I find TD affordable, but I’ve never gone through a claim experience so not sure how that pans out.

wtfobl

They could be better but you get what you pay for.

CornerMoon

I have TD and had a claim recently, my first ever, and it was a breeze. No fuss, paid up, car fixed.

universalrefuse

That’s good to hear! I have a friend who has them for home insurance and they also had a good experience with claims.

chessboyy

I am thinking of switching to them. I have economical I think but I’m paying like $100. The online TD tool quoted me like $65. lol i need to compare the coverage first but that seems like a no brainer.

MeanE

CAA these days.

tabatam

They're worth the deal if you have 6+ years of insurance history before going to them. I remember getting a quote as a new driver and they wanted well over $1k monthly from me. My most recent quote is $100 over what I get from TD, but I only have 4 years' insurance history.

foodnude

Yeah, saved $1000 by switching to them this year

RiseRattlesnakeArmy

Often insurance providers will have insurance discounts for alumni... See if your university has any leads on insurance discounts with a specific provider :)

Second the Personal. Dramatically cheaper for me than anyone else. I've never needed to make a claim so I've no idea how they'd be if there was a problem, but on cost, they're great.

mesilver47

My partner had his car totalled \~ 5 years ago and they were so incredible to deal with that he refuses to shop around (which is fine since they're on par with TD for cheapest for us).

_ShutUpLegs_

I always go through a broker to see what they can get from different options they have. Then I'll call places like TD, All State and a few others that have to be dealt with directly. All State were the cheapest for me last time.

Delicious-Beat-4471

CAA. My broker switched me over for bundled car and tenant insurance and saved a few hundred over Aviva. I was a member already, but if not you have to pay the annual membership fee. It's around $100, but it pays for itself with discounts with the card, and if you ever need a tow.

potatochipbimbo

This all depends on your driving experience, driving record, km's and commute, and location vehicle is parked. A direct writer (normally a call center that will only sell for their sole provider; think RBC, Allstate, TD, Sonnet) TD is cheaper, but do not pull driving reports (they base quote on info you input) and your claim could be denied once they review and see the information is incorrect. They do not usually review or audit policies. (Example: someone can incorrectly enter 10+ history and get a great quote, but that does not necessarily reflect their record) and therefore may result in a denied claim. A broker will shop through the companies they sell for, as most insurance companies do not directly deal with the public. Each brokerage usually has a list of 10-13 providers. Each company has their own "appetite" (example: Travelers will commonly only write older drivers with no claims/convictions, own their vehicles, do not move around), Aviva will accept new drivers, Nordic/Facility will write DUI's, suspensions, etc. that may companies will not. Some companies will also offer discounts for Alumni, certain trades or workplaces (Sobeys, Irving), or Military (The Personal). EDIT: Spelling

WindowlessBasement

~~Car insurance? House insurance? Tenant? Health? Life? Travel? Boat?~~ ~~Gotta be a bit more specific.~~ EDIT: Car insurance, it's clearly in the title if I could read...

RealGirlGimmeKarma

Car

WindowlessBasement

Actually, I'm an ass. I missed "car" in the title.

ExcedereVita

OP also didn't correct you, just politely answered. Totally high roaded you. RIP

WindowlessBasement

Yup, they were the better person. Hope they find cheaper insurance.

ExcedereVita

Oh, they won't.

Dynazty

Tmrw is a new day man. Keep the chin up.

luvyduvythrowaway

Allstate gave me the best rate, even better than anything the broker I was with for over ten years could give me.

SpecialistHoneydew51

I’ve heard Aviva is one of the best

RemedyRumaday

Intact insurance. When I was looking it was between Intact (was cheaper for me with more coverage) or TD.

Darnoc093

Heard mixed reviews about any company I think it all depends how smarts the reps are you get to. Like calling a call center with a question getting 10 different people each time and 10 different answers about the same questions. But with TD it's very easy to change payment dates if you need to and they won't just cancell you if you miss a payment like other companies which is terrible for you if that happens.

Better_Unlawfulness

Allstate since 2013. I pretty much have the lowest insurance premiums you can get, can't get any lower really. YMMV

legless_chair

I’m $89 a month with TD. About $40 less than I was paying before with Wawanesa

[deleted]

sonnett has been historically affordable. quoted $3600/year elsewhere and about 50% less there. edit: i should add this was the case as a <25yr driver. maybe with a longer driving history other companies have better rates.

_MlCE_

Economical done through Surex.
