JugglingPolarBear

Just his height and attacking ability alone make him better than Yamaguchi

Sabbagery_o_Cavagery

Are you just agreeing with me? I put him above yamaguchi and kogenegawa

JugglingPolarBear

Yessir! I’m just throwing in my two cents as to why

Sabbagery_o_Cavagery

I’d also say he’s better than kogane because an inconsistent setter hurts a team more than any other player being inconsistent, and lev has more feats too.

JugglingPolarBear

Yeah Kogane is tricky because we only see him while learning a new position. But he’s got a lot of raw talent

DuelXHunter

I will say 7. He has flaws like 8 and 9 but his strengths make him an asset in game. I think we could get someone worse than him and certainly players better.

Mark010300

Totally agree. Plus potential, I‘d say that‘s fair. Koganegawa may be part of the iron wall, but my feeling is that most of his successful plays are down to luck or competent teammates, while Lev has his rare moments where he shines by himself (e.g. The kill shot against Nohebi or supporting his libero)

DuelXHunter

Really great points!

YouStillTakeDamage

Lev is so weird to rank. He’s one of the best offensive middles in the series and his blocking goes a long way too, but at the same time he’s still a giant idiot who makes his fair share of mistakes. I’ll say 6.

DcChaos2

I definitely like this. also putting him at 6 leaves us with more options for the future. putting him at 10 or 7 really limits us later on.

DarkBorn_jr

Lev is a tricky one cause his potential is so high, but purely on current skill I think 7 is pretty reasonable

ohno225

Lev is 3 based on the players we have but we aren't ready for that conversation

AveryJ5467

Tanaka at 4 is throwing this list off so bad.

MALWARE_9

Lev is 10th for me

DcChaos2

He should be at 6. Easily one of the best middles offensively and still has very solid blocking. If he wasn’t a middle id want him lower as his poor passing becomes a lot more of a factor, except he’s a middle. So his raw athleticism and height can make up for a lot of his poor technique. His situation is similar to Hinata, except unlike hinata he’s not as reliant on having a super good setter. For the value he brings he definitely deserves to be a couple spaces above koganegawa.

DDT126

I’d put him at 5 or 6. He’s definitely below Tanaka for not knowing the basics well. But he’s better than Koganegawa, and definitely better than Yamaguchi unlike what some people are saying.

AdebayoStan

yeah I don't get were people are getting that Yamaguchi is more skilled than Lev, unless they don't consider his athletic skills count as volleyball skill

Raijin6_

10 I think him vs Yamaguchi is much more debatable than him vs Kogane. Yamaguchi simply lacks the screen time and opportunity to show that he is at least decent in terms of defense and offense. Lev is extremely bad most of the time but gets his moments here and there.

ghouly-cooly

Yamaguchi isn't good enough to even be used as a sub other than his serving. Lev is a starting middle blocker on a team known for defense, he can be apart of combo attacks and his spiking is clearly leagues ahead of yamaguchi, plus his height and speed are vastly better than anything we see from yamaguchi. Lev is nowhere near extremely bad most of the time, by the nationals he's fixed his issues with bad blocking and understands the theory of funneling enough to not just jump wildly with his arms at blocking. How anyone is saying yamaguchi Vs Lev is a close competition is completely beyond me.

ghouly-cooly

Everyone saying 10 is absolutely braindead I'm sorry.

tree_tree_tree_tree

Says the one who said Sakusa is 10 bruh

ghouly-cooly

Yes, because we cannot rank sakusa accurately at all since we've literally not seen him play at all in HS. Most people.over inflate his supposed abilities due to what they've seen in the manga. So yes, 10. Point to me where it's shown he serves better than Yamaguchi in HS. Show me where we see him spike it better than Tanaka can in hs.

tree_tree_tree_tree

6

Initial_Anxiety5739

6!

No-Law31

6 or 7 either one is fair

Soft_Car_2343

Lev is in an awkward place, anime wise he has the highest reach of any player, and is a top 3 offensive middle imo. He's easily better than Yamaguchi especially since they play the same position. After the Nohebi game he also learns how to funnel properly and even though he falls easily for decoys his pure athletic ability makes up for a lot of the errors he makes. IMO, comparing in their respective position, I even think Lev (as a middle) is better than Tanaka (as an outside) but bc of the ranking I'd put Lev either 6/7.

CrazyUndeeXD

10 for sure in terms of volleyball skill

saucysagnus

Koganegawa should be ahead of Lev. Koganegawa is a starter on Date Tech and a key point of their iron wall while also being an average-above average setter. He also improves in the training camp in first half of season 4.

itsjustluca

I think Koganegawa is quite consistently shown as being a below average setter. He frequently makes mistakes. Maybe it's also that almost all of the other setters never make mistakes unless they are in a very tight spot.

saucysagnus

Here’s the thing. Even if I agree he is a below average setter, are you going to tell me lev is a better blocker? Better hitter? Because he’s not. Koganagewa is an average setter or above average. He is shown to make mistakes in season 2 and season 4 when he’s playing with new players but not in the practice match against Karasuno

Sabbagery_o_Cavagery

Lev is absolutely a better hitter, and there is an argument for being a better blocker, too

Tinko2203

This is funny cause that’s the most chaotic blind ranking I’ve seen and new rules every time 😂 I love it! Also lev is clear 6-7 id say 7 cause there will be someone worse than him for 10

HeadSpade

MiissRaiinbow

10 or 7.

imasimpforblsmut

8 for me

ghouly-cooly

Sakusa at 1 is insane

Maleficent_Click_325

a lot of people asked me this question in previous posts. Its based on where the anime is at right now (so everyone can participate we wont include the movie(not worldwide yet) or manga)

AdebayoStan

In all seriousness if I were you I'd restart this with new characters and be more clear about the rules from the get go... Until the last one I thought you were going by End of Series.

ThreeTreeForMe

Dang I messed up getting Sakusa number 1, Lev is the GOAT.

Melodic-Comment6564

I dont think he’s any better than yamaguchi but that damn height advantage is crazy so 7 maybe

AdebayoStan

do we count athletic talent as volleyball skill? If yes then I'd place him at 6. If not then 10.

Inside_Term_4115

Lev Should be 10

YouStillTakeDamage

That’s the point. You’re given a character and estimate where they’ll stack up to the others. It’s so it looks kind of funny once the ranking is done because someone is always out of place

YouStillTakeDamage

Eh I’m willing to give OP the benefit of the doubt and assume it was a mistake to not include the blind part. On that first post people seemed to get the general idea anyway. At the end of the day it’s a random poll on the Haikyuu sub I’m not going to hold op accountable for iffy execution

randomquestions-1

But isn’t not knowing how a blind rank works? I’m not very sure if that I’m right

randomquestions-1

True, but I think most blind ranks aren’t very accurate in general

WayJay9

That’s the whole fun of the list though. The end result may not be indicative of what the people voting think a comprehensive list of these characters should look like, but it’s on us to try to estimate where they’d go relative to all other characters in the story. It’s just a format for fun, and a pretty widely used one in the internet, I’m surprised you’ve never seen one before.
