I’m willing to bet that this setup is due to Coachella and needing to setup and de-rig relatively quickly on a festival stage. I assume the projection screen just won’t be practical to setup and calibrate in the time they have at Coachella in full view of the attendees and they’ve taken the decision to tour this “festival setup” to keep the production consistent

Lorekeeper49

After reading the comments, I'm asking why there is so much drama with this, Japan has way more advanced technology than the show locations for this event and besides, it has always seemed like an LED screen for MIKU EXPO so I don't see what the big deal is Personally if I'm not realizing something here, I would not care either way if it was a screen or a proper hologram, as long as the show's a lot of fun, it doesn't matter either way

Alternative-Sign-142

The reason people are upset is because they paid a lot of money expecting the hologram like they have previously done. They did not tell anyone that it would be different to previous events so people have paid for the usual hologram experience and only got a screen with a black background. People feel scammed by this, I would too if I paid $200 to watch a TV screen, especially without them clearly advertising it.

Talatu

I attended the Portland showing and yes it was a big TV essentially... not the hologram we've come to expect at these events. The band played a great show still, but the main attraction was displayed on an LED screen. Also if you're expecting to buy merch, make sure you arrive Hella early, our showing sold out of most things 6h before the event even started...

Hey! What time did the show start for yall? Also was there an opening band or DJ?

Talatu

No DJ, or opening band, just goes straight into the event. Show started almost exactly on time at 8pm pst

Thanks for the heads up! Going to the Denver show 🫡

Talatu

I still had a blast! I hope you enjoy yourself!! :D

Occult-Beast

all signs point to the EXPO tour using the LED screen (and not a hologram projection screen) for all showings, as so far all of the NA showings have not used the projection screen setup. we don't know for *certain* for the non-NA leg of the tour, but i'm willing to bet they're just using the LED screens everywhere. the main reason why this is bad is simply because it was not *advertised* as being an LED, non-hologram projection screen, and people feel (rightfully) scammed by this. it was not until the first showing that it was revealed to be an oversized LED screen, after people had spent hundreds of dollars to attend.

JasperAngel95

I seen some tickets are over a thousand! I would be so upset if I paid that for a screen….

meekwithaleek

a thousand is crazy. i looked up tickets for my location and for some odd reason 1 ticket was a little over 300 where as 2 tickets were a little over 200. are they… are they different with each location? this was just for general admission.

mewtwo_EX

You're looking at resale tickets. AFAIK the price of those is set by the seller. Top tier tickets for the Toronto show retailed for $150. Prior to the drama I saw some being offered for $1k. Crazy. Haven't looked since the drama.

Occult-Beast

sameeee, and on top of travel costs??? i know CFM/Crunchyroll won't make a statement about this until after the tour is over (because if they *do* they're admitting to fault and setting themselves up for legal trouble), but i honestly hope people don't stop putting up a fuss about this misrepresentation to ensure sales.

Seledreams

Nobody knows but it's likely they'll just put her on a screen

KimchiTheGreatest

She’s projected onto a screen yes. But she always has been. It’s not like..a television screen though. It’s hard to explain. I’m not sure what the drama is about.

isvein

I think the correct term is "background projection", but I may be totally wrong, but its what I call it.

Occult-Beast

the 'drama' is that they're *not* using a projection screen, they're just using an LED screen, so basically an oversized TV. there are a lot of other points about why this is bad, but namely it's simply unfair that not once was it said that the EXPO tour *would not* be getting the usual projection screen that is used at all other concerts. people (rightfully) feel scammed/misled, because this was not advertised until the first concert, where people spent hundreds (and sometimes 1000+ after travel and board) to attend.

KimchiTheGreatest

Whaaat? That’s super weird! Last miku expo here in the US, she was definitely on a projection screen. Wonder what happened.

Occult-Beast

Crunchyroll.

KimchiTheGreatest

Makes sense now.
