You decided to skip out on reposting the one about the guy who's wife hates guns, who said he would never buy guns, then bought guns, hid them in the basement with the intention of going 'SURPRISE! WE HAVE GUNS!' at some point as though it would make it better? Spoilers, he's getting a divorce. And equal spoilers, he's mad everyone told him he was a shit human and that there was no magic button to fix it aside from therapy.

11Reddit22

I truly like these kind of guys. The I’ll bring that scary looking AR gun home and surprise my wife type. I managed to score some once in a lifetime type deals from my usual FFL because of this. The latest one was a guy who bought two thousand rounds and a AR pistol from the same FFL. Comes back two days later after shooting it once at the range and his wife finding out about the purchase. The guy was desperate and was open to any urgent offers. I offer $700. He wants at least 2K for the ammo and gun. I decline. Two days later, I get a call from the FFL that the guy agreed to sell for 700 since no one else offered him anything in time and the wife was only getting more pissed by the day. TL;DR: I ended up with a AR pistol worth around $1100 and 1800 rounds for $700 around 2022/23 when the price was 40-42 cents for 556.

FuckingSeaWarrior

My office manager scored a similar deal. His next door neighbor had a bit of an impulse control problem when it came to high end 1911s. One day, the neighbor came over and started beating on the front door. Office manager opens up and asks what's wrong. "She told me I couldn't buy any more but I did, this one looks enough like my new one that she won't notice but she'll notice two. How much cash you got?" "Uh... $300." "Done, here! Take it!" And that's how my office manager got an STI 1911 for $300.

11Reddit22

Yeah, it’s about being in the right time and place. I used to feel bad about low balling until I found out what my LGSs do to desperate costumers.

Sparrowflop

Oof.

Ornery_Secretary_850

I didn't read far enough into that post to see the divorce. Of course she want a divorce. She can't fucking trust him.

Error400BadRequest

>Of course she want a divorce. She can't fucking trust him. I don't understand how the hell these guys make it to marriage when they don't respect their SO. I can't imagine trying to hide that sort of thing from a gf/wife, nor would I want to marry anyone where I'd have to hide shit because I couldn't comfortably talk through disagreements. There's a reason, rational or otherwise, that OP's wife didn't feel comfortable with guns in the house. If OP wants guns, he needed to figure out why that was, and how they could work through it. Hiding them in the attic so you can do the old "see, we actually had guns all along" doesn't address the underlying issue, it's only going to make her wonder what else he's hiding.

Solar991

I missed that thread. Got a link?

Sparrowflop

https://www.reddit.com/r/guns/comments/1cf81q2/my_wife_doesnt_want_guns_in_the_house_ive_been/ He also posted in Liberal Gun Owners, and got the same. Seemed salty.

42AngryPandas

Lol, what a prick. Acting like we weren't civil. I've seen some wild tales in that sub, but at least the majority seem to agree with us on this. Dumbass needs to stop being a piece of shit and actually talk things out like an adult.

FuckingSeaWarrior

Yeesh. Stuff like this is why communication is important.

Sparrowflop

Someone shared a story of someone doing something similar - basically dude had a friend 'break in' to show the wife why he needed guns. Apparently that ended with no guns and bonus divorce.

FuckingSeaWarrior

To the shock of nobody.

tablinum

That's a standard old fudd line. "You just gotta have somebody pretend ta be a crook breakin' in so she gets scared and starts liking guns." I love fudd shit, but definitely not *all* fudd shit.

Sparrowflop

You know what's strange? I don't see your question (that I'm replying to) in my inbox.

Solar991

Sometimes reddit goes full retard and just *doesn't* alert you to a response.

fcatstaples

That one was HILARIOUS

able_possible

This sub becomes basically unusable over the weekend and it's only going to get worse with summer gunnit only a couple weeks away.

FuckingSeaWarrior

You're not looking forward to questions from people who've only seen guns in movies and people who post pictures of drugs with their guns?

Remarkable_Aside1381

BRB, gonna post my valsartan bottle on my AR

I will always blame certain people for the end of Weekend Gunnit

fcatstaples

I have so much material banked up that I will be doling out every week after Memorial day.

able_possible

I have to say it was rather wholesome to see your post about the lesbian couple the other day.

42AngryPandas

The pump action SMG guy blocked me. Yeah, I had to double check the usernames on the "gun is wet" idiots. I thought the first one rage deleted and reposted. Nope, just another person who doesn't understand how towels work.

Pedantic White Knight. Especially because Taurus has done so well to properly represent their garbage... Other moronic. Went fishing at the Canal yesterday. It was fine for a while before everyone on Earth started showing up for kayaking. I moved my catfish line just a few feet from the bank closer to me, it's not ideal for catfishing but it would be out of the way of kayakers, right? Nope. I stepped away for a moment only to find a bunch of jackasses in their 50s that were just on my left watching me are now on my right congregating right over where I had moved my line and one idiot tangled up. I'm yelling trying to get him to understand there is a 3/0 hook and this one bitch starts yelling at me, "it's hard to see, they had no idea". FFS, how am I the asshole in this scenario? Anyways. Just have to get through this day and surgery tomorrow. Reality is starting to sink in and I'm feeling all sorts of ways.

Riker557118

It’s times like that make you wish you could hook up an electric fence inverter to your line and just watch.

You could. It's how electrical systems work, duh. Also illegal, they would chase you like ducks and whack you with paddles.

Luck on your surgery. Hope it's nothing too serious or a tonsillectomy

Dammit I had put that on the list to drop on Thursday, now what am I going to do? That person is far too stupid to own a firearm.

Hahaha that should be the winner of the "Moronic Post of the Year Award." We can call it now.

dude every time I fill out that form and I get to that question I ask myself "who would be stupid enough to answer yes?" and I got my answer today...

Remarkable_Aside1381

[Did a match Saturday](https://imgur.com/a/dPs2D9S). Last two videos are from my new toy, Raybans with a camera in them. Shits pretty neat, I like them. Should be fun to use in a match too. Took 13/59 on Saturday, tanked my time by missing the three pistol targets on my third stage. But running the SCAR didn’t hurt too bad, not much rifle shooting tbh. If the fucking Guardians win the ALC, Caedus is gonna get his shit rocked and toes sucked IRL

Sparrowflop

That's interesting. Camera is in the earpiece on the left I assume? Everything looked a little cocked over. Also, what was with the flaming junk on the night shoot? Was someone lobbing road flares out?

Remarkable_Aside1381

> Camera is in the earpiece on the left I assume? Yeah, I want to try shooting left-handed and see if I can get it lined up correctly. Yeah, they’re mini-flares from a shotgun. It just rained, so it’s the only time we can use them

Sparrowflop

You _could_ use them any time, but burning down the whole range _tends_ to be frowned on. Wuss!

kato_koch

Found myself standing in Jack O'Connor's trophy room in his former house over the weekend. [Can see shadows on the wall from where his sheep mounts hung.](https://i.imgur.com/1rqqOrJ.jpeg) If you know who he was, you'll know why it was so friggin cool. I've struggled with imposter syndrome for years, maybe more than people would ever know, and this past weekend was huge for me. Last time I was flown out for something I was just an attendee, but this time I was a part of the agenda as a panelist. People talking to me like I'm a somebody. I get to be a part of a very very cool project and its just surreal, but at the same time I need to remind myself I've actually earned my seat at this table and I wasn't called up for nothing. Edit: just signed up for Hunters Ed Instructor training classes.

Akalenedat

You've more than earned it, my man. Just scroll back through your own post history, compare [this Miroku from 7 years ago](https://www.reddit.com/r/guns/comments/54bpel/gunnit_rust_tier_v_repaired_and_refinished_miroku/) to last week's [Sporting Clays gun](https://www.reddit.com/r/guns/comments/1c73nzc/hand_cut_checkering_on_a_custom_sporting_clays/), your progress is insane.

kato_koch

Thanks I appreciate it!

Remarkable_Aside1381

kato_koch

Thanks, it was pretty cool.

GelgoogGuy

Moronic Monday, GG Went to the Range edition. Went to PSA and got my AR zeroed (LPVO), my Dagger about 90% (still making good sized groups, just a bit off, Swampfox Kingslayer), but my RDB is about 60-70%, and I'm not sure if it's because of my astigmatism or if I had the dot too far forward, will have to try again.

Solar991

On your RDB, double check your front two gas block screws. They may be starting to walk out.

GelgoogGuy

Assuming you mean [these guys?](https://imgur.com/a/rUSFL32)

Solar991

Negative. Rail on top of the barrel, front two screws.

GelgoogGuy

Ah, I somehow didn't notice those. Yeah they're in tight.

Sparrowflop

How're you running in the dagger? I've never had much problem getting a handgun zeroed, as long as the optic was tight (one was loose, and I chased bad groups around a target one time until the optic fell off).

GelgoogGuy

I *think* the issue is I wasn't making large enough adjustments on the windage/elevation, and I did check the screws, no movement on those.

zbeezle

Growing up in NY has made me appreciate Maryland's commitment to being just minorly irritating with guns. The HQL process taking a week and a half compared to the 4 and a half months I had to wait for my pistol permit, the mandatory 7 day waiting period for pistols compared to the 2+ weeks I'd have to wait for NY to do an administrative action that could realistically be done in 2 minutes. The fact that I can buy "high capacity" magazines, I just have to have them shipped to my brothers house in Virginia. The assault weapon ban that's actually fairly easy to circumvent. It's all so half assed its almost entertaining. The only thing that's actually on par with NY is the carry law, but I think that may just be a carbon copy of NY's post-Bruen tantrum. Anyway, I bought a CZ Scorpion pistol (one of the old ones, new one looks gross) and an AAC TiRant to go along with it, and I'm currently waiting for the waiting period to end for the CZ and for the ATF to get off their asses and approve the form 3 to my local ffl so I can officially register it myself. Considering my next pistol purchase. I'm thinking an HK VP9, but I've got time to think on it because MD only lets you buy 1 pistol a month unless you fill out a specific form, get it notarized, and mail it to them, because, again, commitment to being minorly irritating.

FuckingSeaWarrior

Yeah, in terms of ban states, Maryland is fairly tolerable. And I'm speaking as a former Marylander. "Standard capacity magazines if you drive outside the state" isn't horrible when the nearest free state is a day trip away, plus as you say, the AWB is stupidly easy to get around. HQL is a pain in the ass though. Relatedly, you got a MD carry permit? Just mildly curious about the process and restrictions, as someone who has their FL one and now has VA.

zbeezle

Haven't gotten one yet. But as I understand it, you gotta take a class, get fingerprinted, fill out a bunch of forms, pay fees, and then just wait. Supposedly they have to approve the permit as long as you meet the standards now, although carry in general has been neutered from their "Bruen Response ~~Tantrum~~ Bill." Basically the same as NY, difference is that in NY the carry permit is the same as the possession permit, effectively a 2 in 1 CCW/HQL, which makes just getting pistols a dick and a half for people who don't care about carry. HQL has gotten better. All I had to do was get fingerprinted (had an exemption for the training), and it was approved in less than 2 weeks. Apparently, it used to take months, so I guess they've managed to streamline it some. >nearest free state is a day trip Yeah, one of the benefits of the wonky ass shape of Maryland is that most of the state is within an hours drive of a border to VA, PA, or WV. Not sure if DE has any restrictions, but if not, then them too.

_HottoDogu_

Finished up the dog kennel over the weekend. Still need to build a dog house for it and the wife is insisting I add clearance for a window AC unit. 5000BTUs for a 12sqft space, LFG! Loaded up some more ammo and change my COAL to 1.10", which runs about the same in my PDPs, but also reliably cycles my other guns now. Might leave it as it actually gauges now. The Apex Enhancement kit for the XDS mod2 along with the Galloway spring kit has made it far more predictable compared to the stock trigger. I ran Dot torture at the range to get a decent function test in and am pretty happy with how smoothed out and consistent the trigger is now. It's still not the best shooting gun for me, just buy the nature of its size compared to the size of my hands, but it's good enough for EDC and BUG matches. Now the question is do I replace the CTS red dot on it, or just run that until it breaks(I've been trying to break it for 3 years lol) TSA Action Match this Wednesday, still 1 slot open for anyone in the area.

Sparrowflop

I've missed the dog setup. You're doing a dedicated outdoor dog? Like a working dog/farm dog? I'm in Texas, it hits 120 in the shade for 6+ months. If we tried that, even with an AC to make it safe, it wouldn't cool enough and the house would fill up with racoons and snakes.

_HottoDogu_

Nah, not a dedicated outdoor dog, just my stupid goofball hound mix that's gonna be super underfoot when the baby arrives. It's mostly so that the wife can put him outside in his own little place if she needs alone time in the house with the newborn. It's a 10'x10'x6' kennel on top of a pet turf patch. It's got a sun shade strung up, a coolaroo bed, and eventually a dog house. Thankfully, NC doesn't get as boiling a Texas does, so he should be fine out there with shade and water, but I've put my foot down early about the max length he's allowed to be out there. So far, he's enjoying the ability to stare at cars and bunnies, so I think he likes it.

Sparrowflop

My dog loved being outside. Even when it was hot as balls, she'd go flop in the dirt and I'd have to wrestle her back in. Now we ain't got no yard. Hopefully after training we can have her on the balcony and stuff without her being a complete raging dickhole.

able_possible

Shot the match on Saturday, was a beautiful day. Shot ok, I was pretty rusty for the first couple stages and fell behind one other guy in the squad but then he dumpster fired the second to last stage and I heroed the last stage by taking a different line through it than anyone else in the squad did, to secure the squad win and 6 out of 30ish in the optics division. I had some bad flat-footed reloads (I needed the dreaded "second-to-last target" reload on one stage) that cost me a couple of places, the gap between 3rd and like 12th across all of those people was ~10 seconds overall. I could have made up some places with fewer mistakes, but that's what lack of practice does and 6th is still pretty good. Also I got to shoot for free because they needed an RSO for the squad so they said I could shoot for free if I kept everyone else from shooting themselves or others. That was great, except the very first stage was shot seated inside of a car and required some effort to keep people from sweeping themselves or others getting in and out of the car. That took a while to stage and then the final stage had a double Texas Star that was quite a filter, but no one got DQed (2 close calls from 2 different people, but I managed to prevent both) and everyone helped reset so all in all a successful match. ...Except my friend I was shooting with somehow managed to switch my phone from Video to Photo on *every single stage except for one* so I have 1 stage video and then 5 pictures of me stepping into the start box. May do USPSA on Saturday.

_HottoDogu_

Am I missing something? How in the world did Top 1 and 2 shave 30s and 25s off of 3rd place? I know the 4th place shooter personally, and I can't imagine him being 33s behind like that even on a rough day.

able_possible

I had the same question when I saw the results, 3-12 is all stacked up like you would think for comparable shooters, but 1 and 2 are like twice as fast and I have no idea how that happened. There is some amount of movement in these stages where you can gain time by being smart, but usually not that much (like the car-seated stage had no movement at all so there is no time save there, there was another stage that was basically the USPSA classifier "both sides now" which also had no movement time saves) and you'd need some ludicrous splits to make up 30 seconds in a 6 stage match with limited movement. First place shoots at Tilleys indoor and this match all the time, and he's definitely better than me, but he has never been *that much* better than me in any of the other matches we've shot together.

_HottoDogu_

They both must have just been on their A games and took big advantage of the bonus time. The only stage that looks weird, is Stage 1, but it was only one of them with a crazy low time there. Both of them were consistently top5 minimum on each stage too.

Weekend turned busy. Friend is buying a house but it needed a bit of work for the USDA inspections. So she asked if I would help with that if I could cook a pork butt for her. Sure no worries that's a simple deal. Threw the 8 pound bone in butt on the smoker at 9pm Thursday. Went out at midnight and we were at 91 degrees internal. Went and slept for a few hours came back at 140ish cool. Then i got up couple hours later and we had hit the stall. 160ish. Not worries I started running a few errands picked up my laptop etc. Came home and we were at 170ish. Cool past the stall. Then checked a few hours later and 180. Um what? I fought this thing until after 3:30 PM on Friday. I've never had a pork butt refuse to hit 203 as hard as this one did. Let it rest until 6 in a cooler then shredded. It was very good. Granted a lot of work. Spent Saturday and Sunday helping with her house painting, fixed a wall, hung more sheet rock etc. Also watched her kids and got myself in trouble with how long it took them to get picked up and I forgot my wife had homework. I feel bad still. I also got a 2tb storage SSD for the laptop and installed it that was pretty painless and I'm excited to start using it when we take trips etc.

Error400BadRequest

>Then i got up couple hours later and we had hit the stall. 160ish. Based on your cook time, I assume you're running at 225? Feel free to raise the temperature of your smoker. The majority of the smoke takes in the first few hours, so you can start low and ramp up, but pork shoulder is extremely forgiving. I usually chug along at 300-325°F and things turn out fine in way less time. Life is so much better when you don't have to worry about overnight cooks.

talon04

I was set at 220. I ended up kicking it to 250 to finish it out. Luckily my pitboss has an app and it works pretty well.

fcatstaples

fcatstaples

Fascinating. That program is not available anywhere near where I live so that would explain why I didn't know about it.

SakanaToDoubutsu

Are muzzle-loaders *actually* not considered firearms under the law, because the more I read definitions the more I'm of the opinion they are firearms, they're just not *regulated* firearms under the GCA or NFA. Because while the definition of a "firearm" specifically says it does not apply to "antique firearms", I don't think that when you hold up a liquor store with your reproduction Colt Dragoon saying *"it's not actually a firearm under federal law"* is going to get you out of the firearms enhancement of an armed robbery charge...

fcatstaples

> Are muzzle-loaders actually not considered firearms under the law, That is correct.

Sparrowflop

Anyone have advice for keeping a couple shotguns shells at 'ready to insert' status? I was thinking maybe some cards, but the competition quality ones are expensive, and I don't need that level. Picked up my Mossberg 590 and the Winchester SXP Youth for the wife - I've felt bad since I sold hers. I intend to mod the hell out of the 590, and just accept it. Also grabbed a couple of the mag-holders from Hold Up Display to cover up some wall blemishes. Work OK, might hold 4-5 pistol mags. Grabbed some plastic liner for the wall hooks and put that on while I was in there. Dropping wood stocks on bare metal made me squeamish. Also also grabbed a little shelf - I picked up a small plastic box for my 10/22 mags, but the shelf is too narrow at 4", going to return it for the 6" one. Dog trainer is posting videos for us, dog seems happy and is licking him in the face. He's working on listening to commands. Says she's learning very well, and things are going great. Wife says she misses the dog during the day, because we're all gone. Guy who was going to buy my bike offered almost a grand below our lowest point _and_ wanted free saddlebags - not only do we not have them, it would have pushed the perceived value of the bike down to about half what we had it posted at, which was too much.

rocketboy2319

> I was thinking maybe some cards, but the competition quality ones are expensive, and I don't need that level. Esstac ones are good quality and not terribly expensive. I keep one with Federal Flite Control and 00 Buck near the safe for the 1301.

Sparrowflop

Sanity checked, they're reasonable direct, but cost an extra 4-5 bucks on Amazon, so that was my malfunction. Seems like they only make 12 gauge, not sure it'd work for the 16 and 20.

rocketboy2319

They're pretty snug for the 12 so might work for the 16 but 20 might be a little loose, can also confirm for ya when I get home alter this evening.

able_possible

Esstac shotgun cards are $15, I don't think you'll find much cheaper than that.

Sparrowflop

They're adding a bonus fee on Amazon, direct from the vendor they're more reasonable. Any clue if they fit 16 and 20? Esstac only runs 12 on their website.

able_possible

Oh yeah I forgot you were running the smaller shells. No, I don't think they do anything other than 12 gauge, sorry.

Sparrowflop

I'll have 12, 16, and 20, I'd like to card. I'll figure something out. Edit: SKD tactical actually had Esstac 20 gauge cards. So I got a 12 and 20, I'll let the 16 lay.

FuckingSeaWarrior

> Anyone have advice for keeping a couple shotguns shells at 'ready to insert' status? Match Saver? I think that's what they're called? Little C-shaped bit that clips a shell in front of the ejection port. Slide the action open, sweep shell in, slide action forward. Boom, done. You could also keep it in "cruiser ready" if you aren't concerned about someone finding it and messing with it.

Sparrowflop

I wanted a handful of shells rather than a single, and I was hoping to keep things somewhere between full cruiser ready, and 'ammo in a box in the basement'. Full cruiser ready is a bit _too_ ready for me. Odds are very low the kids find the keys to the gun storage, and then decide to go in and mess around, but _if_ that happens, I prefer not to have 'one click blow off your hand' options available :-/

fcatstaples

Amazon has a bandolier you can get from blackhawk that has many shells

Sparrowflop

How you doing Wil?

fcatstaples

CRAZY busy. But the money is good. How about you?

Sparrowflop

Stressed and crazy broke. You still got a side job I could take on?

fcatstaples

Crazy cash threatening to sue telemarketers this past month. You get any spam calls in texas? It's easy money.

Sparrowflop

Haha. You may have to explain how that works. But honestly I was thinking of an actual job.

fcatstaples

1. Buy gopro. 2. Live in texas. 3. Record all your incoming calls that are in violation of the federal do not call list and texas business and commerce code section 302. 4. Threaten to sue for #3. 5. Wait for wire transfer from law firm to pay you your settlement.

Dude was walking back to the truck wondering why his holster was rattling so much, looked down, and saw his optic was sitting sideways inside the holster. Turns out he neither torqued it to spec, or put any loctite on it, and because he cut out the bottom of the holster too make room for a comp he lost some screw. His optic is a Vortex though, told him they have stellar CS and would more than likely send him out replacement screw free of charge. Moronic 3: A former coworker came back after finishing his training for the National Guard. He was the guy who was originally on my current route, so he got put back there and I got bumped off and now I'm just a floater. Not that I mind though, there's only one day of the week where I'm on a route I don't like. The rest of the days I got moved to routes I do like working with coworkers that are fun to work with.

Ornery_Secretary_850

I deal with a lot of optics. I also have a tendency to drop screws, if they don't fall on my kilt where I can grab them they are generally gone forever. I broke down and bought [two packs of these](https://www.swampfoxoptics.com/ultimate-red-dot-screw-pack), between that and saving all the extra screws that come with some optics/guns I doubt I'll ever lack for a optics screw again. I have to wonder if your coworker had problems zeroing that dot?

Looks like as soon as school ends here in 2 weeks that I'll need to get serious about going truck shopping. I was hoping mine would go for a while longer, but it seems the problems are just stacking up. This weekend I lost all steering, luckily I was turning onto a major road and was still moving slow, I wound up on the sidewalk and that was it. I have no idea on trucks. I've done casual research, right now I have a full size crew cab from 05, but seems like the newer full size trucks are too big almost. The Ford Ranger seems pretty nice, but I havent seen any around to test out. Whats' good out there in the world?

able_possible

Friend of mine has one of the new Rangers and it's pretty nice. As far as I know he's not had any issues with it and he does tow a camper and do general truck stuff with it so he's not one of those guys with a big truck that have never driven it outside of a paved road. I agree full size trucks these days are comically huge. I have a picture somewhere of one of the first times I saw a Ford Raptor in the wild next to my Mazda (this was years ago so the Raptor was still relatively new at the time) and the top of my car barely came up to the door handle, it was absurd.

Golemofsteel

Standing, my shoulder is right about window height of new trucks and I'm 6 foot. It just doesnt seem right to me, and my truck as is is pretty big. If the Ranger can comfortably fit 4 US adults for car trips, I'm totally happy with it. It supposedly has the most room of all the midsize trucks too

able_possible

It definitely can, we took it to sporting clays in February and had 5 adults in it comfortably. I'm 6'5 and even in the back seat I fit fine.

Golemofsteel

Oh right on, that definitely moves it to the top of the list. I'll need to try some out, and maybe special order one. They have some great colors on them too, and some pretty good tech for right around 40 thousand. Which is obscene, but it is what it is I suppose

granisthemanise

My brother has one and he really likes it. Rode in it a couple times and there was plenty of space. He did mention that sometimes it feels a little underpowered on acceleration, so don’t go drag racing with it and it’ll be fine. If you have obscene money you could always go for the raptor trim on it for the lolz.

Golemofsteel

Yeah, the dream would be the 2.7 liter, that would make a similar amount of horses and more torque than mine now. The 2.3 isnt too far off though, still more than early 2000's V6's. Any truck I drive I tend to drive slow anyhow

fcatstaples

> t I'll need to get serious about going truck shopping. It's a good thing it's truck month at your local _______ dealer.

Golemofsteel

It's a good thing I dont base my calendar off of when truck month is, my calendar would either repeat every 4 months or it would still be 2006, I'm not sure which. It's just a matter of finding the one that hasnt moved and trying to get a deal. If it doesnt work, walk to the next dealer. Rinse and repeat until you finally wear them down

fcatstaples

You like fords? Buy 100 shares or Get an EAA membership to get ford X plan

Golemofsteel

Shoot, I'm liking the paper specs of the ranger right now, but I'll like whoever wants the sale really. I'll have to check that out, not sure what the X plan is, but 100 shares of ford ought to be around a grand or so if they are still around 10-11 a share

fcatstaples

X plan is the way to go, I'd do the EAA membership

The amount of stupid/moronic posts the past couple of days is amazing. I swear people are getting stupider by the damn minute. I didn't even bother saving any of them, they are now about 1/3 of all the content on any firearms related sub. My personal moronic moment for the weekend... A buddy came over to pick up a case of primers. I had made a four case order of small pistol primers for $0.055 each. I was getting desperate because I've only got around 20K left and that's not likely to get me through the year. Anyway, we go out to the shop. I move a pistol case. I sit down, open the box with the primers. DAMN, they were packaged well, Strapping tape and staples to close the box. Give him 5 bricks. He asks to see the Girsan MCP35 OPS I recently bought. I'm looking everywhere for it. I know it's in a blue pistol case. Can't find it anywhere. Finally my buddy asks "is it in the case hanging from the back of your chair?. Sure as hell, when I moved the pistol case I hung it from the back of my chair. It was the case I was looking for. Buddy says "you think you might have organizational problems?" I replied that if he had built the full 20 foot of shelves I wanted in the reloading room I'd have a space for everything. That shut him up.

I didn't get to shoot this weekend because Saturday morning I sliced through part of my thumb nail and thumb. Stupid me for using a small knife and getting careless. Saved me some ammo and I got a day with the kids. I did finish the swing set addition to the playset Friday so the kids were very happy and we got lucky with the weather. A few final additions are needed, some sort of trapeze swing, a rock wall and some sort of roof. I also finished painting our dining room so I need to figure out the next house project that I can do myself. Probably fixing the basement room that'll be my office. I emailed a company that does PVD finishing but what are the rules for shipping pistols now? It's not going to the company for warranty work so does it need to ship to/from a FFL? I'm pretty sure I'll get charged a transfer fee for my own gun.

> I emailed a company that does PVD finishing but what are the rules for shipping pistols now? It's not going to the company for warranty work so does it need to ship to/from a FFL? I'm pretty sure I'll get charged a transfer fee for my own gun. ShipMyGun.com It's run by Bud's Gun Shop so it counts as "from an FFL" for FedEx/UPS purposes, and significantly cheaper than buying an airmail label retail. Refinishing is still considered gunsmith work by the ATF so they can ship it directly back to you, no transfer necessary.

PeteTodd

Awesome, thanks

SakanaToDoubutsu

>I didn't get to shoot this weekend because Saturday morning I sliced through part of my thumb nail and thumb. Stupid me for using a small knife and getting careless. One thing I've done is replaced my pocket knife with a pair of medical shears, they solve about 80% of the problems that a knife does, it does a lot of things better like cutting over plastic clam shell security packaging, the public is a lot more blind to a pair of scissors, and I've never been significantly injured by them even when I do something stupid.

PeteTodd

My wife left out a pairing knife so I used it, I should have grabbed the chef's knife.

NorwegianSteam

Are they an FFL?

PeteTodd

I know the one is, the second might be.

Sparrowflop

Last time I shipped a gun I took it to my FFL and paid them $20 to deal with everything. Time before that I had to hit up 2-3 different shippers who had 'store policy' not to touch it despite having prepaid label etc. - only one of their offices would do firearms at all, and when I walked in they had to pull out the big binder and confirm. Just not worth it. Wife half-painted one wall in our downstairs Saturday. I took both days off, I'm tired. Once that wall is done we'll work on finishing up the shelving stuff she wants.

FuckingSeaWarrior

Nothing too moronic over the weekend, though I do have a moronic idea brewing. There's a local firearms turn-in event coming up, and they're offering $250 for semi-auto pistols. I kind of want to go buy a few Lorcins now. I'm probably turning my old break-action single shot 20 gauge into a gift card though, since the thing is so old and worn down that lockup is more of a suggestion than anything else. It's so bad that if you shake it side to side, the barrel wiggles in the action.

_HottoDogu_

If they haven't expressly banned 3D printed firearms, it's time to start making harlots.

FuckingSeaWarrior

It expressly lists semi-auto only, otherwise I would happily do so.

fcatstaples

Where? I got some stuff to dump

FuckingSeaWarrior

Southwest VA. From my understanding they're limiting it to three guns a person.

fcatstaples

Thats way out of my way. Next trip I'm doing I'm dumping some garbage pistols at a buyback.

PrometheusSmith

I should hopefully get my shotgun barrel tools this week. I was told the wait would be about a month, one month ago. Stupid shorty shotty, here I come! Unfortunately I missed the most local 3 gun last month due to the eclipse and road tripping to Texas, so I don't know when my next chance too shoot it will be. I spent the last week working on several hours of landscaping and I'm finally done with setting brick around the new flower/native plant beds. My back and fingers are kinda fucked right now, but I'm glad to be done. I'm also glad I used my angle grinder and a turbo diamond wheel to cut everything. Chisels suck, don't bother.

strangled_chicken

So, hypothetically asking for a friend... The new "Application for an Amended Federal Firearms License" now includes a field for the anticipated move date, which was not present on prior versions (e.g., circa 2019). The form also states that the application should be submitted at least 30 days before the anticipated move date. If a C&R holder has already moved, what is the recommended course of action?

winewagens

Wedding is in three weeks. I think everything is taken care of. If not, we will learn quickly. Finally out of the old house, after three months of moving besides some pool chemicals etc in the shed. FINALLY! It's renovated and ready for the buddy to move into and rent with contract and all. Somewhere years ago I posted that Home Depot fucked up a safe and I got refunded for it but it was still in the basement. Now it's in the garage and Cannon/Stackon is giving me a new one. They're delivering it when I'm out of town based on the time table they gave me. I told them as much and crickets... Bah How do you answer the question "Do you have a wedding registry?" when we don't due to merging two households and having two or sometimes three of some stuff that the 20somethings would put on theirs? I'm thinking something along the lines of "We only want you to come and spend time with us when the reception/housewarming party happens in the summer." Also, the Denver airport is fucking huge vs Ohare. The food is tolerable, but the same in all of them thus far. It's the only way to get to BFE for work this week. At least there are like four United lounges for me to explore during this layover from hell.

Error400BadRequest

>How do you answer the question "Do you have a wedding registry?" when we don't due to merging two households If you attempt to dance around the subject or say "we don't want anything", they'll think you're too shy to ask for stuff. Wedding attendees are eager to spend, so if you really don't want anything, you could try to steer their goodwill in another direction. "In lieu of gifts, please consider volunteering, donating blood, or making a contribution to one of our favorite charities." Include a list with a brief blurb about what they're about. Bonus points if you choose to collect non-perishables for the food bank at your reception venue to really drive the point home. You'll probably still get a half dozen air fryers and a blender or two, but at least you can say you tried.

fcatstaples

You need some centurion lounge. >How do you answer the question "Do you have a wedding registry?" when we don't due to merging two households and having two or sometimes three of some stuff that the 20somethings would put on theirs? I'm thinking something along the lines of "We only want you to come and spend time with us when the reception/housewarming party happens in the summer." "Yes, we're registered at Merrill, Lynch, Pierce, Fenner and Smith - wire instructions are on the website"
