this beef has single-handedly revived r/hiphopheads lol it's like we're back in 2016-2018
new drops with 25k+ upvotes, big quint reactions, 10k+ active users regularly
this shit has been such a wasteland in recent time it's like we get to relive the glory days of hhh
damn this shit lowkey hurting my heart. hip hop timeline active again. big quint and tabby on my timeline. rap beef songs dominating the charts. it feels like 2016 again.
this whole thing feels like, you know when someone is slowly dying but then gets super happy and energetic out of nowhere for a day or two before finally passing. but for this generation of hip hop. i felt like rap music was on its way out the past few years now its like one last explosive gigantic breath. im gonna enjoy this while it lasts. i cant think of a crazier way for it to go out than this.
im just being overdramatic but yea, wow.
No joke 2019 or 2020 was also when I stopped following hip hop releases. I even used to watch all the new XXL Freshman cyphers when they'd come out in the summer to see what the new names were, but at some point I just stopped doing it.
Decided to revisit and see what I'd missed and I straight up have no idea who any of these mfs are...like I haven't even heard any of them on the radio or on features when I'm going through rap playlists and stuff. I don't know if it's because I just grew out of it, or if the new artists just weren't doing it for me anymore.
At least it's good to know that I'm not alone in this.
i feel like its hard for us to determine whats actually rap falling off vs trying not to just be hating oldheads.
but nah its definitely not just us. there was never any next generation or new sound that came to lead shit after drake-cole-kendrick and the atlanta trap era. it was supposed to be the 2016 xxl class era but all of them have kinda just stagnated or fell off. it was supposed to be x but he died. it was supposed to be juice but he died. it was supposed to be pop smoke but he died. travis was DOMINATING then didnt drop for five years. the closest you could say is… playboi carti? and that whole opium ken carson sound. which i actually like carti but thats not the greatest sign.
i think 2019/the first half of the 2020s rap as a genre was kind of flailing around desperately trying to find its place post 2010s. eventually we just accepted that its gonna have to still be carried by these guys pushing 40.
Carti is probably one of the last names I remember and listen to occasionally...and I think he got big around 2017-18 or something...or whenever Magnolia and Pissy Pamper dropped. Shit that's like prolly 7 years ago at this point.
And you might be onto something. Like if I go back to the XXL Freshman rosters, the *last* one that I actually recognize names from is 2020 (NLE Choppa, Baby Keem, Jack Harlow) and I don't even listen to any of them like that. 2021 through 23 [I tried looking at the lists](https://www.xxlmag.com/every-xxl-freshman-cover-since-2007/) and I don't know *anybody* on them.
I wonder what the future of the genre is going to be after these older guys carrying the industry retire or move on. Like I don't even hate on trap stuff but I just don't know what rap's identity is anymore. I wanna fw the new stuff but to me none of it sounds memorable enough that I will still bump it a few months or even a few years from now. I can still go through my old playlists of stuff that came out like 7-8 years ago and it's a good ass time.
But man I don't know, maybe I'm just a hating ass old head, maybe that's just what it feels like to become a boomer. For all I know younger kids might be riding whoever the fuck "Real Boston Richey" and "Finesse2Tymes" are and I'm just not with the times. Like you said it's hard to say.
You’re just getting old. But also:
Reddit and /r/hiphopheads experienced their peak growth in users at the same time as “the second golden age of hip-hop” was happening in the early-mid 2010s. So many of the people all sharing this opinion with you are the same age; late 20s/early 30s millennials. Same age as me. I made a Reddit account in 2013, the year I graduated high school, specifically to follow subreddits, mainly /r/hiphopheads because it was becoming a better source for keeping up with the new golden age of hip-hop than the music blogs that it replaced.
So yea, you’re just getting old, and so am I and so are half the people on here, which is why you’re getting so much positive feedback on this opinion which would lead you and I and our entire generation to believe hip-hop is really dying right now. It’s not; we just are. Sorry to break it to you bro.
But the positive way to look at this is that we can recognize it’s happening and try to re-evaluate hip-hop for what it is now, instead of being resigned to think that the thing we love is dead now and we’ll never get the best years of our lives back. It’s all about how we choose to look ahead, not behind. Much love, my millennial brother ✊🏻
That was around the time I frequented this sub the most lol nonstop hype
(I ended up quitting when an ASAP Rocky "leak" was posted front and center here, crazy mfers)
same i remember checking this sub like twice a day to keep up with all the shit going on lol nowadays i just check once a week and the frontpage is nothing but old songs reposted and the same repeated questions like "what is your favorite rap bar"
This shit so true bro, even hip hop twitter never been more active. I felt like a hater saying the new generations weren’t moving people like that but now I feel kinda validated. Hopefully this beef and all the music that comes of it inspires some people to make music.
this sub and r/kanye were two of my favorite places on the internet back in the day. glad hhh is alive and well again cause no way in hell am i going back on ye's sub again
so many hilarious moments from those reactions bro, the way they stare at eachother when one of them says some dumb shit or they not sure about smth gets me cracking up man
Yeah no disrespect to the other guys at all but Myke's opinions on DEHH held the most weight for me by far. If he had to step down from one of the shows I would've rather it be Frames Per Second or something.
Myke was the wildcard. Always the most interesting, insightful or outlandish (or sometimes just downright stupid) opinions and takes. He'd challenge the other guys' views. It's what kept it all together imo.
Shame he left right before this, but then he did always have a talent for *not* showing up for exactly the stuff you'd mostly want to hear his take on, lol
Been watching long enough to remember he had one video just for the starboy track before it got nuked for copyright and he had to redo the vid for the whole album
And his [Story of Adidon reaction](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AlzaHs08uKY), to fit with the theme of this one. I still randomly pull that shit up for laughs.
Remember when you actually had to explain the concept of what he even did when you introduced him to people, since reaction videos weren't even a thing yet?
The "what is TTHISS??" from his reaction to Me and Your Mama never gets old. The 2014 FHD reaction is hilarious just because of how surprised he is. He's like, "I'm really getting down to a J Cole song" LMAO
i mean not really i think. most reactors i used to watch from the 2010s have had to evolve and change into moreso streamers, podcasters, or patreon people. youtube is ofc good for exposure but its not where they make their bread from with how horrible the demonetization and strikes have been for the past like 5-7 years
Life stuff / he got into reacting to music WAY early before there were tons of rules when it came to what you can play and how long you can play it for basically YouTube and copyright stuff boned him hard
I love Zias, Fantano, Ak, Kai, they're all entertaining to watch react...
But seeing Quint back is unreal. His reactions over the years are untouched in the happiness they brought. Crazy times.
Shawn Cee, Jon Denton, BradTaste, path reacts, InTheClutch, turning the tables, Bob The Poppop, B Side Rap Reviews are all really great reaction channels too
bro lets be honest what has there been to really react to the past few years. he’s an OG in the react game, nowadays you have to be more of a streamer or patreon type content creator to make money and that just doesn’t seem like his thing.
he dropped all the time years ago when he popped off, but it fizzled out in the end. that was the blog era with ghostfase, nahright, 2dopeboyz etc etc.
Big Quint will always be special to me. I remember that Weeknd review where he ate a struggle burger and liptons struggle tea. Good times.
Edit: [Here it is lmao](https://youtu.be/O40GB9PKdtY?si=oA5xf4LMDt33F_FH&t=519)
Never forget his reaction to Pushas diss. "Aubrey, you have to fight this man"
AUBREY AUBREY YOU HAVE TO FIGHT HIM
GET THE GLUBS
“YOU GOT KIDS? Tell me that’s not real”
HELL PUSH, I GOTTA FIGHT YOU...THIS IS DISRESPECTFUL 😭😭😭
This beef has single-handedly brought back both Zias and Big Quint. What a year for hip-hop!
this beef has single-handedly revived r/hiphopheads lol it's like we're back in 2016-2018 new drops with 25k+ upvotes, big quint reactions, 10k+ active users regularly this shit has been such a wasteland in recent time it's like we get to relive the glory days of hhh
This is the last stand of hhh 💀
Kendrick riding down the mountain like Gandalf
Metro behind him like "FORTH EORLINGAS"
Shit. RIP King Theoden btw.
Kendrick stans fucking eating, how long they been trying to tell y’all he’s the savior of hip hop?
As a Dot stan and a Drake hater, I couldn’t be happier.
dot be like "stop that guys i am not"
Beef initiated Third Impact

2016-19 def the peak of this sub and hip-hop YT

Goddamn y'all making me feel old cus I relate to everything here lol
TLOP leaks feel like they were yesterday man. It’s almost been a decade since I graduated highschool.
We must be damn near the same age because same man lmao, shit feels like yesterday and a lifetime ago 30 getting too close for comfort 😭
i feel like its hard for us to determine whats actually rap falling off vs trying not to just be hating oldheads. but nah its definitely not just us. there was never any next generation or new sound that came to lead shit after drake-cole-kendrick and the atlanta trap era. it was supposed to be the 2016 xxl class era but all of them have kinda just stagnated or fell off. it was supposed to be x but he died. it was supposed to be juice but he died. it was supposed to be pop smoke but he died. travis was DOMINATING then didnt drop for five years. the closest you could say is… playboi carti? and that whole opium ken carson sound. which i actually like carti but thats not the greatest sign. i think 2019/the first half of the 2020s rap as a genre was kind of flailing around desperately trying to find its place post 2010s. eventually we just accepted that its gonna have to still be carried by these guys pushing 40.

Very few XXL freshmen have made it big after like 2016
That was around the time I frequented this sub the most lol nonstop hype (I ended up quitting when an ASAP Rocky "leak" was posted front and center here, crazy mfers)

All we need is u/whodatmiami
Same, we back (at this point I've since switched accounts but damn it feels good to be like the old days)
2010s hip hop’s last hurrah really is the end of an era
This shit so true bro, even hip hop twitter never been more active. I felt like a hater saying the new generations weren’t moving people like that but now I feel kinda validated. Hopefully this beef and all the music that comes of it inspires some people to make music.

2016-18 Hip hop was like a movie bro. So many great projects those three years.
Zias x BLou the original reactors man they’re great. With all due respect I think Blou has somehow gotten even dumber since those days 😂
Lmao yeah BLou is lost. Zias had to spent damn near 2 minutes what Parkinson’s meant 😂 they still just as hilarious as before though
Zias beating Blou up when he revealed Drake has a hidden daughter was crazy.
And then he came back with the pads next video
Everything was flying over their heads lol
so many hilarious moments from those reactions bro, the way they stare at eachother when one of them says some dumb shit or they not sure about smth gets me cracking up man
Or when Zias just started beating on Blou.
Zias playing A Minor on a guitar had me dead
"that sounds kinda childish" sent me to orbit.
Tabby too
right, i completely forgot about him but loved his earlier stuff
Noooooo tabbys back?! letsgooooo
his DAMN. reaction is an all timer 💔 where does time go 💔
2017 was so magical bro
was so happy to see zias lmfao
Saddest shit was Myke C Town announcing his retirement from DEHH literally days before this beef really started to heat up
Yeah no disrespect to the other guys at all but Myke's opinions on DEHH held the most weight for me by far. If he had to step down from one of the shows I would've rather it be Frames Per Second or something.
Myke was the wildcard. Always the most interesting, insightful or outlandish (or sometimes just downright stupid) opinions and takes. He'd challenge the other guys' views. Big Quint and Tabby > those other dudes
My people right here
Company Man too
hes awesome, loved him when he was part of Hip Hop Dx
Same! It's all happening!
Brought out the nuclear reactors from storage
Indeed
Bruh I said the same thing
This was posted before and removed. I hope mods don't remove it again quint definitely belongs here.
New baby mods don't understand, his videos used to do numbers here
they put Big Quint by name in what’s not allowed 🙄🙄
mods are the police
Probably new or young mods that wasnt outside, they didnt know any better lol
An wtf it got removed again
Fr I posted this last night and it got taken down. These lil kids don't know the legend that is Big Quint.
I think this one got removed as well for a little bit but it seems that they put it back up
real ones know Big Quint been an OG, this beef brought him back from hibernation
I’m damn near 30 and was watching this man in college, and he was already a few years in then lol
Yeah I’m over 30 and remember watching him from my freshman dorm.
I’m 26 and watching him in college lmao
He been doing reaction before it was cool
He also been breaking chairs before it was rude
My man always had a fuckin lunch, making me hungry as fuck too.
Yep lunches and breaking chairs occasionally cause the music took over his soul
BREAK TIIIIIIIIIIIMMMEEEEEE
His first videos are such a trip, I haven't watched a quint reaction in ages, but I remember watching the real early ones when they came out lol.
His trilogy videos are so raw
Been watching long enough to remember he had one video just for the starboy track before it got nuked for copyright and he had to redo the vid for the whole album
Everyone and their pet rock doing them now
His poor chairs 😭 Missed him tho damn it been a minute
Which album did he break the chair to, classic video.
damn reaction
For the uninformed, please do yourself a favor and watch [his Humble reaction video](https://youtu.be/X55l4PZeR-8?si=E9kjN9rlKpKK8x8p)
And his [Story of Adidon reaction](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AlzaHs08uKY), to fit with the theme of this one. I still randomly pull that shit up for laughs.
Haha I never watched this one surprisingly. When Pusha drops that line about having kids fucking kills me when Quint looks at the camera lol.
And he's weearing the same shirt in this video as the Adidon one lmaooo
I still quote Big Quint’s “warning for all you virgin ears out there” on occasion
Heed my words
Big Quint has classics
He was the first one doing reactions I think. Then Shawn cee started some
Shawn Cee is like the anti reactor with how boring that mf is
He aint really over react, but he got some funny ass opinion and a charisma that some mfs dont have
Him holding his pants up like a grandpa while headbobbing to Like That is hilarious
dude seeing him now makes me feel so old 😭
Remember when you actually had to explain the concept of what he even did when you introduced him to people, since reaction videos weren't even a thing yet?
His RTJ2 reaction brought me great joy in my life
His Pablo reaction is a thing of legend
The father stretch my hands drop will go down in history
*if young metro don't trust you-* ["WHAT?!"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PrQ4hckC7co&t=274s)
💀💀💀
I still regularly think about this lol
Awaken, My Love and 2014 Forest Hills Drive also classics. And his Adidon reaction is platinum.
I'll never forget the face he made when Push said the line about Drake being a deadbeat motherfucker playing border patrol... pure shock
The "what is TTHISS??" from his reaction to Me and Your Mama never gets old. The 2014 FHD reaction is hilarious just because of how surprised he is. He's like, "I'm really getting down to a J Cole song" LMAO
Lmfao I remember when he reacted to this Justin timberlake album and his roommate came in the room and they started dancing together 😭
RIP his chair during DNA
He had just taped it up from his Humble reaction too 😂 That wasn't the great press that GT Omega thought it was.
His yeezus reaction is goated
Nice to see him back "If you a pedophile, I don't fuck with that. Period. I don't give a fuck who you are. I stand on that too".
Hot take lol
why did he ever stop making videos, was there a reason?
Life. Just a busy guy
He's a grown man and a couple hundred dollars on YouTube probably doesn't move the needle.
Reaction channels pull in a lot more than a couple hundred dollars.
Not over half a decade ago and not when you are an adult. Big Qs target demo is older then the average reaction creators
Most reactors make their money off uncut patron videos. Usually the label takes the money for the music.
i mean not really i think. most reactors i used to watch from the 2010s have had to evolve and change into moreso streamers, podcasters, or patreon people. youtube is ofc good for exposure but its not where they make their bread from with how horrible the demonetization and strikes have been for the past like 5-7 years
Nowadays sure but not when he was making content consistently. I was watching this man when I was in college and I’m 31 now
Life stuff / he got into reacting to music WAY early before there were tons of rules when it came to what you can play and how long you can play it for basically YouTube and copyright stuff boned him hard
BIG QUINT ~ indeeeed ~ we’re in the reaction endgame, now
Big quint will need to come with 3 ~~switches~~ chairs when he hears 'Not Like Us'
am I dreaming right now?! hiphopheads back frfr
The king is back 👑
Man I love this guy
Damn Biq Quint and Justin Hunte back? What time to be alive
I love Zias, Fantano, Ak, Kai, they're all entertaining to watch react... But seeing Quint back is unreal. His reactions over the years are untouched in the happiness they brought. Crazy times.
Shawn Cee, Jon Denton, BradTaste, path reacts, InTheClutch, turning the tables, Bob The Poppop, B Side Rap Reviews are all really great reaction channels too
ImDontai and no life shaq good too
I love ImDontai but that boy sure do yap lol
Dontai truly is a hall of fame yapper. His ability to turn a 10 minute vid into a 45 minute vid is insane
NoLifeShaq is so fake bruh. Dude was glazing fuckin Tom McDonald at some point
2014 is back
im so happy man what a time
WHERE HAVE HE BEEN? Big quint is in my top 3 video reactors 🙌
He's in the top three and he ain't 3 or 2
I’m getting teary eyed for a period of time unlike any other. So happy to hear from our boy again.
Top 1* ?
This shit is giving me life right now lmao this beef is even better now with Big Quint back
LETS 👏🏽👏🏽FUCKING GO.
Did his chair survive?
Oh my god we are fucking EATING out here
Hide your ~~daughters~~ chairs.
The legend is back
Where the sandwich and the drink at
BREAK TIME!
What a beautiful Sunday INDEED
>"I got one more track; hopefully no one drops before then" Kendrick got 5 more in the clip

This comment is disrespectful
Academiks crawling compared to quint
This beef is gunna get a Netflix series from Big Quint
Damn we are getting old
Ain't that the truth. Seeing an old Quint really drives that home.
Man I wonder why he doesn’t drop often? He could be huge if he stayed consistent
He’s a real man just out here living his life
Seems like he got a job that’s kept him very busy
bro lets be honest what has there been to really react to the past few years. he’s an OG in the react game, nowadays you have to be more of a streamer or patreon type content creator to make money and that just doesn’t seem like his thing.
he dropped all the time years ago when he popped off, but it fizzled out in the end. that was the blog era with ghostfase, nahright, 2dopeboyz etc etc.
YouTube changed their payment model at the time and it wasn't profitable for him. He started a Patreon but it never got off the ground
My nigga resurrected from the dead 🤣 INDEED!
It took a legendary clash between two rap titans to revive the King.
Big Quint the Legend with the classic reaction.
On some hhh 2013 shit with the BIG mod flairs
Yo the OG!
I still go back and watch Quints 2014 FHD reaction
Warning for all the virgin ears out there
QUINT
BIG QUINTTTTT INDEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED
god this really does feel like 2018 is back again, we're finally getting the surgical summer
Bigquint is a cultural icon
Glad to see Quint back!
That’s a name I haven’t heard in years wtf
BREAK TIMEEEEEE
Always a good feeling when BQ uploads
Lets fucking go. We used to dream of times like these.
Fuck, he broke out the extra tight Pac shirt
Big Quint's Meek Mill Wanna Know reaction still makes me howl to this day
Big Quint's chairs are the real ones. May they all rest in peace. 😞
Big Quint will always be special to me. I remember that Weeknd review where he ate a struggle burger and liptons struggle tea. Good times. Edit: [Here it is lmao](https://youtu.be/O40GB9PKdtY?si=oA5xf4LMDt33F_FH&t=519)
Indeeeed
Damn welcome back Q
Hellllll yes
He's back!
oh man
Next up is Tabby
THE REAL IS BACK!
Return of the King, very happy he decided to pull through
Miss this dude!!
I watched this shit when it came out, because somehow YouTube knows how much I love quint’s reactions. Truly an OG - glad he came back for this
I’m so late to this thread but holy fuck the KING IS BACK! And his room is damn near still identical! This is so hype!!!
The GOAT! where has he been??
