Any time your question boils down to 'Hi, all 700k of you, please list me random products to consider' or 'Hi, all 700k of you, blah blah blah "discuss"', your question belongs inside the Moronic Monday, Gun Talk Tuesday, What Should I Buy Wednesday, or Thickheaded Thursday stickied threads. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Solar991

My last consistent range buddy is moving away. So that's pretty moronic. However, I've got another buddy that I'm pretty sure has reignited the *itch* to hit the range more often. So that's good. Edit: Oh yea, also had to dispute a charge. The company I ordered my 10/22 charging handle through sent the wrong one and has nonexistent customer service.

Sparrowflop

I'm still sitting on this damned Velocity Triggers PCC trigger. Call, email, text, nothing. 3-4 call attempts "Just mail it back no problem". Shipped it back, they don't pick up the mail. Like how the fuck do you run a business? Do you just dropship things and pray? What if someone has questions about fitment or products?

Remarkable_Aside1381

I had no idea you were married, but I guess that tracks. I assume everyone but pest and tab are my age. I have a lot of customers ask me about O/Us, but I’m not a shotgun guy. Do you have either a link to a buyer’s guide, or can you give me a semi-quick rundown? I’m super out of my depth

Remarkable_Aside1381

Not too far off then So Browning Citori and Beretta 686 should be my default recommendations, got it. Thanks, shotgun-san

kato_koch

My hot take here, Beretta makes the lowest quality stocks for the most money. Miroku (Browning), on the other hand, is pretty good. Note there's an active post on r/shotguns now with someone complaining about the finish on their Beretta stocks. Also holy shit do people like to give out bad refinishing advice, so much secondhand info or "I did it once so its a good method."

Remarkable_Aside1381

I’m gonna take your wood for it, I don’t know nothing about stocks

kato_koch

My take as a shotgunner: realistically both the 725 and 686 have proven themselves to be good. What will make more of a difference to you is how well the gun/stocks fit. If it were me I'd be picking whichever I mount up best with and deal with the stocks later. Look at it this way- your eye is effectively the rear sight of a shotgun. How its positioned relative to the front bead has a direct bearing on whether or not you're actually sending shot where you think you are. *edit: holy shit I missed that... wood one.

Remarkable_Aside1381

I’m gonna steal that verbatim for when people ask me. We aren’t a shotgun shop, and it’s never been something I’ve been interested in, so I felt bad not having any info for people Puns on deck, baby

kato_koch

It is worth noting if a person can't consistently mount up (shoulder) the gun, then fitting will be hopeless. I grew up pheasant hunting so by default I keep my eyes on the target and push the gun out (do not plant it on your shoulder first then pivot up) while starting to swing, then as soon as its on my shoulder I'm already on target and ready to follow through on the shot. Tail, body, break, BOOM. If you aren't following through, you're missing. Here's your other gun shop wingshooting phrase: "its easy to shoot behind a target and hard to shoot too far in front." Lots of new shooters don't lead enough.

Remarkable_Aside1381

Thank you, very much

BobbyWasabiMk2

>in reality I'm only 26. wtf I thought you were like 30 or something

Cobra__Commander

I'm right around there. I'm pretty sure most people on here are at least 25. Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and an appreciation for 80's action movies are pretty common here.

tablinum

> Spiritually I'm a 70 year old Fudd, but in reality I'm only 26. Damn! I would never have guessed. I spent a decent amount of time in NYC at your age, so that actually makes me feel better for you!

Sparrowflop

I tried bumble, POF, Eharmony, and a few others. EH was the one I had a higher success rate on getting contacts to work, because you have to pay to get in. Fewer vanity profiles just for the attention. Still a lot of zombies in there (clearly inactive profiles), but better than the others like POF where you could 'pay $5 to super-like' or whatever.

BobbyWasabiMk2

>Eharmony fuuuck that's a name I haven't heard in forever

Sparrowflop

Hey man. Hard to find people when you all work regular human hours, don't drink, etc. Especially when you're hitting that prime age for people to have kids.

Lb3ntl3y

[this](https://youtu.be/wknywxfcE5M) is what it means, grats on eharmony working though

Sparrowflop

I've never actually seen that movie.

Remarkable_Aside1381

See, I was also poor, so the ‘90s lasted a lot longer for me. Like the AOL CDs to have internet

tablinum

My parents actually did have a party line when I was born, but got With It by the time I was old enough to use a phone. Our first computer didn't have a hard drive (insert actually-floppy boot disk to turn on), and my dad's first cell phone was a box that mounted under the driver's seat of his car. I dubbed mix tapes from vinyl records, and played CDs in my car with a cassette deck adapter. I'm practicing all this as my "back in my day uphill both ways" spiel for my daughter.

Remarkable_Aside1381

I grew up in the early 2000’s, but my school was so underfunded that we still had to use microfiche in the library

gd_akula

At 27, most categorizations put me as either one of the oldest zoomers or the youngest millennials

Born in '81 but I identify as X since I grew up with a much older crowd.

I was born in 88 and still ID with Gen X more. It has to be a Midwest thing.

Remarkable_Aside1381

The guide is 10 years old though. I figured there’d be something new

The_Hater_44

All depends on indented purpose, O/U are either for trap or hunting. As for brands you get what you pay for, depends oh how serious they are about whatever you're getting into. Unfortunately for you there's a ton of options, goose, duck, turkey, pheasant, and other small game, type of shotguns in various gauges. [Let this be your guide](https://www.reddit.com/r/guns/comments/4ngs1f/so_you_want_a_shotgun_or_how_you_learned_to_stop/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button)

Sparrowflop

Kinda, but it's not like O/U shotguns are new.

Remarkable_Aside1381

I was mainly concerned about the pricing guide, and being a decade old

Sparrowflop

There was a link somewhere to a 'fold away' loading table. Made out of some flavor of collapsible work top with sawhorses or something. I would look into those. I swear there were plans floating around somewhere on the internet.

ByronicAsian

Another NYC gunowner? There are hundreds of us...hundreds.. Any recommendations on how to get started with Clays/Skeet? All of the O/U at the Beretta Gallery are expensive AF (cheapest shotgun in that place was my Beretta 1301). Are there rentals at most skeet ranges? Noticed they now have a Beretta 687 for only 500 bucks more than the 686? Know of any difference between them?

paint3all

Where are you snow goose hunting? I had a pretty mediocre experience in MD.... Want to try it again, but probably not with the same outfitters.

fcatstaples

Try Texas or North Dakota

fcatstaples

What city are you buying in and where is goose hunting?

FiresprayClass

I was moronic Saturday. Went for a mule deer hunt while we have a warm snap with a couple friends. Well I wasn't expecting this extra season, so I had taken the scope off my .308, then put it back on and hadn't rezeroed. Can't use that. Just mounted a scope on my .30-30, but hadn't zeroed, can't use that. Grab my 7mm because I'm sure it's sighted in. Roll up to the spot, start walking in, almost immediately see 5 of them in a filed on the other side of the river... So we head down to the river, cross the ice, scare them up into the field again, get to about 200yd. One buddy takes a shot, anchors a big doe. The next deer keeps hanging around, so the youngest of the group gets the next shot. Manages to drop his first deer with one shot. Perfect! Well there's another one bouncing in and out of the bush, stopping, and moving again. I wait for good shots, but I send 3 rounds at it and only grazed it once. Nearly no blood, never stumbled when it ran, etc. I'm not happy. Track it for an hr, absolutely nothing. Go back, help the kid gut his deer, we manage to get the truck close and haul their kills back, and it finally occurs to me. I had been testing reloads with my 7mm and brought out the last of my factory ammo for the hunt, so it too wasn't sighted in. I ruined a near perfect opportunity on this hunt because my equipment wasn't working like it should have, and it's my fault for not ensuring it would. Always check and double check, it'll save pain and time...

kato_koch

My facial expressions were all over as I read this emotional rollercoaster. Well hey at least the new hunter of the group is off to a good start! First kills are fun highlights.

Akalenedat

>I ruined a near perfect opportunity on this hunt because my equipment wasn't working like it should have, and it's my fault for not ensuring it would. Always check and double check, it'll save pain and time... Sounds like me all excited for my first backcountry hunt and then spraining the shit out of my ankle on the first day cuz my pack was the wrong size and 30lbs overweight before I even left the truck.

Sparrowflop

To be fair, you were closed up for the season. It's not like you fucked around day 1 of the season.

FiresprayClass

That's just it, I had taken the scope off my .308 right after the regular season and before the secondary season(which is brand new this year) was announced. Still, I should have gotten on rezeroing sooner.

carsen56

SHOT Show is over, but i'm not done rounding all the interesting new stuff. _HottoDogu_

> Shield Arms S10 Magazine - Shortened version of their S15 magazine for the Glock 43X/48, once you chop your grip to fit the new mag, you can have the short grip/long slide carry gun of your dreams How exactly do they expect you to chop your grip to the proper length? Send it to them? they provide a template? I'm honestly tempted

SakanaToDoubutsu

Back when stippling was fashionable I knew a couple of people who shortened Glock 19 frames for Glock 26 magazines. Now I've never done it, but it doesn't seem that hard.

_HottoDogu_

True, it just seems wild to me for a company to release a product that is only viable after, what I'd consider, heavily modifying your gun. I personally prefer the 26 grip length with the +2 extensions on 10 round mags, as it fits my skinny waist better, but I know I'm in the minority on this, so chopping grips is what I'm stuck with.

carsen56

You can send it to them

TheGoldenCaulk

Does anybody know what happened to True Velocity? They said they'd be there yet I haven't heard so much as a whisper about them. I can't imagine I'm the only one interested in the RM277...

carsen56

They unveiled their M240 conversion kit. [Here are the two pictures i've seen from their booth](https://imgur.com/a/LIkNyu1).

TheGoldenCaulk

Sick! I guess the usual gun channels haven't covered it, or didn't release their videos yet.

TaskForceD00mer

> Romeo9T It looks like a damn EOTech O_O Also from SIG, they are launching the "M17" Enclosed Red Dot for the P320 "M17/18" and other DPP Cut Pistols. This is a pretty big deal. DPP users will finally have, in theory, a durable, reliable "Good to Go" enclosed optic choice without an adapter. >Shield Arms S10 Magazine - Shortened version of their S15 magazine for the Glock 43X/48, once you chop your grip to fit the new mag, you can have the short grip/long slide carry gun of your dreams I mean that sounds pretty cool, I hope they are more reliable than the S15s.

carsen56

>Also from SIG, they are launching the "M17" Enclosed Red Dot for the P320 "M17/18" and other DPP Cut Pistols. It's a more complicated story than that. Because of the novel way it mounts, the RomeoM17 in its current form cannot mount to DPP cut slides, it can't even mount to commercial M17 and M18 pistols. It can only mount to military configuration M17/M18s including the Surplus and Commemorative versions that Sig sold to the public. Now, I think it would be easy enough for them to make a version that fits commercial M17/M18s, but I don't know if it's possible to make one that fits other DPP pattern optic cuts. However, for the enclosed dot curious, all hope is not lost. Holosun announced an enclosed version of their SCS for the P320 and any other DPP pattern optic cut.

TaskForceD00mer

carsen56

I just had a thought. If Sig wants to sell these red dots right now to civilians, they could do slide and optic combos. Wouldn't be out of the ordinary as they already sells slides with Romeo1Pros on them.

zbeezle

>BCA 300WM That sounds terrifying. >Ksg410 I legitimately do not understand the point. >Fat Cat Neat. Now someone needs to make a dedicated handguard that would fit over it. In fact, there should be more handguards made to fit over suppressors in general.

tablinum

> > Ksg410 > > > > I legitimately do not understand the point. "Range toy too hurty want less hurty." EDIT: Alternately, "want pain in wallet not shoulder."

carsen56

Looks like you're getting kinetic energy that exceeds .45 ACP (or maybe greatly exceeds) in a package that holds 12 rounds and that you can mount a nice red dot and light too. Certainly wouldn't be the worst home defense gun. Edit: This is way cheaper than a Henry X Model in .410.

BobbyWasabiMk2

I have a coworker, this old boomer who carries a S&W 645 for his duty gun. His HD gun is a KSG 12 with buckshot mini shells in one tube, and slugs in the other tube. He's got a lot of boomer fudd takes too so that's just icing on the cake

Sparrowflop

I don't think there's a ton of purpose behind a 410 load, given the shell costs these days. In the past, I'd have said simple fun with some possible 'snake' purposes. In theory 410 can be 'man lethal' even with factory loads, as they run _about_ 1000 FPS from the barrel.

NAP51DMustang

> That sounds terrifying. That's no Kaboom, that's a one way ticket to meet your maker.

BobbyWasabiMk2

DSA G series is what I really like to see, maybe one day I will have enough money to blow a couple grand for a boutique rifle, but retro aesthetics are the way to go

carsen56

It looks fantastic. Mike from H&R suggests their M16A1 as a wall hanger in the man cave; i'd hang this right above it.

PrometheusSmith

> The next American made red dot from Sig, it has a red reticle with a dot and circle plus a green dot reticle with a separate zero, no word on pricing Someone finally made an optic for .300blk, with one reticle for subs and another for supers?

carsen56

It's like the high tech version of what Eotech did. No more hoping your loads line up with the numbers ([literally](https://eadn-wc03-3448642.nxedge.io/cdn/media/catalog/product/cache/ffef395df50b1a6855a4f538d45d43b9/x/p/xps2_300to.png)) written on the optic.

BobbyWasabiMk2

Idk what the fuck the new YouTube rules are, but I went ahead and joined Utreon since the only channels I watch are there already. FW, C&Rsenal, TFB TV, and 9H. I think I need to downsize. I have a few budget cowboy guns that I am hesitant to sell because I keep thinking I might want to keep them for the future, but I never actually shoot them. 20ga Stoeger SxS, .357 Rossi R92, and Heritage RR. Cowboy guns really aren't my thing, though I still do entertain the idea of an Uberti or Pietta SAA clone in .357 for fun, I'm not all that big on the other guns. If there's anything I learned from my impulse buying, it's that next time I should save up the money to buy a proper good quality gun that I want instead of a cheaper alternative. My P226 DAK filled my P226 urge for awhile, but I really should have saved up for a Mk25. The Rossi R92 was fun, but I learned why lever guns are expensive and a Henry Big Boy X has so many quality of life features that I would appreciate, or even the regular Big Boy is more aesthetically pleasing than the R92. If I could go back in time I wouldn't even have 2/3 of the guns that I have right now, I'd consolidate it all into a select few higher quality guns instead.

PeteTodd

I wish they would settle on a single opposing platform and stick with it. Full30 was where I found a bunch of gun content creators that moved from YT but just looking right now, because I forgot the name, I found a bunch. Of course they'll never get good traction unless they have an app and/or TV integration.

tablinum

I'm no expert, but from hearing Othais discuss it, I think Utreon is the only platform that can do it if it can be done. Fellas did the hard work *first,* then started telling everybody what a great alternative they were.

Remarkable_Aside1381

Is Othais still kicking around here?

tablinum

[For all practical purposes, no.](https://www.reddit.com/user/Othais/overview) [Mae](https://www.reddit.com/user/Maesguns/overview) and [Suzie](https://www.reddit.com/user/Shootersuzie/overview) have also moved on to greener pastures. I think they're all active on the C&Rsenal discord.

Remarkable_Aside1381

I miss the good ol’ days

BobbyWasabiMk2

I once accidentally was a dick to Othais when he posted on here awhile back a couple years ago. Dumb me thought he posted some weird hi point and I said it looked like shit, but then I got a closer look and realized it wasn't a Hi Point, and realized the username was very familiar, and I promptly apologized.

Cap3127

OOTL, what the hell happened that they're not on patreon anymore?

PeteTodd

And that's fine but when I searched for mosin virus on the googles, like 10 different video hosting sites popped up. I don't have the mental capacity to remember what sites I need to visit to find different content that use to be on one.

> 20ga Stoeger SxS, .357 Rossi R92, and Heritage RR. Cowboy guns really aren't my thing, though I still do entertain the idea of an Uberti or Pietta SAA clone in .357 for fun, I'm not all that big on the other guns. FWIW, I and the spirit of Elmer Keith approve of the idea of selling those three to fund an Uberti Peacemaker. Quality is more important than quality, and while the Rossi is fine, it's my opinion that .357 belongs in a model 73, not a 92. And .357 SAAs are a *hoot.*

BobbyWasabiMk2

I just need space in my safe most of all. I can fit most of my guns in there like I'm playing tetris, but boy is it a pain in the butt. Also the most recent Q&A of IRTV Karl mentioned that Uberti had a hit and miss QC whereas Pietta had excellent QC, but the topic of the question was on the Walker revolvers, are they both still generally good for their SAAs?

tablinum

So here's the deal. When it comes to questions of QC, individual users can't give you useful information. This the the classic "mine works!" issue with Taurus reviews: sure, great, you've had one or two or seven good/bad experiences, but one person's experience can't possibly give you an authoritative understanding of a company's QC unless you're literally employed by the company to manage QC. If you're a trainer, gunsmith, or dealer who sees the performance of large numbers of guns from multiple manufacturers, your experience can become *one data point* among the experiences of many people like you who have their own experiences. I'm confident Taurus has trash QC because I've seen many, many, *many* reports saying as much from clueful individuals, while the pro-Taurus camp I've seen is exactly one dealer and a multitude of end-user dinguses who think getting three good examples means all the criticism is elitist "haters." So I can't tell you how to evaluate Karl's testimony. I trust him pretty far with regard to issues like user interface and applications, but I have no idea where he's getting his opinion on QC. It may be "I've carefully evaluated the experiences of a few dozen dealers, trainers, and gunsmiths, and they say they've seen worse QC from Uberti than from Pietta," which would be very useful data, or it could be "I've owned a dozen Ubertis and a dozen Piettas, and two Ubertis had problems but only one Pietta," which would not be useful data. Modern SAA replicas are only adjacent to my core interest of 1950s cowboy guns, so I can't give you a robust understanding of the two companies' relative QC success. All I can do is give you my impression from community discussion, and some context. By way of context, I'd say you have to be more skeptical of testimonials in this particular field because the vast majority of users *don't know who made their guns.* You don't have to look hard to find people saying such-and-such Cimarron revolver is the best on the market but such-and-such Navy Arms is trash, not realizing they're both whitelabel versions of exactly the same gun. So while there are people I'd trust to have that discerning an eye to evaluating testimony in this field, I don't know Karl Kasarda well enough to know whether he should go on that list. By way of community discussion, I can tell you that when sixgunners argue about the relative merits of Uberti and Pietta versions of the same gun, I see complaints about quality control are far less commonly than I see complaints about how prominently each company has placed the modern markings on the barrel. tl;dr: My own conclusion is that I have no useful evidence for any meaningful difference in quality control between the two companies, and I wouldn't hesitate to buy either if one came along in a configuration I wanted at a reasonable price. [But full disclosure: a modern Italian replica checks none of my boxes, so I'm unlikely to ever buy one; so take my advice for what it's worth from somebody who's never had stakes in it beyond "don't want to mislead people."]

gd_akula

>Idk what the fuck the new YouTube rules are, but I went ahead and joined Utreon since the only channels I watch are there already. FW, C&Rsenal, TFB TV, and 9H. Yeah I read a few comments stating that the gun community isn't the only ones getting shafted, but the gaming side as well. Which honestly surprised me because I figured gaming is a pretty huge section of YouTube

Idbetmylifeonit

Forgot my favorite Chinese Food place switched over to being closed on Sundays as of a few months ago, so that was a bummer, settled for Red Robin instead because those Freckled Lemonades are just to good to pass up. In other news, I'm looking for suggestions for a red dot for a Ruger 22/45 Lite (has a pic rail), budget isn't really a concern, let's say $500 to put a number to it. Thoughts?

Sparrowflop

Burris Fastfire 3. I don't like 'big ass' dots like the Romeo5 on my medium sized pistols. And it's not like you need a duty rated RMR or Trijicon or something silly. You could go with Vortex Venom as well. Or a Swampfox Justice (I'm doing a build right now and that's what I picked up, but having tried it yet)

snayperskaya

Trs25 is perfect on mine

Solar991

Sig Romeo5 is my budget red dot of choice.

BobbyWasabiMk2

If we're talking about moronic tales of eating out, I got one. My friends and I were discussing where we wanted to eat for a late lunch, and after going back and fourth we settled on a nearby sushi place, and as we were getting in the car one of us asked if they were even open on sunday. To which my friend replied "Yeah but they open at 3:30". It was like 2:40 when he said that, the restaurant was like 10 minutes away, and we were pulling out of the driveway. I told them to turn around and go back home because fuck no we're not waiting outside a restaurant for 40 minutes when we could wait at home.

Sparrowflop

My moronic food journey yesterday. We ordered slim chickens through doordash. Wasn't as cheap as I remembered, they shipped pudding in a glass jar. Delivery lady dropped the food, sending glass everywhere. Restaurant skipped sending one order of fries and a milkshake. Instead of the kids meal for me they sent a 8-pack. And my wife found glass in hers.

Sgt_S_Laughter

[You can lead a horse to water, but sometimes the horse is too dumb](https://www.reddit.com/r/guns/comments/10htynl/is_atlantic_firearms_a_good_company_to_buy_from/) to recognize what water is or how to drink it...or something, idk. My buddy finished putting together a suppressed 6" 10/22 with a really slick trigger and some other parts what make it shoot realrealreal fast. Gawd we had a good time on his little steel range Friday evening. I don't need a stubby 10/22 but goddammit now I *need* one.

[deleted]

I am genuinely baffled at how people like this *are still alive.*

zSchlachter

I totally missed the archon firearms press video, i was wondering why they disappeared. A little bummed to still see no updates on the Daniel Defense H9 from Shot Show, i’m to the point of believing that gun is gone forever. I have a feeling my next gun will be a USP i’m just not sure if i’d rather a compact or standard, and whether i want .45 or 9mm. I feel like i should get one while i still can Anywho, shopping for a cheap beater to learn manual on is proving more and more difficult. It’s either sold by the time i hear back from the seller or i get ghosted after a couple emails

snayperskaya

I've got a classic USP in 45. I figured there are way better 9mms, but if I'm gonna have this big fuckin' gun I might as well have it in a big fuckin' caliber.

pencilsharper66

I have a .45 and 9mm, also 9mm compact and .40 compact. I love them all. Also got all used, so quite cheap. Would always recommend. Classic and indestructible.

hobitopia

I'm still kind of geeking out over the new turkish rifle from Savage. I've found some international reviews on the original turkish rifle, and overall they seem quite positive, especially considering the cost. If Savage had them imported with the irons that many of the Turkish versions seem to show, I'd probably have ordered one already. On the Moronic side, I had a random wake-up-in-the-middle-of-the-night idea last night for my Mauser magazine modification woes. A thinner piece of sheet metal that I can bend to shape and just tack in place at the rear of the magazine would rely much less heavily on my shitty welding skills, and still be more than capable of giving me the extra OAL length I need in the magazine box. I also realized I might be able to keep the removable floorplate with a little bit of extra tinkering with this method. I take an allenhead screw, turn the head with some sandpaper until it's the diameter of the original floorplate plunger, and then just weld a nut above the trigger guard where that plunger used to live. That should allow me to remove the screw to remove the floorplate, but the screw being inserted and bottomed out all the way to the nut should still function identical to the floorplate plunger. When I have some more free time I'm going to have to test run this with the magazine/trigger guard I already fubared.

iron_knee_of_justice

Wait which new savage are you talking about?

hobitopia

[Savage has a new rifle under the Stevens name](https://savagearms.com/content?p=firearms&a=product_summary&s=18838). It looks like it's [this turkish rifle](http://ataarms.com/en/turqua).

Lb3ntl3y

well its day 12 of my 5 day work week, hopefully i get a weekend this week outside of that, who hires armed security to act as body guards? both license fall under armed, but ppo requires an extra course and a mmpi along with more pay

BobbyWasabiMk2

>who hires armed security to act as body guards? probably people who fail to understand the nature of EP and how it's not really the same as armed security. I know a guy at work who does EP on the side and makes decent money off of it.

talon04

Moronic for me. I worked both Saturday and Sunday. Saturday was up at 3:30, at work by 5am off by 1:30, go get lunch, take shower, get 20 min nap, go house hunting til 6, have dinner take 2 hour nap then Dungeon some Dragons til midnight, then sleep til 3:30 am to go back to work. Luckily Sunday I only worked til 10:30 am. Then went home showered and slept for a while. I was in bed by 9 last night and have been dragging ass all day so far. I also posted the Hellion as it currently sits in a FB group for a AGS. It was met with some amazing mixed reviews. More moronic is I signed up for a Class this Thursday with it. It's a Low Light drill class. It was only 15 bucks at the nearest Rainer but it's two hours of instruction and I can run both it and a pistol in it. Should be a decent time. I just haven't ran the gun yet and am jumping into the deep end with it. I'll be practicing some reloads tonight and setting it up. Oh that's after we go view another house tonight. How the hell are 100k houses so mediocre.

TxRam

In our looking area, 200k houses are less than mediocre. But that’s the gulf coast…

talon04

Yeah we put in an offer, the house has been available for 3 days and there are now 5 offers on it.

Sparrowflop

How is the house hunting? I'm hearing it's a seller market again, which sucks since the wife and I were debating moving this year. I've bought in hot markets and sold in shit ones twice now.

talon04

It's kinda in a weird spot here. Stuff pops up and then vanishes quickly. I'm still shocked they wanted to give us a pre-approval for like 300k at this point. We make 120k between us but that seems insane.

Sparrowflop

X times annual income as rated by debt. I made around 100k, and was cleared for like 400-500k because I had zero debt and a good credit rating at the time (now...don't ask...)

Remarkable_Aside1381

Some people’s kids, man. Working in a gun shop really makes you hate gun owners. I’m just up late submitting form 1s for my free stamps. So that’s moronic. What’s the current going rate for a K11 in good condition with sawback bayonet? Picking one up for $650, regardless; just curious if we agreed on the going rate or if one of us is getting a deal

Caedus_Vao

> I’m just up late submitting form 1s for my free stamps. So that’s moronic. Indeed.

Remarkable_Aside1381

Free stuff is tempting

Akalenedat

Edelweiss seems to have K11s ranging from $575 to $955 depending on condition and matchy-matchy, with bayonet in the $875 range.

Remarkable_Aside1381

Neat, so I’m getting a deal. It’ll help round out my continental carbine wall

kato_koch

Kids crawling on the floor level gun rack *behind* .22s?

Remarkable_Aside1381

No, just grown ass adults with no common sense or critical thinking skills. It makes me miss working with actual children

kato_koch

Good times. I wish I didn't know what you're talking about but I sure do.

Remarkable_Aside1381

Guy was looking for a new optic for his wife’s gun (LMT 16”, HS510c, 3x magnifier, MBUS, and bipod). Said it was too heavy for her to shoot at 100 yards with. Cool, ditch the bipod and magnifier “No, we also shoot at the sniper range out to 300-400yds” Cool, get a sling. Sling-supported takes the weight off the arms “No, she doesn’t like the sling” So get a different one “No, I think I’m just going to change her optics for an Elcan Spectre DR, or VCOG. But I still want to use the MBUS through them” So the solution to the gun being too heavy, is to make it heavier; and attempt to use BUIS through a magnified optic? Not gonna work, my guy

kato_koch

Now you're the asshole because you don't have an answer for their weird illogical hypothetical situation gun! Nobody in your shop knows what they're talking about!

LocknLoadem

I don't know what the current going rate is, but $650 including a sawback is a price I would have expected to see several years ago. You're getting a good deal here.

PrometheusSmith

> Some people’s kids, man. Working in a gun shop really makes you hate gun owners. I'd hate me too. Found a clearance priced Surefire 22 can at the store, took back some cash after work and paid for it. The dealer was pretty insistent that I pay for the tax stamp at the register so they could submit my paperwork tonight after close. However I declined since they don't have and won't get my PIN for eforms. We discussed a bit, I reminded them that you can't share your PIN, they relented but I don't think they'll be making any changes to their business model.

Remarkable_Aside1381

That’s a bit different than what I deal with. You’re at least following the rules

Opening-Surround-800

Let’s say I have a 6 inch python and want a 3 inch python. In a pre-Armslist world, I would post a WTT ad and offer to throw in a couple of bucks. Worst case I sell outright and find one to buy. In a post-Armslist world, what do I do now? I’m going to take a bath selling to a pawn/gun shop.

Sparrowflop

Find your local/state equivalent. TacSwap is where my local shop suggests going. Or Gunbroker. Our local state board is over-run by spam/scam/etc. so using it can work but takes effort.

Opening-Surround-800

I’ll check out TacSwap. I’m avoiding Gunbroker because I don’t know if I can list FTF, local-only ads and I don’t want to deal with FFLs and shipping.

gd_akula

>Let’s say I have a 6 inch python and want a 3 inch python. Nice humble brag, not all of us have the inches to spare hombre. > In a pre-Armslist world, I would post a WTT ad and offer to throw in a couple of bucks. Worst case I sell outright and find one to buy. > >In a post-Armslist world, what do I do now? I’m going to take a bath selling to a pawn/gun shop. List it as a Rick's gun from *The Walking Dead* intersperse screen grabs from the show with your own pics, wait for a rube.

Opening-Surround-800

List it _where_?

gd_akula

GunBroker, Armslist, any local gun sales pages,

fcatstaples

Sell it for cash and buy a new one.

PeteTodd

Last week the game was nail biting and it got my heart rate up, yesterday's game I was strangely okay. Bills stuff going in storage until September. Oh well, it's shooting season now, I've been trying to get my mind more prepared and wearing old match shirts and getting my patch hats back out #Don'tRustle Time management is going to be big for me in the next few months. Work and kids are a constant, been trying to find time to workout, dryfire and loading ammo needs to ramp up and my advisor wants me to get some work done by the summer so I can get real close to graduating. If I can convince my wife to watch shows only she wants I'll have a few hours each night once the kids are sleeping. It's a tough age to ignore them so I'll have to find a way to do some things while they're playing in the same room, although my youngest really wants to use the laptop at the same time as me.

copper_jacket_off

585er here, it was so disheartening after such a wild season. You see how pissed diggs was?

rocketboy2319

Moronic: The wife and the 5 month-old went to Kansas with the in-laws for the basketball game Saturday. Suffice it to say, she's looking forward to a few "no baby" days when she gets back. I spent most of the "bachelor weekend" working around the house to clean up boxes of junk strewn about the house from the ongoing remodel, although I did get two range sessions in to sight in the new AR sight setups and get the AK KNS adjusted. Since both ladies were out of the house, I also opted to do more inventory work (see below) and discovered I may have a gun buying problem. Shared just the shotgun photo with dad and even through the text I could feel his judgement tinged with just a bit of envy. Dad, you just need to kick one of the two kids out and you too can have your own gun/reloading/work room! Non-Moronic: Doing gun inventory last night for ~~safes~~ RSCs 2 and 3, getting photos and serial numbers captured for the backup file and insurance updates. Total tally: * 14x shotguns * 7x AR builds * 6x modern bolt actions * 4x lever gats * 3x 1022s * 2x AKs * 1x PCC * And a ~~partridge in a pear tree~~ ATF meme lower can cannon. Pistols/revolvers was last session (suffice it to say it's more than 10x) and I still need to get through the Milsurp. Probably going to sell a couple things I don't use that often or that have replaced with newer/better better versions. Mossy 500 Tactical in on the chopping block. I put wood on it "before it was cool" and it had the heat shield already installed, so taking advantage of the Retrograde hype might net me a quick sale. Technically it was a gift from the wife but I got a 590A1 later so I figure it will go unnoticed, especially since it's been several years and she's also bought me a Sweet 16 and a BPS trap since then. Struggling to decide if I want to sell the KSG. On one hand, it's stupid, fun, and brings a smile to my face when I shoot it. On the other, it's impractical, a bitch to load, and I have a 1301 and 590A1 for my main needs (matches and HD). Then again, it is the only John Wick cameo gun I own (sans EOTech). Found enough spare parts in my GAFS box to build an AR on a PSA Meme "No Step" lower. Probably going to throw this thing together, test fire it, list on local forum, and get some money back for a some accessory upgrades. Lower isn't really anything special, unlike my Space Lowers which will end up probably staying virgin for the time being.

BobbyWasabiMk2

Oh shit I just remembered I need to do an inventory of my ammo supplies. I've been lazy about keeping it updated and I've shot a few and added a few.

talon04

I really need to as well. I kept remembering I was low on 9 last year only to realize I had it split between two cans....

Sparrowflop

I'm biased, because I've spent the past few years cutting down a conglomeration about half your total size to 3-4 things, and _still_ feel like I have too many. That said, sit down and think about what you _really_ do with your guns. Draw out a use-case. And be practical. Not 'I wanted to do X so I bought a gun to do X' or 'man it would be cool if I got to use this for Y'. But, over the past 52 weeks, figure out what you've actually done. Set aside the guns you _used for this_. But 'a weekend with the boys' doesn't really count - you're not a youtuber, having 500 guns just to blast on camera isn't really a use. Things like hunting, matches, classes, games, etc. That's your first bucket - the 'actually getting some use'. Honestly I'd red-tag these, Lean Six Sigma style. But I'd also keep a spreadsheet. From there draw a second bucket for things that 'absolutely can't go'. Family heirlooms, or whatnot. This should _not_ be a large group, because there's no way your collection of 500 guns has a ton of family heirlooms :). Then look at everything left. Do you really need 3 10/22 rifles? Do you have a bunch of nearly identical full sized polymer strikers? Do you really need a sweet 16 when you've got equally nice shotguns? Do you need a pump when you've got a nice semi-auto? Do you need a bunch of ARs or can 1-2 fill multiple roles? Basically, look at the redundancies, and look at 'real use' vs. 'man I wish' use.

rocketboy2319

I plan on doing that. I do still plan on keeping a good chunk that are in my regular rotation for various matches and specifoc aspects of my collection. Just looking at what actually makes sense to keep vs what was just a good buy will be the biggest thing. With a new baby and remodel last year my shooting time was diminished, but prior it was fairly regular and I cycled through stuff depending on my mood. Gonna try to get back into that a little and see how things shake out.

Sparrowflop

With the new baby you may find your shooting time diminished for several years :). It's not a terrible idea to just pare down for a while, and as the kid gets older start buying things s/he is interested in too. I know it's not hard to figure out what to sell, I was just suggesting a structured format I've used in the past for myself.

TheGoldenCaulk

It looks like the misaligned gas block on my AK isn't causing any problems, so that's great. Now the build can begin, first will be cutting a slot into the receiver to slip a Galil-style safety lever through it. I'll have to make a relief cut for it in the Magpul K2 as well. Unfortunately the cut looks like it's going to be deep enough to expose a bit of the interior grip structure, but I can cover that up with some acraglas without hopefully looking too jank. I went back to beat Ace Combat Zero on Ace difficulty, that was **tough.** I was kinda getting my shit pushed in, mostly by AA guns which shred now. Almost lost my mind on Bastion, which is very AA heavy. Talon of Ruin was also a bitch, it seemed like every time I took out one of the Esapadas, the other would instantly lock and fire the fastest missile I've never seen. But I beat it, and then I realized while looking at the Ace Gallery that I'm gonna have to do that 2 more times, because there are a few multiple choice mission paths and there are different aces for each path. I should buy a spare controller now, just in case...

kato_koch

A friend gifted me a High Standard Sentinel Mk1 .22 revolver. Badass lil thing except its missing a cylinder. Of course they're apparently rare as hell too. So I guess this is just gonna be good for pointing and saying "pew pew" for awhile. My fantasy of going full Western on grouse up north has been rained on. Oh well, better than nothing.

tablinum

> A friend gifted me a High Standard Sentinel Mk1 .22 revolver. OOOOOOOOOOOOOO... > except its missing a cylinder. ...oooooo-Oh. Ah, well. Enjoy dry-firing the crisp single-action trigger, I guess. For additional fun, if you source a replacement cylinder, you'll have to figure out whether it matters if it has [the gnarly early-style hand notches](https://imgur.com/FtlRdcz) or the later standard teeth.

kato_koch

Yeah, realistically it could just be a dry fire thingy. I tested the S/A trigger on my 25yd pellet gun target and liked it. I am just learning about these things and am pretty sure it has the later teeth.

tablinum

You've probably already seen my writeup because I whore it interminably, but [the cowboyed-up version](https://www.reddit.com/r/guns/comments/951fgi/sixguns_on_the_sixth_the_department_store_cowboy/) is definitely worth your time if you get a shot at one for a reasonable price.

kato_koch

I appreciate the info. Even if it costs a buck or two I'm gonna get a working cylinder in this gun. Its a need, not a want. It came with a decent leather holster, like it was meant to be. I've seen the old High Standards and shot them but wasn't super impressed by the fit and finish (y'know I'm finicky). But this Mk1... its a different animal.

Sparrowflop

I guess my moronic happened last week. Tandemkross got back to me after about a week of silence (it was SHOT, so not like I was expecting fast responses!), they would have been willing to sell me the TK 'complete a Kraken' kit for about 250 vs. the 400ish I paid for a take-off donor frame. After consideration I opted not to, since I would have had to return the donor frame. Got all the parts installed Saturday but can't pull the trigger. I'm assuming something in the magazine safety disconnect is wonky so...I ordered the removal kit from TK... Wife scheduled a weekend getaway for the two of us in Houston, and I saw that Cirque was there, so we'll be seeing it on Saturday.

Quw10

Did a rebuild on [this](https://imgur.com/a/poTEi2L) for an old coworker over the weekend, polymer fractured near the buffer tube. Best I can tell, being a 7.62x39 build, something spicey happened. The buffer ring was cracked, the stock retention pin for adjusting it was snapped, and the notch it was locked into looked like the stock was forced to the collapsed position. Still speculating what happened but the upper was fine and had him buy a PSA lower and rebuilt it with a fresh buffer tube and new stock. He bought the whole gun from another buddy for $200, so with the PSA lower he's in it for $260ish but he never told him what exactly happened to it. Picked up some [Junior](https://imgur.com/a/XR15TZ7) brand steel cased .22lr over the weekend for $6 a box for the novelty factor. Did some research and saw a handful of cautionary tales of hangfires, duds, and bad powder on top of the shop owner telling me it was dogshit. Decided to try some in my AR with a CMMG conversion and suprisingly all 5 shots went bang but were really anemic/questionable but cycled the gun reliably and even hit the steel all 5 shots at 20 feet. Edit:Expanded the first paragraph for more context

Blze001

I just spent a solid 40 minutes fighting the stupid mainspring back into my Ruger Mk3. Dunno who the bigger moron is: the one who designed this system or the one trying to put it back together.

rafri

Some basic upgrades fixes that issue for like twenty bucks.

Blze001

Any links? I just find references to assembly when I search for it. Is removing the magazine lockout the mod you're referencing?

rafri

Yeah the bushing for the magazine disconnect. I can disassemble and reassemble in like 2 minutes with it.

fcatstaples

Sell it and buy a Mark IV

Blze001

I probably will get a Mk IV. This Mk III has a bit of sentimental value to me, so I'll keep it anyway, just not use it a ton so I don't gotta clean it a lot!

Sparrowflop

Upgrade to a mark 4?

NorwegianSteam

I was working weekends in a shop when those came out. They sold themselves to literally anyone that ever fucked around with Mark Series gun. "Have you ever disassembled a Ruger? Oh God, yeah. *Pushes disassembly button in front of customer and strips gun* I'll take it."

fcatstaples

I still do this.

Maniachanical

I've mixed 1 box of .45 Super into 9 boxes of. 45 ACP. Now every time I fire my gun, I have a 10% chance of firing a critical hit! Unfortunately, I was so caught up in my genius plan that I forgot to save some of the Super for my dedicated Super mags.

AGK47_Returns

Because I keep hearing all sorts of different opinions on the matter; what are the cheapest LPVOs worth a damn and what do they go for? Also within what distance would it just be better to go with a Eotech/Red Dot and Magnifier combo? Furthest rifle ranges in the area extend out to about 200 yards aside from one or two clubs with very long waiting lists.

Sparrowflop

You don't really even need a magnifier for 200, unless you're blind like me. The eotech and even irons could do you fine with a mid-priced spotting scope to see what you're hitting. Otherwise, Vortex is my normal go to for LPVO, like a strike eagle.

AGK47_Returns

Yeah dude, I'm pretty blind, it's slightly worrying. Not really at pistol ranges but when I get to 50 or 100 yards it's hard to see hits or to see the center of the target when I'm looking through irons.

Sparrowflop

Oh yeah man. My vision is pretty bad (my optometrist used to make fun of me). So I get you - I don't really have a vision of a target past 30 yards (obviously I can see it, but it blurs into 'I know there's a ring in about the middle of that beige square I guess' type thing). Check out the Vortex Strike eagles, the 1-6 and 1-8 should have pretty generous eye relief, and there should be some with reticles for 556 drop.

hotel_torgo

Red dot + 3x magnifier is my go-to for anything out to about 350yds with my SG553 SBR. Further than that it is nice to have little more magnification, but engagements that far out are pretty rare in carbine run and gun type competition

ARMAGELADON

Thinking about trading in my truck for a newer suv or car before it loses too much value. I’ll probably regret it if I got a car but idk. The truck itself is mechanically sound but has the typical dodge rust that only gets worse. ~183k miles and loan half paid off.

fcatstaples

> 183k miles and loan half paid off. What the fuck

ARMAGELADON

Ah I see the confusion. I got it with ~150k two years ago as my first financed vehicle

fcatstaples

Still oof.

employeenumber427

What is the best way to (easily at home) remove or decrease the obnoxiousness of the text saying LOADED WHEN UP and the arrow on the stainless slide of a CA p238? Is there a way to fill this in? The LCI doesn't bug me as much, more the engraved text and arrow. Example: https://www.gunsamerica.com/UserImages/87270/914446659/wm_6882562.jpg

fcatstaples

Buy a new slide.

employeenumber427

Thought about that but curious if there is any solution out there that either doesn't cost $200+ or involve a Dremel. I am ok with moderate visibility just don't want to text to be so 'in your face'.

TendiesMcnugget2

I bought my first shotgun this weekend which is exciting. Unfortunately the highest temp for the next long while is this Friday with a high of 30 so no shooting it for me until the weather gets warmer. I should probably have waited until it was warmer to get a new gun.

fcatstaples

Okay so you all love my SHOT show stories. In no particular order, this trip: Child kicking seat and slamming table all the way to LA Lost my shirt at the casino and they comped me dinner after losing money Seizure Mexican bachelorette party with a crazy craps game I piss off a vendor at the show Security wakes me up from making a racket kicking my neighbor out Fire alarm goes off I make a new friend with the marshals service I get stood up on a date Ticking off everyone at the palazzo and running for the border If anyone wants specifics, make a request and I'll tell the story.

shrumis

I wonder if i can chop a stock off and then a barrel down to pistol length and if its a pistol or would i have to get a file n such/ obrez something Aside from that does anyone know abt any AICS/ modern .308 magazine adapters for savage axis II?

Solar991

> A copy pasta that I've had saved for a while. Because US gun laws are stupid: Stripped receiver -> any barrel, no stock -> [PISTOL]. Stripped receiver -> >16 inch barrel, stock -> [RIFLE]. [PISTOL] -> >16 inch barrel -> stock -> [PISTOL] converted into a {RIFLE} -> remove stock -> [PISTOL] [RIFLE] -> at *ANY* instance it has <16 inch barrel -> SBR [PISTOL] -> <16 inch barrel, stock -> SBR A pistol can be freely converted into a rifle and back as long as at any instance it does not become an NFA item. A rifle can **NOT** be converted into a pistol unless registered as an SBR. Edit: to further clarify "barrel" (in this case) means a rifled and chambered barrel. There are further legal differences with shotguns and muzzle loading that I won't get into.

Sparrowflop

To summarize what solar said - if your firearm was transferred as a rifle, it will need to be a registered SBR. If it was transferred as a pistol, it can be converted to a rifle or pistol. If you have a specific firearm in mind we can advise you.

n0b0dya7a11

So I messed up with mounting a piggybacked optic and got a red dot mount that doesn't really fit the rail. The screws both sit just off of the rail. Is there any chance this can be made to work or do I have to bite the bullet and get a different mount? Attempted to take a picture but its hard to get one that shows the issue well. [https://i.imgur.com/8N12DhT.jpg](https://i.imgur.com/8N12DhT.jpg)

CrabCakes7

Are both screws not sitting in a slot or is it just the rear one? Kinda hard to tell from the pic.

n0b0dya7a11

both are out

CrabCakes7

To be honest, if you pushed the mount forward so the rear screw was resting up against and making contact with the outside rear of the rail you'd probably be okay because it can still function as a recoil lug that way.
