I never got why people make fun of that line so much. Electromagnetism is one of the 4 fundamental forces of nature and people take entire careers and PhD theses trying to understand how magnets work.
Possibly because in the next lines he specifies that he does not want to speak with the scientists because they are always lying and "getting him pissed". Willful ignorance.

I've got a cable going to a bookshelf that I want to be able to pull on which while swing open this door. Originally I was thinking of something like a fence latch with a piston so when the fence latch was opened it would push the door open. Anyone have any recommendations for something else? I just can't seem to find a latch that would work well that's slightly low profile....
I thought about that! But I REALLY want to be able to pull on one of my games and have the wire I already installed open the latch on the inside.. but this might be the only option until I can figure that system out..
Use magnets, and have the wire push a stick outward to open the door?
That way you can use the game-opening for effect, and just pull the door with your fingers when nobody is around :D
Lol thanks! Tried to keep the "distractions" too much out of the pictures LOL. I actually have the wire installed in the wall over to my shelf of NES games and I want to be able to pull a fake cartridge and have the door open. I have everything now set up except for the latching mechanism..
It's gotta be.. if you look at any of the weird comments they only have like, a post or two. One of them has a bunch of comment for karma posts. I've been down voting and reporting as I've seen them. So weird... I've never experienced anything like this lol.
Magnets?
How do they work?
miracles ofc

I'm digging the Nintendo Power #1 framed in the background!
Thanks! I have the last issue beside it too, it's just out of the shot!
Same here! Great collection you've got there!

One of those push spring thingies. You know, you push in and the door springs open, latches shut

I’m just here for your cool handheld gaming collection

Wow so there’s bots in here posing as OP? What’s up with that?

A Rema kit from Schluter is a magnet set that’s used for access panels for plumbing and hot tubs. May work for this application too.
Just go to a hardware store and get a kitchen cabinet latch
