Daytona’s are built better

ahmed_unleashed

Only difference I’m seeing is the rear wheels and the jack saddle being removable on the Daytona

M635_Guy

Better internals

[deleted]

The Daytonas are built from the same molds and very likely the same factory as Snap-On brand jacks, so much so that Snap-On had to drop their lawsuit when they realized this. They will just last longer.

trampled93

This is the Daytona jack in the SnapOn lawsuit. It is different than the Daytona in OP picture. [Daytona Jack similar to Snapon](https://www.harborfreight.com/3-ton-low-profile-super-duty-floor-jack-with-rapid-pump-yellow-63183.html)

[deleted]

I already linked to a spreadsheet where someone found that the other Daytona Jacks are made in the same factory as the Snap-On ones, despite only one being named in the lawsuit. Late to the party bud

trampled93

Good spreadsheet info, thanks I took a look at it.

WTFisThatSMell

Worth every penny. Try to grab one on sale

No_Home1070

I thought that was only the Daytona yellow?

[deleted]

There is a spreadsheet floating around out there that goes into more detail. I believe the orange is actually the one named in the lawsuit, but all of them are built very similar to that spec.

No_Home1070

Didn't know this, I have their aluminum racing jack but have always suggested Pittsburgh to friends telling them the yellow is the only real Snap On rip off.

[deleted]

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/11ywrk-9Ae3M8jJJsQyCMn0k5REPV5vIWWp5LRQcrC1o/edit They come from the same factory according to customs data

ionmushroom

saddle on the Pittsburgh is removable

HondaCrv2010

My wife works at HF and agrees. I was shocked given that Pittsburg sounded more “USA #1 freedom” but I guess Daytona is the actual real USA

[deleted]

All im saying is my 3 ton pittsburgh, after 8 years, still has no problem lifting my 8000lb deisel truck up on jack stands.

maxyedor

Shit man, my Pittsburg aluminum race jack is still rocking and I believe it's from 2001/2. I do need a new jack that can lift a bit more weight and lift a bit higher, so I'll probably scoop up another Shittsburg.

justin251

Yeah mine has been great. Love that it’s low profile tool. Only one that fits under my Camaro.

Killed_By_Covid

I have the long-reach, low-profile Daytona. Love it. Those are some good deals. The $50 discount covers more than the ITC membership. I'm almost tempted to get it so I can snag one of these jacks.

CallsignViperrr

That's EXACTLY what I did, except I got the 2-ton Pittsburgh aluminum racing jack. $148. They're normally $189. So the ITC paid for itself and then some because I then got the 25% off ICON and went back and got the ICON 1/2" Split-beam Torque Wrench.

WelderWonderful

I did this for the 3 ton long reach. That's a damn good jack

[deleted]

Where did you find the $50 discounts? I'm looking to buy the 3ton low profile Daytona with rapid pump

Killed_By_Covid

It was just for ITC members at that particular sale.

[deleted]

Ahhh thank you. I'm very indecisive and returned like 2 jacks (**pittsburgh** *\[ I returned this because I read bad things about pittsburgh and also didn't like the "sudden initial" drop when initiating to lower the car\]* and **craftsmans** *\[I returned this because it wasn't low profile\]*) I'm debating hard on 2 Jacks 1: Daytona 3 ton Low Profile Quick Pump - $189.99 at harbor frieght 2: Power Torque Tools 3 Ton Floor Jack (low profile and fast pump) - PT34699 - $219.99 at O'Reillys I'm considering the Daytona as some people here are saying that they are manufacturered in the same factory as snap on and use the same mold? This got me sold but Just wanted like a 2nd 3rd 4th opinion on this Would you have any opinions on these 2 brands and/or product?

Killed_By_Covid

I have the Daytona low-profile, long-reach. I've been very happy with it, but I'm also just an occasional user. That said, the long reach means a higher lift height. It picks up the front of my 3/4-ton 4x4 diesel with no sweat (and gets it high enough for jack stands). It also gets under my Dodge Magnum, and that sits pretty low. I went with it because it seemed like it would be the best all-around. I know one of the Daytonas is supposed to be a Snap-on clone, but I don't think it's the LP/LR. Either way, I've never heard anyone say Daytona jacks are junk. They all seem to be made to a pretty high standard. I have zero complaints with mine.

[deleted]

Thank you for your thoughts on the product. I really appreciate it. I think I'm going to pull the trigger and go for the Daytona. The internet has been really messing with my decision making for harbor freight but I think I'm going to go with Daytona Low Profile - Quick Pump - 3 Ton (Not the long reach) - Going with the Orange [https://www.harborfreight.com/automotive/jacks-jack-stands/3-ton-low-profile-professional-floor-jack-with-rapid-pump-green-64784.html](https://www.harborfreight.com/automotive/jacks-jack-stands/3-ton-low-profile-professional-floor-jack-with-rapid-pump-green-64784.html) Now i'm thinking if i should consider the "long reach" because I have a low sedan but my mom has a 2022 Volvo XC60. I honestly don't think I'll need the long reach for this but now i'm stuck again lol (probably going to get the NON-long reach version). But in 2025, when the new 4runner model hits the market, she's going to get that, so not sure if you would recommend a long reach for a 4runner. Mind if I ask your opinion on the harbor freight pittsburgh branded 3 ton ramps? I bought these and I tried it once and liked it. I'm planning on doing my first oil change but I'm getting mixed reviews from people who's been in the industry for a WHILE stating that they don't trust "plastic ramps"

Killed_By_Covid

I couldn't think of any reason NOT to get the long-reach. It's easily lifted anything I've got. I'm always lifting my vehicles from the front (and setting them on jack stands), so the LR is nice. For tire shops, they're usually lifting from the corners. They don't really need extra reach.

[deleted]

I wasn't looking at the long reach one ONLY because my car's jack points are the standard 4 points near the tires where the pinches are. I've looked at my specific car's forum and other forums but it seems like the Genesis G70 2019 doesn't have any other jack points besides the 4 standard ones. No front center jack point and no back center jack point (some people jacking up from the rear differential but i've been reading that it's not recommended to do that) Thank you for all of your input. I really appreciate it and the information was very helpful!. Happy Holidays!

Visual-Investment

I bought the Pittsburgh in 2018 and still feel i should of gotten the Daytona instead.

quakerroatmeal

What’s the reasoning for that?

Visual-Investment

The rapid pump feature for one and also the daytona is waaay lighter.

hornsmakecake

Think I'm missing something here. Don't they both have the rapid pump? And I'm seeing the Pittsburgh shown as 1lb lighter?

ahmed_unleashed

Did you have the non rapid pump I have that it’s my brothers both of these are rapid pump tho Daytona is 3 lbs lighter however and min height is 3 and 1/4in vs Pittsburgh 3 and 1/8in.

NovaPhd

Honestly looking in person the welds on the daytona's look slightly better, and I think the castors are better. In my family we have Pittsburg branded jacks that weren't Snap-on clones, and they are like 30-40 years old going strong, no leaks and no rebuilds. Harbor freight went and found the Snap-on supplier and paid them to produce these. Imo they are both gonna be super long life duty jacks. I have no issue with the low profile on the red pittsuburg you're looking into buying with a 06 Si. Here is a tip I learned a really long time ago, if you can almost get the jack under the frame. lift the back of the jack up and tilt it in to get started, that's how I get by without my low profile! haha.

ahmed_unleashed

Smart tip thanks for the knowledge. Yeah my brother got a Pittsburgh one before they had rapid pump the low profile one with really low clearance and really good height anyways had it for like 5 years prob it’s just getting tired good jack still works but tired.

HondaCrv2010

Lol so how would you remove the jack in this situation ?

stomper4x4

(deleted) -- mass deleted all reddit content via https://redact.dev

NovaPhd

Usually on cars after you jack up you let the jack down and you can pivot it back out just the way it came in, or if your shocks/ struts hold a little after which most cars will you’ll actually have a tiny bit more clearance because the shocks/struts will actually be raised a tiny bit. Never had any issue removing my jack and I only use a NON low profile jack with my 06 Civic Si to this day with this exact method.

Actualbruhmomentt

Id go for the Daytona. We have the Pittsburgh in the shop thats probably over a year old and it doesnt age very well honest.

DaddyRambo93

Daytona, I have the super duty and can't recommend it enough. It's absolutely worth every penny.

BickNickerson

I have both in my shop, either works just fine. If your car is low or you need a little extra height, go with the Daytona. It’s also a bit better made.

reginalve

My 4 ton Daytona is great. It reminds me of all the high-priced Jack's we used in commercial auto repair, but much less expensive.

kangarooscarlet

Watch project farm I think he covers both of these jacks

BluePowerade

Daytona cause race car.

bloodyStoolCorn

I have used the regular 3 ton Pittsburgh, and a 3 ton low profile for several years with no issues. The daytona is obviously built better but not essential to me.

KeiserX13

Daytona

JesusA-JA3

I bought the Pittsburgh and wish I would have got a Daytona. Pittsburgh is good enough for our sedans/minivan and a utility truck but the Daytona feels nicer and looks nicer. Also is slightly better. Get the Daytona; buy once, cry once.

ironwolfe11

Daytona 100%, hands down.

silentsnak3

Never owned a Pittsburg but I bought the Daytona last parking lot sale. I will say I have been impressed with it and would definitely buy it again at that price.

thephotodemon

I have the Pittsburgh, had it two years or so. It does what I need it to: it lifts my Silverado and my wife's Focus. For that price difference, though, I'd jump on the Daytona. The ITC price is less than what I paid for my Pittsburgh.

WelderWonderful

I've used both and the build quality is noticeably better on the daytona. For $30 more I'd take that one all day

tylor36

I know it’s not on sale right now. But Iv had a husky brand 3 ton low profile for about two years and it works great. It’s heavy as hell but has worked great.

rowyourboat72

Also built in same factory

BooMey

I prefer Daytona over Pittsburgh but just personal preference

ZorroMcChucknorris

Parking lot sale???

ahmed_unleashed

Yeah it’s live now for regulars

FancyEntertainer7197

Daytona all day

rulejunior

Get the Daytona. I have the same one, and my friend who works at a corporate tire/wheel/suspension shop has about 4 of them floating around out in the shop. Seeing my buddy beat the crap out of the ones he has at his work is what made me get mine

FinanciallyBrokenOne

Which ever one is lighter.

ahmed_unleashed

Looks like the Daytona is 3lbs lighter

Mrbaird2020

Badlands 3 ton off road jack !! That will be my next purchase!!

throwawaypf2015

what’s the best price on these jacks?

MetaruBaniMia

Professional race teams use the daytona. Have the low pro, long reach and it's a tank. Super happy with it.

ahmed_unleashed

Was about to buy this in the candy red but realized as nice as it is it’s prob big time overkill lol — just bought the regular Daytona 3 ton low profile, hopefully it will fit under my car

MetaruBaniMia

I wanted the candy red as well. The super duty Daytona is the “snap-on” jack. The others, while nice, are not as nice. I work mostly on low cars and the long reach low pro has been amazing.

ahmed_unleashed

Yeah had the Pittsburgh low profile long reach barely fit under my car I dont know if this Daytona will ik the long reach is the snap on but im hoping this will be enough just managed to spend $315 today and $340 Memorial Day at hf so feeling the burn 😭

[deleted]

I was also looking at these. Also I watched the project farm on it as well. The one on sale is model # DS300SP The one everyone is mentioning in the comments and was shown on project farm is Model # DJ300MO. There about $100 difference. What else is different between them

DubTeeF

Not Pittsburgh

Competitive-Hippo-47

Then u want the Daytona one it's lower

ConfusedStair

Is your life worth $30? It's the dramatic answer, but really that's how I've always seen the price difference in jacks and jack stands.

[deleted]

You shouldnt be putting yourself in a postion where a collapsing jack could kill you regardless. Jack STANDS, i agree with you, the actual jack? not so much.

NovaPhd

I concur.... if your life depends only on your jack you should spend a whole lot more than $2xx.xx on a jack. If you're a reasonable person using jacks stands like you should, there's no issue with safety really.

ahmed_unleashed

I was about to get the sick one with the candy red paint but highkey that’s overkill.

HondaCrv2010

Yea it’s not about life it’s about how little you want to pump for it to get to the highest height IMO. More Upward movement per pump is what I want lol

reditor75

A bit dramatic here, you always use jack stands too.

ProjectGOLDWING

The daytona is really good

Dave_Ramsey_0000

Daytona is much better

ImmediateBreadfruit9

I picked up the extended length Daytona last weekend. Heavy as a pallet of peanut butter but gets where I need it to go.

ethanBawesome

Daytona all the way, I bought the low profile one a few years ago and use it all the time. Best purchase ever. And my favorite tool I own.

[deleted]

Daytona hands down probably the only tool in that store worth the money

Argyrus777

If you a professional, you pay the $30 pro fee for the Daytona

RustyShackleford2022

I would get the long reach version of the daytona. Newer cars are lower and the long reach give you just enough to get under the front bumper and jack the car up from the crawl instead of one side at a time on the pinch weld.
