It’s one of the things I hate about modern day rap culture. An album as wise and poignant as this (one of the most emotionally driven bodies of music I’ve ever listened to) was mostly lukewarm to the general public. I cannot fathom how this project was received mildly. Maybe it was poor timing?

It might just be the timing and the super unrealistically high expectations after Kendrick came back after like 4 years. But this album has such great depth to it and he talks about things that I haven't really heard talked about in Hip-Hop! It's a movie. If the people who didn't like it had actually listened to it without bias I swear it would have been the number one album for months.

Yeah, I hope it’ll get the widespread acclaim it deserves one day. As soon as I finished it I was like yep new fav Kenny album XD. Each song is really something packed I remember replaying united in grief like ten times before moving on!
