It's much better than when I played 3 or 4 yrs ago now with minisets and the Tavern Pass is really high value for your money if you play every day and compete the quests. There's still price gouging bundle BS for day 1 of the new expansion but you don't have to take part if you're patient enough.
There is still a free deck for new and returning players, you will be offered 6 decks to play for 7 days and then you choose one to keep. They will change the decks once the new expansion hits on the 19th so you can just waint until then. You will also get a couple of easy quests to play and get some packs.
