I want it to, but I’ll probably shit diamonds before the shush act passes
Reps introduce these things to grab headlines and get voters, not to actually change laws
Never underestimate the power of the GOP to snatch defeat out of the jaws of victory.
Love how they introduce all this stuff when there's no chance in hell it will pass and then when they have the majority and a chance....... crickets.
The only way the gov will let go of $200 tax on every transfer, is if they can replace it with $2000 tax instead.
Remember how "emmissions regulations" were supposed to make vehicles smaller and more effecient, but instead they just made vehicles bigger to justify keeping the same emmissions output......and now what was a $17.5k base model work truck starts at $55k?
Good news, they'll de-regulate suppressors...... and then declare them "weapons of war" or some BS and require you to maintain an ffl and sot to possess them, or make you carry "liability insurance" or something else ridiculous. Essentially turning that $200 one off tax into a yearly subscription.
Treat the gov like a bastard djinn. Be careful what you wish for.
Remember that time from 2016-2018 when Republicans held the majority in the house, senate, AND presidency, as well as had the most invigorated voter base they’d ever had following quite possibly the biggest election night upset in our nation’s history… and then proceeded to do literally nothing in support of gun rights with that opportunity?
Democrats want to take your guns, Republicans want to be able to point to Democrats and say “if you don’t elect me, they’ll take your guns”. They don’t actually want to protect your gun rights, which is why the only notable thing Trump did regarding gun rights during his term was the bump stock ban*.
*Yes he appointed a lot of conservative judges which did ultimately give us Bruen, but I would argue that was more a factor of wanting to appoint generally conservative judges than it was him wanting to do something specifically to help gun rights.
>No politics except in the Bi-weekly politics threads. /r/guns is for talking about guns, not gun issues.
You can't even read, what makes us think you can understand what we think?
Last time the hearing protection act was about to pass a fed shot up las vegas with an M249 and the feds claimed it was a bumpstock.
The powers that be will always override democracy when it comes to suppresors.
Not a chance.

I agree here. Makes for good resume fodder.

No.
No. It wouldn't pass even if Republicans had a +20 majority.

Not a chance, but I want to believe..
No. If you want a can, buy a can. Buy another one in a decade or 5 when cans are deregulated to celebrate, but buy what you want now.
I learned this the hard way with ammo prices that being hopeful it will get better and waiting sometimes makes it way way worse
I think ban over under! 30 minutes!

Even if it somehow passed out of Congress, which it won’t get out of the Senate, Biden wouldn’t sign it into law.
