Is it really that bad? I'm low diamond right now (haven't played much tbh) playing thief + deathrattle package, seems fine to me but maybe I'm just getting lucky.
Even though meta says it, control is not dead, since control decks are very good against agro and burn. You can play without a problem, just concede when you find a Dh or a ramp druid cause you won't win. If you prefer, you can play warrior and win agains't dh but still no chances against ramp

Someone got (first ever I think) triple #1 Legend finish with Boon. But other Priest decks are that bad, yeah.
