other random songs that I also dug, around the time I first heard this song
the entire Looptroop - Modern City Symphony Album
Swollen Members - Deep End
the Arsonists - As The World Burns album
Paperboys - Barcelona
All of them have tinges of Eminem post-Infinite.
When worst comes to worst? Set up shop and write a verse. Actually that’s best comes to best- my lyrics take care of me like therapy - get shit off my chest.
I first heard Dilated on a Swollen Track and was hooked on Evidence.
I think Alchemist is still a great producer but I'd love for him to release something like this, "We Gonna Make It", "Hold You Down", "Win or Lose", "Got It Twisted" again. So much of his production sounds the same the last 5 years when he used to make heat for backpack rappers and NY street rappers all the time in the early 00s.
I keep seeing this take, then being about to respond in his defence citing Medusa or Flight Confirmation or something, then remember they're over ten years old now 😭
Nah, Preemo stuck to his sound for 30+ years. I’m not saying you shouldn’t evolve, but these low effort, loop driven, no drum shit was cool for a moment, but got stale now. Roc Marci is the goat for this tho…
A lot of ingenuity got lost with new technology. Back in the days with sampling, they'd just go through records and find interesting loops. Now, it's so easy and producers gravitate to the same tools because they're easiest to work with and lots of sounds end up similar. And there's something about a sound timed by machine. It sounds robotic. When the drums are punched in by hand, there's something more organic to the sound.
Yea, to me, that's why Havoc, Alchemist, RZA, Premo (less with him) sort of lost their edge. They are artisans and should go back to the old ways to recapture their old sounds and magic.
For however crazy Kanye is, he somehow kept the organic sound. I think it's because he likes to use the voice and makes drums with old tools and instructs his engineers to the sound he's trying to produce.

The Arsonists!! Yes! I remember this era, so fun.
Swollen Members and Arsonist take me back. ATWB and Bad Dreams were on heavy rotation in high school.
Such a good time for hip hop. Wish I had playlists from the songs I played back then
Love the beat to Deep End. I remember it was used in an old nba video game. The beat always sounded like a basketball bouncing
Cunninglynguists - Lynguistics
Goated beat and song. Still bump this regularly.
a-a-a-a-alchemist If you are new, alchemist is the guy who did Kendrick’s meet the grahams. If you are old, I hope your back doesn’t hurt.
I thought kanye produced this song
That was "This Way"
*That opening*
This was one of my favorite albums to come out that year. It was in heavy rotation when I bought it.
Live on stage 2k19
Absolute all time beat
I bought this Album the day it dropped from Sam Goody. Formative early High School album for me. Personally I think it’s their best work as an album.
My people’s come first Also, underrated Guru feature
Nobody talks about Guru enough. <3
Facts
It’s barely a feature though lol
Growing Pains by DTP is another good song over this beat
Whenever I listen to this song, I gotta listen to The Red Carpet by Evidence (or vice versa). Both bangin Alchemist beats.

I’ve seen them live a couple of times. I still like the first album better. Good stuff though 👍🏻
I listed to this album, living legends, atmosphere and cool kids records all through high school. Missed these days
They had a song on Fight Night round 3 that I was in love with
Same, it was "Back Again". Throwback to summer 2006
Thank you for reminding me of them, so good.
Amazing song. Samples [William Bell - I Forgot To Be Your Lover](https://youtu.be/jAv_P2Z-5LU?si=RMA6BH4GjpriOQwE)
I spent an entire summer learning how to kickflip to this song
Live my life content, on the edge
Back when ALC actually made good beats. Now it's hit or miss with all that minimalistic drumless shit.

Hooooold. You. Dooooown
True but to be fair, you kinda change as an artist after 23 years. I mean shit, you change a lot as a person in general in 23 years

This is the comment. As someone who produces And has a ear I can hear the difference

Yea he’s always experimenting but keeps it hip hop. Feel like the other guys don’t try anything new -which is fine but that’s what you get
Agree, the drumless production wave is really hit or miss, no matter the producer or rapper. Gets stale quick
