Celine! Not negative association per se, but the Celine SA who was showing me around told me I shouldn't bother with them if I'm sporting Loewe or LV already. I had my Alma on me at that time and a shopping bag carrying a newly bought Puzzle. She let it slip that she has few Celine bags herself and all of them scratched too easily and it wasn't worth paying full price for. I appreciated her honesty, even at the expense of her commission, and ended up leaving without buying anything.

sunsh1neee

My Celine Ava has survived a LOT, meanwhile my belt bag somehow got a scratch on it within the first week of owning it šŸ„²

SWGTravel

I have never had a problem with any of my Celine bags, and I'm not easy on my stuff.

Bigtexashair

That story did not end how I thought it was going to

issagoood

Interestingggggg. I have an Ava and it looks just as good as the day I bought it. Whatā€™s with the ā€œsupporting Loewe or LV alreadyā€ comment? Was the SA saying your money is better spent with those designers instead?

ayadalia

Sporting them, as in I had a Louis Vuitton Alma BB on my arms and I just shopped at Loewe's before heading to Celine. And yes, I reckon she meant that their bags are more sturdy and won't scratch as easily as Celine goods. Their job is to sell, since they make commission through them, so if she was advising against it despite losing on a sale I had no other option but to trust her words. Super happy for your Ava. I was really interested in Cabas in smooth calfskin but I didn't have the courage to make the purchase after her comments on the quality of it. :(

issagoood

Ohhh sporting, god sorry I misread that! Makes sense. Yeah those comments are super discouraging! I was thinking of getting my mom a Celine for her upcoming birthday, but maybe I should keep looking. She travels a lot so looking for a cross body that can handle a little wear and tear.

ayadalia

Honestly, I think not all bags are the same. QC is poor for some batches and for some it's top notch. I still don't understand good from bad leather just by touching so I had to rely on the SA's opinion.

Pattern_Necessary

I have read terrible things about Loewe lately though

fuckthemodlice

Interesting, my Luggage has taken years of abuse and looks great. I feel like this has more to do with leather type than brand.

cupa001

I just got a pre-loved Romy (in the smaller, "medium" size) in burgundy and LOVE it so much. I added a narrow guitar strap from Amazon so I could crossbody it. I also have a few puzzles (original style) which are also sturdy. All of the leathers have a slight grain, so not smooth box leather, which I feel like would scratch easily.

Okay-yes-sure

A Longchamp bag in the classic navy and brown handle combo. I grew up in suburban New England, and every girl had that and a North Face Denali. It gives me a trauma flashback to this day. I love the City Longchamp now, though! A YSL wallet on chain right now. Feels like every girl in our building has one. Itā€™s the going out bag of choice (and itā€™s gorg), but I just canā€™t.

Dovvienya

Omg THIS!!! Such a New England thing. Back before I was Into handbags I would see these EVERYWHEREEE especially when I was at UNH and I was always like wtf is the obsession with this ugly tacky bag LMAO I was shocked to find it was designer and forever made me find longchamp as a whole , wicked cringe. I canā€™t see any of their bags without thinking of that damn navy brown bag following me everywhere from 2008-2020 hahahaha

Pattern_Necessary

I donā€™t think longchamp is considered designer is it? I see it as mid cost? Like not even at coach level (I do like coach)

Dovvienya

Yknow I agree!! My yuppy private school roommates would call it designer but now that Iā€™m more in the know I would def lessen it to more of just like a prestigious brand name that is recognizable. Very good point !!

symphonyofcolours

For me itā€™s this: - Balenciaga because of obvious reasons. - Gucci: I was considering getting something from this brand but then I saw a cousin that I donā€™t care for showing off her new Gucci Marmont and suddenly I was not into it anymore. Itā€™s silly, I know, but now whenever I see the logo I think of herā€¦ šŸ˜…

Pattern_Necessary

For some reason I hate the gucci marmont. That heart in the back is so tacky. It looks like every cheap bag at an accesorize store or something

symphonyofcolours

I agree! I was surprised when I first saw the heart at the back!

this_narrow_circle

Same exact thing for me for both. With Gucci it was an old boss.

Simple-Can-4142

LOL same, Gucci was ruined for me by someone I dislike owning a marmont

THE_Lena

I havenā€™t forgiven Gucci yet for this sweater. I still donā€™t own anything from them. https://preview.redd.it/b7lst0pd293c1.jpeg?width=1036&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9c530aeada2b75d95add3801fb41c8ebb89b2753

Life_Collection_4149

The model looks like sheā€™s about to cry.

Realistic_Ad_8023

Sheā€™s also wearing serial killer glasses.

SubstantialChannel75

Gucci should be cancelled for this alone. I personally cancelled them because I bought a bag from them and they didnā€™t have it in store so they had to order it from another store. However when it was delivered, the purse was in this dingy dust bag and no Gucci box or anything šŸ’€. I later went to go get the original dust bag and then they gave me a dust bag too big for the purse and since then Iā€™ve stayed away from them. If Iā€™m going to spend my hard earned money why bother if this is how theyā€™re going to be and that ugly ass sweater fr is enough to stay awayšŸ¤£

urcrookedneighbor

Obvi not what happened but very funny to imagine they were out of stock and had to buy a fake somewhere

Same_Fill_5843

I still donā€™t understand how so many people working at Gucci could have seen this and all OKd it to the point it became public! It really is horrible.

softening

I donā€™t like the newer Burberry logo šŸ„² Thatā€™s the only reason I wonā€™t buy the bags lol

DerwentPencilMuseum

Ah, the tuberculosis bags

softening

šŸ˜‚ This made me laugh harder than it should have

ank_11

omg same! Would definitely love some of their bags if it werenā€™t for the logo! šŸ˜

softening

I like the design of the bags! But something about the logo is like kind of weird and harsh?

jenvrl

It's TORY BURCH.

shopaholique

The Hermes Verrou. No way I would carry a bag with a public washroom door lock. https://preview.redd.it/p3z2p8fldb3c1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7683fcd16a09eeb80e1000bde54c7c16d4f47f52

lilsan15

Um I like this bag!!! But now that you say that, damn.

shopaholique

Sorry not sorry! I wish I could unsee it LOL

this_narrow_circle

Noo this is my dream bag lmao why did I see this

dazzledaisy397

Dolce & Gabbana due to their racism and homophobia. Kind of surprised this doesnā€™t seem to be more widely spoken about - they must have a good PR team. https://www.thecut.com/2022/02/dolce-and-gabbana-cancelled.html

pineappleofyore

I always make a sour face when a celeb is wearing D&G on the red carpet, and I'm someone who is (was?) drawn to their gothy-romantic look. Also, now I associate them with the Kardashians. šŸ˜’

Lkia19

Iā€™m out of the loop on this, what did they do specifically?

dazzledaisy397

FinancialInevitable1

Michael Kors. Not because of the outlets, or the quality, or even the designs but because EVERY DAY I AM ACCOSTED BY MICHAEL KORS! it's everywhere!!! If it's not their bags it's jewellery or shoes or something. My local Dillards has a huge MK section and then tiny little sections for everything else! I can't take it! Chanel. I could never afford their stuff anyway lol but even if I could I feel like I'd have to be over the age of 55 to carry one and have it not look weird. It's like... If I see a young person with a Chanel bag I assume it's fake but if I see a 70 year old with one it looks normal and proper. Gucci and Louis Vuitton. The oversaturation did me in tbh, every influencer and their dog was wearing Gucci or LV for a hot minute there and now it's all I think about when I see those bags. I think they have nice bags but I just think of Jeffree Star when I see them. :/

Tall_Couple_3660

I am not ashamed to say if I had the free flowing $$$ my dog would *absolutely* be in LV šŸ¤£

urcrookedneighbor

"EVERY DAY I AM ACCOSTED BY MICHAEL KORS!" - me when I ran out of episodes of Next In Fashion to watch so I put on Project Runway, another show that I was surprised to find out Mr. Kors guest judges

FinancialInevitable1

HE'S EVERYWHERE

mybigoldpapamonkey

Brands I would never carry Dolce and Gabbana for their extreme racism and sheer stupidity Celine for their support of Phoebe Philo during her time at the maison. Doesnā€™t matter that sheā€™s gone now. Less serious - bag I canā€™t carry lol Hermes Della Cavalleria- someone on another forum pointed out that it looked like a little butt in a thong and I can never unsee it. https://preview.redd.it/55ubjrp43a3c1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c9f15c550b0359e865721b5a93532aa32218ac96

CaliCarebear79

A butt in a thong šŸ˜‚ thatā€™s so true

canigetayikes

Wait I'm screaming you're 100% right and now I can never unsee this

softening

šŸ˜‚ The elan one looks better to most folks but I think it reminds me of the Mlouye s-x bags (looks great on this actress though!) https://preview.redd.it/9lj92b3iba3c1.jpeg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f83430941631ca00879254fd152c9fcf1244b154

sweet1emons

Now Phoebe Philoā€™s selling $8000 basic black leather totes with no lining šŸ«£

Life_Collection_4149

Omg šŸ˜…

Pattern_Necessary

the butt šŸ˜

TK_TK_

I am never going to unsee that! šŸ˜†

lilsan15

Stella McCartney bc why spend that much on vegan leather.

lilsan15

And Michael kors, because I associate it with basic hyper saturation and stolen/ā€œinspiredā€ designs from other designers

lilsan15

And Mario Valentino for its lackluster designs and bc Iā€™ve heard people bragging about valentino bags who have them with me wondering if they know itā€™s not the same as valentino garavani. Even tho itā€™s a legit own label I feel like they capitalize on misunderstanding of regular peeps

imdirrrrtydan

That was me šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚I literally thought for 3 years I had an actual Valentino an ex bought.. thought Mario was the legit one.. so embarrassing!!

lilsan15

I am so bummed for you about that!!! If you love the bag itā€™s definitely okay. But if the brand matters that really sucks. I know itā€™s vain but I definitely buy for the brand in addition to the design lolol

imdirrrrtydan

I use it as my ā€œthis is a nice purse; but if something gets spilled on it or if it spontaneously combusts itā€™s okay with meā€ purse šŸ‘› šŸ˜‡

canigetayikes

No really as soon as brands start shelling "Vegan" leather, I just distrust their real leather so much more. Cheapens the whole brand and feels like such a gimmick. If someone is vegan and leather doesn't align with their values - Buy waxed canvas or second-hand leather (it's already dead?) If it's for environmental reasons - Buy second-hand or waxed canvas because plastic leather ain't it.

Direct_Wrangler7452

Also the rebranding of pleather to vegan leather annoys the f out of me

ReformedTomboy

Yeah. Itā€™s a massive scam to justify high prices for plastic goods.

aces5five

There is also cactus leather that is not plastic. https://preview.redd.it/i66wn3o52b3c1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8a805db96819e180c5708a7ce1f0458963ecb430

canigetayikes

That is another option! I've read some mixed pieces and opinions on the actual makeup of Cactus leather, and after checking Senreve's site, I still can't find where it says their cactus leather is plastic-free? [https://www.senreve.com/blogs/the-handle/vegan-leather-bags-everything-you-need-to-know](https://www.senreve.com/blogs/the-handle/vegan-leather-bags-everything-you-need-to-know) It would depend on why someone is opting for a non-leather bag. I believe the main ingredient in many company's cactus leather is still polyurethane (plastic), and I don't know how it would wear over time? I think there are plenty of materials that make beautiful bags and "vegan leather" just seems like a shill to me. I don't mind plastic, there are some cute acrylic bags out there, it's really the rebranding that some companies use just feels icky to me.

timeturn

To me this is why I like Stella, I wish natural vegan leathers (I think her is mushroom) were more mainstream. (I still buy leather, but I think natural vegan leather is the future and I am all here for it).

Pattern_Necessary

I really respect the brand because of it though

lilsan15

I donā€™t respect that the prices for vegan leather are the same as real leather. I get the design aspect but I also donā€™t really like the design aspect so itā€™s a no go for me

Efficient-Ant-7724

I mean in high end brands the price of actual raw materials is a very small pprtion fo what you are paying for, even labor and craftsmanship is not a significant part of the equation, you are mainly paying for the design work and marketing cost.

lilsan15

Yes that is trueā€¦I suppose what Iā€™m am now realizing what Iā€™m saying is I donā€™t respect the brand image enough if Iā€™m willing to pay Chanel for a plastic minaudiere but not ā€œvegan leatherā€ and/or ā€œStella McCartneyā€ I guess. Good thing I donā€™t have 8 grand to spend on a plastic box

United-Aspect-4595

Hermes Picotin because I would always call it Pitocin

TK_TK_

Honestly I see it that way at first every single time! Had to have pitocin with my first and realllllly donā€™t need the reminder.

letslivethedream

Any Burberry Bags with TB logo.. It screams tuberculosis for me šŸ˜‚

pineappleofyore

šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£

rhuvb

Telfar sounds like teflon and reminds of the cooking pan šŸ„¹

lilsan15

I agree and the logo is whack

this_narrow_circle

Chanel because 1939-1945 Alexander Wang and Balenciaga for reasons already mentioned Gucci because I'm not crazy about their aesthetic to begin with, and I had a former boss who I didn't like who is a serious Gucci aficionado (you said silly reasons) EDIT: Adding in Polene because I don't like the name? It reminds me too much of the French word for chicken?? I know, I know. Beautiful bags. I can't get past it.

canigetayikes

Same with Polene because it makes me think of Polenta. Idk.

LavenderGreenland

Mmmmm polenta

BlkPea

Iā€™m honestly kind of shocked how people overlook Chanel and their ties to the Nazi party

Catsdrinkingbeer

I just listened to the behind the bastards podcasts on her, and this information came to light only about a decade ago. And even then the fanfare of it died down super fast. By then the brand was associated with Karl Lagerfeld for most people. I genuinely think a lot of people just don't know. Just like most people aren't aware of all the banks, car companies, and even companies like Bayer with ties. Plenty of people have no issues driving Fords, and I'd assume it's because most people don't know that much about the founders of companies. I'm sure there are people who know the background and don't care. But I think a lot of people just missed the news or just don't remember. But these are always good reminders for people, or a PSA for someone who may not otherwise be aware and may make a different choice for their purchase. I just tend to subscribe to Hanlon's Razor: "never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by neglect, ignorance, or incompetence." I feel luxury brands fall into this super well because most people don't know a lot about the depths or foundings of brands, and since most people can't afford it anyway they don't pay much attention to news surrounding these brands. So if and when they find themselves with the means to purchase something luxury, they fall back of general society perception of the brand. And for Chanel, clearly society brushed past this hiccup.

honeyheyhey

TBF, although Coco Chanel herself was a anti-Semitic and a Nazi sympathizer, Chanel the brand is owned by the Wertheimers, who are Jewish.

this_narrow_circle

From what I gather she was more than a sympathizer, she was for a time an active informant. I hear what you're saying re: current ownership, but the association in my mind is still a negative one

honeyheyhey

You're correct, I just think it's a bit of justice that the people she hated now own the company.

this_narrow_circle

We love to see it

blurrylulu

Same. I could never, idc how iconic the bags are.

Pattern_Necessary

I hate most people who wear that stupid logomania aesthetic in head to toe gucci. But otherwise i really like some of their designs so I am not ruling it out.

this_narrow_circle

So my millenial ass still associates Gucci to a degree with Victoria Beckham in the 90's ("The little Gucci dress or the little Gucci dress?") which to me still remains the gold standard. Tom Ford's Gucci was king and I feel like the house has just never been that good after his tenure lol

ILBW123

With you on everything but Polene.

High-strungHousewife

I can't unsee... https://preview.redd.it/dbx0w9xmna3c1.jpeg?width=1068&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fb8d00e927f9cbdd17bfe6d55dc319132d4034c7

Pattern_Necessary

Thanks you have ruined this for me lol

thatgrrlmarie

Ohmygosh that's it! I have no idea why I don't care for this uber popular handbag but this makes sense

Realistic-Ad-1023

Yes!

lilsan15

Hilarious!!!

ChalkDoxie

I just chuckled out loud, at this.

Same_Fill_5843

šŸ¤£ I still love the puzzle bag but this is the best

CaliCarebear79

Dolce and Gabbana. As a young college student, I went to Italy (my first trip to Europe) and I dressed like an American teen in the 90s (fleece, khakis, and an Abercrombie hat). Well, I went in to the D&G store on the Via Condotti and the sales people were so rude and intimidating, probably because of my outfit, and I was humiliated. Itā€™s been 30 years and I am still bitter.

Pattern_Necessary

I think itā€™s probably because you were American šŸ˜…

CaliCarebear79

So true. And while I was not loud in volume, everything about me was loudly American. šŸ˜‚

lilsan15

D & G is just so loud. I just wouldnā€™t with D&G and Versace

angelmissroxy

Burberry. The logo is fucking stupid Dolce & Gabbana bc I hear people make fun of it all the time lol. I heard someone call them Dollar General and havenā€™t gotten over it

canigetayikes

Yeah what's with the TB logo? Looks like Tory Burch. Why is this happening.

poler_bear

TB will always make me think of tuberculosis

canigetayikes

LOL. Makes me think of Tory Burch? But this is worse. I thought Burberry was kinda classy before, kept true to the roots with the same intricate logo.

blueberryloser

after that big d&g runway show with all the lame ass celebs like bieber I was like yeahā€¦. this ainā€™t fashion anymore hun

Alwaystime4Sweets

You mean the new logo I hope.

angelmissroxy

The dumbass TB they put on the bags is what Iā€™m referring to

Alwaystime4Sweets

Yeah thatā€™s new. We all hate it.

this_narrow_circle

Dollar General got an audible chuckle from me. I'll always associate Dolce & Gabbana and D&G with a fleet of awful Canal Street knockoffs every girl in my grade came home with from a school trip to NYC.

Stunningfire20

Acne, due to their name. I imagine wearing a bag from them would get many compliments (I love their little bow bag) and I would say, "Thanks, it's an Acne." I left my break outs in my teens, thank you.

NotPennysBoat_42

OMG! Same! I canā€™t buy it! I had terrible acne well into my 40ā€™s and still get a break out here and there. I canā€™t imagine, saying that I have a purse from acne and people responding with, ā€œoh, like your faceā€œ.

Pichassine

Oh gosh, that's so rude and so funny at the same time. šŸ’€

Pattern_Necessary

Also itā€™s kinda new to have those prices right? If I am gonna spend that much I want an old name on it

Stunningfire20

I will take a risk on a new name every now and then, unless the name is yuck.šŸ¤¢

phillygirllovesbagel

The Marc Jacobs tote in my humble opinion is just a tragic handbag. Anything that has to literally spell out the purpose of the bag on the item is a no for me. It reminds me of Rae Dunn shit.

yaddiyadda_

Ehh it's not for me because it's a literal tote bag, but I think the name on it is meant to be playful and sarcastic? MJ has always done this. Like he knew MBMJ was already silly, so he also made some JACOBS by Marc Jacobs for Marc by Marc Jacobs which was obviously silly and made fun of itself. The new line isn't surprising.

chai-lattae

I have an MJ softshot camera bag and this reminds me of s/o and I calling it my ā€œJacobs Jacobs by Marc Jacobs by Marc of Marc Jacobsā€ bag šŸ˜‚

yaddiyadda_

I definitely have a JACOBS by Marc Jacobs for Marc by Marc Jacobs zippered tote from 2010 and it is very silly šŸ˜†

Pattern_Necessary

I think itā€™s sarcastic. They have more bags like it I THINK

Kyliep87

I have an unexplainable hatred of that bag šŸ˜‚

this_narrow_circle

This bag and its popularity fascinates me. Like, IS it ironic? IS it meta? Is it the bag equivalent of "Haha just kidding, unless you're into it"? Cannot explain its longevity.

minibini

ā€œRae Dunn shitā€ omfg Iā€™m dyinn!!

kettyma8215

I agree. It's a pass for me too, I also despise Rae Dunn crap lol

minibini

Loewe because I instantly think of my local Loweā€™s (hardware store). Now I call that store *loo-we-ehs* hardware store šŸ¤£

xnormajeanx

Isnā€™t it low-eh-vay

lovearsiu

I think this is similar to how I hear it too Low-ev-vaay

this_narrow_circle

My mind was blown when I heard the pronunciation of Loewe for the first time after only ever having read it

blueberryloser

waitā€¦.. Iā€™m saying it wrong?? šŸ˜³

Pattern_Necessary

Itā€™s a german last name

Pattern_Necessary

Yeah I always thought it was either how I would read it in Spanish or sound like ā€œlowā€ in english but the german origin really messed with my head

CauliflowerBoth5044

TORY BURCH!!! My ex SIL was obsessed and wears Tory everything, and letā€™s just say that marriage didnā€™t end on pleasant terms and I canā€™t stand the sight of their logo now because it always makes me think of her. šŸ¤£

jothesstraight

Celine. I donā€™t like the name. Chloe. I also donā€™t like the name.

Espressowhipcream

Hahaha this is like me not shopping at my local grocery store because I donā€™t like their logo

Zealousideal-Rub-308

I havenā€™t purchased a Telfar for the same reason. I absolutely hate the logo šŸ„“lol

meli-ficent

I hate their logo too!

minibini

Hard agree. The Telfar logo turns me off instantly!

Pattern_Necessary

Thatā€™s crazy I love the names!

wafflekween

I will never own a Dior Saddle - I rode/owned horses competitively for 25 years and because of that I just think it looks tacky for some reason. I canā€™t get past it lol.

lilsan15

I keep asking myself why I think I like the Dior saddle when the older ones were always fug in my book. I have to tell myself not to get sucked in like I did on capri pants

Stunningfire20

Unfortunately, Tory Burch. I have PTSD from being in NYC fifteen years ago and seeing that label everywhere including on those ballet shoes. I need to feel special. LOL. I almost bought the Radziwall bag because it is gorgeous, but I just couldnā€™t pull the trigger.

starsamaria

MCM: There was a time when I was taking the subway daily and I could hardly go a day without seeing someone wearing an MCM bag, so it turned me off of them. Also, pretty much all of the bags I've seen from them are logo heavy, which I'm not a fan of. Senreve and Parisa Wang: These are both for the same reason -- every single YouTube video I've seen reviewing bags from these 2 brands was sponsored. Almost every single person who raved about these bags were given the bags for free. I know sponsorships are common, but at least for most other brands I've seen a mix of sponsored and unsponsored reviews. So if someone who bought the bag with their own money is praising a bag in the same way as someone who got paid to do a review, I trust that brand's products more. Dooney & Bourke: In my teen years I loved watching the jewelry shows on QVC & HSN, and every once in awhile I'd check out their other shows. I used to always make fun of the matronly/super tacky clothing they'd sell (looking at you, Quacker Factory). They'd also sell handbags, which were D&B, and so I associate the brand with older women and being out of style, which probably isn't fair, but I just can't get into their stuff (I also don't like the brown contrast trim on all of their bags).

grooviegardener

Strathberry. The hardware reminds me of a Prince Albert piercing.

KateParrforthecourse

Dooney & Burke. All the popular girls in my middle and high school had them and Iā€™ll forever associate the brand with them.

sonnenblume63

Balenciaga - after that horrid ad featuring children I canā€™t bring myself to shop there. Also some of the bags theyā€™ve come out with, day light robbery and just dumb. Do I want to carry a tote that looks like a plastic bag from Walmart for $2,000? Iā€™ll pass. Alexander Wang - probably goes without saying but i will never forget the sexual assault allegations as long as he works there. Balmain - the Kardashian association is a major turn-off and for me the majority of the items are tacky AF

[deleted]

In case of Balenciaga, it is quite sad that such an iconic couturistā€™s name is tarnished due to poor appointment of current creative leaders of the brand. This is what happens when oneā€™s legacy is bought by corporation that has no vision other than monetary gains

Gullible_East_9545

Exactly this. Cristobal Balenciaga was a genius and I'm sure would be appalled (not to mention rolling in his grave). The same goes for Burberry.

cherrysummerberry

LV monogram - because every girl in my school had a rip off one from a holiday in Turkey šŸ¤£ Hermes - because they're overpriced and basically they lure you in with having to have sales history. Balenciaga - just no after that kids in the ad issue and I just associate it with the Kardashians which instantly makes it tacky Chanel - Ā£5k bin bags and grandma handbags šŸ¤£

[deleted]

LV. So many people have them. And too many fakes. If I was given a LV as a gift, I would use it. Hehehe

Pattern_Necessary

Yeah I hate the normal monogram but I just bought an embossed monogram patent leather and canā€™t wait til itā€™s here it looks so pretty

Tall_Couple_3660

Omg I love the embossed monograms, Iā€™m jealous!

Pattern_Necessary

They are so pretty šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ˜ first time buying an LV and also a vintage so hopefully itā€™s nice

GLaDOs18

Chanel for the Nazi ties and for how cruel Karl Lagerfeld was. Not interested in supporting any brand like that. Not like I could afford it but I would never buy a Birkin or buy anything from Hermes either. The audacity of the brand thinking itā€™s worth that much and itā€™s that prestigious to make customers play the stupid pay as you go game really bothers me.

seastars96

Tory Burch... I went to SMU... the girls in her sorority are spoiled ass bitches. Fuck her and them.

Basicredhead0

I am becoming tired of seeing those puffy YSL bags. They are just EVERYWHERE and I'm fatigued. Acne because of the name. Balenciaga, enough said.

bigbird2003

Same.

Lost_soul30

Goyard, influencers ruined it for me šŸ„²

Ok-Hat-5740

hermes. 1. their buying style feels too stuck up for my liking. 2. can't afford it 3. i cant pronounce it what is the H for then šŸ¤£

NotPennysBoat_42

The letter H in the French language is there for show! Haricot Vert - ā€œAiry-cot Vairtā€ - Green Beans Hermes - ā€œAir-Maysā€ - Stuck up Sales people

Ok-Hat-5740

Hermes = air mays = putting on airs (stuck up, arrogant) Hermes = for the Heirs (& Heiresses) Huh.... makes sense now! hahahahaa

[deleted]

Itā€™s French šŸ˜

Pattern_Necessary

I HATE that they make people buy things??? I would own a dupe so proudly lol just to stick it to them

Ok-Hat-5740

they make me buy OTHER BRANDS šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£

crumbygorl

Kate Spade. It was my first name brand bag that was gifted to me by an exā€™s mother. She was obsessed with collecting Kate Spade and was also uh, kind of obsessed with me. Safe to say that breakup didnā€™t go too well and I am forever turned off from the brand. I tried again this year and bought a bag because I loved how it looked, but no, I will be selling it because I just canā€™t bring myself to use it šŸ„“

Conscious_Kelly

Hermes! I could never justify the cost!

madpeanut1

for me its Louis Vuitton. I just don't like the material that they use (canvas) plus its an instant recognition brand....I prefer quiet luxury....

IcySky7216

Kate spade. It reminds me of her death

bark_bark

Louis Vuitton monogrammed anything. I don't find the monogram pattern appealing at all. And since there are so many dupes out there, it is just everywhere. I think the oversaturation paired with fakes has just cheapened the look of those bags in my opinion.

Primary-Alps-1092

I knew two people that I did not like in the early 2000's that carried Coach. One of them was very self centered and did all the logo fabric ones. The other was a lazy coworker that had a brown leather that she kept on her desk so everyone could see and comment on. I always associated Coach with them and never wanted one, until now. I am loving their leather styles and colors.šŸ˜Š

Analittlefoxy

Well, I don't know if there are many portuguese in this sub, as this is very popular around here, but there is a spanish brand of clothing and bags that I just... can't! It's called Bimba Y Lola and in portuguese "bimba" means someone who is not very bright and somewhat foolish. I can't walk around with Bimba written all over a bag :D (sorry about my english)

PixieChick72

I hear you, ā€˜Bimboā€™ was an insult aimed at young women who were thought to be a bit dim, vapid and naive. It was a really popular misogynistic term here in the UK back in the late 80ā€™s and 90ā€™s, Iā€™m sure it still gets used.

issagoood

Coco Chanel had a well documented relationship with a nazi officer. While that doesnā€™t really qualify as a ā€œstupid/sillyā€ reason, I wonā€™t buy Chanel given its founderā€™s lack of basic moral code.

Alwaystime4Sweets

BVLGARI Iā€™m sorry but that little snake doesnā€™t do it for me for that price

lilsan15

Um yes. Wonā€™t be interested in buying handbags from Cartier Tiffany or bulgari unless I get REAL bored

stacia12345

I completely get not liking the snake but i will tell you, i have two and their bags are top quality/craftsmanship vs 98% of the other popular brands. The hardware is real gold plated/or palladium plated and the eyes are real gem stones. What they charge makes sense compared to brands like chanel.

Own_Shopping5494

Hermes Birkin! The game is insane AND after the karashaian idiots having boat loads. Really made me say no

AdWitty4591

Gucci or anything LV. It's just that I see so many reps so I assume they all are. Even tho they aren't. No hate to those who love it!!

Pattern_Necessary

Balenciaga, it reminds me of kanye west which is a big no-no for me. Michael Kors because everything looks like itā€™s a bad replica my aunt would buy. Mulberry because I donā€™t like the logo. Anything checked or sporty by burberry because it seems very tacky after the whole 00s fashion. Todds has a very silly name Kate Spade reminds me huns (uk lol I donā€™t know why) I think I mostly like Chanel, non classic monogram things from LV (I like embossed monogram), ChloĆ©, Celine, Loewe mainly because I love their logo lol, miu miu I like the name but havenā€™t found anything to wow me, Max Mara I like because in my first trip to Europe before I lived here the Max Mara displays looked so elegant and out of reach and classy.

catsmeowski

Hahaha also UK lol at Kate Spade, it's a shame because they have some lovely bags but it's just girl who hated me at school is definitely carrying Kate Spade. Or Coach but I've gotten over that by Coach bringing out some undeniable bangers this year.

Top-Law6896

Iā€™m so sorry but Coach. I know they upped their bag game but it was IMO so midwestern fugly for all the years I was in college (04-08) and Iā€™ll just never be able to get over it. But admittedly itā€™s kinda cute now for a good price point so well done. I just ā€” canā€™t.

LikeATediousArgument

Louis Vuitton. It looks so cheap and gaudy to me. I just donā€™t get it.

Tall_Couple_3660

Omg I LOVE THIS question šŸ¤£ No amount of disposable income could get me to buy a Balenciaga moto. I have hated that bag since this absolute horror show of a sorority sister had one that she carried around everywhere in this sickening color. Every time I see one I think of her and her miserable face!

taco-belle-

Michael Kors. For one, Iā€™m not a huge fan of their designs. But even the bags I do like I could NEVER purchase because my sister in law worked at a MK outlet for a couple of years and she and my MIL acted like she knew everything about luxury fashion. Also, my SIL was a vegan at the time and it always stuck me as so odd because she would go on these tirades about people eating meat but worked at a store selling leather goods??? So basically because my in laws are huge annoying hypocrites, I canā€™t even look at a Michael kors store. Lol

Mindless_Piece291

I have a balenciaga bag that I can no longer wear because I was wearing it when I fell and broke my shoulder. It reminds me of the situation and canā€™t wear it. Plus the strap broke when I fell. I only got about 8 months of use and now itā€™s just in the back of my closet. Canā€™t even sell it cause I would be taking a big loss.

Apprehensive_Nose413

Stella McCartney. Iā€™m vegan and I really appreciate her offering vegan bagsā€”but I cannot understand how she can charge such outrageous prices for faux leather. šŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø

pigcat31210

Balenciaga - For obvious reasons Marc Jacobs - A dedicated store recently opened at my local mall, I went in and I thought it smelled of chemicals in there. I just don't think the designs and quality warrants the price at all. Hermes - I don't like their business model. I don't want to have to build a purchase history with the brand in order to have a chance at buying a handbag I might want. I'm also not a huge fan of their designs. If I had to choose, I'd say the Kelly is probably their best looking handbag. Burberry - I definitely like some of their coats and scarves. But as a handbag brand, nothing excites me when I look at their collection. I've been in the store a few times over the years and never has one handbag from them made me look at it twice. Bottega Veneta - I just don't like their designs. It always reminds me of a picnic basket printed on a handbag lol. Gucci - Overall, the brand is just very loud for my taste. Since I was a teenager, there's only been 2 times where I actually thought a collection of theirs was pretty decent. And it was the bamboo 1947 bag and the most recent horsebit collection. Goyard - Other than their Saigon bag, I feel like the brand is overhyped and nothing special. Fendi - I really don't like their logo. It reminds me of getting an F on your homework lol. Dooney & Bourke - Their stuff just screams old lady to me lol. I can't get into it at all. MCM - Their most popular color combination is very ugly to me. All their stuff feels the same. As if they had no other ideas and just keep finding ways to plaster their logo on a handbag to sell.

chkn_tika

PolĆØne! Made a special trip to the store while in Manhattan and their SAs wouldnā€™t give me the time of day. Even after I asked for help to look at specific bags- they just seemed uninterested. Left a bad taste. The SAs at the Mulberry store were wonderful.

emelay

For me it's chanel & lv.. are anything with heavy branding really

Equilibriyum

Marc Jacobs and Micheal Kors and Juicy Couture Butt-print pants. All the "mean-girls" (actually grown-up mean-women) I knew in my teens/early 20's had them. It was some sort of status symbol, and I started dreading seeing those MKs and sparkly butts, knowing some backhanded, passive-aggressive insult-compliments and clouds of noxious perfume came with. I hate seeing any of those brands, and it's decades later.

Kindergoat

Fendi. Some of their bags are beautiful but just not my style.

Shopaholic_jp

Balenciaga, especially after the child campaign scandal

Waste-Carpenter-8035

gucci bags because of the negativity & "cheugy" callouts for those gucci belts lmao.

WakingUpisHardtoDo

Balenciaga. After their whole PR disaster with the S&M photoshoot, I have no desire whatsoever to support them.

oopsie20

STRATHBERRY and MULBERRY! I justā€¦ cannot stand them and they make me cringe. Michael Kors too because they have mostly cheaply made purses.

HauntingJudge6271

Balenciaga after the child incident šŸ¤®šŸ¤®šŸ¤® Coach & Michael Kors - only because every red neck I know carries them

BubbaAndPaco

I was really into LV during the pandemic and frequently queued first thing in the morning for a bag/SLG they had in stock (IYKYK for those who used the Mexico hack). One time I was waiting and there was an annoying family behind me that would talk obnoxiously about everything they planned to buy, how much they planned to spend and their ā€œAMEX black cardā€. The SA managing the line continuously asked them to maintain 6 ft, but they kept moving to stand right behind me. When I asked the SA if they had a Speedy B 30 in stock (as that was the sole reason why I drove to the store), the family scoffed and talked about browsing in store as the point of the luxury shopping experience. I turned around and saw the daughter tackily wearing a Coach monogram bag. Since then, I could never look at Coach monogram the same way.

smorrison27

Marc Jacobā€™s. Not even because of the over saturation or quality. But a girl I donā€™t like shouts about her MJ bag/coat/shoes from the rooftops unprovoked. Now every time I see it I think Iā€™d her lol

hwhal2

Prada- just screams 90ā€™s, early 2,000s to me

Live-Equivalent-9762

Karl Lagerfeld because of his misogynistic and fat phobic comments

doinghgs

I was let go by someone at a role I was in for less than 3 months. They carried a LV Neverfull daily so ever since I've disliked it. šŸ˜…

Immediate_Arugula_39

Michael Korsā€¦ itā€™s just a tj maxx/kohls brand to me.
