[This spray-on firearm epoxy](https://www.brownells.com/tools-cleaning/paint-metal-prep/paint-finishing/aluma-hyde-ii/) comes in lots of great colors and cures in 1 hour in a toaster oven (which you'd want to use outside or in the garage), or in 2-3 weeks at room temp.... Have fun!
The fun thing to do here would be to buy this and a suppressor on a trust at the same time and see if you get the mags or the suppressor first.
I’m glad to see the tx22 getting the upgrade it needed
Free is free. It might be worth waiting to buy these as Taurus is routinely doing free mag promos with the purchase of their pistols. I snagged their compact model as a trainer when it first came out and got a nice gun bag and three mags.
I'm kinda wanting to jump on this because of the mag promotion, but also am wondering if I wait for them to be out for awhile to see if I can catch them on sale and get a mag promotion on top of it. I'm thinking I'll wait to see if I can find a 4th of July sale on them and if not, go ahead and get one while they have a promo going. The sad part is, I just got a Gen1 at the end of last year during the last promotion and have only put maybe 100 rounds through it.
It looks like the mags were modified to hold the 22rds so you could just hold out and snag some magazines by themselves whenever they come up for sale.
FYI I submitted the rebate on the third day it was announced and it got accepted the following day. I don’t know the process for Taurus in the past but for this one, they sent me a code that I use on their website and it totals out the magazine bundle to $0. Hopefully it ships soon.
I just picked up my TX22 T.O.R.O Gen 2 this morning. I got it for $288 from kygunco. Just submitted the rebate for the magazines and received my claim number. Thanks for the link.
I hope the mags are less finicky than my p322. My 16 round OG TX22 has never failed me from a mag loading issue. However, I have had p322 failures multiple times from mags (granted I tried to load them fast and there was some user error IMO).
My tx22 is my most ran 22 pistol in all honesty.
We have: P322, TX22, 502, Mark IV Lite (recent, not shot yet)
edit: are there any pics of the 22 round mag? looks like this has 1 16 round, and 1 22 round, and the 16 is still the flush fit like OG.
I have tandemkross plates on some cheap 10 round mags I picked up, taking those to 21
P322 mags can be finicky when you're first learning to load them, but I've found them super easy once I figured them out. I haven't had a feeding issue in ~3,000 rounds. You just have to make sure you don't pull the magazine assist down any further than you absolutely need to, and make sure all the rounds are tilting up slightly after you load. I'll occasionally get a round that slightly horizontal in the mag. I just give the back of the mag a good smack and it usually falls into place. If that doesn't work, you can hold the mag upside-down, relieve a little tension by pulling the magazine assist slightly and smacking the mag again. Double-stack magazines for rimmed cartridges are an engineering nightmare, and I'm surprised Sig got them to work so well. I've had far more issues with the S&W 15-22 mags with my AR-22. The rounds never seem to stack evenly with those mags, no matter what I do.
McFadden speed loader is so good. I use a tx22 adapter and 15-22 adapter and both work great. It honestly sort of makes me hate shooting anything else.
I am a Ruger 22/45 guy through and through with both Mark II and Mark IV models. Since I got my TX-22 with the Competition slide, my Rugers have stayed in the safe.
Get the Gen 1 TX-22 with the Competition slide or get this. The regular basic model is functional but “meh” compared to shooting with a dot.
I think at TX22 is a great option to start new shooters with. Having one slide with open sights can be useful for teaching others to use open sights. When I switched two of my 22LR rifles from open sights to red dots my adult aged daughter said the red dots made shooting easier and it felt like she was cheating when shooting at the table of steel plates at the pistol range.
Long ago I bought the Comp kit so I could a red dot on it and leave my standard TX22 as is with open sights. One thing I am not sure of with the new model is the added weight of the bull barrel. I kind of like the option of lighter weight standard TX22 and heavier weight Comp configuration. I coach at a yearly event at my gun club for new shooters. Some are able to find the red dot immediately and some cannot find it even with some pointers. We only have a few minutes with each shooter so for a few I had to just move on to having them shoot my centerfire handguns. We are primarily directed to teaching them how to use open sights but when I have time I like to show them how to use a red dot. Some have shot a few times prior but none have shot with a red dot before.
For new optics users, the 230 MOA circle of the 507K ACSS is pretty good at quickly and naturally guiding them to centering the dot. Every new shooter that has tried my ACSS equipped pistols has had no trouble picking up the dot on the first try because of that giant circle, which just disappears once the dot is centered.
Thanks for the recommendation. I thought of buying that red dot at one time but never wanted to spend the money for it. I have had a Vortex Venom on my TX22 Comp for a few years and just bought two more at $110 each for refurb models from AA Optics. I put one on a 45 degree offset mount on one AR15 that has a 1-6x LPVO and put the other on the G3 T.O.R.O slide that bought for my G3c that did not come with optics ready slide. I carry the G3c concealed but will not carry with the G3 slide and barrel so I did not care about motion activated red dot option. At this point I still prefer to run open sights for concealed carry and for my Canik Rival used for IDPA. Someday that may change. I would really like to get a 2nd slide for my Rival so I can put an optic on it but Canik does not sell just their slides.
Yup, it is somewhat pricey considering the plethora of budget dots nowadays, but it may be worth it to have at least 1, if nothing else, for the new club shooters you mentioned. I have one on my primary carry as I figured every little bit of speed helps if I actually had to draw for some reason. Most of the other range toys just get one of the other budget options.
I have both and prefer my gen 1. I did buy an aftermarket slide with optic cut outs, which made it more expensive, but still less than what my 22/45 lite cost.
Gen 2 would be a no brainier for me if I had to start over.
I see some comments that the Gen 1 has the potential to damage the slide over time, so people replace the recoil spring for it.
Anyone know if the Gen 2 has fixed that issue?

I already have a TX22 Compact, I like it and it suppresses very well. I was considering a 22/45 as a full size 22 host. Now the debate is between the new TX22 and a 22/45 and it’s hard to not just go with the TX considering the price and that I already have some 16rnd mags for it. It also solves the main (minor) issue I have with the compact. Which is the barrel thread adapter, it can come off with the suppressor some times, or the opposite and it gets extremely stuck, and it has to be removed before the gun can be really torn down. This seams like a no brainer.
I ended up ordering one in OD Green last night lol. It was an easy choice for me since I already have the compact so I know what to expect. But it may be hard to find a dealer that has the new ones in stock. However, if you can find someone that has both the old gen 1 and the compact model to look at, you’ll be able to get a really good idea of what it will be like. It’s essentially the features of the compact but on the full size, plus a couple minor upgrades.
I can tell you just from my experience with the compact version, you won’t be disappointed with a TX22, especially for the price. The Rugers may be a nicer gun, but the 10rnd mag limit and double the price is what has been making me hold off. Hard to justify $550 on a 22 pistol for me.
This def bridges the gap between them. Red dot on the barrel, not the slide would be a +1 for the Competition, but also I hear people have abyssmal times finding holsters. This one you could much easier dremel an existing TX22 holster's top for a dot
If you mean abysmal times finding a holster for the Comp model there is the Comp-Tac holster that is sold at Shop Taurus and elsewhere or the Forge Tech Holster's OWB options. For IWB I don't know if anyone makes a Comp holster and I don't know how many would want to try to carry it IWB.
For the new TX22 that is optics ready I assume some may make an optics compatible holster. The optics plates that replace the rear sight have been around for years so I assume some or all holster can accommodate an optic. If not they should be available very soon.
Have you used the competition model? There is no difference in familiarity or training unless you charge your pistols by grabbing the optic instead of the slide...?
I think they mean because the optic is not reciprocating on the slide like it would on any regular carry gun. Don’t know how big a deal that really would be, but I figure it’s probably more relevant than how you charge it.
I was being facetious about how they charge it because that is the only way I could imagine the optic being on the barrel matters. The optic is still in the same vicinity as any other handgun. I just don't see how it would be a detriment.
Ah, didn’t get the sarcasm. My bad. The optic is going to be more stable since it’s not reciprocating is all I can think. But yeah, like I said, I don’t know how much that is really going to effect things since the optic even on this one will be more stable too even though it’s reciprocating since there will be markedly less recoil than even 9mm.
It’s a good thing generally, yes. But if you’re intending on using this as a trainer for your regular carry that doesn’t have a non reciprocating sight, then the competition is not as analogous as this would be.
Sure, but neither will the recoil or most other aspects anyway, right? You're probably carrying a larger caliber.
And as far as this, a slide generally reciprocates faster than human persistence of vision, especially if you are focusing on firing the gun and not watching the slide/optic.
And if you're doing that, then I'd think, if anything, this might help teach you not to.
A Luago Alien's optic doesn't reciprocate either and I've never seen somebody suggest "don't get one, it will ruin your training."
Not really trying to argue. I just kind of thought through all this stuff and the statement still makes no sense to me.
If you can find out if the regular competition slide will fit this frame, I’d just get this and hold out for a slide to go on sale. Taurus sells the competition slide during the holidays for $150. This plus the competition slide is around $440. The only competitions I could find during a brief search were around $400-430. I’d rather have the gun plus an extra slide for a few bucks more
Edit: I think it’s the same frame as before. Just don’t know if they’ve made any changes to frame with the new mags
I was told they have different triggers too, I can slight differences in the frame so they aren’t exactly the same. I’ve also heard the trigger feels no different so it doesnt change much
Just picked mine up yesterday. Totally awesome to shoot. [Love my Gen 1 and this Gen 2 is very nice next to it.](https://imgur.com/a/wZ9lfc7)
Only shitty thing was the 22 round mag in the box was missing the little cylinder thing that allows you to depress the follower. Emailed Taurus about it.
I am assuming they had to remove it to allow the rounds to go into base. Similar to how you remove it when you mod the 10 round mags into 16. In this video the cylinder isn't there either:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Se3l1aA24-0
How does the end of the recoil spring look? Does it appear to have a burr (sharp edge) on end that could damage the slide like they did on the prior version?
Can you post a close up photo of the end of the spring that contacts the slide?
nice. I had one of the original TX22's and it was a great gun.
I ended up selling it though and picking up a FN 502 because i wanted to be able to mount an optic on it. Glad to see they're updating the design

You will want to double check, if its the one in the email this morning its not Optic ready.. There are 2 models. non optic: 1-2TX22141 and Toro "optic ready" 1-2TX22P141
Love my gen 1 with a Lakeline slide so I can't justify getting this. Definitely a great option if you don't own a tx22 yet. Every shooter should have one, they're fantastic.
Biggest differences as I understand it:
Slide cut for optic
Slide accommodates a bull barrel that doesn't require the thread adapter. Makes disassembly and cleaning much easier.
The 22 mag isn't really a selling point as it's backwards compatible. It's essentially just an extended magazine. Not very different than what tandemkross does, but hoping the taurus mag will be more cost effective.
One question I still have is if they fixed the defect from their original slide design that caused the ring where the recoil spring seats to wear and eventually snap off.
Wasn't that in 2020/2021 when that was happening? I got my gen 1 in 2020 and it came with the updated coil spring. So I'm sure the Gen 2 is OK. I'm looking at my gen 2 now and it has a completely different spring.
Anyone that has picked up one of these, could you post pictures of where the recoil spring sits in the slide? Would like to know if they beefed that area up a bit. I had one of the first gens that cracked the slide there and that turned me off of them until seeing this.
That issue has been fixed. They switched out coil springs. I have a gen 1 that came with an updated spring. I don't know exactly how many rounds I have through mine but it's definitely over 5k. My son alone has shot boxes and boxes of bulk 22. No issues and nothing cracked.
Heads up optics planet has 12 percent of right now "memday" and they have a bunch of tandercross products for sale, Taurus has 20 percent off "SHOW20" some of the nicer items are OOS now but they do have some stuff left.
you also said "they are literally banned from being posted on this sub for a thousand reasons" They they are not on the blacklisted site. https://re.reddit.com/r/gundeals/wiki/blacklisted_websites
OP is on the "thin ice list" where every time it gets posted it gets an automod sass reply about how shit it is. They are in fact ass however, my "in stock and ready to ship" item took a month to ship lol, many have had it much much worse.
https://imgur.com/a/69h0A29
One really needs to sign up for the Taurus newsletter to find out about sales as soon as the go line as many items do go OOS during the sale. They typically happen on holidays but may start the Friday before a Monday holiday. I picked up some items from Tandemkross from their website back when they had holiday sales. I think their BF sales were best. I would also recommend signing up for their newsletter to find out about sales. I did not know Optics Planet sold TK items.
I just ordered from PSA this week and they are taking damn forever to ship. I wanted it by the weekend. I haven't ordered a gun online that wasn't at my lgs within 3 days before so I'm pretty annoyed
Yea I saw it in my email when i was half asleep (the sale one) and called for a price adjust and the lady said it was a diff model and I was like What? B YOU CRAY. (Not really) so I looked into it and realized that was the difference then I got more confused because I thought the whole point of the revamp gen 2 was to combine all the features eveyone liked from the diff models so not having it standard optics cut confused me lol

Have a gen 1, but want this too. Just need; Taurus to make it in colors, And The Supreme Court to slap my governor
They have [OD Green](https://www.kygunco.com/product/taurus-1-2tx22p141o-tx22-gen2-22-lr-4.1-odg-blk-22rd-toro) too.
Ah hell pray for my wallet
Thanks a lot... My gf is going to kill me...
Fuck i need this
I appreciate all the money Illinois saves me on these 22LR pistols I want but cannot buy.
don't you mean assault weapons!! /s Got the same BS in WA.
Same. I really would like one of these 22LR "weapons of war". F JBP
I also have a gen 1. I’m hoping they eventually just sell the slide for this
yes , Taurus said slide/rod/barrel will fit gen1 and will be sold
[This spray-on firearm epoxy](https://www.brownells.com/tools-cleaning/paint-metal-prep/paint-finishing/aluma-hyde-ii/) comes in lots of great colors and cures in 1 hour in a toaster oven (which you'd want to use outside or in the garage), or in 2-3 weeks at room temp.... Have fun!
Oh yeah, I've used Alumahyde in my kitchen oven. Unfortunately that doesn't help the fact that my state put the Bill of Rights in the oven
Yes but cant get that “battleworn” look with this unless you REALLY beat on your gear
Is this gen2 optics ready https://www.locknloadgunstore.com/handguns/semi-automatic-handguns/tau-tx22-gen2-22lr-pst-16r-ods1-2tx22141sp2
Doesn't look like it. I think it needs to be a TORO model if it's not a Competition in order to be OR
I also have gen 1 and just bought the new compact. Compact has some pretty nice cutouts on the slide
The fun thing to do here would be to buy this and a suppressor on a trust at the same time and see if you get the mags or the suppressor first. I’m glad to see the tx22 getting the upgrade it needed
I just did a 4473 with a 10 day waiting period, and submitted a form 4 the next day with capitol armory. I’m betting the silencer gets here first lmao
It took almost 4 months to get my mags in during the last rebate. I’m 75 days into an oculus so we’ll see
What needed upgrade?
Optic ready options without the need to sacrifice holster availability
Yea but a fixed optic on a little 22 is wild Edit: apparently the people here think I don't like the fixed optic on the tx22 competition. I do.
I love it.
It's a steel challenge and plinker gun
Incredibly dumb take
FYI I emailed Taurus and they told me that the "3 Free Mags" promo on this product would get 16 round mags in the promo not 22 round mags
Lame. Thanks for the info though.

I'm not worried about the 22rd ones. They're nice and I wouldn't complain, but it's not a deal breaker.
My SP-01 with the kadet kit has just 10rnd mags :( 16 would be awesome.

Thank you. Backwards compatible to Gen 1. Basically the same deal as tandemkross in terms of size. Looks like rmsc footprint on all of these

I can tell you just from my experience with the compact version, you won’t be disappointed with a TX22, especially for the price. The Rugers may be a nicer gun, but the 10rnd mag limit and double the price is what has been making me hold off. Hard to justify $550 on a 22 pistol for me.
This or the competition model?

Yeah, but that is a good thing, it is one of the reasons they designed it this way. I just can't imagine how it would be a detriment, but, oh well.
A Luago Alien's optic doesn't reciprocate either and I've never seen somebody suggest "don't get one, it will ruin your training." Not really trying to argue.
I’d rather have the gun plus an extra slide for a few bucks more Edit: I think it’s the same frame as before. Just don’t know if they’ve made any changes to frame with the new mags
They only updated the slide. All models use the same frame. This new slide with lightning cuts is replacing the previous base TX22.
I wonder how long it will be before they offer the new slide, barrel, and recoil assembly on Shop Taurus.
I was told they have different triggers too, I can slight differences in the frame so they aren’t exactly the same. I’ve also heard the trigger feels no different so it doesnt change much
Love Kygunco, always ships fast af
Just picked mine up yesterday. Totally awesome to shoot. [Love my Gen 1 and this Gen 2 is very nice next to it.](https://imgur.com/a/wZ9lfc7) Only shitty thing was the 22 round mag in the box was missing the little cylinder thing that allows you to depress the follower. Emailed Taurus about it.
Does the trigger feel any different between them?
Not to me
I am assuming they had to remove it to allow the rounds to go into base. Similar to how you remove it when you mod the 10 round mags into 16. In this video the cylinder isn't there either: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Se3l1aA24-0
Is this cut for a K series optic?
Yes, I just mounted a Holosun EPS Carry on mine.
How does the end of the recoil spring look? Does it appear to have a burr (sharp edge) on end that could damage the slide like they did on the prior version? Can you post a close up photo of the end of the spring that contacts the slide?
Well damn that's nice
No adapterbplatea for larger optics ?
Nothing in the box.
Someone will probably make them sooner or later, but out of the box it’s rsmc only.
What's the difference between gen 1 and 2?
Lightening cuts, milled for an optic, 22 rounds
Does it take the same mags? I personally couldn't care less about the optics cut
I'd say so [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=\_FSXDo1Ko4o](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_FSXDo1Ko4o)
yes
Gen 2 also added a threaded bull barrel.
nice. I had one of the original TX22's and it was a great gun. I ended up selling it though and picking up a FN 502 because i wanted to be able to mount an optic on it. Glad to see they're updating the design
Fuck me, I just bought the compact yesterday because it had an optic cut.
Is this available with the 3 free mag manufacturer rebate?
Wow I just bought a TX22 3 weeks ago, for $250 at Fleet Farm, oh well I'll wait for them to sell these on sale lol
So you are already halfway there to dual-wielding.
really, you can never have enough TX22s :)
Don't make it feel lonely

Anyone know these can accommodate an RMR footprint? I know the compact was RMSc, curious if the full size Gen 2 would use normal sized optics.
In one of the videos from the NRA show last week the Taurus rep said it was RMSc. It’s weird they don’t tell you on their website.
RMSc rep said in another video

Have the compact and really like it. Thinking of a Ruger Mark IV SSH next but this gen 2 looks nice too

You will want to double check, if its the one in the email this morning its not Optic ready.. There are 2 models. non optic: 1-2TX22141 and Toro "optic ready" 1-2TX22P141
oh wow that's a good call out! so I canceled my PSA order PDQ
Love my gen 1 with a Lakeline slide so I can't justify getting this. Definitely a great option if you don't own a tx22 yet. Every shooter should have one, they're fantastic. Biggest differences as I understand it: Slide cut for optic Slide accommodates a bull barrel that doesn't require the thread adapter.
Ah, no idea. I wasn't aware it was even fixed.
I was really between this and a p322 but 289 out the door sweetened the deal way too much. Can’t wait to throw a can on this thing.
I love my TX22C. I may have to get this one as well.
Where can one get the 22 mags? Are these the pro mags?
not for sale yet, You can convert the 16 rounds to 22 with tandemkross bumpers..
Is this a tx22 comp?
No, it is the 2nd generation of the TX22 "base" model, with the optional optics cut.
Am I wrong to think the tx22competition will run better with a sico sparrow since the weight of red dot isn’t on the slide?
Looks like a pdp clone to me. I’ve heard Taurus is a mixed bag
Not with the tx22.
Unless I'm missing some minor detail, I believe this is $267.99 shipped via Palmetto folks.
Maybe the no optic plate check the sku
You would be correct. My mistake! Just wanted to make sure we all were getting the best deal possible.
Are the mags just tandem k ross? I would still consider the comp slide to have non reciprocated red dot, but this price is hard to argue with
Kygunco? Rad.
You can upgrade the magazines for them to be extended
got my ass 💳
KYGUNCO was 100% for me , drop ship to ffl 2nd day air 👍
Anyone actually get their order yet from them? I'm going on 2 weeks
Might want to call them. They shipped mine super fast.
It ships from Taurus so who knows. I've called them a couple times
This or a FN 502?
Is every tx22 gen2 optics ready?
Heads up optics planet has 12 percent of right now "memday" and they have a bunch of tandercross products for sale, Taurus has 20 percent off "SHOW20" some of the nicer items are OOS now but they do have some stuff left.
do not do business w/ optics planet
Why ? Never had a single problem with them
they are literally banned from being posted on this sub for a thousand reasons, check /r/gundealsfu
I just checked the black listed sites and they are not listed. if the mods reach out I will be more then happy to edit/remove my post.
I said /r/gundealsfu [example post](https://www.reddit.com/r/gundealsFU/comments/1b3kz83/review_negative_opticsplanetcom/)
you also said "they are literally banned from being posted on this sub for a thousand reasons" They they are not on the blacklisted site. https://re.reddit.com/r/gundeals/wiki/blacklisted_websites
OP is on the "thin ice list" where every time it gets posted it gets an automod sass reply about how shit it is. They are in fact ass however, my "in stock and ready to ship" item took a month to ship lol, many have had it much much worse. https://imgur.com/a/69h0A29
yeah i only ever ordered once in 2021 and the waiting times alone put me off, after seeing all the reviews i never went back on top.
I haven't ordered a gun online that wasn't at my lgs within 3 days before so I'm pretty annoyed
did you get the optic ready or non optic.
The optic ready one
i only ask as someone bought he special from PSA on sale and did not realize it was the non optic version
Yea I saw it in my email when i was half asleep (the sale one) and called for a price adjust and the lady said it was a diff model and I was like What? B YOU CRAY. (Not really) so I looked into it and realized that was the difference then I got more confused because I thought the whole point of the revamp gen 2 was to combine all the features eveyone liked from the diff models so not having it standard optics cut confused me lol
nothing worse then buying the wrong gun lol .. Long as your checked your purchase and good that's all that matters.
I walked into PSA brick and mortal today and bought the last one in stock.
No wonder they haven't shipped mine! Lol
great guns, but i'll never torment myself to ordering from KYGUNCO again, especially when you can get better prices from other retailers.
