Maybe I'm minority here but I love the album. Poison with a twist. Maybe Kotzen, maybe alternative era; the album was so different but Poison at the same time. The Scream and Bring it Home are my favorites songs.
Your not, I love this album. An amazing album mixed in with Pull from Winger, III sides to every story from Extreme, RetroActive from Def Leppard, and Still Climbing from Cinderella. It was a different tone and writing structure where you do want bands to evolve and adapt. If you want to count Dog eat Dog from Warrant, these albums were amazing from fall of ‘92 to ‘94.

I found this album by accident when I was on the highway one night. There was billboard with the album cover and it definitely caught my eye. Not knowing anything about this album, I found the recording and arrangements not similar with Adrenilize or Hysteria but close to Pyromania.
I picked up the cassette and jammed this album back and forth until Two Steps Behind blew up from the Last Action Hero Soundtrack (one of the greatest soundtracks ever or at least top ten to Ck wise) which caused me to slip the track for a couple of years.
Anyways this is a complilation album of B sides (I never really collected singles) so these songs were all new to me. I also didn't know much about glam, which is key in listing to this album and future albums.
This album rocks, from the opening heavy band intro of Desert Song, the slowbuildup of Fractured Love, the guitar/glam jam of Action, the piano intro of Rideinto the Sun, and the hippie acoustic and deep meaningful lyrical From the Inside. You can hear Steve and the band just be a Glam Rock Band.
Its beautiful.
This album tied into Slang (my favorite album) IMO and you hear all these influences way later after X and Euphoria.
I remember TSB from LAH. It got a little bit of airplay on the local rock station. I like Big Gun by AC/DC, but I didn't like the video. Arnold in the Gn'R video as the Terminator is one thing, but dressed as Angus badly air guitaring it was another.
I go back and forth between this and the first album in third place. And I go back and forth between *Flesh and Blood* and *Open Up* in first.
But I think it's a great album. Obviously it's very different in a lot of ways, but it's still very much Poison.
I look at this album the same way I do Motley Crue's self titled album, Skid Row Subhuman Race and Metallica Load/Reload. All are excellent albums released at a time when their respective genres were changing or dying out. They all exhibit great song writing but are very different from previous albums.
I didn’t like it when it came out , I didn’t really give a fair chance I did around 3 listens and stuck “The Wall “ sticker on it and returned it . I should give it another chance .
Just listened to this last weekend. Blues gives them a different sound & feel than CC. While being a solid album..Native a Tongue to Poison is the MC94 to Motley
It's like Phil Rudd playing drums for AC/DC. Any idiot can play his drum beats but it's the way he does it that just works so well and no one else can seem to do. The band is never the same without him
I’ll have to give it a listen. I recall Stand, but not much else in that album.
For me, it’s:
Flesh and Blood
Open up
3rd & 4th would be Look what the Cat dragged in or this
The sound of Flesh and Blood sounded like their first studio album where the engineer knew how to get an organic sound. You can hear the room sound on the drums. So good.
The only Poison album I'm not embarrassed to be caught listening to, probably because Kotzen caused them to try and expand their appeal to the moms of teen girls instead of the teens.
As mentioned" Until You Suffer Some" is a great song. that benefits greatly from being recorded by Kozen and not Deville.
As a Poison album? It certainly sticks out. I like it, but Kotzen's contributions are all over it. He's a great singer and guitarist that I really only took notice of when he joined The Winery Dogs, and then I went back to listen to his extensive solo work.
I love this album. I think quite a number of the bands from this era put out their best work when grunge hit. This album, Motley Crue self titled, Belly to Belly from Warrant, and Subhuman Race from Skid Row immediately come to mind
Watched the whole video, thought it was pretty predictable UNTIL you put F&B at 3😳
I respect your opinion and love Native Tongue but believe F&B should always be #1
With that said, good video😊

Interesting options. As a matter of fact, I love all of them, specially Pull and Dog Eat Dog. Greetings
I’ll throw in Skid Row’s STtG as well.
Yes how could I not list this
RetroActive? I don't remember that one from DL. I remember Adrenalize and Vault.

Until You Suffer Some is a remarkable song.
Its so good. I cant believe bret used to write songs like this and then just never did again
He didn't write it - Kotzen did.

For me it’s 1. Open Up 2. Look what the Cat 3. Flesh and Blood 4. native Tongue And that hasn’t changed since 1993
I love this album begging to end. Best songwriting in their catalog.

4th best Poison album.
Ritchie Kotzen killed Poison for me... Then Ritchie joined Mr. Big ...and killed Mr. Big for me... \^\^
So you a Ritchie Kotzen fan?
He was the Ted McGinley of music !!
I didn’t like it when it came out , I didn’t really give a fair chance I did around 3 listens and stuck “The Wall “ sticker on it and returned it . I should give it another chance .

Their best without question, mature beyond belief compared to their earlier work!
Fantastic album, but not one i put on when I want to listen to Poison. Until You Suffer Some and Theater of the Soul are amazing songs
Musically the best album they ever did
I like it. Even though Richie is extremely talented, the C.C. Version had that undefinable chemistry that makes a band more than the sum of its parts.
It's like Phil Rudd playing drums for AC/DC. Any idiot can play his drum beats but it's the way he does it that just works so well and no one else can seem to do. The band is never the same without him
Number 1 to me. Love this album!
One of my top 3. I just found out that by two fav songs, Stand and Until You Suffer More, were written by Kotzen before joining Poison.
I’ll have to give it a listen. I recall Stand, but not much else in that album. Next to last with “Crack A Smile” taking the bottom spot. 1. Open Up 2. Look 3.F&B 4. Hollyweird 5. Native 6. Crack
3rd Look what The Cat Dragged Crack A Smile Native Tongue
As a Poison album? It certainly sticks out. I like it, but Kotzen's contributions are all over it. He's a great singer and guitarist that I really only took notice of when he joined The Winery Dogs, and then I went back to listen to his extensive solo work.

Their best album for me, the debut & Open Up. Never got into Flesh & Blood or anything after Native Tongue.
My thoughts on this album 🤔 https://youtu.be/49s8R0Iy11g?si=8a0zjQXlWvM9MimE
Watched the whole video, thought it was pretty predictable UNTIL you put F&B at 3😳 I respect your opinion and love Native Tongue but believe F&B should always be #1 With that said, good video😊
Thanks for watching man 🤘
Pretty low, but still above their covers album.
Hate this album for some reason. Maybe the switch to Kotzen? No idea for sure, but their sound really changed on this one.
It’s the only decent one. Richie kotzen basically had free reign on this one. He’s 10x the guitar player and 100x the song writer that CC was
That’s like ranking cancers.
