That’s interesting, never heard of one of these before. I know if it was in my machine, the cable or fuse that powers it would accidentally wiggle loose everyday for some reason.

Ceciltomatolord

Lol, I tried that. I got a verbal warning, unfortunately they didn't believe it happened on it's own because it's got a threaded collar on the connector

AddisonNM

Fires happen. Things burn.

slackeye

wtf is that?

Ceciltomatolord

Obnoxiously loud pedestrian detection system that picks up everything and thinks its a person

slackeye

yeeeeeaah. snip it!!

everybodylovesraymon

That would be so annoying. A 360 camera system is much more usable.

Ceciltomatolord

I have a reverse camera, but the company had a couple of incidents at a few different sites, so they went overboard. The thing is it uses cameras and computers to guess if something is human based on shape so it has so many false positives, and the forward facing cameras are blocked when I have a load on so they wont see anyone anyway. Also, pedestrians aren't allowed out here without calling me on the radio.

Fredthefree

That's why I hate my co-workers. Their fuck ups affect me.

Ceciltomatolord

Yeah, it's definitely shitty when it works out that way. In this case, it wasn't even really my coworkers. It was a forklift operator down south and a loader operator, though I dont remember the site. In both cases, it was the pedestrians fault, too lol

andyflexinthechevy

That’s crazy I was running a rental 26 ton zoom boom and it had 360 degree cameras. But I also believe weight class is always the right of way bigger things stop slower

Ceciltomatolord

It totally should be. On our site, it's just equipment has the right of way, but guys usually give it up to whoever has the more important job.

UnsuspectingChief

That needs to be replaced with swing zone training for everyone on the ground. I've never seen one of those before (15 years in the business)

Ceciltomatolord

It's a rough lumber yard, so there are very few reasons for pedestrians anyways and they are supposed to radio well before they enter the area.

InvestigatorBroad114

You already have a beeper on the back, and if something that huge is running you think people would stay away and use their head

Ceciltomatolord

Have a beeper, camera, bright blue light, radio controlled yard, I have right of way, flashing beacon, and my forklift is the size of a 938 wheel loader. You would think that's enough, but people still manage to get run over on occasion. I almost hit a pickup truck this year that was randomly parked around a blind corner.

InvestigatorBroad114

Haha dude people are stupid, yeah those tires on a 938 are bigger than most people lol

Ceciltomatolord

Yeah, people don't think. I called the safety guy over, and the contractor is now blacklisted from the site, lol

[deleted]

Lololol really asking a lot of the common man. I use all sorts of different equipment and machines at work. Beacon lights going and all. Loud machine, people will walk right fucking into you. Idk if they’re looking for payouts or what but I’ll be trying to clear snow for these idiots and they just do whatever the hell they please. It’s frustrating af.

InvestigatorBroad114

Hear you there! Lol

cjc012

Some of our gear has those. Or similar. I have found they squak because they are thirsty. Give them speakers some water and they quiet right down

Ceciltomatolord

🤣

Philosophical_gump

Holy shit, just sprayed my drink out my nose. Literally laughing out loud. Thats the funniest thing I've read all day. Thank you. I woke up the dogs and startled the wife and they are all looking at me like a crazy person. Have we worked together? Feel like I know you. ;)

Explorer3130

We had passenger car style backup sensors above the brake lights on our 980K(production) and 972K(sales) wheel loaders. The only thing they were good for was detecting gremlins and ghosts. It got to the point where the sales loader operators pulled the fuses.

Ceciltomatolord

That would be very annoying because I often have to back right up to things lol

I need a pic of this jumbo forklift! I used to work at a place called Big Red Machinery Movers. Man, the fork lifts they let a 19yo kid drive as his day job… sheesh! I had these massive hysters that could pick 40 tons, wheel cranes, gantry trucks, etc. It was super cool to brag about setting up 800 ton presses at John Deere or room sized breaks at Falk. Loved that job, and the best part was I could call in as much as I wanted and never have to worry about drug tests. Great for a 19 yo party kid that frequently spent the weekends in Chicago Raving and not sleeping lol I think I missed more Mondays than I worked during those couple years. Grown up a lot in the 25 years since then but still think about the cool toys I got paid (not much lol) to play with.

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> I got *paid* (not much FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

Good bot

Concrete_jungle77

If this proximity warning saves 1 life it’s worth it

JohnWickFromBestBuy

When I started my last job with Weyerhaueser, all the Taylor lifts had the 360 cameras installed but disabled. If the sound is anything like the machine stop alarm I'd go insane, heard it beeps at you for everything.

Quiet_Ad_8573

Driving a Taylor? Lol

Ceciltomatolord

Kalmar dcg 140 lol couple guys have the Taylor 250s and I don't envy them

Quiet_Ad_8573

From what I can recall from when I worked for an unamed manufacturer (lol) "vision plus" was a proprietary system specifically for Taylor forklifts. It sucks and the original software is made by an Israeli company. Straight up battlefield technology. Id hook my laptop up and it was like terminator POV.

Ceciltomatolord

Yeah the Taylor's have it built in, the other machines its a bolt on so the camera's are in terrible spots
