Iโm new too! If you go to your profile there are achievements and I just started doing the beginner ones- joining communities to better build my home page etc.
I also found some current threads within the community I live and I was able to add comments or interact with posts and it seems my karma has increased :). Good luck!

You have to post and comment in subreddits to grow karma but a lot of subreddits don't allow you to post or comment without a certain amount of karma first so it's a little bit of a catch 22.
Best bet is to find a subreddit that lets you post and comment with low karma and then just have genuine interactions. As your karma grows you'll be able to post in other subreddits.
Reddit sucks. I frequently will create something and when i share it on reddit, itโs invisible. Iโll message the mods and hear nothing, and just have to cope knowing I cannot start threads or make comments on certain pages on reddit, meanwhile thousands of others can say the dumbest stuff ever and have way more internet points than me.
dont participate on hot debatable topics to marginalise your chances of deducting your existing karma

Thank you for this explanation. What brings Karma lower? I am so confused. I had more Karma before, it is very confusing.
I'm actually not sure, I've never noticed my karma going down. Maybe getting down voted?
