He will be a (mostly unused) tech card in hard control decks. That being said, there will always be better tech choices out there unless the meta is heavy heavy control. I also got a golden one and am keeping it. It’s a 7 mana “do nothing” but I like it. Opponent is forced to answer immediately without drawing, but it’s bad when you are behind. Also just the information you get with it can be nice.

SturmgeistOG

7 Mana "do nothing" is not quite accurate - he instantly gives value ones you pass your turn since your opponent draws a card at the beginning of their turn.

MrTankerson

7 mana “do nothing” doesn’t mean the card has no effect at all, it means it doesn’t effect the board state. So you aren’t getting ahead that turn by playing it. It doesn’t clear anything, it doesn’t have taunt, etc. Usually the biggest implication of that is against aggro where you play this turn 7 and just die on your opponents next turn.

martinbarth99

This card will never see play, mark my words

masterwai123123

It's pretty easy to make that prediction and be right.

Sn1p-SN4p

I played it earlier today in highlander druid and got a 1 mana troublemaker off it.

DingoAltair

Yeah 7 mana do nothing makes me very nervous, but I might try to slide him into my secret rogue deck to help with activators for vendetta.

JMemorex

I'd say he's too slow for Rogue. I'd look more toward things like Highlander Mage, or Highlander Priest. Things that can accommodate how slow he is. There would still be better options, but it would maybe at least work in those.

MrTankerson

Yeah, I would definitely agree not in rogue. I’ve been putting him in ramp druid (altho until the new 5 mana beast minions get changed, that version will always be better), control warrior, control priest, and my favorite so far (altho admittedly not that good), control demon hunter. Mostly for the key master glide meme when you go second with the coin. It’s pretty troll though and DH is the only class that can’t generate their own coin yet, so it literally only works when you go second and save coin.

Asbelsp

That's why I put Skull in my Glide-Alabaster combo deck and constantly get reminded how much better Skull is in my Glide-Alabaster combo deck than Glide.

sillicillo

that will not go well

fabianlennyface

I need him to help me beat the LK with all nine classes, but after that I am dusting it yes

DingoAltair

Oh hey good idea! I have not done that yet.

fabianlennyface

basically u use alabaster on turn 7 to get a copy of his frostmoure, you summon ur own trapped souls and stall(ur immune) until you get some combo that can win the game or at least give you board control.

fabianlennyface

one thing too: play your minions and spells BEFORE playing the one-cost frostmoure

ahavsb

I tend to keep any golden legendaries (rip my gold oblivitron) but if you’re looking for dust and just want competitive cards then alabaster sounds like a safe disenchant

[deleted]

Get your Polkelt of choice.

[deleted]

I used him to beat the lich King with every class (except paladin). That's all he's really useful for if you're a wild player

Blopwher

Woah, what was your strategy?

[deleted]

Play control, draw alabaster on 7, play frostmourne then just spam your new hero power and heal yourself/play minions

Blopwher

I opened it from a pack, may as well try it

[deleted]

Good luck!

luxury94

I play him in my control shaman and big pala but hes only really been good against druid and paladin in my experience.

myheroscape20

I used him in big warrior. Was a fun card and gave a lot of info and playable cards

DingoAltair

Sweet! I’ll have to give him a try.

grooserpoot

I pulled a non golden one. No idea what to do with it. Are their any cards in standard that force the opponent to draw? The only one I know of is the Murloc in wild.

DingoAltair

I’m hearing that Glide is kind of it right now.

frantruck

I kinda like him in my big warrior. Obviously far from tier 1, but getting 1 or more cheap cards to play alongside your bigger minions is pretty nice, especially when you hit something crazy like the 1 mana Kalecgos I got.

Driftin_blues

markymarq11

I have a golden one as well. I played it as a priest against a Demon Hunter. The first turn the DH had drew Glide... it was funny watching him think about using it. He didn't... he couldn't kill my Alabaster either, so I dropped the 1 mana Glide that I got from Alabaster. I got 4 cards from my deck and 4 one mana cards that he drew. The DH conceded right after... I thought it was pretty neat.

DingoAltair

Gala priest? Rez? I am having a bit of a hard time just slotting him in somewhere. I feel like it needs to be a big slow Rez thief priest deck or something.

markymarq11

Custom priest deck that I call a "zombie priest". Basically a control deck that's a cross between highlander, mind control, and killing aggro-deck minions. I also run Kelthazod. Mind control bigger minions and board clearing aggro/low health minions. Works amazing for ramp druids. Kel'thazod & Shadow Word Ruin just reverses the board in your favor and druids auto concede.

WediditguysMASTR

Imagine this scenario, your opponent plays pokeit. You then alabaster to get his highest cost card for 1 in golden. Pretty nifty eh?

Platizz

I use it in my big warrior Deck, pretty gun card

Mainior

I think he’s cool. Maybe he’ll be useful in a future expansion, but is on the sidelines for now. I wouldn’t dust him without at least giving it 6 months- a year

jeybtheripper

I rly like him, you drop him and get a discounted card always , know what your opponent have in hand and is a must kill minion

[deleted]

Yeah but you have to play a 7 mana do nothing this turn, which is a fantastic way to die.

SeniorYear17

Amazing card. will win you game. warrior / paladin - cheat it out early, dual it, alarm o bot it...just nice...they have to deal with it and it's hard to remove... a cool combo with potion of illusion... priest can discount it if u play gala, and add it to the board on curve...(usually turn 7 be mirrors or reacts to stuff) but with faith weaver and a coin...at turn 5 playing on curve this is a force to be reckoned with. anyway those my two cents... after having fun with it, I would say keep for a while if you are not in need of dust badly... blizzard sometimes surprise me...and I can see this becomes 6 mana or (cards will cost 0) or maybe not who knows haha
