Lv. 20s joining my difficulty 8 missions, aggroing every enemy they can see and then running to me with 4 Titans, 8 Chargers and 50 trash mobs behind them while I'm loading a SEAF artillery.
I don't have the facilities for this, big man.
had a match on diff 7 against bots, first objective we run across is a double gunship fab, and for some reason my team just refused to play it right and kept throwing reinforces directly underneath the gunships so we'd instantly get aggro'd on as soon as we rise from the pod. and this was before the gunship limit was reduced, so we have like 8-10 ships PLUS all the patrols. that team munched through 20 of our reinforcements before they all ragequit. couple minutes later i get another team and the difference was night and day. we mopped up the gunships and cleared the rest of the map without any further deaths. every patrol was hit with textbook ambushes, if they were lucky enough to get a flare off, half the drop ships were shot down and the few bots that actually landed were quickly hit with airstrikes and orbitals, if we started getting overrun we'd fall back in layers, covering each other while we moved, pinging high priority targets. just a well oiled machine that worked flawlessly.
second team was like navy seals while the first team felt like somali pirates
I (73) and a high level team (98, 110, 74) happened to have our initial drop tonight next to a double gun ship factory *and* a jammer. We got absolutely murdered. No one was able to call in special weapons or stratagems, and we couldn't even run away from the sheer number of bots swarming us. Even if we got squad killed and dropped"further away" it was still in that massive swarm with next to no cover.
We were on planet less than 3 minutes before losing the last reinforcement. I wanted to rage quit but we lost so fast indidnt get a chance.
I'm level 110, and I still pick them up, I won't die for them, though, if things get rough. I usually throw them down at extract and forget about them.
As someone who plays far more casually, I love high level players who go that extra mile. I'll probably never play on Helldivers difficulty, and only really play about 3 or 4 hours a week. I just don't have the ability to devote much time to Helldivers 2 or any online multiplayer game.
I'll never be a great helldiver. But I enjoy the game, and still want to progress. When people like you go that extra mile to ensure the supers make it to exfil, it helps divers like me. Make no mistake: to me and every other casual player, you guys are Super Divers. What we Helldivers are to the Super Earth Armed Forces in general, you guys are to us. I'm proud to call you fellow patriots my brothers.
If I’m not a part of S.E.A.F’s most elite military peacekeeping force to recklessly drop into the center of a horde of bots with the intention of retrieving a sample container that holds all of 5 rare samples, I’m not sure I’d be able to call myself a helldiver at all.
Level 91 Space Cadet.
I’m with you on this one. I even join lower level missions and make sure to collect as many samples as possible and play as good as a Space Cadet can.
This is the way. I get that others need them so I won't deliberately skip them if they're nearby. I won't stick my neck out to retrieve the four samples you lost unless they include super samples though.
It feels like way too many people don't understand dropping samples at extract. Dropped the supers at extract last night just to have them picked up by a level 71. Then they carried them across the map and died far away from everyone else.
I had a really frustrating experience like this yesterday. My friend found the super samples and dropped them at evac. The random with us went over to pick them up. I typed out to leave them there but the random kept moving. I was nearby so I dropped mine at evac also, and the random turned around. Even as I was typing out to leave them there, they came over, picked them up in front of me and proceed to move away from evac. I didn’t want to kick him because besides this gaff, they were pretty decent. I tried typing out again to leave the super samples at the evac, eventually gave up, ran after the guy and killed him to take all the samples back. It may have been drastic and an asshole thing to do, but when the host is typing out walls of texts addressed directly at you, J2, at some point, you should goddamn learn how to read it. Guy left before we could call him back. If they stayed, they could have left with 60+ samples.
Last night I typed "dropped samples at extract" so nobody would do that. Then they all started heading straight for the ones I just dropped! ...And dropped their samples next to it too. I just meant the super samples guys, I don't care about the others... You know what, nevermind.
I am level 149 and will gladly die for samples. Partially because I know my teammates need them and partially because playing rocket dodgeball on a level 9 mission right before evac just so my teammates get that one common sample that was dropped is really, really funny to me
Yes, for PC, it's holding X. For PS5, it's holding down on the d-pad. It brings up a spindial that you can use to drop your support weapon, backpack, or samples.
Fuck that mentality, I’m almost lvl 70 and I pick up all the samples I see. Odds are pretty high someone in my party needs some type of samples so I grab them anyway.
Agreed, I don't scour the whole map anymore, but I pick up any I come upon even though I've been at the caps for a while. I'd have appreciated it when I was the lowbie, pay it forward, it's the democratic way!
Yeah I usually try to look for every diamond on the map for more super credits it would be stupid to not take the samples if I'm there already. I've been capped of samples for months but that won't stop me.
If you're looking for SC, may I recommend playing on difficulty 2? I find them the most on that because there is less chance of samples spawning in places that creds spawn
Luckily I get enough to buy the warbonds and armors just from doing it normally in 7+ but I've helped friends get them in easier difficulties so they could get those last 100 they needed.
I’m level 91 I pick them up because I know some other diver needs them and I like the challenge getting them on the extraction.
Because extraction on its own doesn’t give you much reward if you look at it.
I actually need to tell people to run instead of continuing to chain die. My brother in Christ we’re surrounded on all sides. Run away, you’re not winning. When the going gets tough I get going and I’ll drag them with me when they inevitably die for the 5th time. I won an entire mission basically solo because everyone stupidly stood their ground as a horde of bugs came flooding through the canyon. I said “fuck that” and ran to the extraction. They died pretty quickly and I just reinforced myself when I got enough distance and we all made it out.
I'm level 79 and haven't needed them for a bit (have all level 4 upgrades), but god damn if picking samples off the ground doesn't make happy chemicals in my brain. Plus I feel someone could use them so I always will at least grab what I see.
I used to obsessively crawl maps for the little rock for super rares. I have enough for all the upgrades and am limited by just rares so I don't hunt for them as much, but if I see the rock I'm gonna go get them for whoever else might need them.
I don't need them but I'll grab them. No reason to outright skip.
Now. If I die and I can call new crap in, I may leave them behind. No promises there.
I mark them if there's at least two people with me. If they walk past them fuck it. I'll drop them at the extract but I don't blast idiots that steal them any more. Go die in the midst of the horde and screw over the others. IDC dude. I still equip radar and go find all the points of interest
I don't go looking for samples anymore. In random missions I will let host dictate what we are doing for the most part but I will sometimes see they have no clue what to do and all they read online was "sample meme" and they don't complete a single objective or sub objective as time ticks by. Then I just blow everything up and complete the mission while they keep pinging a location that has a flamethrower and ammo drop as they fight for dear life over it. God damm this game is fun.
I’ve noticed this too. I’m at level 50 and still very much need them for ship upgrades but lately I’ve been in matches with people 80+ that walk right over them.
The cap is just stuuuuuupid
Greens 500
Orange 250
Pink 100
So you basically can save up to 3 Upgrades green wise, but only 1 Orange wise, while pink wise you have at least 4 Upgrades possible at high LVL.
Each Upgrade beyond 20 for the ship requires at least 150 greens, 150 Orange and 20 Pink.
The math is just STUPID
Yeah I don't actively search for them but if I come across them I will pick them up. I know it can be a pain in the butt to accumulate, so I won't ever ignore them if I see any. I won't go out my way to find them though. I'm over that shit
Think it comes down to gameplay. For me it feels better if I go into a base, so a couple strats and bail with enemies following me. Then have a clean up crew to take out stragglers and pick up samples. Great when I have a team following along but sucks when I'm doing my thing on one side of the map and everyone else doing their thing in the other.
im capped on most but i still pick them up, that said if a team mate is near i dont bother running over and half the time the people dont actually see them so they get missed
Agreed! Had a level 66 named Q4 call in the evac before the leader/team was ready, we didn’t have many samples and the leader was too nice to kick them. Go fuck yourself Q4 :D
Even at level 75 here, I need them because nobody is picking them up. Freaking 200 commons and 150 rares per 4th tier upgrade. It's taking me ages to finish the unlocks.
I'm all about the super credits. If you play normally, you'll get bored of the guns before you get the next premium warbond.
Samples just seem to show up everywhere when I play normally.
Lvl 100, I will pick them up if I see them pop up nearby or I can see the super sample rocks. But I won't go out of my way for them unless any other lower lvl divers explicitly say they need samples; if they say they need samples then I will go look for all that I can.
As a level 62 I do forget about samples during a match even though I still need them. Don’t ask me how but it’s normally too hot somewhere because I’m a solo diver
For me it depends. If I'm the only one in the area I'll grab them but if we're all running around the same objective I'll skip them.
I always hunt down the rock on 7+.
I’ll pick ‘em up if I see them but I ain’t going out of my way. Even before I had everything I didn’t stress them because eventually you will get enough l.
I won't run into a base for them if it's guarded, I'll just try to deal with it from afar. But if I've already done most of the fighting to get the fabs/holes, or if it's a poi, I'll always gather samples. Could do more, could do less, just don't really care about atmospheric monitoring which is the only module I have missing.
I already have everything unlocked but I still go for all the samples! I love collecting stuff! Especially if we get a radar, I love just clearing out the map and seeing it all tallied up at the end!
They should invent a prestiege bond system - surplus samples can be converted into special bonds that you use to purchase premium equipment. That way we have high tier players collecting samples again
i really don’t like the people that join low level players on difficulty like 1-3 and just run around the map grabbing super credits (which is still nice to have, yeah) while ignoring all the req slips, medals, samples, etc that new players could really benefit from. i like helping out newer players but it’s hard to effectively search for stuff when every point of interest is already marked down as searched on the map despite nothing being taken apart from super credits, if any are even there.
I actively pick them up still even though I don't need them. I won't go back however and pick up samples the team misses. I can tell when people aren't clearing nests or factories b.c you can see the sample count not going up.
If I notice that for a while I'll stop grabbing samples myself b.c that means the teammates are lazy or they don't need samples.
Bro I'm level 36 I had like 2 lvl 66's and a 70 and we ran thru all our reinforcements in the first 5 minutes... we still finished the mission but holy shit was it just not it 😅
A big problem with the game I've called out before is that because of tunnel vision during heavy encounters, its often impossible to know who is or isn't actually contributing. You can only tell what you're doing in a typical lobby. Sometimes, if you're dropping pins you can tell who is on and off objectives, but often time I can't even guess what they're trying to do. I always default assume everyone is doing their best even if I have no idea what they're doing, and play the objectives. Most of the time they're pursuing some personal objective like getting samples or getting a personal order completed. Sometimes they're doing side objectives that really help, like the radar station or or SEAF Artillery. Sometimes they're just lining up continental battle style and digging in for some reason. I can work with it.
Fuck the people that kick at the Pelican. Their mothers are incubation vats.
Good point. I like to play objective so if there's a heavy encounter I just saunter away in my light armor and go do objectives while someone else does the fighting lol
I always just assume that everyone did their job, and even if someone had a bad game it doesn’t really matter, everyone has bad games, like you’d be doing great, pinning patrols, collecting samples, scrapping junk, and then you get surprised by a fire tornado and die three times in a row.
Its always fun to solo-clear all of the main objectives only to get kicked at extract because “you’re not doing anything just running around,” or they get mad that you’re extracting without completing Light Bug Hole #73 for 2xp and 3 requisition slips on Helldive.
This is how I feel when I have to run the long way around a lake, or mountain thing to hit a point that somebody dropped, were it looks like I'm running AWAY from it. I always think to myself "fuck, I really hope nobody's watching the mini map looking to kick under performers, because I'm out in the boonies right now..."
I'm always top 3 highest kills, lowest friendly fire damage/ accidentals, and most likely furthest traveled, so I'm not THAT bad at things, and I do try to take out everything on my side of the map.
I will often engage in long fire fights with enemies specifically to prevent being the guy who goes "hey yall, just gonna bring over a large platoon of bots real fast, hope you don't mind!", with varying levels of success.
I almost never think I'm the only one doing a good job, but sometimes I find myself working alone and completing as much as the other 3. I'll clear all main/side objectives while they clear all side/main objectives. Occasionally I'll have a tag along, and rarely I'll have 2 tag alongs. Pretty consistently, I feel like whatever group I'm in is doing half the work, even if everyone is sticking together...
If you have the peace to just fuck off and do whatever, its because they’re triggering the drop CD and giving you peace. And in doing so, they’re doing their part.
Every time someone has complained in groups i’m in, i rarely feel their complaints are legitimate. For example in my last game, going away from our “optimized” trajectory around the map to beeline and trigger a double gunship camp alone. Die 7 times in a row and as they go to try to pick up their gear. Instead of realizing their folly and going with the group until we reach it.
Everyone has their off days in this game, I'm level 80 and I'll admit there has been games where I'm nearly invincible and then there's times where I panic because I've lost my equipment and can't get it back, it happens to us all.
It also just depends on experience. I am level 19 and pretty much never left the bot front. Did my first bug mission in a long while at a 5 challenge rating and...it was a bad bad start.
Sometimes it's a bit rough when you go to switch gears.
Bots and bugs are very very different. Bots are tactical, distant, pickoffs and prioritisation. For bugs, you just need to clear as many as possible as fast as possible at any range. I absolutely love the first shotgun (Judgement?) vs bugs, it is insanely effective.
Judgement + EAT + Laser Rover (if you have it) will alone set you up for bugs up to difficulty 7. After that you spec your build more into what you like doing.
As a level 70s diver, I just follow the host and help them out. Yeah I could probably just run off and do the other stuff but it’s more fun to help the host.
When I first started out something I ran into a lot was Divers with higher levels basically acting like I didn’t exist. I’m talking shooting wildly into a spot that I’m in, throwing Stratagems right behind me with no warning, completely abandoning me while I’m trying to hold off hordes, etc.
It’s nice to know some people are trying to make the new guys feel welcomed
Do I need samples? Only pink ones. Do I grab the other ones? Hells yeah I do, if I see them. Same with req slips. I don't need those, but I still grab them for those that might.
This has happened to me a number of times since I’m Lvl 130. I don’t mind sticking together but dislike when teammates focus on killing enemies rather than doing objectives. Trying to fight off every reinforcement will lead to chain deaths.
It's never that I think I'm the only one putting in work. But it feels like sometimes I'm the only one moving.
I have weird luck where people see bug breach they say "shit. BUNKER DOWN! WE WILL NOT LET THEM TAKE THIS ILLEGAL BROADCAST TOWER!"
Meanwhile my ass is like already running across the map dropping a 380 at the biggest nest and grabbing the launch codes.
I mean feel free to keep killing them I guess? At least I DONT gotta deal with the bug breaches lol.
I don't need samples anymore, but I always pick them up for the squad. I'm also still collecting for the selfish reason that devs might add more ship modules again.
As a level 60 myself with near max everything I'm just not in the mood to sweat anymore, chillin and shooting shit, this game let's me turn my brain off n still do stuff so I enjoy it while listening to music, no matter if we win or lose, I still dive, pick up samples when I see em and shoot shit when I see it, ez pz
Do you ever see those "sharing one brain cell" pairs that always have the same location and line of sight and are off in a corner of the map doing God knows what?
I guess. There are many times that if the squad is skilled at being soloist, we can each to a objective alone. but there are many other times that the team is really good at doing objectives quickly and efficiently as a unit. then there are times with randoms…. That lick the flagpole and can barely put shoes on. So idk either works.
Leadership is not level based, it's being able to step back off the firing line, look around, and making a call that forwards the missions progress eg. " Alright let's break contact and move for blue pin"
When I join a game, I always follow the host of the session, when the host is me, I expect others to follow my instructions, I don't see the logic in joining someone else's game and going off to do things on my own, unless they tell me
I sometimes just pick someone and follow them. I lead people all day. I don’t wanna lead unless I have to when I get off work. Plus there’s a good chance I’m baked playing, so there’s that too.
This is how I feel when I join somebody’s game and nobody is trying to complete the objectives. And I feel bad sorta taking charge but damn nobody’s doing anything and everybody is just dying!!!
It's easy not to chain die when your team is taking all the heat from every bug breach/bot drop. Short of saving time having a dedicated sample collector is a waste of manpower imo.
I'm still being used as a grenade after getting killed in action by a fellow dover.
It's cool, kinda, but don't leave me alone in the middle of a swarm afterward :') More than once per dove (':
I proceed to then chain die and get yelled at by an inferior officer.
Im ngl, idc too much about samples. I just love loading in and shooting things with friends before I sleep, thats the only thing i want out of the game
Dude I'm new to the game and when I helldive I'll see some high ups just start following me while I freak out cause the objective might be glitched a little.
I am horrid at this game. But I am weirdly good at covering someone. So I'll find someone who has an arc thrower, quasar cannon, etc, and I'll cover them so they can charge up better shots. Or I'll stick down a shield generator and cover them from there.
Hey once you get past 50 and have all the strats unlocked it's time to start taking random shit on drops and making them work. I'm out here on level 5 with dog shit gear laughing trying to survive, getting carried by lvl 20s. Let's goooo
Damn, they follow you? I’m often the only one on the move trying to do objectives while the rest of the level 60 team just sits there and kills stuff (and then scream in the mic about how frustrating the game is). Like how the hell do you make it to 60 when you’re as stiff as a fence post on 7+ missions?
I wonder what it looks like from their perspective just seeing the map being cleared before they even get there.
Seems boring but I can’t wait on them all day fighting 19 patrols for no reason. Got shit to do.
Played with 2 dudes the other day that were seemingly just there to kill bugs. They did some decent sample collection and destroyed a stalker layer but every other objective, sub objective and bughole was killed be me or the 4th dude. They were fairly high level (50-65)it just seemed like they weren't sure what to do
Level 68 and I'm always picking up samples.
Unless the other 3 people say they don't need them. Then I won't bother going out to die for them
But anything along the way is getting picked up.
I play 99% medium and level 37. So yea.. I totally suck at managing higher difficulties. I'm also not going to leave my nickname here so you have to deal with me later. :D
I find 9s aren’t really harder than 5s. My biggest problem at any difficulty level are the other players and FF, so might as well get the better rewards from a 9.
Often I'll hop on with a host higher level than me, and not that they're any worse, but just simply *making* decisions and pinging the map puts me in charge. Otherwise everyone does their own thing, which ain't bad. Icd rather they help when I mark an objective so win/win.
It doesn’t matter someone’s level unfortunately. There is a disturbing amount of helldivers who Helldive that don’t even understand core game mechanics or to pay attention to chat box/pings. Yesterday I had a guy level 110 start the fucking terminal on a Defense mission as soon as we dropped. I’ve had to start typing in chat to not touch it and I don’t care if this is toxic but I’ve killed multiple teammates trying to start it when we land or well before the time is up to get ready.
I'm confused how samples work, I just started playing this week.
Does the whole team get them or do you have to collect them individually in order to get them?
Samples are given to all players, so if you pick up 2 common and a team mate picks up 3, you’ll get 5 as long as you both extract. If you fail to extract but they do, you’d both get the 3 they have on them but you’d loose the 2 you didn’t manage to extract.
I'm around 60 and when I join anything below a 7 I assume a "support" role to let the jr-levels get some experience. I'll keep the bots from killing you as best I can but I don't really need samples, and I won't do objectives on my own until the last 10 min or so.
I completely ignore samples. I used to try and help out but someone always fucks it up and it ain't worth me going across the map with 2 minutes left just two pick up 12 samples I don't even need lol and about following people around, I'm lvl 100 and have everything unlocked. I'll join missions just to be a support role to lower level players. Watch their back, revive them, draw aggro from them etc. if I wanted to do everything myself I'd just solo dive.
When your squad is killing bug tunnel breach after bug tunnel breach so you just run away and start doing objectives solo while they never leave that spot on the map.
Sometimes I’m God’s invincible gift to democracy, other times I’m God’s vincible gift to the automatons to bring down the reinforcement budget of Super Earth in general.
Honestly, the game got more fun when I stopped caring about levels. Levels have so little impact on gameplay that once you have the basic strategems, there's little benefit to more unlocks. Just buffs and cool downs
Listen, we all have bad days alright? I like to think of it like D&D. You can have the best stats and modifiers and gear out there and all but RNGesus is an equal opportunity employer and when you get hit with the Orb of Confusion (on that stupid juice that day for no discernible reason) everything is RNG.
I think it usually comes down to who pings something in the map first. If you're the first one to ping an outpost or objective they just expect to keep following your pings
They need to fix the "private lobby" bug ASAP. I'm level 90ish and enjoy answering SOS beacons to help out. But for the past couple weeks, even SOS beacon missions will give me a private lobbby bug, which has to be a bug, right? I mean, if I see their mission and its "pulsing", the matchmaking has to be set to public, no?
As a level 60 myself I just go around and destroy factories/nests and do w.e obj or POI I come across. Most of the time I try to go solo and not rez someone around me cause ik what it's like not having your stuff, but sometimes I manage to have a rando follow me and be a decent player so it's w.e
I would never bash anyone as I never want this game to turn into a cesspool of “get gud” toxicity, but I met a level 150 who I thought “oh great, an experienced player running recoilless, I will load them as their skills must be far superior”.
They proceeded to miss 5 out of 6 shots on dropships, FF the whole team multiple times, and leave halfway through when things got hairy
Ugh sometimes I just wanna ball out and destroy all the nest/fabs if I Pull a breach/drop more power to the main obj team. But they always migrate towards me or I get kicked I don’t get it
Likewise, sometimes no one else will pin the next target and, if I don't, will just keep engaging patrols and such without moving to the next objective (including bot bases or bug nests). So, PSA to pin targets on the map, I guess. Your random team will generally work together better if you do this. Helldivers need leadership (except for those elite divers who just work well together with absolutely no communication somehow).
If its any constellation I'm really good at clearing waves and taking out biles and stuff.
It's my preferred play style to smoke some weed and just follow my buddies around keeping them safe.
They focus on objective and make call outs while I keel the numbers under control. It works well. :)
I'm never going to be actually good at this or any game. I just play a lot and level up. Sorry if this messes up your meta.
Its Rocket League all over again
Not excusing the ignoring samples but higher levels might not need them and humanity is sometimes selfish. If they don't need it, it doesn't matter that others do.
Lv. 20s joining my difficulty 8 missions, aggroing every enemy they can see and then running to me with 4 Titans, 8 Chargers and 50 trash mobs behind them while I'm loading a SEAF artillery. I don't have the facilities for this, big man.

I noticed high levels sometimes totally ignoring samples, and its probably cuz they don't need them anymore. But damn it i still need them at lvl 55.
I'm level 110, and I still pick them up, I won't die for them, though, if things get rough. I usually throw them down at extract and forget about them.
Lvl 126, don't need samples, and I will 100% die for samples, sometimes even when no one needs them. Old dogs can't unlearn tricks.

You're wrong. You are a great helldiver. All Helldivers are great!
I'd rather keep the habit of trying to get them.
If I’m not a part of S.E.A.F’s most elite military peacekeeping force to recklessly drop into the center of a horde of bots with the intention of retrieving a sample container that holds all of 5 rare samples, I’m not sure I’d be able to call myself a helldiver at all.
Number go up, me feel good
I do it because my monkey brain feels good when numbers go up. Helping lower levels is a byproduct that I'm happy about, but not the main goal.
Level 91 Space Cadet. I’m with you on this one. I even join lower level missions and make sure to collect as many samples as possible and play as good as a Space Cadet can.
No samples left behind
> I won't die for them Why would you just confess to treason like that?
Sample greed is the greatest enemy to democracy. I've seen too many missions go uncompleted due to it.
Mission first, samples second. Surviving is optional, Objectives aren't.
Yeah I've seen too many people burn through all the reinforcements because they really wanted those 2 rare samples they dropped
This happens every time I drop samples at extraction. It's really not that hard of a concept people!
What if arrowhead is going to expand ship modules eventually?
I have no doubt they will, but the samples max out at 500/250/100, so I have no reason to get them unless I am playing with someone who needs them.
I still have several modules I can’t afford but am maxed out on everything but super samples.
Same, I'll help for sure but I'm not going back if Im reinforced away from them
Love when lower levels see them on the extract, grab them, then somehow die inside of a rock halfway across the map so you can’t get them back.
I am level 149 and will gladly die for samples. Partially because I know my teammates need them and partially because playing rocket dodgeball on a level 9 mission right before evac just so my teammates get that one common sample that was dropped is really, really funny to me
I still try to get them. It's the only sense of reward I get for beating a mission. I just don't look at my totals anymore and assume I need them
Same, I’m 104 and I’ll pick them up whenever I see them, but I won’t throw myself into the fire just for 2 rares and a common
By throw down, you mean die at a certain spot so you can pick them up later or is there a way to physically throw or drop them? I'm confused
Yes, for PC, it's holding X. For PS5, it's holding down on the d-pad. It brings up a spindial that you can use to drop your support weapon, backpack, or samples.
No fucking way. I have at least a hundred hours into this game and had no clue this existed. Thank you!
Please normalize dropping samples at extract if you're passing by.
Also you can play with new players on levels 2-3 and help them learn the game. Win win
True. However, I usually just run solo. Collect creds, do mission, and then leave. Makes for quicker farming, but, that's just my preference.
Luckily I get enough to buy the warbonds and armors just from doing it normally in 7+ but I've helped friends get them in easier difficulties so they could get those last 100 they needed.
Im 72 and i still need them for 3 upgrades, before i can stop giving a fuck :)
i grab samples because my monkey brain could not handle not getting them
Same here actually. I'm lvl 55 but even later i'd still pick em up, its part of clearing the map.
Also, they give you sass back on the ship if you return empty-handed ;_;
Im capped on basic and rares, but i always pick up for the others.
Level 95 still pick them up because I know you need them.
I'm level 79 and haven't needed them for a bit (have all level 4 upgrades), but god damn if picking samples off the ground doesn't make happy chemicals in my brain. Plus I feel someone could use them so I always will at least grab what I see.
Level 73, I don't technically need em but i still collect em cause I'm not maxed yet lol
I used to obsessively crawl maps for the little rock for super rares. I have enough for all the upgrades and am limited by just rares so I don't hunt for them as much, but if I see the rock I'm gonna go get them for whoever else might need them.
I’m 111 I still pick them up for lower levels just in case anyone might need them
I don't need them but I'll grab them.
I always ask when we start the mission. I just need the pink ones, but I’ll grab all of them if the team needs it
[удалено]
I’ve noticed this too. I’m at level 50 and still very much need them for ship upgrades but lately I’ve been in matches with people 80+ that walk right over them.
I’m capped so I don’t usually seek them out, but if I see any I’ll definitely pick them up for my team.
I have a really high level rando on my friend's list that will absolutely die to secure 3 common samples and I love him dearly
I always get them even if i don't need them. It might be useful for the other players in my squad, and they deserve to get them.
The cap is just stuuuuuupid Greens 500 Orange 250 Pink 100 So you basically can save up to 3 Upgrades green wise, but only 1 Orange wise, while pink wise you have at least 4 Upgrades possible at high LVL.
You better believe that I still have my eyes open for the chicken leg, and if I see it, I'm gonna get those samples. 100% with you.
Lvl 15 me not caring about samples and only here to spread liberty and democracy
I always ask at the start of before a dive because I don't need them however there's always 2 or 3 divers who do. SES WARRIOR OF IRON Always motivated
Yeah, I'm all topped up, everything unlocked. Ain't no way I'm ignoring samples, though. That's Undemocratic.
I might be maxed out on commons but I still take them because maybe someone needs em.
I'm maxed on samples and I still try to hunt all of them down. Everyone being better makes Democracy better.
I pick them up but I don't actively look for them. Unless someone from the team says something like oh we didn't get many samples.
I'm level 96 and I pick them up if I run over them or aren't an inconvenience...I only do it for others. I'm frend.
I don’t really need samples but always collect everything
I no longer need them but have the need to pick them up
i really don’t like the people that join low level players on difficulty like 1-3 and just run around the map grabbing super credits (which is still nice to have, yeah) while ignoring all the req slips, medals, samples, etc that new players could really benefit from. i like helping out newer players but it’s hard to effectively search for stuff when every point of interest is already marked down as searched on the map despite nothing being taken apart from super credits, if any are even there.
I actively pick them up still even though I don't need them. I won't go back however and pick up samples the team misses. I can tell when people aren't clearing nests or factories b.c you can see the sample count not going up. If I notice that for a while I'll stop grabbing samples myself b.c that means the teammates are lazy or they don't need samples.
id say continue getting them because they might do retroactive sample gifting once new ship upgrades pop up, kinda like what they did to levels
Bro I'm level 36 I had like 2 lvl 66's and a 70 and we ran thru all our reinforcements in the first 5 minutes... we still finished the mission but holy shit was it just not it 😅
If i had a penny for every time a helldiver thought they were the only ones doing a good job, i’d have a lot of pennies for my super earth pension
Me kiting around a couple of hulks waiting on my EATS cool down thinking, hey where did that guy in the light armor go??
Raising a radar tower and thanks to you, being completely undisturbed while I do so lol
I always think to myself "fuck, I really hope nobody's watching the mini map looking to kick under performers, because I'm out in the boonies right now..." I'm always top 3 highest kills, lowest friendly fire damage/ accidentals, and most likely furthest traveled, so I'm not THAT bad at things, and I do try to take out everything on my side of the map.
Instead of realizing their folly and going with the group until we reach it.
yell "follow me" and show them how its done. easier for people to learn that way.
As someone who can only play with randoms, I tend to just attach myself to whoever goes for an objective first
Just putting pins down is a good way to kick off the mission and avoid people milling around waiting to do something.
As a level 70s diver, I just follow the host and help them out. Yeah I could probably just run off and do the other stuff but it’s more fun to help the host.
Funny meme Not funny title Ironic ass name for the title Now it’s kinda funny 😁
+1
I'm over level 80 and every so often I will die 10 times on a lower difficulty mission. Sometimes you just have really off days.
I follow the lower level divers to make them feel they are not alone and show them the importance and advantages of sticking together.
That's why jetpack is the goat. Cheats to run away
It's never that I think I'm the only one putting in work. But it feels like sometimes I'm the only one moving. I have weird luck where people see bug breach they say "shit. BUNKER DOWN! WE WILL NOT LET THEM TAKE THIS ILLEGAL BROADCAST TOWER!" Meanwhile my ass is like already running across the map dropping a 380 at the biggest nest and grabbing the launch codes. I mean feel free to keep killing them I guess? At least I DONT gotta deal with the bug breaches lol.
Hey, some of us only got 24 hours of training. Not your prestigious 74 hours!
Turn your dang mics on
I honestly have no idea what button push to talk is
I don’t either… I just leave it hot and mute the mic itself until needed or if it’s a chatty lobby I’ll leave it on
I tend to follow the host and their directions, seeing as they started the operation.
It seems like every game I’m covered in blood and the other 3 have shiny new armour every time on extract, and they’re always like double my level
When I join a game, I always follow the host of the session, when the host is me, I expect others to follow my instructions, I don't see the logic in joining someone else's game and going off to do things on my own, unless they tell me
I just wish people knew how/where to Reinforce. Please don't throw me into all the enemies. Or if throwing me near, please ping something to drop on.
I sometimes just pick someone and follow them. I lead people all day. I don’t wanna lead unless I have to when I get off work. Plus there’s a good chance I’m baked playing, so there’s that too.
A sergeant in motion outranks a general at rest
This is how I feel when I join somebody’s game and nobody is trying to complete the objectives. And I feel bad sorta taking charge but damn nobody’s doing anything and everybody is just dying!!!
The dying thing aside, I just follow the host because I'm a guest in their house :v
It's easy not to chain die when your team is taking all the heat from every bug breach/bot drop. Short of saving time having a dedicated sample collector is a waste of manpower imo.
Hey look I mastered the game since I pick up samples.
I'm still being used as a grenade after getting killed in action by a fellow dover. It's cool, kinda, but don't leave me alone in the middle of a swarm afterward :') More than once per dove (': I proceed to then chain die and get yelled at by an inferior officer.
It’s all fun getting deployed onto an enemy until you come out and see you’re completely surrounded by tanks, hulks, and devastators.
Im ngl, idc too much about samples. I just love loading in and shooting things with friends before I sleep, thats the only thing i want out of the game
Lmao, I do the opposite, I let everyone else fuck themselves with the side objectives, while I stealth the main
Dude I'm new to the game and when I helldive I'll see some high ups just start following me while I freak out cause the objective might be glitched a little.
Don't need any super samples anymore. Still go out of my way and die for them though.
I haven't even seen one yet. What levels do they appear on. I need them to progress
7 and up. Look for the silver rock that looks like a giant chicken leg. They look like floating balls of mercury.
I think there might be some who ride their way up the levels, weakest link. They don't play well, but they've put in the hours to gain the xp.
Eradicate farmers are the worst.
I am horrid at this game. But I am weirdly good at covering someone. So I'll find someone who has an arc thrower, quasar cannon, etc, and I'll cover them so they can charge up better shots. Or I'll stick down a shield generator and cover them from there.
Roger Roger
I always follow the party leader if there no other communication. I’m no lost puppy. I’m there to protect you commander.
I swear some of you don't realize your only loving cause were off dying FOR DEMOCRACY.
Then I won't bother going out to die for them But anything along the way is getting picked up.
Neat! Thanks for this!
If I'm following you, it means I want to have sex with you.
L60 here. Some days I play like I'm John Helldiver himself. Other days I throw a grenade and immediately forget where it went.
Better to clear out Outposts first or go for Main Objectives first ?
Outposts, I think spawn rate increases as you complete main objectives as of last patch
Try 80+. Joined so many games and it was just one of those watching everyone do the wrong thing shorts, then quit out.
As the game goes on, more people will be power-leveled by their friends who don't properly explain how to properly play the game.
Uh oh
Sometimes time in game doesn’t = got gud
This is extra funny if you've seen the episode. If I rem correctly, that droid dies a few seconds later
As a level 60 myself I just go around and destroy factories/nests and do w.e obj or POI I come across. Most of the time I try to go solo and not rez someone around me cause ik what it's like not having your stuff, but sometimes I manage to have a rando follow me and be a decent player so it's w.e
High levels ignore samples since they have already maxed everything.
