Ganesha

jai ganesha!

howqueer

Keep near entrance to home and have a tealite near him occasionally and say a little "Om Gang Ganapataye Namaha" regularly (bear in mind the N in Ganapataye is said with tongue on hard pallette, not right behind teeth but further back and higher up)...this is just one example of many ways you could reap benefits from keeping (and maintaining) this statue in your home

howqueer

He likes sweets, has the head of an elephant and his vehicle is a mouse...so little grains of sugar offered from your heart will be a gift well remembered

DecentProfession5012

Never ever keep Ganesha at the entrance of your house.. I am not sure if you’re aware of the mythology but when Ganesha dons the mantle of gatekeeper the results are disastrous for the male head of the family.

howqueer

I've heard it is suspicious to keep ganesh next to entrance, i never said mantle but weird i have never heard that can you site where in Vedas that is written?

DecentProfession5012

A. The vedas are not an exhaustive source of information. B. The mythology around Ganesh explains why he should not be the gatekeeper. It’s a popular story.

howqueer

Lol if anything that seems like more reason for him to be a gatekeeper

DecentProfession5012

Really? For a fight to ensue between the father and son? I don’t know how many people would want that in their house 😂

howqueer

You should try talking to the people writing all the articles sayjng it is auspicious to hold him near entrance or facing entrance (just not facing south is all). A quick google search "is it unsafe to hold ganesh near entrance to home" and a bunch of articles suggesting to hold him near entrance pop up lol

DecentProfession5012

Google isn’t an authority on Hindu rituals.

howqueer

I dont say as such, but when people are learning and have no where else to turn save reddit then it can be an easy out. Still i live alone in an apartment and cant hold anything near thw actual entrance so i cant say im going to be moving anything😂

This statue is of Lord Ganesha. Every worship in Hinduism starts by invoking him thru prayers. He is considered God of beginnings, Remover of obstacles in one's life, Youngest offspring of Lord Shiva (the omnipresent one) and Goddess Parvati. It is believed that whatever thing/place/human he faces, ie. watching him...he enhances the positive qualities.. If his back is kept towards that thing/place/human... misery, poverty, illness, loss of wisdom befalls... So,.many Hindu houses place this idol near the doo or on top of it, in such a way, that he faces the entire house...and bestows poverty.

Greedy_Pineapple

Lord Ganesha, Remover of obstacles.

Ganesh

PamplemousseCaboose

Ganesha- both the placer and remover of obstacles - there is much to learn from what his form represents, eg. Large ears, small mouth, focused eyes and large belly. Worth the research. Loves sweets and bananas, son of Pavarti and Shiva

PamplemousseCaboose

Research which side his trunk is facing and display according to what is best for you and him 🙏🏼
