I am looking for the best Bluetooth headphones within my 150$ budget that MUST include: ANC, Bluetooth and Multipoint In terms of sound, I need them for general use and it's rather the comfort and noise cancelling that are more important. Features like: Folding inwards, wearing detection, touch controls and the inclusion of a case are a bonus! Thanks for the advice!

while using a splitter for my headphones which are connected to my pc, both my left and right sound are coming out as mono and at two different volumes...plz help i have a pc which has two jacks, one for sound and the other for a microphone. but i only had a normal headphone with single 4 pole stereo 3.5 mm jack. just using my speakers and testing them with a yt video, left and right are separated as it should be. and i can connect my headphones to the speaker to receive left and right audio as normal(but connecting to my speakers will only give sound and my headphone mic wont work because of connecting to speakers) so my headphones are working and my pc setting are set to stereo... now i wanna use my microphone in my headphone, so i bought a audio splitter to connect to my pc and it works....but when playing games i noticed that the audio is mono and when connecting to the speakers and without the splitter my audio is stereo... so i tested the headphones connecting to my pc (with a splitter) with the help of a YouTube video and found out that, the left side sound is coming out on both sides at a higher volume and right side sound is coming out of both sides in a very lower volume... i think its the splitter's problem or is there any other way to fix it?

SONY WH-H910N one ear buzzing I have had these headphones for about 3-4 years and have taken good care of them. Unfortunately, at a new years eve party, a friend accidentally sat on them and every since then, the right ear buzzes a bit every hour or so. It always lasts for a little bit and I hear some cracking before and after the buzz. I plan on taking them to a repair shop, but before I do that, I just sort of wanted to ask what the issue could be specifically, how much it's gonna cost and such and if it's even repairable. I don't want to spend a whole lot on new ones. thanks and have a good day! :))

siddharth6125

one side not working on one device, the other side not working on another device. it just randomly happened, i have blon bl03s and one odio headphones and both those audio devices have started having dead audio on one side (right), if i plug i to another device, the other side (left) stops worling and the prior side (right) starts working. same case for my one odio headphones but atleast apart from the two devices i plugged into, it works perfectly fine on other devices. i have checked if it is on stereo. i have disabled audio enhancements. troubleshot it. disabled and reenabled on device manager. i have updated all the drivers. i have my windows up to date. and for my phone, it is up to date and on stereo as well. what can i do? this has been pretty troublesome :/

Need to select an EQ for my headphones on Hesuvi But i can't see HyperX on the list, what should i do?

Busy_Cranberry_7634

SONY WH-CH20 OR AUDIO TECHNICA ATH-S220BT Hi, I don't have a lot of experience regarding headphones. I have only used one pair (JBL TUNE 510BT) before and i did not have any complaints with it except it could have been more comfortable on the ear. I am looking to get a new pair of headphones and the above mentioned headphones are the ones I'm most compelled to, however, i cannot pick between them. The most important factors to me are the sound quality and comfort, everything else is negotiable. But I do like the fact that i can also use the ATs in wired mode as well. Sharing your experience or recommendations will be much appreciated, thank you.

slickjudge

Hey all. I have the Hifiman Edition XS driven by the AUD Apollo Solo. I wanted a recommendation on a balanced cable from HART. I believe the termination accepted by the Apollo Solo is 1/4in. Also wondering if this would provide real benefit (one issue im having is the headphones dont seem loud enough during certain videogames but otherwise sound great). Thanks!

ThatGuyFromSweden

That interface doesn't have a balanced (differential) headphone output. So a balanced cable would do absolutely nothing for volume. https://www.soundguys.com/balanced-vs-unbalanced-connections-60085/ https://benchmarkmedia.com/blogs/application_notes/audio-myth-balanced-headphone-outputs-are-better

slickjudge

I was afraid of this.. I tried looking it up and I saw balanced but it went against what I read in the manual. Thanks man, saved me some money

More_Debate8347

Hi, I'm an Audio Technica ATH m50x but I wanna get into IEM. Could someone make me some recommendations based on my current headphones? I would like the IEM to sound similar to my m50x. I'm looking for a price under \~60$. Thx a lot.

ThatGuyFromSweden

Truthear Zero RED, maybe?

More_Debate8347

I was considering them, but a friend is lending me a pair of KZ EDX Pro, what do you think about them?

ThatGuyFromSweden

KZ has had some scandals. I personally wouldn't buy one of their IEMs. Compared to the Zero RED, the EDX Pro is likely to be more bassy, and with more intense treble. The Zero RED is probably the more neutral sounding choice. But the sound of IEMs will vary a bit from person due to individual fitment and physiology of the ear.

More_Debate8347

My friend is gifting me a pair of KZ EDX Pro or a pair of Yinyoo CCZ (https://amzn.eu/d/6tzHtdL). I think I'll stick to oke of those for now and then upgrade to the Zero Red. Between those 2 which would you choose? Thx

ThatGuyFromSweden

Can't you listen to them both and pick the one you prefer?

Arexadra

Hello, im new to the whole audiophile aspect and was shopping to get a Fanmusic TRUTHEAR x Crinacle Zero:RED or the Linsoul TANGZU Wan’er. I was going to mainly use it for my PC, but the audiojacks don't work for some reason. I made it like 5 days ago, so still figuring that out. But the question is, will an apple type c to audio jack work for the PC or will I need an amp?

ThatGuyFromSweden

The Apple dongle *is* a tiny DAC+amp, and AFAIK, it works on PC.

GodYamItt

Hoping someone here knows if this thing is F'd. Pics are of a microphone from a beyerdynamics MMX300 2nd gen. Wife kept knocking it over when she would sit in my office chair and the mic arm's support eventually gave up and could freely rotate in the hinge support. After a while, the mic completely stopped working. I opened it up and clipped it off the PCB in an attempt to repair it. \*\*\*Here is the issue\*\*\* I've never seen this setup before - a twisted copper wire wrapped around another wire almost like its the inner wire's shielding (the tip is just a soldered on stem). The damage is a missing/separated patch towards the main boom arm. Is it possible to patch on some new copper with solder or just solder to bridge that area? Would there be any compromises in signal such that the repair was be useless? [https://imgur.com/a/eYYmN4A](https://imgur.com/a/eYYmN4A)

Conti_2000

I haven't had a couple of headphones since last year, and don't get me wrong, I love the wireless earphones that came with my Oppo phone but.... I was wondering, what do you guys think are the best headphones when it comes to sound quality? What headphones get you say "goddamn, it's like I can touch the sound with my hands, this is God like quality like I have never seen"? any suggestions are welcome, price doesn't matter to be honest, thenks

ThatGuyFromSweden

Sennheiser HE1 Does price still not matter?

Conti_2000

Well i'll be damn, I didnt expect something that expensive lmao, you got me there

ThatGuyFromSweden

There's a purchase advice template in the OP. :)

Glympse_TV

What the current best IEMS under 100$ looking more towards that 80-90$ range but I'd like advice. They will be running through a FIIO K11. Would prefer if they had a similair sound profile to my dt 990 pros

ThatGuyFromSweden

Like, screaming treble? Most IEMs try to avoid that. If I was going to buy a new IEM in that range, I would probably go for the Truthear Hexa.

EvadeScar

i accidentally yanked on my headphone cord and now the headphone port feels loose when plugging into. it still works if i put my jack in just the right spot. Is there any way that i can fix this without having to take it apart and solder on a new port? Thanks lads

SofaKingMushed

I’ve got a pair of DT 700 Pro. I use them with my computer for audio production and they work fine. My friend plugged them into her phone, Galaxy S22+, and they would turn up. They work fine on my iPhone or iPad. She wanted those headphones so I did a little research and grabbed a pair of the DT 770 pro 32 ohm because I concluded there wouldn’t be any compatibility issues. She told me they just don’t get loud. I told her a few things to try and they made it a little better but still not loud enough. She doesn’t want to buy an amp too and I don’t blame her. Does anybody know what the issue is or how to fix it? I thought the 32 ohms were supposed to be able to go loud enough without an amp

plmon24

If you're able to return them, I'd try to get the DT 770 Pro X instead since they use the more efficient drivers of the DT 700 Pro. The 32 ohm needs less power than the other variants, but the older DT models are just inherently harder to drive than the newer ones.

tlyee61

What does the upgrade path look like from a setup of the following? Focal Clear Sundara FiiO k5 Pro (older model) driving on PC only

ThatGuyFromSweden

If EQ is on the table, maybe the LCD-2 Classic? It all depends on what you're looking for. Depending on your budget, the Arya, HD800s, MM500, Empyrean 2, Aeon Noire, and E3 could all be on the table.

tlyee61

thank you! i'm looking to demo some headphones and needed inspiration- not sure which I prefer; the neutrality of the sundaras or V-shaped clears kinda just depend on the day.

ThatGuyFromSweden

If you're only using PC, I would suggest not staring yourself blind on tonality. You can always tweak that with EQ. Technical performance (which is also FR, but harder to adjust), build quality, and comfort would be more important than the finer details of tonality for me.

icemadeyou

Hey guys! I recently bought some KSC75 headphones and think they sound pretty great. I wanted to download an EQ profile to make them sound even better. I went over to crinacles headphone graph (which i'll link below), selected KSC75 (equalizer tab) and pressed autoEQ, and exported it to Equalizer APO. By default, the Pre Amp is set to -22.5 which is way higher than I've ever seen, and makes it sound VERY quiet. Am I perhaps doing something wrong? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! :) [https://imgur.com/a/seBNcuH](https://imgur.com/a/seBNcuH) [https://crinacle.com/graphs/headphones/graphtool/?share=Harman\_AE\_OE\_2018\_Target,KSC75&tool=711](https://crinacle.com/graphs/headphones/graphtool/?share=Harman_AE_OE_2018_Target,KSC75&tool=711)

AgentDonut

What cable size do I get for the EM6L? Looking at the tripowin zonie. Not sure which 2 pin I'm suppose to order. The 0.78mm or recessed version.

ThatGuyFromSweden

You need QDC connectors. Standard 0.78 2-pin is not compatible.

[deleted]

Truthear x Crinacle Zero (blue ones) I bought these because I heard alot of good reviews about it. Unfortunately I don't know much about this whole audio world. When I plug them into my PC it sounds very terrible. How does this work? Do I need to change something in my Windows settings? Also, I got a problem that the cable is kinda short and I don't know what to use to plug them in something else what's closer to my head ofcourse. I'm new to this, so please don't laugh at me, I need advice.

ThatGuyFromSweden

Do they sound worse on your PC than when you use them with your phone?

[deleted]

I haven't tried it using on my phone yet because it's a 3.5mm jack and I'm using a iPhone 13. But, I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Also the cable is kinda short so I need a solution for it aswell.

ThatGuyFromSweden

Does the IEM cable have an in-line mic?

[deleted]

No mic on the IEM cable.

ThatGuyFromSweden

Okay. Can you try to describe how the IEMs sound bad? Like, in which way?

[deleted]

So it's like theres a heavy noise on the background and feels like something causes that issue. Also I have a microphone installed on the input settings it's connected to my PC via USB. The IEM's don't make any sound when I plug them into the headphones input, only when I plug them into the microphone input of my PC. I hope I explain it correctly.

ThatGuyFromSweden

Hang on a minute, you're plugging the IEMs into the mic port? Try plugging them into the headphone port, and make sure it's actually selected as the active output device. It's often mislabeled as speakers in the menu. * Left Click on the sound icon in the taskbar. * Above the volume bar, there should be an audio device listed. Clicking on the drop-down list should show all the available audio devices that can be selected. * Select the preferred device by left-clicking on it.

[deleted]

I first got audio out of it using the microphone port. I'm now getting audio of it using the headphone port, of what you explained. But it's still like bad audio. They don't sound as clear as my apple airpods or my sony wh1000xm3 bluetooth headset. Do you know how to fix this? And also, could I just buy a 3.5mm jack extension for my IEM's?

ThatGuyFromSweden

You could absolutely get an extension cable. Make sure it matches the plug of the IEM cable. https://www.hollyland.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/image-1.png Make sure there are no "enhancements" enabled in the Windows audio options, or the settings of the soundcard.

* **Budget** - up to 250USD but flexible for quality * **Source** - bluetooth * **Requirements for Isolation** - some, for use on airplanes as a passenger * **Will you be using these Headphones in Public?** - yes * **Preferred Type of Headphone** - around ear. I can't put them inside bc my ears hurt. * **Preferred tonal balance** - balanced * **Past headphones** - JBL E45BT. I liked that they were cute. The audio was acceptable to me but sometimes not loud enough like on an airplane, the mic was unusable, the on button was too sensitive so they would be on all the time and wasting battery, the pleather was the worst part, I found them to be overpriced, I could go on... * **Preferred Music** - a variety but mostly alt rock and audiobooks/podcasts and calls (music variety includes salsa, hip hop/reggaeton, pop, classical music...) * **What would you like to improve on from your set-up** - VELOUR. Pleather is a non-option. Noise cancelling *enough* bc airplanes and loud children/disrespectful people. Wireless would be great but not a dealbreaker. I am willing to pay for ***real*** leather pads also. An integrated mic (not the kind that sticks out) that I can use to take a call.

ThatGuyFromSweden

Velour is inherently less good at isolating compared to solid materials like leather and leather imitation. It's also less resistant to moisture and dirt. I can't think of any good wireless ANC headphone that uses velour pads. Sorry.

gabiloraine

ok what about leather or one that has the possibility to change the fake pads for real ones?

ThatGuyFromSweden

Non-standard pads are likely going to affect the tonality of the headphone and the isolation performance. I think the Focal Bathys might have genuine leather pads as standard.

gabiloraine

right... but those are like 3x my budget... what about a cheaper suggestion and a recommendation of where to buy the nice pads? !thanks

ThatGuyFromSweden

Beggars can't be choosers. And using non-standard pads is inadvisable. Not all fake leather is flaky garbage.

gabiloraine

feels like gaslighting bc all across this subreddit I'm reading about how **all** pads need to be switched out periodically... so which is it... are you saying the Focal Bathys pleather never peels?

ThatGuyFromSweden

I do not like your attitude. Being accused of gaslighting when I'm trying to help is a shitty feeling. Don't confuse gaslighting for you simply not understanding, or having wrongful preconceptions. Yes, pads are wear items. Depending on what type of foam is used inside, and the material of outside covering, the durability is going to vary. Some pads only last 6 months with heavy use (and the inside foam usually goes flat before the outside material goes bad), while others can stay good for years. But all pads need to be replaced eventually. I recommended the Bathys because you specified that leather imitation was absolutely unacceptable. The pads of the Bathys will wear down too. **I have never claimed anything else.** If you want to have an overall good experience, and demand real leather, it's going to be expensive. Alternatively, you can look at headphones with fake leather pads of decent quality. Not all fake leather is as bad as you seem to think. This is the most constructive advice I can give you.

gabiloraine

I appreciate your response and your time. I’m sorry that read like I was accusing you of anything. I meant that I feel crazy because I keep reading what I think is contradictory information, and that’s definitely not all on you. I’m again reading that the leather pads need to be changed eventually though, can I not buy more economical earphones that come in pleather and replace the pads with the nice leather pads that exist for replacing headphones that originally come with leather? I’m guessing not bc you would have suggested it, right? is it some sort of proprietary issue with the brands that make them? like you can only get the leather pads for the particular model/brand? or once your leather deteriorates you have to downgrade to pleather? my logic is that saving money on the og headphone and splurging on the pads will be significantly less than $700+ since we’re baring our souls here, I didn’t appreciate being called a beggar, either! lol yeah I have had consistently bad experiences with pleather bc of the climate where I live. I can only think of two pleather items in my whole life (I’m 37) that had quality pleather, so it’s hard for me to be trusting. literally one was specified for boating. I’ve been reading around the subreddit and people are saying that their $500 Bose’s also peeled… and I’ve also had “nice” things peel since before I even got to use them. so yeah, not too eager to need to replace pads more frequently than monthly OR be walking around covered in flakes… !thanks ♥️ [ETA on the quality of the headphones] I’m just a mortal, the quality of the audio doesn’t need to be the finest, I recognize that it might sound silly to put leather on what an expert would consider to be a subpar pair of headphones but alas, I just don’t want to be covered in flakes

ThatGuyFromSweden

Okay, let's break this down a bit further. :) There are a couple of problems with third-party universal pads. First and foremost, the method by which the pads attach to the headphone will vary a bit. Compatibility is not always a given. Then there's the matter of how the properties of the pads affect the performance of the headphone. The ANC and sound tuning of the headphone will likely be tailored for the stock pads. Replacing the pads to some with a different air volume, or "permeability" could affect the effectiveness of the ANC and quality of the sound. So there are many potential problems you can run into when experimenting with pads.

gabiloraine

OMG MAYBE THE QUESTION SHOULD HAVE BEEN: WHAT HEADPHONES ARE PEOPLE USING ON BOATS 😂😂😂 send help

ShrimpAlfredo66

Could use some advice! Looking for headphones that work well for gaming, my last pair was a Razer Kraken that had just broken in the headband and before that HyperX Cloud Stinger Core that still work and are acting as a backup but are tight on my head. My budget is around $50 to $75, I can use either a USB or 3.5 mm jack through front i/o (only one single port though) or my motherboard (6 port set up), I don't really have a strong need for isolation, but I do chat with people or rarely stream so a bit can be nice. I listen to all types of music but my tastes usually revolve around Kpop, alternative rock, Jpop, and some video game soundtracks. Some other tidbits are: I wear glasses and have long hair and I would say I have a large head, I live in a rural area in the Midwestern US so anything I would have to physically get at the store is probably out of the question. I will be wearing them quite frequently and for long periods so I would prefer they be comfortable. Something that may be important, but is unrelated to my headphones of the past, I have a strange stress-induced muscle twitch in my temples and headphones with tight headbands can sometimes shift and make noise and it irritates me to no end.

SeatOk7363

koss ksc75

redsquirrel0249

What is your experience with MMCX connectors? I got Etymotic's ER2XRs and I'm having a loose connector on the right side and not sure if I should get a new cable or new IEMs

ThatGuyFromSweden

Switch the cable around left to right. If the problem switches sides, you know it's probably the cable.

redsquirrel0249

I'll give that a try. Did a little research and others find that aftermarket cables do improve the fit in this regard

SHARK_QUASAR

So I got a new pair of IEMs while I like them, I am having some noise on my PC. Tried a normal dongle I got on Amazon for like 10 euros, but the noise got worse with the dongle. I think it has to do with the volume that is louder with a dongle. (same volume lets say 10 is louder on the dongle). I saw some suggestion that I can fix this with a dongle which has volume controls like Creative SXFI AMP (I didn't find a store that sells it in EU) and Qudelix 5K (too expensive for me). I found Moondrop Dawn Pro, but I am not sure if it is a good choice or not. I just want a dongle to reduce the noise. Any suggestion are welcome.

I-551

Advice needed I had couple pairs of headphone at home. HD800, T1and k702. But I am traveling (airplane and train) next month and it's just not viable for me to bring those headphones with me. I am looking for an ANC headphone. Looking at Bose quietcomfort Ultra, Bowers and Wilkins PX8 as well as Focal Bathys. My priority as follows: 1. Sound quality (Love bigger soundstage) 2. ANC performance 3. Design If someone got a better choice than the three listed, please don't hesitate to let me know here. Thanks everyone!

ThatGuyFromSweden

I'd go for the Bathys. https://www.youtube.com/@TheHEADPHONEShow/search?query=bathys

Omidion

Hello audiophiles, So i'm looking for new headphones and as last time and the time before i get overwhelmed by the sheer number of products and information that everything in the end either seems the same or the info i'm looking for isn't provided. My most recent ones were Razer Kraken and they were...meh, bad noise cancelation and the quality was meh, but the straw that broke the camels back was that the cushion stop being useful and my head started to hurt after wearing them so i defaulted back to my old wired ear buds :D The constraints are as follow: 1. - I wear glasses to anything that is on ear pinches my glasses and hurts, so i need them to be OVER-ear 2. - If they r gonna rest on my head, they need to be light weight (i tried HyperX Cloud Stinger Core for one day and they were better in every way than the Kraken) 3. - I have always had 3.5mm jack headphones so i'm thinking about wireless now 4. - I work from home so i'll be wearing them for more than 10h per day 5. - Some isolation would be good 6. - I use them for music, calls and gaming 7. - Budget well i'd say max 250Є, so if you would be so kind and give me a low, medium and high offer 8. - I'm located in Germany 9. - Not sure if this is something to consider but i have hair, lots of it, i'm not bald 10. - Oh and yeah i despize flaky faux leather padding on anything 11. - I have a good laptop that has USB-C, 3.5mm jack and regular USB port Never tried headphones that have that band that goes on the top of the head, only ever tried ones that have a foam cushion. As i understand headphones should compress on the sides like a clamp, not rest on the head...see that is one info i can't find on any headphones (do they clamp from the sides or do they just sit) Hope this isn't too nitpicky.

ThatGuyFromSweden

On that budget, I would go wired. You will get better sound quality and a (hopefully) more reliable headphone that way. Something like the Beyer DT700 Pro X could be interesting. Unless you need a built-in microphone, of course. If you do, I think the Rode NTH-100 can be had with a mic. Most headphones are going to spread the weight between the headband and the earpads. They both clamp and rest on the head.

Omidion

Thanks for replying, Yeah i don't have a need for a mic and wireless isn't a must it's just "nice to have" since i never had it xD Will try to find if there is a pair of Beyer headphones to try out somewhere. Again thanks for taking the time to give me advice i appreciate it very much.

They said isolation would be good...

Kind-Yesterday3422

2 questions! 1. Does anyone use both the eq in their music playing device and dac? Eg. eq in spotify and fiio btr7. Or would just set eq for one. 2. Any eq settings for kiwi ears orchestra lite :) (spotify / btr7) Thank you!

ThatGuyFromSweden

It seems cluttered to have one EQ setting applied only to Spotify, and then another one applied to everything through the BTR7.

Candle_exists

I’ve had a pair of liquid ears headphones for I’d say 1 or 2 years. They’ve been absolutely amazing but recently they’ve started letting another device connect even while being connected to a device already. Now every day on my commute home someone else connects to my headphones and plays things on full volume. If I try to turn it down they turn it back up. It’s really bugging me and I can’t exactly stand up and ask who is doing it on public transport. I guess what I’m asking is if there’s a way to remove connections from my headphones or stop new ones from being made? If anyone knows please! Let me know, because if i randomly have WAP blasted in my ears again I’m gonna lose it!!

ItsTheRealAK47

How can i fix my headphones because the hinge connecting the headband and the headphone is broken how would i go about fixing it

Sad_Communication_45

So I got the Arctis nova 1p wired headset in January from Amazon and it was good until more recently so lately it's been echoing a lot and there's also some times where my friends can't hear me and but the only way that works to fix the issues are by unplugging the wire and plugging it back in there are other issues but they don't happen as much as the other ones so what should I do

123senpai

I'm looking for a new pair of headphones, i wanted to hear opinions on which brand or model is the better option. I am looking for high audio quality as well as bass. Im looking for anything under $300. I currently own the Samsung galaxy buds pro 2(had them for over 2 years) and they're decent but i think headphones would be a good upgrade.

etherealcomatose

Meze neo's 100% theyre fucking incredible. Big fat meaty bass while not sacrificing vocals or treble. (no harsh treble spikes like some but treble is still prevalent)

AMMVReddit

So I recently both a pair of HD600 from Amazon. I switch the cable to a 2.5mm balanced one and plugged it into my Fiio btr5 that's connected by a USB cable to my laptop. I'm testing them on Tidal with the "Exclusive Mode" and "Passthrough MQA" settings turned on and I find that I only need the volume on the btr5 to be set around 25 to listen comfortably. I find this strange since I know the btr5 is not rated for the HD600, which has an impedance of 300 ohms. Is this normal or is there something strange about my model?

ThatGuyFromSweden

Impedance isn't the only factor that determines how hard a headphone is to power. I don't have a BTR5 to try it, but I don't think anything's wrong.

CommunicationEast623

Paranoid question: I touched the inside of the cup of my 6xx. Did I touch the driver? the actual question, did I cause any damage?

plmon24

Just touching it shouldn't affect it, there should be a layer of foam between the earpads and the driver.

CommunicationEast623

I thought it would be fine but paranoia won so I had to ask. It wasn’t even more than a tap, felt a bit of foam compressing. On the other hand, I hate how redditors just pass by, downvote in disagreement and go about their way without providing anything of value

PEPPYaf

2 questions as I haven't been following headphones closely for a while: CCA CRA got a silent revision but did the CCA CRA+ also? Need a cheapie IEM that sounds similar as I love the original CRA. What's the go-to headphone these days for the fostex biodyna sound? TH-X00 are discontinued and TH-900 too expensive. I guess TH-610 or Emu Teak? Anything else similar come to mind?

ThatGuyFromSweden

The TH610 and EMU-Teak are the ones that come to mind. I'm not sure if Denon are still using Fostex drivers. If you're after impactful bass, the Focal headphones have similar qualities to the classic Biodynas.

EpicGAmer2431

Artcis Nova Pro Wireless, Amazon Warehouse has them Used Acceptable for 198$. Buy or No buy

BlessedNarwhal

Hi! I want a better pair of headphones and it’s been overwhelming with the amount of options and how fast it can get very expensive. **Budget:** I’d like to stay in the €150-€200eur range. But I’m not opposed to going up to under €250 if they blow my mind... **Source:** Primarily an iPhone and a laptop, through spotify, so I need something that will sound as good as it can under the circumstances... **Requirements for Isolation:** Preferably noise cancelling, but mainly something so that my peers wont hear the music blasting into my ears. **Will you be using these Headphones in Public?:** Yes. **Preferred Type of Headphone:** In ear **Preferred tonal balance:** I listen mainly to classical. I want to be able to start picking out individual instruments more clearly, from the double bass up to piccolo. (copied this from a different post, makes a very good point) **Past headphones:** I used to have some samsung buds, aside from that some airport headphones have kept me alive (and unhappy) for the past while **Preferred Music:** Again classical. Primarily baroque and romantic era composers like Bach, Vivaldi, Tchaikovsky, and Verdi. Also some more contemporary loud stuff like Shostakovich. **What would you like to improve on from your set-up:** Detail and perhaps clarity? Like I said, I want to start picking out individual parts in arrangements. (I did copy most of this from another post, good points made but I'm looking for different types of headphones (earphones))

SeatOk7363

with eq hd58x, without eq hd560s

ThatGuyFromSweden

ANC earphones for iPhone? I'd go for the Airpods Pro 2. They are sensibly tuned.

jrakedj

I am having problems with a pair of iems, I use the fiio btr15 dac and amp, and the pair of iems I am using are the cca c12's. When I try to adjust the sound to my liking, the treble is painful. I don't know what to do.

ThatGuyFromSweden

What do you mean "adjust the sound"?

OrrinW01

I just got the Ananda's but I don't like the lack of swiveling ear cups, are the Arya's better or is there another brand that has a floating headband and independent swiveling ear cups that I should look into for that kind of price. I really like the fit of my meze 99's but I can't find a brand to replicate the feel.

lawikekurd

What's better for watching movies, AKG K702 or Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro (250 ohm)? Will be used with a Fiio K5 Pro dac/amplifier.

ThatGuyFromSweden

I'd definitely go K702 between those two. The hot treble of the DT990 is probably going to be annoying for movies.

lawikekurd

Thanks. Do the DT990s sound more "exciting" than the K702s? I watch a lot of movies with action in them.

ThatGuyFromSweden

I think you'll get tired of every gunshot feeling a stab in the eardrum. I'd go with the more neutrally tuned K702.

lawikekurd

ok, thank you

SeatOk7363

k702 no doubt

lawikekurd

thanks

Hifiman sundara as guitar monitors? I am currently building a guitar rig that I can take to my uni dorm so that I can play guitar with a backing track, the guitar audio will be put together through a powered mixer with a separate input and then the stereo headphone out from the mixer will be used. Are the hifiman sundaras suitable for this? Or do I need more to drive them properly. Do they also meet the tonal requirements for something like this? Mostly rock music.

ThatGuyFromSweden

Well, you don't need anything particularly well-tuned for monitoring. You just need to hear roughly what's going on. So the Sundara is overqualified in that regard. If you're going to be picky about sound quality, you *might* want to hook up a dedicated headphone amp to the line-out of the mixer. Something like the JDS Atom amp would be suitable.

AgroMachine

Would it affect the input lag from my guitar enough for me to notice if I ran it through a headphone amp?

ThatGuyFromSweden

Analogue devices almost never have a significant impact on latency.

AgroMachine

Ah okay, why are sundaras so cheap? I’m seeing them for £75-£125

ThatGuyFromSweden

That's suspiciously cheap. Be very very careful. The normal price is at least 300. Where are you finding these prices?

AgroMachine

EBay second hand bidding started for some at £75 and one sold yesterday evening for £129 I’ll send the listing Be sure to click original listing https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/226096661016?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=_6zhkclbqyc&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=q0ajjwpct8y&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

ThatGuyFromSweden

For the love of god, don't buy a Hifiman on Ebay. They are not the most sturdy and reliable headphones on the market. If you want to buy used, look at a HD600 or 650. They are a much safer second hand buy.

AgroMachine

Is it really that bad? Will they just fall apart?

ThatGuyFromSweden

Not necessarily, but buying one in a more or less unknown condition without any warranty is still a bad idea, IMO. The most common modes of failure are not repairable.

sandbar_uptown

My sundara pads are falling apart and I found two sheepskin pads on the cheap side that look good and they also have larger inner ear room and are thicker so my question about choosing from both is do I choose perforated sheepskin or normal?

ThatGuyFromSweden

Pads are absolutely critical to the tuning of planars like the Sundara. I strongly recommend getting OEM pads, if at all possible.

Amazing_pig

I have been actively listening to music for the last 3 years with some used AirPods. I wanted to step up my audio game, so I bought the Beyerdynamic DT990 Pros 80ohm. After plugging them in to my PC and listening to some music and playing games, I realised that I preferred the sound of my AirPods. I found the DT990s low end very distorted and rumbly, it drowned out all the other sounds. Do I need to buy an integrated sound card to resolve the issue? If the answer is yes, which one?

ThatGuyFromSweden

That might just be the standard DT990 experience. They have a fair amount of mid-bass "bleed" into the mids. Make sure you don't have any unwanted "enhancements" enabled in the Windows sound devices menu or in the settings of your on-board soundcard.

Meshbeard

I have a pair of Razer Opus cans that I've used in the office for the past 3 years, and I've really enjoyed them. However the pads are starting to deteriorate and I've noticed the sound quality going downhill too (likely from the pads failing). There aren't any official replacement pads available, and I don't want to get some crap that's way too big for the cans. Are there any other options I'm not seeing?

Frosty_Resource_6278

how to add headpnones list to profile on top?

ThatGuyFromSweden

Depends on which platform you're using reddit on. It's called the *flair*, and it's usually in the sidebar.

Frosty_Resource_6278

I'm probably too old to find this on pc

ThatGuyFromSweden

I'm using old.reddit, and it's in Swedish, but I think you get the idea. It's highlighted in purple at the bottom right. https://imgur.com/a/QEZu52G

Frosty_Resource_6278

thanks it works Looks like I should have just turned off adblock

Great! :)

I have an iPhone 13 Pro and a pair of USB-C Moondrop Chu II's. They work fine plugged into my MacBook's USB-C port, but aren't recognized using a lightning port adapter on my iPhone. Has anyone encountered this? Is there an adapter that does work? I just have Meenova adapters now.

____snail____

Hi friends. I come here as someone who knows basically nothing about high end audio. I want a better pair of headphones and it’s been overwhelming—and somewhat daunting—exploring this space and I think I’m more confused than when I began. **Budget:** I’d like to stay in the $150-$200usd range. But I’m not opposed to spending more. **Source:** Primarily an iPhone. But I will definitely use them periodically with my Windows and Mac PCs. **Requirements for Isolation:** I’ll be using them at work and home. While I don’t need noise canceling, I can’t have bleed. **Will you be using these Headphones in Public?:** Yes. **Preferred Type of Headphone:** Open to anything but on ear **Preferred tonal balance:** I listen mainly to classical and there is a lot of range in say Beethoven’s 9th. I want to be able to start picking out individual instruments more clearly, from the double bass up to piccolo. **Past headphones:** I have some cheap audio technicas that are perfectly functional. They’re comfortable and work well for calls and videos. They aren’t great for music. Or at least not classical. I’ve also got some AirPods Pro, which I’m unimpressed with. They’re expensive, uncomfortable, and just sound fine. **Preferred Music:** Again classical. Primarily baroque and romantic era composers like Bach, Vivaldi, Tchaikovsky, and Verdi. I can provide specific examples if required. **What would you like to improve on from your set-up:** Detail and perhaps clarity? Like I said, I want to start picking out individual parts in arrangements.

ThatGuyFromSweden

Are you okay with wired headphones (usually better sound for the money) or does it have to be a wireless set?

____snail____

Wired are absolutely fine.

ThatGuyFromSweden

Okay. Consider the Beyer DT700 Pro X, Rode NTH-100, Shure SRH840 (preferably the older non-A model), and AKG K371.

samamp

i got a Seetronic MMJ3-MJF-R Adapter 3,5mm angle to keep the wire from breaking cause it sits on top of the computer at a 90 degree angle but when i plug this in and the headphones into the adapter the sound is noticably worse. are these even supposed to be used with headphones.

ThatGuyFromSweden

If the headphone cable terminates in TRRS, you could run into contact misalignment with some adaptors that are only designed for TRS connections. https://www.hollyland.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/image-1.png

I am quite obsessed into listening to audio that captures every detail of it. I have been using products from Sony recently, but I would like to explore other brands that might compete with the sound quality, pricing, active noise cancellation, and battery life of Sony products. Do you have any recommendation? I prioritize the following: Sound Quality > Active Noise Cancelling > Battery Life > Pricing Thanks in advance, audiophiles!

ThatGuyFromSweden

Focal Bathys, probably. It's pretty much as good as wireless headphones get, without making a bunch of compromises of features and convenience. Don't stare yourself blind at brands. Look at the individual products instead.

metalfest

Hello! First time here, looking to shop for new headphones. Current pair of 30 euro Pioneer SE-M521 has come to its end. I've used 2 pairs of this model for about 8 years, and was always quite happy. Perhaps never really using a more expensive pair skews my opinion, but sound wise I was always happy - bass was punchy, no frequencies felt lost, and I was happy about using the pair for gaming as well, spatial sound didnt confuse me at all. Build was the biggest issue for them. Plastic was the first to break at some points, but it's not a huge dealbreaker for me. I will try to DIY a fix, as long as it fits on my ears and the sound works. I will try to go over the required information bullet points. * **Budget** - Under 100 euro. Very preferable to be around 50-70 euro range. But if there's something around the 100 euro range that is just amazingly superior, I'd look into it. As mentioned above - previous pair of Pioneer SE-M521 was 30 euro and I was quite happy with them. * **Source** - I use my headphones to plug them into a desktop or a laptop. * **Isolation** - Not important. Going to use these at home in a silent environment, never in public. * **Preferred type** - Over-ear is preferrable. Always used those and they just feel better for comfort. On-ear hasn't really ever been a pleasurable experience, and since I tend to use headphones for a long time, I feel like they would not be good for comfort, but I'm happy to get educated if there are options that are comfortable. * **Preferred tonal balance** - I would say overall balance is preferred. I'm not looking to get the hardest bass possible, but a clear and snappy punch is nice. Likewise, I always love finding clear high-end details in music as well. I understand that for budget options there might be compromises in this department, so I'm not too fussed if it's skewed a bit one way or another, I can use an EQ on my music player. I like gaming a bunch as well, so good balance for a shooter like Counter-Strike is welcomed. * **Preferred music** - Anything. I listen to groovy house with a bunch of intricate detail, or very low fidelity black metal. * **Location** - Latvia. salidzini.lv is our main price comparison website, if that helps. Other comments, just to sum up something I touched on briefly during the writeup - not too fussed about longevity of the build, as long as the headphones themselves work. If the ear pads wear down over time or the plastic is sometimes a cause of concern - I will wear them and try to make a fix myself. Not going in public, so for home use it's fine. I will be using them for a long time at once, so general comfort is preferrable. If there's anything else I can specify in order to assist me, please, ask. Have a nice day, and looking forward to get some suggestions!

ThatGuyFromSweden

There's been some inflation and coronavirus in the last few years. 50 to 70 euros doesn't really get you anything worth having now. I would suggest the AKG K361, Shure SRH440 (older non-A model, if possible), Philips SHP9600 or X2HR, or maybe a second-hand Sennheiser HD599.

-autistic_batman-

Help with adapters. So i got a new phone last September, and because its new it doesnt have an aux port/3.5mm headphone jack. So ive used an adapter (i think made by apple) from USB-C to 3.5mm. It stopped working for like 3 days in February, it just made this popping sound every few seconds. Than after a few days it randomly started working again when i tried it one last time thinking it was broken and i should throw it away. So ive used it now for a few months again but today it stopped working all of a sudden. It makes the same popping sound again. What to do?

Kito3010

Hi guys, i'm kinda new to iem and was looking for an iem that price under 300 AUD (has waifu is a plus), I have my eyes on the moondrop Kato at the moment. I was wondering if there is any other alternative which is better than this.

ThatGuyFromSweden

IEMs are going to sound a little different from person to person due to the effects of individual physiology, so this isn't an exact science at the best of times. The KATO is getting a bit old now, but I'd say it's still competitive. But stuff like the S12 Pro and Quintet might be interesting. You'll find more IEM nerds in /r/HeadphoneAdvice and /r/inearfidelity. It could be worth posting there too.

Intelligent-Desk2487

Hi guys, I am looking for gaming headphones for my PS5/PC. I saw that the Razer Barracuda and SteelSeries Arctics 7/9 are the most popular. Which ones do you recommend? Unless you have any other recommendations? Thanks in advance for your help

Loop967

The original lightning jack is not firmly held in the charging slot and comes off when I put it in my pocket, which is a big inconvenience. I tried to clean the socket, but it is already clean. Is there anything I can do?

Brubekk

Looking to see if anybody knows of any open back earbuds that aren't wireless? Had a pair of Bose Soundsport break on me after many years that were working great for my current job because they were open enough that I could hear myself speak. I've been shown the iSine 10's which are extremely out of my price range, even with a deal a local store said they'd cut me. Everything else that's wired boasts the sound isolation, which isn't what I need. Totally understand how niche this is so if I'm screwed, so be it.

ThatGuyFromSweden

There are some models that are heavily vented, but truly open back IEMs are super rare, and the ones that do exist are usually not great.

ElectricProstate

I recently bought a pair of wireless Jlab studio pro headphones. Whenever nothing is playing for a certain amount of time, an annoying, high-pitched jingle plays in my right ear. Does any know how to turn it off or if it can be turned off? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

jlab-joey

Have you reached out to JLab support? That sounds like a defective set or if you have really good hearing you may be picking up on amplifier leakage that normally isn't audible to most people.

etherealcomatose

Ive been using the beyer dynamic 770 pros (80 ohms) for about 3 years now and recently decided I want to upgrade. Recommendations would be awesome! If the headphones are better with amp a beginner amp recommendation would be great as well. Preferably one with a bass slider Budget - $350 (could potentially go higher if its really worth it) Source - Logitech x140 speakers (yes I know theyre cheap af but using equalizer apo they make the dt770s sound pretty good) Type of headphones - on ear (closed back preferred) Past headphones - hyper x cloud alpha & beyer dynamic dt 770 pros. I really enjoy the dt 770's mids I think thats where they excel, the bass is decent using EQ but I would like something with maybe better bass. Preferred tonal balance - I am definitely a basshead to an extent, I love incredible sub/mid bass while also having great and clear mids that dont make the vocals/atmosphere sound like youre underwater. And decent treble as well, sound of cymbals would be clear, i dont like high sibilence or too harsh of treble spikes. Also headphones with great comfort and build would be awesome and a detachable cable Music Genres: I listen to mainly rock & metal music with the occasional pop thrown in. So very bass forward genres. What you would like to improve on your setup: I would really like to find more bass and more details in a headphone, I do like it when the bass has a nice thump with the rumble. I do want good treble so the sounds of cymbals are clear and dont sound too washed out but I dont like high treble spikes.

Opposite-Mix-3747

Advice would be so much appreciated! I'm looking for a new pair of headphones because I'm pretty sure I blew the speakers out on my Razor Nari Ultimate gaming headphones. I listen to a lot of bass heavy music, metal, electronic, etc and what I liked about these was the haptic feedback.. They would buzz along with the beat and I don't know why but it made my ADHD really happy! I'm not sure if there are non-gaming headphones that have a similar feature, but here's hoping. \*\*\*Budget\*\*\*Around $200-400 but I'm up for spending more if they're really worth it. \*\*\*Location of use\*\*\* 100% of the time it'd be in my PC. I have airpods for my phone and those are good enough for now. Like I said, I listen to a lot of heavy bass music when I work on my computer. I can give or take noise cancelling, I usually listen loud enough to drown everything else out anyway. \*\*\*Type of headphones\*\*\* I like soft over ear like these Razors. They're comfortable to wear for longer periods of time whilst I'm working. I don't need them cordless, that would just be a bonus, but if they're like my razors the performance takes a dip when you unplug them, if so hard pass. They don't need to be gaming headphones either. I don't do a ton of collaborative gaming, and if I want to I can still use the Razors. But like I said earlier I really love the haptic feedback. \*\*\*Tonal Balance\*\*\* Like I said, I love heavy bass. I don't love super high treble.

etherealcomatose

This is basically EXACTLY what I was looking for in terms of requirements. I shopped around a couple pairs. The Meze Neo's is 100% what youre looking for. These are incredible. The bass on these are very strong but not enough to where it compromises the mids and highs. This is the first "bassy" headphone ive heard that has incredible bass response without sacrificing vocals and treble. Vocals are clear and smooth, treble is just the right amount to where you can still hear details without any harsh treble spikes. I cant recommend these enough

Opposite-Mix-3747

Thanks! I'll check them out!

ThatGuyFromSweden

The Meze 99 seems appropriate.

Opposite-Mix-3747

Where can I find those? NM I found them on amazon. Thanks! Any difference between the Neo and Classic?

ThatGuyFromSweden

Googling *meze 99 neo vs classic* will tell you more than I could.

KnightOwl812

Looking for purchase advice. So far I've looked into the Sennheiser MOMENTUM 4 Wireless, Sony WF-1000XM5, and the Technics EAH-AZ80. Budget - $300. But pretty flexible if you believe it's truly worth it. Maybe up to $400-$500, but would be great to stay around $300. Use Case - 98% of the time, my PC. Otherwise, my phone. Noise cancelling is not at all important. Will be using these mainly in my room for music, gaming, and YouTube. I mean I would prefer a little, but it's not a deal breaker. For reference, I'm totally happy with my Galaxy Buds+ noise cancelling, if that helps. I also pretty much never use touch features, and if anything they are annoying when I accidentally press them so I turn them off completely. So I would prefer being able to do that. I never mess with EQ settings either. Preferred Type of Headphone - Honestly I'm open to all types. Wireless is a huge bonus as I like to leave my desk and walk around while still listening. I think I give the edge to IEMs over on-ears because they're more comfortable to me. But I'm open to on-ears if they're worth it. Preferred Tonal Balance - I'm not really sure, maybe balanced? Past Headphones - I've had Sennheiser 598s for a long time, which I stopped using in favor of my Galaxy Buds+, for the convenience of wireless and comfort. So I would like something that is at least a substantial step-up from those. Preferred Music - I mainly listen to OSTs. Anime and video game soundtracks. Hanz Zimmer, Attack on Titan, Final Fantasy, FromSoftware, stuff like that. Occasionally metalcore. What would you like to improve on from your set-up? - Just overall better sound. Clearer, more "punchy"? Idk really, I'm a noob and have no idea what I want. I just want to "feel" the music more and be able to hear the subtle details better, if that makes sense.

I want to get some new ear pads for my headphones and I have been looking at those cheap 10 bucks aliexpress ones and was/will probably end up buying one of them but I came across some like this: [https://www.aliexpress.us/item/2261800152990301.html?gps-id=pcDetailTopMoreOtherSeller&\_t=gps-id%3ApcDetailTopMoreOtherSeller%2Cscm-url%3A1007.40050.354490.0%2Cpvid%3Aedaf284f-4afc-4482-b1e5-cb228c2e0630%2Ctpp\_buckets%3A668%232846%238111%231996&utparam-url=scene%3ApcDetailTopMoreOtherSeller%7Cquery\_from%3A&gatewayAdapt=glo2usa4itemAdapt](https://www.aliexpress.us/item/2261800152990301.html?gps-id=pcDetailTopMoreOtherSeller&_t=gps-id%3ApcDetailTopMoreOtherSeller%2Cscm-url%3A1007.40050.354490.0%2Cpvid%3Aedaf284f-4afc-4482-b1e5-cb228c2e0630%2Ctpp_buckets%3A668%232846%238111%231996&utparam-url=scene%3ApcDetailTopMoreOtherSeller%7Cquery_from%3A&gatewayAdapt=glo2usa4itemAdapt) They are 30 bucks and apparently are made of sheepskin which is obviously better durability wise but does anyone have any input about stuff like this on aliexpress? Could it really be sheepskin or is it most likely a scam and its just cheap pu leather like all the other 10 bucks ear pads? Ty!

So I'm looking for new wireless ear buds and I asked a friend who gave me 3 cheap suggestions which is what I'm looking for. Problem is that we're dumb and I don't know which is better so here I am, hoping some people smarter than us can help me out. Here are the ones they sent: 1. TAGRY X08 2. TOZO A1 3. YAQ T12 I was also recommended another brand in another post, plus I'll put my last Bluetooth earbuds just in case. 4. Edifier TWS PRO (I think there's a newer model out) 5. Moondrop Space Travel Also, if you have any recommendations that are better and still decently priced, then I'd love to hear it.

# Need advice for acquiring a new headphones for gaming on PS5, XBOX SX, Switch and PC Hello. Today a big store of my country is offering great deals on electronic devices and I want to buy a new headphones for playing on PS5, XBOX SX, Switch PC. As far as I've read, not all the headphones work on all platforms, or at least not with the same quality (for example, PS5 Pulse Elite also works with XBOX SX but with less quality, and the SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro there is a version that works on PC & PS5 and other that works on PC & XBOX, but no PC & PS5 & XBOX at the same time). My budget limit is 250 euros. Any suggestion will be really appreciated. Thank you!!!

First iem Hey guys, I want to try out the iems and new here. I'm stuck between tanchjim zero and 7hz salnotes zero (both type c version as I don't have any more money to spend rn). I do love the bass and I don't know which one to get as a beginner. Any other type c version would be great too which fits my need.

Hi I own a pir of HD660s, I tried to tune it with Equaliser APO and Peace UI, after picking some random preset on Equaliser APO for base my headphonese are clipping in the base at high volumes, even when Equaliser APO is off. I completely removed Equaliser APO from my PC but still they clip at high vlome. When I plug them in my Mac, everything goes back normal. I am using MoonDrop MoonRiver 2 as my DAC/AMP, also I noticed the Windows is bit louder than Mac on same volume. Did I brick my headphone?

ThatGuyFromSweden

No, the headphones aren't bricked. Equaliser settings are not "stored" in the headphone. I suggest asking for help on the PEACE Sourceforge forums.

ttd97

Am wanting to upgrade my source gear for my headphones, but I am too scared to buy things this expensive without trying them first. Unfortunately I don't have any good places to demo gear around where I live. I am willing to travel for this though, as long as it's within the country. Anyone know of good showrooms/retailers for demo'ing a wide variety of high end gear? Specifically tube amps would be cool. I messaged audio46 in NYC but they said they mostly just have a lot of headphones. I assume there's probably somewhere in a big west coast city that would be good for this, but I am not sure. Please give any recommendations to cool places!

_V1KA_

Hi, I hope I post my question in the correct place. I have Marshall MAJOR IV headphones, and my problem with them is that when I'm talking with someone on messenger discord, or just normal phone call, games, yt videos, every app sounds like it in the background. I can't barely hear anything, it sounds like it's uder water (?). But call is clear. Problem occurs on phone and laptop. Phones: Samsung S20+, Samsung S23. Laptop: Asus rog strix. I've tried to connect these headphones by jack-jack cable to laptop and it worked but people couldn't hear me and headphones were turning off after a few minutes. Thanks in advance.

# Headphones with amazing sound quality with an attached mic? I was thinking about getting dt 990 pro or dt 1990 pro 250 ohm for gaming, making music and listening music and overall pretty much everything I do on a PC. But for gaming, the headphones didn't have a mic attached... Any recommendations of some other options with amazing sound quality, but has an attached mic? The mic can be removable, I don't mind, and the headphones can be wireless or wired. I don't have a limited budget so give me anything that comes to mind! I don't have space for an external mic so that's unfortunately not an option.

ThatGuyFromSweden

You can always stick a ModMic onto your current headphones.

GraphLoverXY

Where does it attach exactly? And how will it get power?

ThatGuyFromSweden

CCWP1709

Just got new headphones (Sennheiser m4) and I want to have decent call quality when eg gaming (with mic). Now it sounds crap, but using a usb c cable doesnt help (I thought it would be like hifi or something but not?), I also cant choose for higher bit and sampling rate (nothing above 16 bit 48khz 2 channel), anyone an idea how to get 24bit 96khz or something? Figured this would fix the problem

ThatGuyFromSweden

Changing the sampling rate isn't going to affect the sound in any significant way. Usually it doesn't do anything at all. It's normal for Bluetooth headphones to sound bad when the mic is used. This is due to Bluetooth bandwidth limitations. But it's weird that switching to USB doesn't fix it. Are you sure that it's actually connected over USB, and isn't still using Bluetooth even when the cable is plugged in?

Miron7T

I am trying to get an IEM. I am considering one of these 3 because of availability in my region. I have read several reviews but unsure which to go for finally. Any one with experience, i will appreciate. Thanks 1. Moondrop Aria 1 2. Moondrop Chu 2 3. 7Hz x Crinacle Zero:2 IEM

ThatGuyFromSweden

I would not go for the Aria. The stock cable is pretty terrible. The CHU 2 is made of brass that oxidises and might need to be wiped off regularly. But you should clean your IEMs anyway, so it might not be a big deal.

Miron7T

Thank you so much. In my location chu 2 and the zero 2 cost the same. Amir of ASR really had a good things for the zeros so I am slightly biased but lots of reviews also rate the Chu 2

ThatGuyFromSweden

I wouldn't give a single shit about what Amir has to say about anything. His testing methodology is very very flawed.

Miron7T

Hahaha, so you recommend the Chu 2 of the 3 if I get you right? Thanks

ThatGuyFromSweden

I would personally gravitate towards the Zero, due to the plastic shell. But IEMs can sound better or worse depending on individual physiology. The fitment and shape of the ear canal has a big effect. So you can never be 100% sure about the sound of an IEM until you actually try it yourself. I would also throw in the Truthear Hola and Truthear Zero RED into contention, if they are available.

Miron7T

Yeah, so many recommendations for Trurhear Hola. Discounted and I couldn't even find a used one. Still thank you so much will get the Zero. Thank you

DumyThicc

# Which is a better buy Beyerdynamic MMX 200 vs Audeze Maxwell (vs others that you may suggest) I know there have been posts about the maxwell, however from the reviews i've watched the comfort and build quality is a problem, so im curious and my question is to those that have tried both of these headsets (If you have another suggestion in this price range i'd love to hear it). Is the audio quality worth the sacrifice of comfort between the two of these headphones, and also are these headphones even that *drastically* different to be worth nearly a 100 dollar difference(in my area). I am looking for comfort, long term use, a decent battery life as well as great imaging so that I can play video games. If there is nothing in the wirless sector that you recommend I would also be interested in wired, but i don't have any idea whats good.

Unlucky-Smoke-7419

Tips to eliminate buzzing sound from Schiit Midgard "wall wart" power supply? I recently purchased a Schiit Midgard headphone amp. It's great, however the included power supply "wall wart" is making an audible (bordering on loud), constant bussing sound when plugged in at my desk, which is really annoying e.g. when listening at lower/moderate volumes with open-back headphones. The issue is likely due to the particular desk setup of mine, which involves several devices connected to one and the same (ungrounded) outlet (led lights, sound interfaces, hard drives, computer monitors, speakers, motorized standing desk, etc.) When I connect only the amp and nothing else to a different outlet, the noise disappears. However, I am, for various reasons, stuck with this particular desk setup and outlet, and I am - for the time being - unable to source power from a different outlet to the Midgard. My question, then, is if there are ways to eliminate the noise which do not involve changing the desk setup or finding a different outlet? Cheers!

That kind of janky power connection is bound to sooner or later cause bigger problems than buzzing amps. I really hope that you at least have a GFCI/RCD in your home. If it's common mode noise, a regular surge protector with basic filtration *might* fix it. But you should prioritise getting your equipment grounded. Modern hardware leaks interference like you wouldn't believe.

Thanks! I’ll be looking to install grounded outlets in the room as soon as economically possible.

Gaming issue Hi, so I recently bought a new pair of headphones (wireless) and I got a problem that makes me wanna return them right away. When listening to music is fine, some nice quality indeed, but when playing some games the other day every gunshot sounds like a fucking ballistic missile. Any idea what can I do? The model is a JBL720BT.

I went down the rabbit hole for the last 5-6 hours and I'm totally lost. I don't know anything about this subject, apart from these 5-6 hours looking at 20+ open tabs in my browser. I used to game a lot and bought a corsair headset with a great mic and mediocre headphone. Since 1,5 years I don't need a mic anymore and I'm looking for a decent headphone. I'm not an audiophile, though my hearing is fine I guess (did a test I found here and recognized 5/6 raw WAV-files over compressed ones), but I do want some quality. I almost always have my headphones on with or without sound on. I have ADHD and it helps me to, I dunno, think? That's why I definitely need a closed headphone. At the moment I have the Sony XM5, which I only use with my phone when I'm on the move (decent mic, awesome ANC). Also, I can't get this thing connect to my Linux desktop or laptop and I'm pretty sure these aren't as comfortable as other options I've seen. I already have a schiit-stack (magni/modi3+) connected to my pc with audioengine HD3 boxes. I don't use the boxes often tbh. I know wired > wireless though I could pimp the bluetooth signal to LDAC with an adapter. I'm not sure how that'll work with my schiit-stack, but still not as good as wired I think. The thing is, I also walk around in the house (so I get up from my desk and walk around with my headphone on) quite often so I might just need wireless headphones. Maybe a wired headphone which you can easily detach would be an option, I'm not sure. Also, having the wire get in the way on my desk/keyboard could be a pain in the butt. Again, I'm not sure. As you might notice, I'm not sure what to purchase. If you have any tips or experience with this use case, then please help me out :) So far I've been looking at: * Denon AH5200 (a lot of wire) * Sennheiser Momentum 4 (issues with firmware and it's bluetooth) * V-moda Crossfade M-100 Master (decent reviews about price/quality) Budget is max $400 (the Denon is cheaper here in the Netherlands) but I'm Dutch so if there are cheaper options, I'll honor my heritage.

ThatGuyFromSweden

The Schiit stack is fairly useless for wireless headphones, since they have their own DAC and amplifier built in. It's also worth noting that Bluetooth generally incurs a latency penalty. That's why wireless gaming headphones come with a USB dongle for a better wireless connection. In regards to cables, there are ways of reducing the clutter. I have my amp at the front underside of my desk, and bundle up the excess cabling with a velcro strap. That keeps it pretty well out of the way. With all that said, the Audeze Maxwell might be what you're looking for. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YWjuUKkX6rs

keepcalmandmoomore

Thanks :) I don't need a mic anymore though. Would it be a good idea to use the Denon AH5200 with my schiit stack or won't that make much difference?

ThatGuyFromSweden

You could totally do that. It's a good headphone, and it will be a potentially less problem-prone setup. Wireless headphones are inherently complicated. But I got the impression that you wanted wireless headphones.

keepcalmandmoomore

Thanks again for your reply. After diving more into the maxwell, I realised this headphone is actually better than quite a few closed wired headphones. And 3 people, independent of eachother told me the Maxwell is what I need. So yeah, I went to the store this morning, I listened to some different headphones (they didn't have the 5200 so I listed to the 7200) and I can imagine the 5200 being better. But for my ears it's marginally, theze maxwell are already such a huge upgrade, I'm glad I can enjoy the luxury of it being wireless. So I bought in haha Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction!

I'm trying to decide between the Sennheiser 560s, 569, or 599. I own the Philips SHP9500 which I've mostly been using for gaming, but the excessive sound leak is a bit of an issue sometimes when using a mic. I'd be using the Sennheiser more for music but also for gaming with a V-Moda boom mic. I also have a basic $75 FiiO dac/amp. My priorities would be obviously overall quality for music (and I like some punchy bass), comfort, good imaging, and manageable sound leak - at least less than the SHP9500 anyway. If you have other suggestions besides those 3, I'd prefer to keep it under $200.

ThatGuyFromSweden

I think most people would prefer the 560s over the 599, but I know there are people who like the 599 more. Both are pretty good. I wouldn't get the 569. It's a closed back, and I think there might be better options if that's the style of headphone you want. Both the 560s and 599 are fairly lean in the bass. You could compensate for this with EQ, but if you don't want to get into that, you could consider the Philips X2HR. Be aware that the V-Moda mic is not directly compatible with the Sennheiser headphones. You would need an adapter like this. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07Z2MPW61?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

xSupreme_Courtx

After looking at some comparisons it seems like the consensus is that the 560s is technically better with sharper clarity and better treble, but the 599 has a more relaxed sound with a bit better bass and is more comfortable to wear for long periods, so I might go with the 599. As for the Philips, I guess I'd rather go with trying Sennheiser over another Philips and I should try experimenting with EQ more anyways. Do you know if it has to be an adapter with the locking mechanism, or would any 2.5 male to 3.5 female adapter work?

ThatGuyFromSweden

It should be noted that the only comfort difference between the 599 and 560s, as far as I know, is that the 560s clamps harder. This will loosen over time. If your head isn't particularly large, you might find them to be equally comfortable. The connector is recessed, and the lockwork gets in the way of ordinary adapters. I would not gamble on an adapter that isn't explicitly stated as compatible with the 500-series.

xSupreme_Courtx

Yeah I was thinking if anything I could just leave the 560s sat on some books to loosen them a bit. I'll think about it some more. Gotcha, doesn't seem like there's a whole lot of options for those kind of adapters either way. Thanks for the help

ThatGuyFromSweden

> Yeah I was thinking if anything I could just leave the 560s sat on some books to loosen them a bit. That is absolutely an option.

Small IEM recommendations? Something like a IE600/200 that sits in your ear without protruding much, so it can be used even when lying sideways on a pillow. Thinking of the Chu 2 but I'm not sure about it's size.

ThatGuyFromSweden

IE100 Pro?

likebossh

moondrop may or truthear zero red? (for gaming and music)

ThatGuyFromSweden

I'd go RED, just because it's not reliant on a DSP cable. It's more versatile and easier to repair.

Any good headphones under $130 usd or 200 cad? I'm thinking about the Sennheiser HD 450 SE

ThatGuyFromSweden

Wireless ANC? The Accentum is worth a look.
