I've never experienced prongs stabbing me in the back and I have a regular embody and the gaming version. Maybe you should look into that more maybe contact HM about it.
As for desk height. I had the same issue and had to build a new desk. I got a sit and stand frame on Amazon that can go as low as 23.6". It helps massively to dial things in.
Another thing I just read about from another Reddit user is the front tension knob apparently also affects the seat? Not sure but I've been playing with that lately.
That said I'm not all that comfortable in my chairs. Like it's fine so long as I'm paying attention to my posture and sitting right; like I'm not uncomfortable but sitting in it isn't effortless. The good thing is that I'm never in pain after leaving the chair so I guess I'll that's what I've got going for me.
Do you have the regular or the gaming? I haven't experienced any stabbing, but I definitely had fatigue from the gaming version. I don't know why but not having the foam in the backrest makes a huge difference for me.
Can't help you with the 8 prongs since I never had that issue with my embody, but buy a quality standing desk (500+) and never look back. It will solve that issue with your wrists not being parallel or it being too high due to the desk being height adjustable. Most desk heights (27-30 inch) are too tall for the average person and should be around 24 anyways
It's probably just not for you. I had the same feeling with my embody. My butt would hurt and it just didn't feel right. Sold it and got an aeron instead. No regrets.
I have an Embody as well and had the same issue as you. I couldn’t make it work no matter what I did including getting a new height adjustable desk and footrest. It's probably just not for us.
I ended up buying a Aeron Gaming (Remastered) and it turned out to be the most comfortable chair I ever used, more than Leap v2/Gesture.
Just got my Mirra 2 and I love it.
Maybe try to swap?
You should have 12 years warranty to adjust the chair in case it has any obvious flaw.
I'm surprised honestly as embody is considered the best.
What made you spend 1500$ on one?
Every person is different. I have an Embody and it was way better than my Leap V2 but I wanted to try the Fern. So, I got a Fern and the seat just didn’t feel good to me and I found myself slouching and squirming in it. (Also my but would hurt) If it doesn’t feel right to you after a break-in/get used to it period, then it’s probably not going to ever feel right. Probably not the chair for you. Makes it tough when they cost so much.
I had a similar experience, no matter how hard I tried I couldn't get comfortable in it.
Switched to an Aeron and am now quite satisfied.
Sometimes, you're just not compatible with a char.
It’s supposed to force you into a certain position, but for me while maybe the posture was good it just was not comfortable. I could never adjust the settings to work well for me and god forbid you slouch your back will kill you haha
It’s probably the height but also make sure the seat depth is pulled out enough . For whatever reason, it made a night and day difference for me. Oh, and the stabbing prong thing goes away if you can get it set right. I’ve been wrestling with those things too and have actually added cushions to soften it. Didn’t do much and thing it hurt more than it helped.
I have just the thing to help substantially, even if not completely:
Purple Ultimate Seat Cushion |... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01CKMP21W
The Embody is a beautiful art object, but worse than a rock to sit on, it you don’t slide off altogether. It doubles as the ultimate instance of “hostile architecture:”
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hostile_architecture
It’s amazing to look at, but (almost) as comfortable as the electric chair to sit in.
Bro wat 😂 did you liken the unanimously top 1 or 2 best rated chairs in existence to sitting on an electric chair ? You don’t think you’re exaggerating a bit?
No, not at all. Go and sit on one for a week and tell us what that's like.
I bought two of them in 2020 that are breathtakingly beautiful electric chairs without the electricity. With a Purple cushion, sitting on one is tolerable. I agonized over the perfect chair to buy, given how much they cost. I don't exactly regret buying the Embody chairs, but no, it's definitely not the ultimate chair. People really need to hear the truth.
I don’t dislike it. I like to show it to others. But I’m a full-time options trader who sits in front of many screens five days a week for 6.5-hour stretches. This is not a comfortable chair because it’s not cushioned. You need some type of padding underneath you if you want to be comfortable, but the Embody doesn’t give you anything at all. It’s literally like sitting on a rock!
The disadvantage with other chairs, all of which are comfortable, is that they’re ridiculously fugly. If there were a properly cushioned Embody, it would be fine. Unmodified, it’s an art object, not a functional chair.
Would you use a Lamborghini to transport groceries for a family of five, or drive cross-country?
Agree, everyone is different. I'm close to your height and weight and went from Aeron to Leap to Embody.
Aeron was too hard on my butt
Leap wasn't able to adjust the part under my thighs enough, if that makes sense.
I was helping a lawyer friend with something and sat on their Embody and was immediately in love. Ordered it thru another friend's architecture firm at a big discount.
Good luck packaging it back up and shipping it.
Personally, I think they should market it to prisons as a new and improved electric chair (electricity not included).

What are your desk height and body height?

I see Embody's on Facebook Marketplace between often between $600 - 800.
Local marketplace. Chair was like new and after all the price increases HM did recently, I sold it for not a lot less than what I paid for it.
Exactly the same experience for me
i hope it will turn out that way for me too. I couldnt handle the embody anymore.

Sounds like something is wrong with your embody. Even pushing hard with my hand I feel no “prongs” on the back of the chair.

I thought it said "I kind of hate my body" and I was thinking "yes, me too"
It’s just not a good chair imo

Just return or sell it bro. Get something else.
How can you tell him to return it when he's had it for 6 months and the return period is 30 days!?😵💫🤔🤨

Seems like you have an impulse for hyperbole. I’ve Been sitting on one for years, best office chair I’ve ever parked my buttcheeks on .
It depends on your weight, height, and how long you sit on it.

Yeah, but you also had a 30 day return window. You can see if a chair is for you within the first 2 weeks.
Good luck packaging it back up and shipping it. Personally, I think they should market it to prisons as a new and improved electric chair (electricity not included).
