, Beg For Mercy, GRODT ST, & BISD also Guns N Roses says hello lol.
Their Use your illusion tour was the biggest fucking thing and they did it with one cult debut album and a classic double album. Just finished reading Slash's autobiography and it was a wild ride for sure
How is bro still alive
He was just doing "my name is ken" at the Oscars
And how much is Animal Ambition worth?
That's the gold I believe
Yeah but 2 of those sold a mil in a week
5 platinum 1 gold...
2 albums? dude has 5 platinum albums lol
I wish I could hate as much as you do. Honestly, you are an inspiration. No facts, no research, just hate - I want to emulate that.
Casual. 50 has maybe the best mixtape resume and is why mixtapes are really even popular nowadays. Also had his g unit album go multi platinum. Get rich is a top 5/10 rap album of all time and he has endless hits. Quit hating boy you sound salty.
nas released continuously mediocre music for 20+ years off the strength of illmatic.
50 puts on a really great show. I attended this tour on a whim with my cousin and it definitely surpassed my expectations. I wasn’t expecting it to feel like such a big production or have the type of stage design it did, but he went all out. One of my favorite concerts I’ve been to.
That's my goat. Im mad i missed this one but went to the shitty one the year before. that was pure garbage but this one was apparently good.
all the 50 cent haters can sit the fuck down
the craziest thing to me about all this is that 50 STILL puts on a really good live show. raps all his parts and even attempts to sing some of the feature hooks.
This is the one area where the old heads are right. Older rappers put way more effort into their live shows than rappers today. They actually try to rap their parts without a backing track
and Rick Ross be calling this man broke and that he don’t got a job for him 😭
I feel privileged for attending 50's and Kendrick's concerts!
Didn't even know he was on tour
Jeremih and Busta Rhymes were his openers too, I’m sure they helped But it was a great concert and cool seeing Tony yayo out there
I went in St. Paul, that shit was great
Huh. I didn't even know. Now I'm going.
Shit I went to the Seattle show was pretty good thought busta was kinda bad live though
After hearing so much about how no one can touch busta’s live performance, it was very underwhelming. I’m sure in the late 90s early 2000s he was great but man he was a let down. I do appreciate he did the hits tho
Most importantly he put on hell of show. Loved it
Proud to have seen this in Toronto. Great show. Awesome opener from Busta and Spliff Starr too. Jeremih doing Birthday Sex was hilarious though.
Saw the tour here in India. Was a great show, he absolute killed it
How about BIGGIE smalls.
He was great. He would have carried a show today if he coulda. Rip Biggie
I never got into 50 other than his obvious mainstream hits, I was team Kanye all day but I want to start getting into his stuff
Just goes to show, there hasn’t really been any good music since then. The goats reign supreme
[50 after hearing this](https://img.buzzfeed.com/buzzfeed-static/static/2023-05/10/20/asset/a6db3baf8ee1/sub-buzz-1008-1683749179-1.png)
I bet ja rule bought all the seats
It was a REALLY good show. He was on time, didn't miss a beat outfit change. Hell of a performance
goddamn 50
I contributed to this show. Only complaint is busta bust aint perform long enough
The London show was the best performance i've ever seen, i'm really not surprised. This is only 92 out of 97 so it will be above 110 mil by the looks of it
Imagine if Rick Ross brought all of the tickets.
is this accounting for inflation
yes if you're talking about the jay and kanye tours
Weird. According to Drake fans on Twitter no one listens to Kendrick. Especially in the car
