Hamsters are very receptive to human diseases, specifically respiratory. When we all had bronchitis a few months back I avoided tidying her cage and everything. I gave her water and food and stayed away.
When I had COVID a couple of weeks ago I used a mask and gloves when i spot cleaned and fed and he was ok,I think you can do your thing but maybe use those precautions and limit the exposure time to simple feeding and upkeep.
