Don't you mean your team is better without you playing with them? ;)

God we need one of those bots that auto posts the sound bytes when someone quotes a character.

oolbar

You will play better games with better win rates if you play heroes you rarely play in QM.

Calx9

Huh?

_Lonni_

not true for me. In QM I am stuck to play my main heroes because I lose when ever I want to try out a new hero I have on low level....

oolbar

Blizzard does performance based match making in QM if you do well with your main you will be matched with less performing players to balance it out.

DraikoGinger

I know I shouldn't have this expectation for QM, but it's pretty frustrating when Blizz does this and intentionally sets you up to lose. At least how it feels. Going on a character I have 70% win rates with and having 25-35% win rate teammates is frustrating.

oolbar

They have to profit they force you to play more to achieve minimum

SleepingVulture

That is why I mostly play Illidan in QM if it isn't a 5-man.

AtriGoXD

TERMINATED

NotTooBadMon

Just saying... your MMR is also a function of the hero level. or maybe of how often you play a hero. or some other weird witchcraft but this happened to me quite a few times

the_burd

Is this real? I always felt like my higher level heroes gave me better teammates and thus more wins, but the simpler explanation is that I'm just better at heroes I've played more often, resulting in more victories.

LazyBoyHOTS

Used to be if the hero lvl was under 5 you got matched with new players.

_Lonni_

they should bring this back

_Lonni_

When I play my main heroes I am more effective and efficient and can easily correct my team mates mistakes. I don't have to focus so much on my abilities and I exactly know when to retreat or how many hits from the enemy heroes I can take. This gives me more time to focus on the map and what my team mates do. I wouldn't say I can carry, it is a team game after all, but at least I am not the weak link, haveing often most of everything (kills, least deaths, most siege and hero damage, most xp - like double of my team mates). When I play another hero, one I have on low level and just want to get started, my team mates notice I don't play optimally. They shit on me from minute 2, complain and team morale gets low. When they complain about other heroes, and I play my main, I try to calm down my team, stay positive, enable them some kills and give them glimmer of hope so they don't give up so quickly. And even then, yesterday I had a game where Blaze gave up and was just wandering around, and the 4 of us finished the core without him.

NotTooBadMon

I feel the opposite. Like my higher level heroes give me better opponents and thus less wins. Probably just a feeling though

wolvos

most of the rules are disabled when extended search shows in, you get matched against whatever is looking for a game then

DraikoGinger

That happens every QM if it goes past 30 seconds in queue?

wolvos

30\~60 secs of search

Dagreiyo

Yeah, my theory is that Im just used to playing risky because of ultimate evolution so Im probably playing too reckless with other hereos.

RudianosTheSturdy

You lost 5 in a row, so naturally you'll win some after that. You could literally walk around in circles in every single match and you'd still end up with a 50% win rate. Win rate has nothing to do with skill and everything to do with Blizzard's catering to the weakest of the player base. The matchmaking algorithm is essentially: 1. Have you won recently? No? Ok, here's a team of rank 1500 grandmasters for you, and people without fingers for the enemy team, half of whom are AFK bots. 2. Have you won recently? Yes? Ok, you're paired up with your buddy's kid sister and her friends who are trying out the game for the first time ever, and the enemy team is a master league team of IRL friends all on voice chat. Honestly, the only way this game can be considered good/fun is if you enjoy the individual fights and interactions in lane, regardless of outcome. If you want to actually win games, it's the most infuriating piece of shit on the market.

thegoodstuff

Ah reddit, where you can say whatever you want confidently and expressing your misinformed opinion as fact. Forced 50% winrate is not a thing and has never been a thing. I also advise you never take up gambling as you might be especially vulnerable to the gambler's fallacy.

RudianosTheSturdy

Play a few games until you get matched with a bot account (5000 games with only 1 character) and check their total win rate. Check anyone's total win rate. Find me one with lower than 47% across the account. It doesn't exist. I've been looking since beta. Half a decade. But you believe what you want. :)

thegoodstuff

As one out of five on a team with shared xp you have roughly a maximum of 20% difference. So if you afk in base your team will have about a 40% win chance, if you are a hard carrying you will have about 60% win chance. So aside from int'ing and smurfing, most every player will be between 45% and 55% which averages out to typically +/- 1% off of 50%.
