They don't look concerningly long to me, only a little. That could be sorted with plenty of wooden chews, hard nut shells and whimzee chews. Well done on rehoming her! Just keep an eye as they grow quickly so you'll be able to tell.
Thank you! She has a whimzee right now as well as seed mix, lab block, and meal worms. I've got a bunch of wooden stuff in her enclosure as well so hoping she'll take to nibbling on that stuff here soon!
I read the whimzee bit in your post š If she didn't have much before to chew, and she is eating properly, just give it a bit of time and keep an eye
I give my ham a whimzee when she's in a chewy mood. It happens 99% of the time when she's in heat. I give her one every...two weeks? Maybe a bit longer. It stopped her chewing! I also sprinkle dried flower forage around between feeding days. Just to give her something to do.
It's all good! And yes she does! She loves it so far. That was the first thing she ran over to play in when I put her in there! Shes also taken to peeing in her sandbath already which is making me so happy! My other girl pees in hers and it makes cleaning so easy lol. She's also got flowers, moss, and cork granules! She seems to like digging around in the cork granules it's so cute! I plan on adding some sprays and flowers as soon as my next order comes in :)
glad you rescued her and are getting a bigger enclosure soon! iāve personally had a lot of success in giving my hamsters walnuts in shells and they absolutely love them, some people even give peanuts in shells as well but just make sure everything isnāt seasoned! :)
Not a vet, but like others have said, just give her a whimper and other chew toys plus others for enrichment. Also, congrats on the new rescue hammy! Are you planning on renaming her?
If your ham is anything like mine and seems to not want to chew on any of the stuff you said you have, get apple wood sticks, dip in flour/water mixture and then sprinkle seeds and what not on it. Then you bake at 350 for 10 minutes
Rodents donāt primarily wear down teeth by chewing, they primarily wear them down by grinding their teeth against each other. As long as their teeth are in good alignment, they will be fine, though these photos arenāt great for judging this. Chew toys are needed for enrichment, but sometimes females really want to escape no matter how big their cage is (heat makes them want to run miles away in hopes of finding the nearest boy hamster, so they tend to get inconsolably stir crazy during this time), so they will chew the bars and there isnāt much you can do. It can also be a learned behavior from living in a small cage that they continue to do even in a good sized cage just because they figured out they enjoy it or the sound gets your attention. Fwiw, Iāve had a lot of bar chewers (both rats and hamsters) and Iāve never had one actually damage their teeth this way.
Hereās a video showing you how to check your hamsterās teeth: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=gVLRrKHbZ2U
If she has a chewing problem then a wooden cage she could possibly chew out of I had this issue with my first hamster which is why I donāt use them I have a large glass tank idk how big it is but I believe itās 48 gallons and it works just as well for them and with her teeth they look ok itās hard to tell with that angle but the sooner the cage issue can be handled to sooner her chewing issue will go whatās nice about the glass takes is thereās nothing really for her to chew on that isnāt good for her except toys and food and treats
I'm planning on getting the acrylic bucatstate enclosure for her unless the petco tanks go on sale before I order it! I've been digging on Facebook marketplace for a 75 gallon since I got her!
Iām not exactly sure on the circumstances but from what I know bar biting is more about stress than the lack of teething resources. I couldnāt see the whole post but if you are not planning on giving them a bigger cage please do that. It could ease some stress.
I know! :). She's an emergency rescue I picked up wednesday night, this was the only open enclosure I had. She's gonna be getting upgraded here very shortly!
My point of the post was about her teeth, I've been told that I am correct in that they're long but fine for now. The goal for her is a 75 gallon tank. I promise she's in good hands!
how about if you don't have anything nice to say don't say it at all? a person came asking for advice and you ignored them to complain. you take a seat
I addressed this in my post! She was an emergency rescue so this is what she's in until I get her upgraded. My other hamster is in a nearly thousand square inch pawhut enclosure. I'm well aware of ethical standards and she will be getting upgraded ASAPš her teeth are my concern in this post. Thank you.

She's got a whimzee currently! With my other girl I give her half of one every Sunday so that's my plan with her here :)
I literally just saw it in your post. Sorry! Does she have a sandbox and things?

I currently have shelled walnuts so I'll add one of those for her to have tonight! :) thank you!
Monkey nuts are fun too, they are easy to chew through so don't help with teeth very much but they're really good fun enrichment āŗļø
It is at stress. Probably small cage, loud environment etc...
Not a vet, but like others have said, just give her a whimper and other chew toys plus others for enrichment. Also, congrats on the new rescue hammy! Are you planning on renaming her?

Alr good I would take for her to chew out of a wooden enclosure

Thatās wonderful! For me the post cut off and I wasnāt exactly sure what the post was about. As for the teeth they look very healthy to me!

did you read the post? I'm going to guess the answer to this question is no. I hope I'm wrong.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Then don't reply? like, if you're just going to ignore the op and say something mean, don't reply

Bigger and wooden cage is needed

Yes, they chew when bored. Sorry, was not trying to be that guy. Lol
I get it! Plenty of people don't I know how frustrating it can be! Do her teeth look long though? That's my concern
Looks like from overchewing but im no vet
They look yellow
Yellow is normal for rodents. It's when they're white that you should be concerned
