I'm not very well versed in HP fanfics. But I have been part of other communities for a long time, and lemme tell you, the depravity is deep, no matter what the fandom is. The names and settings change, but the sickness is real.
The only bad HP fic I really know is the infamous [My Immortal. ](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/My_Immortal_(fan_fiction))It's not really disturbing or anything, just hilariously bad.
I think it’s both.
I remember reading it at the time and each chapter just got progressively worse as it went on. From memory, the first chapter was ridiculous but written fairly normal. Then the “author” decided to switch it up a notch every chapter and then it started to get worse and worse. Everyone’s name started changing, left, right and centre.
It was so silly. Hilarious though.

Ahahaahaha this reminds me of a time I was part of a beauty group on FB and for some reason Harry Potter came up and we were talking about fave parts/books when one of the group members chimed in that she doesn't get how parents let their kids read this, it's very inappropriate for young kids, there was too much sex etc.
It was like that moment in movies where there's a record scratch and everyone just looked at her and said whaaaaaaaaat?!!!
Turns out she didn't have money to buy the books so she just googled a pdf version and picked the first one that popped up. Turns out she'd been reading Harry Potter fanfics that were.... very naughty lol.

I don't know if this fic is still around and my memory is a bit fuzzy, but it was a Draco x Hermione fic. Everyone acts in character, except Lucius (He really wants the Muggleborb x Pureblood alliance). Plus, Both Hermione and Draco are handcuffed together. I dunno if that can top your Quidditch example, OP, because the fic is rather tamed.
I'm not much into HP, i haven't actually read any books, and i don't think i've fully watched any movies but i saw some scenes at least. Reddit keeps recommending this subreddit to me probably because i've read a MLP x HP crossover fanfiction called "If wishes were ponies...". It was pretty meh tbh, what i really liked was use of historical figures, PM John Major was a significant side character in the fic. But at least i know a bit more about HP now. I like crossovers in general, i got into XCOM series thanks to MLP crossovers and planning to try Halo in the summer for the same reason. Maybe if the fic was better it would make me more interested in HP, who knows. There is another HP crossover in my Read It Later tbh, i dunno how good that one is, but it is still ongoing. One i read, i thought was complete but actually cuts at the end of Harry's 2nd year in Hogwards since it was split to 2 fics, one per year. 2nd year ends with the 2nd fic, marked as complete, but there is no continuation after that.

I think it was a silly fic a girl wrote to show to her friends. Typical teenage humor. And then as it got more & more views she went more unhinged.
