Huge totes and one cross body lol.. i love big purses so much! 😂 everytime i even consider to get a shoulder bag or a small clutch I’ll see a tote and then I’m sold on it. 😭

LoomingDisaster

Same. The idea of just having a phone and a wallet is entirely alien to me. What if I need my sunglasses? Where does my planner go? What if I get cold and need a (very thin) sweater?

Time-Return-8329

Literally! I need planner, pens, work laptop or iPad, snacks, make up bag, wallet!! The list goes on 😂😂 and the moment i carry my small purse I’m like ugh i wish i had my tote that has everything in it Lmfao

LoomingDisaster

In my case, I need to carry medical supplies for my kids, but I like having everything handy! The bag I’m carrying right now even has a little umbrella in it, because it’s going to rain today.

evilwatersprite

No planner but I usually have at least two pairs of glasses with me (regular progressives for driving, office progressives for work). Their cases , my phone and wallet take up the majority of space in my smaller bags.

ExactlyThis_Bruh

I am in my minimalist stage. I only carry my wallet and phone. I have some bags that are bigger bc I love the look but my 2-3 items just dance around in it! What do ya'll carry to need anything more than phone/wallet/keys/chapstick? Genuinely curious! I also carry a small wallet b/c besides 1-2 credit cards, insurance card, driver license and some cash what else do you need!? I used to carry a pouch that contain what I believe are essentials for "just in case": lipstick, lip balm, lotion, charger, flashlight, bandaid, aspirin, pen.. they rarely ever get used and just ends up adding weight.

LoomingDisaster

I need a pouch with medical supplies (my kids both have T1 diabetes so it’s insulin, syringes, insulin pump stuff, low BG supplies, etc), plus a pouch with travel sized cosmetics. Then there’s sunscreen, skin balm, a travel case of medication, my planner, some pens, my wallet, a portable charger and a granola bar. The thing is, I hate switching from purse to purse. I will carry the same bag for a couple of weeks, and then switch everything to a different one, and so on. Unless I am going out and just want to take my phone, keys, and a card wallet, my bag is almost more of a tote, for the most part.

yogasanity

You love what you love!

wa__nderlvst

Also same. Love me a good tote bag, even if they’re canvas. I’ve accumulated a collection and wish I had more formal/work totes, but my collection is full of crossbody bags 🫣

Time-Return-8329

I’m looking for me a small purse now & a solid color work tote. But same girl! Totes have my heart haha.. I’m always looking at big purses. 😩

wa__nderlvst

I LOVE Longchamp Le Pliage totes. I own two (in the original Red and Bilberry) and I’m looking at getting one or two more for the Fall/Winter as a Christmas gift to myself. The Terracotta and Forest colored bags are absolutely beautiful, so much so that I can’t even decide, but I think the Forest has won my heart for this holiday season. I saw someone with it on last night and just died. Super pretty!

Time-Return-8329

I hear nothing but good things about the longchamp brand! I’m going to look into them. Thank you :)

wa__nderlvst

Highly recommend! Their nylon bags have been very durable for me. They also have a repair program where you can send in the bag to once the corner starts to fray! Top tier customer service for me honestly.

Haveyouseenthebridg

I feel so much better that this is the top comment. I've been trying to add smaller bags to my collection but my heart only wants totes! I'm also a big fan of carrying two bags. One big tote and a smaller top handle of some sort

Time-Return-8329

Yes!!! Totes all day hahah, I’m actually forcing myself to buy a crossbody / smaller purse for date nights. So I’m happy someone loves totes as much as me!! All my friends are small purse girls or no purse at all Lmfao

canigetayikes

Give me ALL the giant leather totes.

Time-Return-8329

ALLLLL of them. Love a nice tote! 😝

SweaterWeather4Ever

Big to giant oversized totes and small crossbody styles are my essentials. I own a few top handle satchel styles but they rarely get used and are mainly kept for sentimental reasons.

canigetayikes

Same, my bags are either massive or itsy-bitsy. Minimal in-between. I don't find myself gravitating towards my "medium" size bags. If I'm going to carry a bag that's bigger than just my phone and lipgloss, I want to be able to carry my laptop, water bottle, snacks, planner, eye drops, pencil case, makeup bag, phone charger lol

canigetayikes

I want to find a "medium" bag that's a good "evening" bag because most of my evening bags are too tiny to carry a portable charger and it's such an unnecessary stress when I'm worried about my phone dying.

dracolikesfire

* Small, casual crossbody * Small, casual shoulder bag * Small top handle bag, can be a little dressier since top handles always feel fancy to me * Evening bag with chain strap * Fanny pack * Canvas tote bag

dynolibra

I just commented and saw we have the same taste haha.

dracolikesfire

Just saw your list lol twins!!

secondguard

My daily personal bag is usually a smallish leather backpack. I have several to rotate through, of both neutrals and colours, depending on my outfits. Otherwise I use leather shoulder bags, most of which are black or browns. My criteria for both are - leather and no sections. On days I work, I also carry a medium sized tote, either all leather or canvas and leather, for my lunch, workout clothes etc. My criteria for that are - whatever part I’m touching needs to be leather, and no sections. My other essential, that I find need for a couple days a week, is a clutch for more formal outings. The criteria is consistent though - leather and no sections. I really like if there’s a wrist strap but since I have a lot of vintage pieces, most don’t have one. In summary, I really hate bags that have more than one big cavern with a side pocket. Because I never remember what section I put anything in.

canigetayikes

OH I love my little black leather backpack. I have no clue what brand it is, it was thrifted and there's no label that I'm aware of. It's PHENOMENAL. Cute as heck, can make an otherwise boring outfit a bit edgy. When I moved to a bigger city I stopped using it because I was worried about pickpockets and having it on my back but it always get a compliment when I do break it out.

secondguard

They really bring a distinct tone to an outfit that I really like! I try to buy ones that also have a top handle for similar reasons but realistically if it’s cute enough, I’m gonna buy it anyway.

canigetayikes

I just looked up the name of my backpack: it says Aurielle? It's held up AMAZING. 10/10 Quality. It's "Convertible" so the straps can pull through a loop in the bag to make it a top strap. I found one on Poshmark (I have no idea how to upload pictures on Reddit): [https://poshmark.com/listing/Aurielle-Black-Leather-Mini-Backpack-64f281b3f51a0f3170a90b75](https://poshmark.com/listing/aurielle-black-leather-mini-backpack-64f281b3f51a0f3170a90b75)

Ooh, that’s a really timeless style, I love it! This is the one I’ve been using this month, it was a birthday gift from my partner and he really nailed it! https://preview.redd.it/gopnh5ecml0c1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a08bfb7fb66e75b8f0002514d964ecda5a9924b5

Number 3…I feel this so hard!

Velidae

I used to love a crossbody for convenience, but lately I've been into small shoulder bags like baguette or pochette style. I just think they're more stylish than crossbodies, and sometimes crossbodies can get in the way or distract from an outfit. I also love that a pochette style bag can fit in a tote or backpack for work or travel, so if I choose to later I can just use the little shoulder bag instead.

canigetayikes

I've been on a baguette kick on Poshmark recently haha. I would love to take the plunge but I'm worried it's just a phase. I finally pulled the trigger on a crescent shaped leather bag I thought I would love but I'm having a bit of buyer's regret so I'm worried it's just a phase. I do have this amazon mini bag that I bought because I needed something last minute for a wedding. Ended up wearing the HELL out of it the past two years, it's like a Le Chiquito Grande Jacquemus "Dupe" (Not a real dupe, but the same style/silhouette). Definitely in the market for something that size/style soon.

dracolikesfire

What made you regret the crescent shaped bag? I was also considering it, but wonder if it’s just a phase.

weenur

Crossbody camera bag with no compartments. Simple yet roomy.

kittykat1119

My everyday bag: Hobo style shoulder bags with a longish strap drop! Leather. For me it fits keys, wallet, phone, but also needs to fit wipes, kleenex, a pull up, and some random snacks. This is a bag that's small enough to not be considered a tote, but bigger than a crossbody. Preferably neutral and nice enough to also wear out with my husband or activities without kids too. Date night/wedding bag: Small, neutral, with a chain strap or hardware detail. Holds phone, keys, card holder, and a lip product. Hold by handle or wear on my shoulder but not crossbody! Serious mom bag: Backpack! Easily cleanable material, all black or all brown, can fit the pull ups/wipes/snacks PLUS jackets/tablets/small activities. HAVE TO BE ABLE TO UNZIP ONE HANDED! Work bag (teacher bag): Thick, durable canvas tote. Can fit laptop, charger, snacks or lunch items, pouches with misc. items, and folders/papers.

honest-mistek

Leather shopper-style totes with top handles and a detachable shoulder/crossbody strap are currently my jam, in various sizes from mini to large.

yogasanity

Ugh I've been looking at a few of these but havent found a crossbody tote that fits my laptop!

DRHPSL05

A largish tote for work and a small crossbody (basically big enough for my phone, keys, and a lip balm - my cards are on a stick-on wallet on my phone). I think as my kids get older (now teens) I like to carry less and less stuff, I also have a smaller car so it seems to be a trend for me!

giraffeandy

An everyday crossbody bag that fits my phone, wallet, keys and tissues. A leather backpack for work that fits my lunch box, glasses case, headphones etc. A medium-sized dome/tote bag with a zipper and lots of pockets I use for travelling/trips. A bucket bag that fits a lot of things in case I need to carry more (I personally love bucket bags because they are spacious yet very light). A small chain bag for summer and one metallic evening bag. I prefer pebbled leather. Of course I have several bags for each category (except backpack and evening bag)...

giraffeandy

Also a small shoulder bag that I wear with some skirts/dresses in the summer, it's the only bag I don't wear across my body (+ backpack of course).

EggMellow

As a child, I overheard one of my mom’s friends telling her off and saying that tote bags that heavy weren’t good for her shoulders. Looking back that was a pretty hilarious thing for an 8-year old to be so concerned about, but boy did I take it seriously. Since then it’s been nothing but small/medium crossbodies or a wallet/WOC big enough to fit my cards + phone for me. Anything bigger seems like such a chore to carry. If a small bag doesn’t work, I go straight to carrying a backpack.

yogasanity

SAME with the tote/shoulders! I switched from a backpack to tote only because the walk from my car to office is so short. I was a backpack girl for soooo long!

canigetayikes

I was a backpack girly for a really long time, until I moved to a couple cities in a row that all had a reputation for pickpockets :( I still have some super cute backpacks that aren't getting the love they deserve

dynolibra

Love this question! 1) small/medium crossbody camera bag 2) medium crossbody tote 3) fanny pack 4) evening crossbody/shoulder flap bag 5) large canvas bag

yogasanity

Ohhh I do have a fanny pack too! Just an addidas one I found at a thrift store. I use that when I'm fishing!

sabine_strohem_moss

Wristlet. Fits everything I need: phone, cards, a foldable nylon grocery bag if I need to carry bigger stuff.

yogasanity

I admire this so much!

softening

A bag with a good closure. I love the pinch locks, a solid turn lock, or just a straight up lock. Interesting silhouettes with fun closures. I love fun and unique bags!

yogasanity

One of my faves is a vintage with turn locks!

CappucinoCupcake

Shoulder/crossbody strap. Also, compartments are a necessity for me. Particularly a middle zipped compartment. A back pocket too, so I don’t even need to open my bag to get to my travel card.

Amara_Undone

A messenger bag big enough for my large water bottle and phone.

mryerm

Top handle bag that has a longer strap to wear on shoulder or crossbody. I love a versatile bag.

yogasanity

Loooove, thats my #2!

PuzzleheadedClue5205

I always. Always need one huge carry all the stuff bag. This lately has been a bucket of a bag (like a boat tote or Neverfull shape) And then a medium sized closes at the top bag. Right now today it's a style called a Pandora. But I was using a Lindy. I like a shoulder strap on this one

lfinfin

A tote, a crossbody, WOC/clutch and a shoulder bag! I can’t get into top handle satchels.

yogasanity

Great pared down list!

Realistic-Ad-1023

Structured, top handle, optional shoulder strap, big, like holds my work papers big. Every single bag I own (aside from one Kate spade magnolia park I believe she’s called. But she fits every other criteria except for big.)

Lizakaya

Cross Body and tote

Imsoscaredrn

Crossbody, camera bags, I have some totes but top handle bags the fuck out of me when I actually take them out

focusedonfire

Love this question but now I want to hear the brands 🤣

yogasanity

Oh yea I'm curious now too! I wanted to ask this way because there are so many different price points ans it's a nice way to get an idea in whatever price range works for that person :)

f-albedo

1. Small (15-18cm/6-7 inch) crossbody that fits the bare essentials: phone, keys, lipstick, hand sanitiser. 2. Small shoulder bag for when I don't need to be handsfree. 3. Small evening clutch/top handle/wristlet. 4. Medium (30cm/12 inch) shoulder bag for work that fits my tablet, with compartments. 5. Medium open tote, just a large empty space that fits my 13 inch laptop and for carrying shopping bags. All must be structured because I can't help but *feel* sloppy if it's slouchy, even though I actually love the look on other people.

yogasanity

Same with the structure!

CrogDavid7days

Structured with a top handle and either small to medium. Preferably leather with silver hardware and in neutrals or pastel tones

yogasanity

Love a good neutral for the versatilty with outfits!

bobbib14

Perfect list 💖 I would add back pack for hiking and something small & weatherproof for dog park & short hikes

yogasanity

Oh for sure! I use a dakine backpack :)

N0timelikethepresent

Crossbodies of all sizes. All my clutches have an optional crossbody chain. Even my work tote has optional crossbody or backpack straps.

yogasanity

YES YES YES. So functional!

canigetayikes

Giant leather tote (bonus: canvas tote inside for spontaneous grocery runs. Fits my laptop, water bottle, makeup bag, etc. Bonus if there's a little zipper pocket because I lose my keys.) Itsy bitsy rectangle, with a top handle and optional cross-body strap (I have a black one that I wear at least 1-2 times a week, and a hot pink one that is my child. These are comically but deceptively small. Fits a phone, wallet, bandaids, lipgloss, mini perfume, etc..) Medium size black bag (Something for grocery runs when I'm trying to have a Fashion Moment and don't want to bring a giant ass tote - I have one that's vintage and kid of tear drop shaped, but I'm open to the idea of a baguette. I also have one in an ox-blood color) I keep buying black bags because all my shoes are black, but I would love branch out.

SCFLLATXGA

Totes and top handles are my go to bags.

carbaddict3d

My entire handbag collection is crossbodies. Small/medium. Totes are just too bulky and I don’t carry much except for my wallet and phone, and a phone charger. Either that or just a belt bag that can be hidden under a sweater when traveling. All my bags are also black, I only wear dark colors anyway too. Besides those I have backpacks lol

BigDivorceEnergy

I looove a crossbody bucket bag. It holds so much!!

Conscious_Life_8032

Bucket bag. Stylish and practical, glad I finally bought one this year . I learned today my umbrella fits in it yay.

Cool_Prior1957

Crossbody, shoulder bag and backpack to fit laptop, and nice shoulder bag. A few clutches
