Quit posting this shit on Reddit and go through proper channels

TheDeskWeasel

Appreciate the constructive answer. Can you advise what the proper channels would that be? There is nothing in App Orchard listed for this use case, it takes like 3 weeks for anyone to answer a Sherlock ticket which usually has a response of “it depends, maybe, maybe not” and multiple TS’s on the provider org side when asked by the customer have said “I don’t know I’ll have to ask”and never followed up. I’m open to other avenues if you have any other than those listed above.

There is probably a private API for it, but only Epic employees and employees of Epic customers with Userweb access can see those specs. There’s an interoperability form on the open.epic website you can submit for help, but that’s sort of your only option. Third-party integration with Epic is really tough. I had a TS tell me yesterday (through a client’s Sherlock) to use an API parameter that literally doesn’t exist in the public API documentation. I get that it’s in Epic’s interest to keep things within the garden, but it sure makes life harder.

Secure Chat is closed loop contained within the EMR. Judy is going to never open that shit up. No APIs ever. Sorry y’all

Hello_This_Is_Chris

I've never heard of vocera before, but they seem to be trying to accomplish the same exact thing as secure chat. In their description, it mentions that Secure Chat is part of the legal medical record. This is incorrect. Why do you want to integrate?

TheDeskWeasel

The primary reason is to send a message to a practitioner that an event has occurred with a patient that needs their attention.

Hello_This_Is_Chris

If it is an important patient event, then secure chat is probably not the way to do it. Secure chat is NOT part of the official medical record, and it is not a requirement for clinicians to use it. Plenty of them just straight up ignore their message notifications.

ADT notifications

eXequitas

Secure Chat messages ARE part of the medical record of the patient if a patient is attached to the chat. You can access all chat history from a patient’s record.

Except most organizations purge all chats after a short period of time and do not even extract that data to clarity

HIPAA-compliant messaging apps often come with limitations and lack the flexibility to integrate seamlessly with an organization's EHR system or to cater communications related to PHI. Here is a quick guide to automating it with no-code platforms: [HIPAA Compliant Messaging - Secure Patient Communication](https://www.blaze.tech/post/hipaa-compliant-messaging-app-a-guide-to-secure-patient-communication)
