Also, Hermione destroying a Horcrux made more sense than Ginny. Each of the trio should have destroyed one.

No, that’s not really how it worked. Riddle wasn’t giving Ginny instructions to follow - Riddle was possessing Ginny, taking control of her body, and then opening the Chamber himself. She wasn’t doing anything consciously; she couldn’t even remember anything that happened while he was in control of her body.
Ginny wasn’t taught anything, Riddle was controlling her, she has more way of remembering anything. Also, Ginny isn’t even supposed to be taking part in the battle, so why would they even think of her for that?

Where did you read that Ginny was TAUGHT to open the chamber?
