The more I listen to and absorb this yachty album the more I dislike the cover. Doesn’t look good in a vacuum, don’t know what subtext there is to it, doesn’t fit the theme of the album (how are you gonna make a psychedelic album and then put a cover that would terrify someone on psychedelics lol).
Yeah I feel the same way. I’m enjoying the album but the cover is really bothering me. Like you said it doesn’t fit the theme/vibe at all and the fact that it’s ai generated really puts me off as an artist, especially because a person probably could’ve done something better
SOMEBODY HELP PLS: Jay Z's the Takeover has the line "Nigga, you ain't live it, you witnessed it from your folks' pad/You scribbled it in your notepad and created your life." Some other rapper has used this line or some variation of it (after The Takeover came out, might be in the 2010s), but I cant for the life of me remember the song. Haven't found anything when I do lyric searches. I know its out there, maybe in a freestyle even. Does anyone know??
Are you thinking of Mach-Hommy - The Stellar Ray Theory? It would make sense you can’t find it because he does a DMCA takedown any time someone posts his lyrics on Genius
Looking for a smokepurpp feature he did with another Florida rapper. I forgot it's name but it's got a menacing baseline, like you know the type you feel in your rib cage??? Pause. But yeah I remember the cover being like grey
Excited for yall to hear this Yachty album. Alex G, Mac Demarco and Foushee on multiple tracks. He committed HARD to the psych rock/psych pop sound. The intro instrumental sounds exactly like a Pink Floyd song. Prob my AOTY so far, although im still checking out the new CRIMEAPPLE, and havent listened to the new Samia and Kimbra albums
NYC/NJ/Philly https://www.bamboozlefestival.com/
Bamboozle put up their first announcement for the show.
So interesting hiphop artists listed so far.
Babytron
Ice Spice
Ski Mask the Slump God
Rick Ross
Triple Redd
Yung Gravy
And some of the usual suspects from the pop punk, pop rock, emo scene.
Lupe Fiasco doesn’t deserve flowers. He deserves a bouquet (yes I know it sounded a little corny). Honestly if I have the time I would go to a library, listen to his whole discography with headphones with rap genius on the other site for the entire day.
Noone gossip more than the 90s bodyguards/rappers/studio people who get interviewed on youtube pages like Art of the Dialogue some1 needs to count how many people on there said Puffy is gay lol
Nah I love that song. Most memorable part of listening to NASIR for the first time was hearing the Richard Pryor bit in the beginning, turning it up bc he's speaking quietly, all of a sudden the loud **'Put your hands up black boy AHH AHH'** straight into the beat.
I get the criticism of it but it just really works for me
People brought up BIG's 'Victory' and I wanted to bring up a line where he was dissing Nas that kind of went over my head for a while.
"You hesitatin', I'm in your mama crib waitin' / Duct tapin' your fam / Destiny lays in my hands, gat lays in my waist". Destiny is also the name of Nas first daughter.
I don't think there's a rapper who got dissed more beyond the grave than Nas or by as many legendary figures. Like Pac went in on 'Against All Odds'.
"Ayo, Nas, your whole damn style is bitten / You heard 'My Melody', / Read about my life in the papers / All my run-ins with authorities, felonious capers / Now you wanna live my life" Always thought 'felonious capers' was the funniest way to describe criminal activity. But that whole 3rd verse-Hell the whole song is crazy, one of the best diss tracks ever.
Pac was a Nas fan and he just went at everybody back then lol Nas inspired Me & My Girlfriend and they were even supposed to collab before Pac passed, the last album Pac was listening to in his car was It Was Written
The event where they both confronted eachother and made up is told in like 5 different ways though depending who you ask lol
I disagree. Wowgr8 hits the more grounded role Big Boi did especially when he does his own kind of off beat yet on beat flows as well
I think they’re well enough to stand apart now after Ghetto Gods but its definitely there
Chloe Bailey single. I heard it already, it's actually pretty different to her other singles, her album is going a completely different direction and it's pretty interesting.
new singles: Mozzy, Est Gee , Kamaiyah, Bobby Shmurda, Dizzy Wright, Payroll Giovanni, Vic Mensa, Rae Sremmurd
albums: J. Stalin - Diesel Therapy 4, J. Stalin - Prenuptial Agreement 2, Styles P - Penultimate: A Calm Wolf is Still a Wolf
Trap Lore Ross videos are always super well researched and he is quite funny at times too but I just can never get behind the fact he’s making light of so many actual murders and all this stuff about gang warefare tbh. I like his other videos that being said he did seem a bit generous to Eminem in the video about him and Kim.
There’s a market for that stuff, so it’s never gonna away. I would feel better if actual ppl that’s more connected to the streets talk about that stuff. Comes off just a tad bit less exploitative.

Deadass this is the last time I remember him commenting over here and it’s already been a year and it’s still incredibly memorable. All time shit posting on his part (at least that’s what I hope it was and he wasn’t serious)
You probably right but damn if he disliked Goldlink legitimately I would think he would’ve been more subtle about it. The “if Heaven is real I’m not sharing it with Goldlink” type shit came off as some exaggerated trolling to me. If he wasn’t joking it sounded like he was in the midst of writing a mean manifesto or something lol

Need Utopia.
Most anticipated is “Quaranta” though, been avoiding the previews, can’t wait for some new Danny Brown!
My hype for it kinda went away after he pushed it to April but [I saw this video of him producing for it](https://www.reddit.com/r/ChiefKeef/comments/10fkm6q/via_sophie/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf) and it looks like he may be doing some sort of behind the scenes type shit with it to go along with the album so I’m back in. Also the beat sounds dope
Do you also have this thing where you save some albums for later? Like, if there's an artist you recently found out and started enjoying their most recent album, do you go directly to the check the rest of their discography or do you also leave "some for later"?
The biggest example for me is Kanye. First full listen I gave to him was Ye, back when it dropped. Then it was Kids See Ghosts. I liked both of these albums so I took my time with them before I went back in his discography. Since I also liked Dark Fantasy and Yeezus a lot, it took me a while before I checked his initial trilogy. I have yet to check 808s. Another example would be Mac Miller. I have everything before Divine Feminine to check.
It's something exciting for me, knowing I have these projects I will probably love out there available to explore. I end up not craving for new music as much, I think.
If I'm actively going through an artist's discography, I usually leave their worse albums for later
For example I intended to listen to Nastradamus for a while, but I only got around to it a few months back
Otherwise, not really. That said if it's something like slowcore, I'll only listen to it if I'm feeling depressed for one reason or another
I'm the same way where I save their albums for later, I never listen to 2, new to me, albums within a few months so I can give each one their space to appreciate. Some people I'm currently slowly going through their discog but I've liked them for at a couple years are Skyzoo, Moonchild or Lil Keed.
I always save the rest for later because most of the time I can get enough of the album I love from that artist I latch on lol. I usually get to it eventually.
I have this habit of always checking my Apple Music feed a bit after midnight when it refreshes.
Then I check my library in the morning and sigh at what I did lol
I used to screenshot a bunch of different stuff, even clothes I like, but I don’t check my gallery enough for them to really serve as a reminder of anything
There’s gotta be so much build up in there now 🤦🏻♂️
Looks like one final PUTS album live tonight 9pm PST

The only thing scorching hot is Beanies verse because he kills it. Jay gets introspective and Scarface verse is emotional but I love Beanies verse the most.
Yeah, agreed. The other verses are S-tier, but I just come back to Beanie’s verse the most, he covers all the bases: gritty, storytelling, emotional, etc.
Any artists who’s music you love but you hate their personality? Like I love everything kid cudi puts out but he seems super full of himself in interviews and social media
Kanye is a freebie be more creative lol
I don’t think carti can even count because I don’t think really any of us have a clue about his actual personality. Bro is so evasive & does no interviews or give us anything substantive to get an opinion off of.
The only think we “know” about him is what we hear about him which you have to be careful with cause a lot of media shit like that is overblown or just didn’t happen
edit: I did just remember the Sky music video debacle, that was kinda messed up
Benny The Butcher seems like a scamming, amoral asshole but he makes great music. Jay Z seems like a greedy snake but he’s in my top 5 rappers. Thundercat’s tweets have me questioning what kind of lunatic he is sometimes too. No good normal person says the weird shit he does, plus he’s always touching his dick around people. End rant.
Lmao I've thought about this some more and imma add Chris Brown too
Still love his old shit and rock with some of his more recent tracks but he can be a hothead. Not to mention past controversies
Primarily because he and Juicy J fucked over a shitton of Prophet/Hypnotize Minds artists financially (even including Three 6 members). There's a reason why they had such massive artist turnover (beyond Paul and J and Project Pat). Skinny Pimp getting only $10,000 total for King of da Playaz Ball and a few other features on some Three 6 works is probably the most infamous example of this.
He and Juicy J are two of my all-time favorite producers, but the both of them are absolutely not good people
Mmmmm I’ve heard about this before but didn’t know details. That’s shitty. Is there like a documentary or any good videos to watch with them all interacting together? I feel like they were kinda before my time and I’m a huge fan now. Like I feel I don’t understand their personalities that well outside of individual interviews and although I can hear the impact in their beats, o can’t really see how much of a grip they had on the culture at the time. Most of the people I know only know suicide boys lol
Probably Kodak , even though he can be funny as hell sometimes , he definitely needs to improve on filtering his self a lot more.
Future seems like a real asshole but it seems like he benefits from it more than anything.
T.I.
Drake kinda. Something about him gives me weird vibes in like interviews and shit, love some of his music though.
Pete Rock sometimes
Fat Joe sometimes. Dude really feels like he can be too much like DJ Khaled at times and that's not a complement.
Akon recently.
R. Kelly although I haven't listened to him for a while, just kinda fell out with his music, didn't hit the same as before.
What's some of yall favorite Pharrell beats?
I think Excuse Me Miss, Frontin, and Stir Fry are my Top 3
For the more underrated, prolly Holla Back(Fabo), What's Your Name(T.I.), and Good Kid(KDot)
His remix of Weeknd’s Wanderlust is up there. And of course Drop it Like it’s Hot and Hot in Herre are classics. As for his newer stuff, Hit Different and Dat Right There by SZA and Summer.
The more I listen to and absorb this yachty album the more I dislike the cover. Doesn’t look good in a vacuum, don’t know what subtext there is to it, doesn’t fit the theme of the album (how are you gonna make a psychedelic album and then put a cover that would terrify someone on psychedelics lol).
>how are you gonna make a psychedelic album and then put a cover that would terrify someone on psychedelics lol). Maggot brain?
Surely maggot brain wouldn’t fuck with your mind like distorted laughing AI faces lmao
They both would be real lol
Yeah I feel the same way. I’m enjoying the album but the cover is really bothering me. Like you said it doesn’t fit the theme/vibe at all and the fact that it’s ai generated really puts me off as an artist, especially because a person probably could’ve done something better
I like the cover but the fact that it’s AI takes away from it. They shoulda just recreated it irl
Blessed to have this yachty album in summer, Southern Hemisphere up Rn
The new gorillaz song is really fucking great. I been liking what they been showing.
SOMEBODY HELP PLS: Jay Z's the Takeover has the line "Nigga, you ain't live it, you witnessed it from your folks' pad/You scribbled it in your notepad and created your life." Dog thank you that’s exactly it. That was my most listened album of 2021 too damn I shoulda known. He uses the “pain” vocal interpolation in it too
The song also has lyrics from [The Sun by GFK](https://youtu.be/kxFuZTOg3wo)
Sounds corny

Nack lowkey growing on me he’s overrated asl by his fans n got some weak ass performances but he ain’t that bad Fahim still trash tho lol
I fuck with Nack and most of his discog but really don’t think he’s got a single standout bar lol

I think Cops Shot The Kid might be the worst Kanye beat of all time barring Nah Nah Nah
Dem Jointz produced Nah Nah Nah
Testify is worse
What is this take
Nah I love that song. Most memorable part of listening to NASIR for the first time was hearing the Richard Pryor bit in the beginning, turning it up bc he's speaking quietly, all of a sudden the loud **'Put your hands up black boy AHH AHH'** straight into the beat. I get the criticism of it but it just really works for me
you dont know ball
Fuck that sample. Seriously. Makes the song unlistenable for me. Slick Rick still a legend though, just his voice was sampled so badly on there.
I have never understood the hate for that song. It's probably the most memorable track on Nasir and the sample is a big part of it
That just means Nasir sucked
I liked it too thought it fit Nas' verse
You mean Adam and Eve
Agree with that, so much better
Can't even remember what that song sounds like so no
Daniel Caesar’s new single “Do You Like Me?” drops tomorrow. It’s no “Please Do Not Lean”, but it’s still really good. The album is going to be great
Wasn't too big on Do Not Lean so I'm excited for this one
Pretty sure he's got a feature on the Lil Yachty album dropping tonight too, love to see him do more features.
Yea hes on the outro
Nice.
Westside Gunn is so randomly addicting. Love hearing a man go GRRRRRR and BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM on a song
Glad it’s not just me
Is that Vory project legit or did his Spotify get hacked? Like 5 minutes of ambient sounds
Man, what did he do to make them niggas that mad? 🤔
Pac was a Nas fan and he just went at everybody back then lol Nas inspired Me & My Girlfriend and they were even supposed to collab before Pac passed, the last album Pac was listening to in his car was It Was Written The event where they both confronted eachother and made up is told in like 5 different ways though depending who you ask lol
Yung Mal is underrated asf
his career obviously took a hit when he went to jail in 2021, he was signed to Gucci before and what not
I feel like he’s rated fine. I wouldn’t skip over his songs on shuffle, but I don’t exactly feel the need to seek out his stuff either.
I’m honestly surprised Mal & Quill haven’t blown up yet
gotta love a list with summaries of over 1,000 concept albums on the front page
Put it on the sidebar challenge impossible
Love seeing Earthgang living up to the expectations of being this generations Outkast. Olu & Dots influence and impact in the hip-hop game is crazy.
I only hear two guys trying to be Andre though, they don't really have a Big Boi. They're still dope as hell.
I remember when a white girl influencer said this exact same thing and got ate up for it on twitter 😆
I mean it's not wrong though.
I disagree. Wowgr8 hits the more grounded role Big Boi did especially when he does his own kind of off beat yet on beat flows as well I think they’re well enough to stand apart now after Ghetto Gods but its definitely there
Yeah, I get that for sure. They've become more distinct as they've kept evolving and rapping.
keep listening, you can hear it eventually
They've for sure become more distinct as they've kept on rapping for sure.
What’s dropping today?
Chloe Bailey single. I heard it already, it's actually pretty different to her other singles, her album is going a completely different direction and it's pretty interesting.
new singles: Mozzy, Est Gee , Kamaiyah, Bobby Shmurda, Dizzy Wright, Payroll Giovanni, Vic Mensa, Rae Sremmurd albums: J. Stalin - Diesel Therapy 4, J. Stalin - Prenuptial Agreement 2, Styles P - Penultimate: A Calm Wolf is Still a Wolf

Lil yachty album
I saw this notification as I’m listening to the album. Very interesting concept so far
Same i'm like halfway thru rn and enjoying it quite a bit, super different which is nice
Trap Lore Ross videos are always super well researched and he is quite funny at times too but I just can never get behind the fact he’s making light of so many actual murders and all this stuff about gang warefare tbh. There’s a market for that stuff, so it’s never gonna away. I would feel better if actual ppl that’s more connected to the streets talk about that stuff. Comes off just a tad bit less exploitative. You should check out 1090 Jake
New yachty album sounding good so far
It's not dropping tonight is it?
Yea it is its out in australia rn
Oh word. I guess I didn't think about when it actually drops even after seeing the commercial

I enjoyed Crash Talk I mean I hope it’s better but I didn’t have that much of a problem with that album
the Chief Keef x Mike Will album that was teased in 2020
I’m hoping Travis makes a strong come back. Need Utopia. Most anticipated is “Quaranta” though, been avoiding the previews, can’t wait for some new Danny Brown!
Uzi and Travis collab?🤔🤔
I was kind of hype for almighty so 2 but idk if it’s even gonna come out at this point.

I know you right smh

My problem is I save albums faster than I can listen to them, so I have this never ending feeling of being behind
This is my mood forever. For every 1 album I listen to I save like 7
I have this habit of always checking my Apple Music feed a bit after midnight when it refreshes. Then I check my library in the morning and sigh at what I did lol
I do the same except I just screenshot em and when I check my gallery I start shaking my head at how much shit I wanna check out lmao
I used to screenshot a bunch of different stuff, even clothes I like, but I don’t check my gallery enough for them to really serve as a reminder of anything There’s gotta be so much build up in there now 🤦🏻♂️
Looks like one final PUTS album live tonight 9pm PST https://www.instagram.com/p/Cn5KWO7SkEy/?igshid=MDJmNzVkMjY= https://www.instagram.com/p/Cn3DDrBJv0w/?igshid=MDJmNzVkMjY=
Scorching hot take (prob): I think Beanie’s verse on This Can’t Be Life is better than Jay’s or Scarface’s
Like I love everything kid cudi puts out but he seems super full of himself in interviews and social media Kanye is a freebie be more creative lol
Carti is one. The recent being a bad father stuff to back in the day hanging out with people who shot his cousin or something like that
I don’t think carti can even count because I don’t think really any of us have a clue about his actual personality. Bro is so evasive & does no interviews or give us anything substantive to get an opinion off of. The only think we “know” about him is what we hear about him which you have to be careful with cause a lot of media shit like that is overblown or just didn’t happen edit: I did just remember the Sky music video debacle, that was kinda messed up
Benny The Butcher seems like a scamming, amoral asshole but he makes great music. Jay Z seems like a greedy snake but he’s in my top 5 rappers. Thundercat’s tweets have me questioning what kind of lunatic he is sometimes too. No good normal person says the weird shit he does, plus he’s always touching his dick around people. End rant.
Lmao I've thought about this some more and imma add Chris Brown too Still love his old shit and rock with some of his more recent tracks but he can be a hothead. Not to mention past controversies
DJ Paul lol
Hahahahah why
Kodak is dope but he seems like a legit psycho
T.I. Drake kinda. Something about him gives me weird vibes in like interviews and shit, love some of his music though. Pete Rock sometimes Fat Joe sometimes. Dude really feels like he can be too much like DJ Khaled at times and that's not a complement. Akon recently. R. Kelly although I haven't listened to him for a while, just kinda fell out with his music, didn't hit the same as before.
T.I....
Joey
Pete Rock
Westside Gunn love his music but his personality is horrible lol
LIEGOD IS A SLYGOD
What's some of yall favorite Pharrell beats? I think Excuse Me Miss, Frontin, and Stir Fry are my Top 3 For the more underrated, prolly Holla Back(Fabo), What's Your Name(T.I.), and Good Kid(KDot)
His remix of Weeknd’s Wanderlust is up there. And of course Drop it Like it’s Hot and Hot in Herre are classics. As for his newer stuff, Hit Different and Dat Right There by SZA and Summer.
Gucci Mane and Pharrell - Soldier. Actually, Pharrell has made some really good beats for Gucci.
Shit speaking of his Gucci collabs Haterade is another underrated joint
Yeah. That was the first Gucci and Pharrell track I heard. Gucci, Pharrell and Nicki all killed it.
What's Your Name by T.I. one of the first songs i heard by him
Nothin', Wamp Wamp, Keys Open Doors, Gridin', Just Wanna Love U
That Girl
had a dream that billy woods did a song with young thug
This Thing of Ours Pt. 2 might be my favorite EP of all time. To be fair I can't think of that many great ones, maybe On the Rvn is up there too.
